Switched ISPs, now all of my Sent email disappeared.

I did however, retain my account with my old ISP until I can get everything back. I posted this same question on other threads but the situations/conditions were different.
Any idea how I can get them back? IS it a port thing? I noticed that my new ISP had me change ports.

RuskinRules,
I'm going to ask the same question: Do you have a Time Machine backup?
If so, it should be relatively easy to find, and restore, the old sent emails.
The first thing to know, however, is whether this old account was set up as an IMAP account, or a POP account. If it was an IMPA account, you may be able to re-create the account in Mail, then use the "rebuild" function to recover those sent emails. IMAP keeps all messages, whether received or sent, on the email server.
With a POP account, however, all messages are stored locally by default. While there are some instances where incoming messages might be retained on the server, all outgoing messages sent using the client are stored locally, and nowhere else.
So, you may be able to recover those sent messages from the server if you were using IMAP. Otherwise, your only option will be to recover them from a backup, preferably a Time Machine backup.
If a Time Machine backup does exist, open a Finder window and navigate to /Users/HOME/Library/Mail/. Inside the Mail folder, you will see some number of other folders. Among these, you will see one folder for each email account you currently have set up in Mail. These will be named using your email address for each account. Now, click the Time Machine icon in the Dock. Navigate "back in time" until you see the folder named for your old email account. Select it, then click "Restore."
This returns the folder to its proper place in your HOME folder, but you'll still have to import it back into Mail. In Mail, choose File>Import Mailboxes, then use the dialogue to navigate to the "sent" mailbox within the restored folder.

  • Sent emails disappear

I have a user who randomly has sent emails disappear on him. For example, between a period of 1 hour, he sent 3 emails. All those emails reached the recipient but they are no where to be found in his mailbox. I checked the message log on my Exchange server
and it shows that the email was sent and received.
I checked his deleted items and checked his rules to see if any rules could affect them. Emails were not found in deleted items and no rules could have affected those emails.
One interesting thing was that when he sent those emails, they were at 12-1am but he had sent an email at 1:16am which was still there. When he came in to work that morning, his Outlook had crashed. Maybe Outlook crashed and didn't save the emails? But they
would have synced with Exchange and should then appear in OWA which they don't. Any ideas what could have happened?
He uses Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2013 in cache mode.

Yes. In normal situations sent messages should be visible. Also is "Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder" option marked for that mailbox: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/outlook-2010/messages-arent-saved-in-the-sent-items-folder/?

  • Z10 sent emails disappear

I have a new Z10. Always preferred Blackberry for email security and handling. Now, on this phone, when I send an email on my Virgin Media account - ntlworld.com address - the sent email disappears from the Hub within seconds. it is not in sent folder. Tried everything - rung Blackberry, Virgin Media, Orange - deleted the account, reloaded it, done a factory reset. Changed the email settings - show sent items etc. Nothing makes any difference.
Help, somebody, please!! No-one seems to have an answer or an explanation for what is happening - except 'it is somebody ele's problem'!!!

I don't know why BlackBerry won't play ball.
Remember, I don't work for BlackBerry, just a user same as you.
But trust me, BlackBerry is no refusing to work on this, it's Virgin or Orange who won't escalate it.
Stated otherwise, you are being lied to.

  • How can i delete all of my SENT emails at once?

I would like to get rid of my SENT emails but I can only do it one at a time. Any suggestions?

You would have to ask your email provider, we are the browser not the email service.

  • Switched houses, now I can't sent any mail

Exactly as the subject. I moved to a new house, same ISP, and I cannot send any email. Not Yahoo, Gmail, or my own servers. I changed nothing in any of my preferences, and like I said, same ISP.
Background - 10.4.10, just tried to do an update (which there was none), Mail 2.1.1
    Any thoughts?

The internet service provider may have a different server to send outgoing mail through. You can usually authenticate your outgoing mail server with the old one through Mail's preferences using ports 587 or 2626 when the outgoing mail server changes. Check with your internet access provider.

  • Sent emails disappeared after rebuild

When I try to view sent mail from one of my accounts in Mail, I've been seeing "The message xxx concerning “xxx” has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it." Checked the size of the box and it was at 1.1 GB, so I deleted a bunch of emails with attachments, but that didn't help after re-opening the application. Following the advice of a post here, I tried to rebuild that mailbox, and the emails all vanished. Tried finding them in Home/Library/Mail/SentMessages.mbox, but the sent mail files there are very small (20 KB), nowhere near the 400MB I was at when the emails disappeared.
I also discovered that there are two, near-duplicate folders for this account in the Mail folder: one contains a trailing space after the name; dates created 3/25/2005 and 1/18/2006, both last modified today. I'm using POP on OS 10.3.9 and have tried re-importing the mailbox, but got nothing. I still get the message about downloading the message from he server when I try to view Sent emails from this account....
Can anybody help me get those sent emails back in their folder? Thanks in advance--

What appears below is what I would have posted if it wasn’t because of the weird duplicate account folder you mention. You may be able to figure out which of the two account folders is Mail using to store your mail by looking at the modification dates of the mailboxes it contains rather than the modification dates of the account folders themselves...
    <hr>
It looks like you have the problem described in the following article:
    Overstuffed mailbox is unexpectedly empty
As you can see, letting a mailbox grow indefinitely is a really bad idea — and it appears to be too late now to solve the problem doing what the article suggests. If this is a POP account, you may be able to fix it as follows:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/.
    3. Locate Sent Messages.mbox and move it to the Desktop.
    4. Open Mail. A new empty Sent Messages.mbox will automatically be created within the account folder, and this will allow you to continue using Mail normally while trying to solve the problem.
Although Sent Messages.mbox appears to be a file, it’s actually a special kind of folder (a package) that contains several files. Ctrl-click on Sent Messages.mbox and choose Show Package Contents from the contextual menu to see the files it contains. Of these files, mbox is the most important and is where all your messages are stored. What’s the size of that file? Depending on its size, you may or may not be able to directly import it back into Mail in the next step.
An Incoming_Mail file may also be present, in which case it might contain messages that Mail couldn’t transfer to mbox. Incoming_Mail is also a standard mbox file like mbox proper, just named differently, and can be imported back into Mail in the same way.
    5. In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes and follow the instructions to import the Sent Messages.mbox that’s on the Desktop. I’m not sure what the import options available in Mail 1.x are, but you should choose Other / Standard mbox or something like that, so that Mail looks at the mbox file only (and Incoming_Mail, if present) and ignores the other files in the package.
If Mail doesn’t let you select Sent Messages.mbox in step 5 because it’s a package instead of a plain folder, rename Sent Messages.mbox to just Sent Messages (i.e. remove the .mbox suffix) so that it becomes a normal folder, and try again. You cannot do this directly in the Finder because removing a suffix by normal means causes the Finder to hide the suffix instead of renaming the file. To remove the suffix from the name, you must do File > Get Info (⌘I) on the file and change the name there.
If the mbox file is too big for Mail to handle it, however, you’ll have to break it into smaller pieces. You can do that with an MBOX Breaker Script available at Allan Sampson’s website, or with Emailchemy. The former will ignore the Incoming_Mail file that I mentioned previously, but you may try importing that file directly if it’s not too big or just ignore it if all your messages are in mbox. Also, if you removed the .mbox suffix from the name of the mailbox, you may need to add it back again for the script to recognize it.
If all is well and you don’t miss anything, the files on the Desktop can be deleted, although you may want to keep them for a while, just in case.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • ICloud is making sent email disappear, why?

    Hello folks,
I've been having problems with iCloud. Every now and then when I send an email off to a recipient, there will not be a copy in the sent emails folder nor can I scroll up in the messages screen to see my sent email.
This only happens on iCloud. I have a Gmail a/c on Mail.app too and no problems there.
    What's going on?
    Best,
    LA.

I'm having the same issue.  Every now and then, my sent e-mail does not appear in the Sent folder.  It happened again this evening, of course I was sending an important e-mail to a lawyer and now I'm not sure if he received it or not.  I'm waiting for Apple Support to contact me tomorrow.  I did contact them about a month or so about this issue but I was disconnected so I never did get a response.

  • Sent emails disappear since migration

Most of my Sent emails are missing from the Sent box since migration from BT Yahoo to new BT in mid June. That's hundreds of emails gone, only a few dozen left. In box is behaving ok. Online chat said to phone the helpline (0800 111 4567).  He said I had go to Tech Expert as it's a problem with my equipment.  But I have to pay a subscription for this service, and it's the same problem on laptop and netbook (windows, IE9), so I think it's a BT server issue (I was hacked and emptied out on 20 May, most emails replaced but not all). I can't get anyone at BT to address it. Here's the thing - I can see ALL my Sent emails on the iPod, thank goodness (but can't print them). So I'm having to send the ones I need back to my inbox, one by one. Any ideas?

Might be worth trying another browser - Firefox is generally regarded as superior to IE anyway. Once you've got the Sent box back, I'd advise using an email client such as Thunderbird to store your stuff on your computer (properly backed up) rather than trust a remote server to look after it.

  • Sent Email Disappeared

    Hi all,
I did a reset of my iPhone this morning (Press-hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button simultaneously until the grey Apple logo appears) as it has been acting a bit funny (apps slow to open/close, apps opening by themselves).
I have reset my phone before with good results. Today was no different with one exception, my sent mail disappeared when I went to check my email. The other thing is all my incoming email was marked "unread". I let the incoming email load (about 80 or so messages) and checked them. They were fine. All my outgoing email was gone. I sent a test email to myself, received it and my sent mail folder was back; albeit with only one email inside.
Does anyone know if I can recover my sent email?
    thanks in advance,
    Brian

Sounds like you are using POP mail and possible sluggishness was mail app getting corrupt with your data in some way.
You may not recall but when you first set up the account on the phone you don't have the sent and outbox folders. They show up after something is sent or what not.
While POP is functional, it was never designed for today's age of multiple devices checking the same box. It doesn't actually sync but rather gets copies and copies on your end don't get sent back to the server. This is why many prefer IMAP or Exchange accounts.

  • Calendar said if I wanted to save entries for more than a month to click 'all events' in settings.   Now all events except birthdays have disappeared!  Have tried to reverse request with no luck.  HELP!

Calendar message said if I wanted to save entries for more than a month I should go to settings and change to sync for 'all events'.  I did this and all but repeating birthday entries disappeared.   I have tried to reverse but nothing has reappeared.  HELP!

    Welcome to the discussions,
WHY does it claim to be 8G but my capacity now says its just 6.83
The size of you HD is calculated binary when it comes to use it, instead of decimal when companies want to advertise there products. 1 KB=1024Byte instead of 1000KB as advertised by the manufacturer. In your case this reduces the actual available space by the factor of 0.93 or approx. 7,4GB.
If you have an "other" section in your color bar showing the different types of data on your ipod, which is bigger than 500MB, this could be a sign of corrupt data caused by a sync that did not complete or copied damaged data. A restore will reduce the size to normal again.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you restore your ipod, iTunes will install the newest firmware first and then add back your data and settings from your last backup if you choose to "restore from backup". Every backup is replaced by the following one, so make sure to include this folder in your backup routine in case you'll have to go back.
You can check the location and size of the backup folder for your ipod here:
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    copied from: About backups http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Sorry, I can't answer your payment question, I have never used your kind of setup, maybe you can find something useful here: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/

  • Sent emails disappearing from Apple Mail

Hello, I'm finding that sent emails are disappearing from my sent folder in Apple Mail. I was having this issue with the account's IMAP settings, so I've deleted the account and used the Exchange settings – same issue. It was working fine for a while, and then they've stopped saving in the sent folder altogether.
If I send emails through webmail, there's no issue.
    Machine / Software –
    OS X 10.10.2 on an iMac 21.5" 3.06Ghz Core i3 with 12GB of RAM

    Have exactly the same problem.
Sent six emails, without realising they wouldn't get saved in Sent Folder.
Moreover, i messaged one of the people i sent an email to and he told me the email did not arrive?

  • HT204075 Sent emails disappear no spam button

I have OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 on a new mac book air early 2015, missing sent emails, I have yahoo mail, also spam button is grayed over does not work? I do know that my email did go through but I have no record of it.  As a temporary fix I send myself a bc of any emails that are very important to me,  this doesn't happen to every email only happens randomly.  However the spam thumbs down is grayed over and does not work.

Yes. In normal situations sent messages should be visible. Also is "Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder" option marked for that mailbox: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/outlook-2010/messages-arent-saved-in-the-sent-items-folder/?

  • All of today's emails disappeared when I sent a response

This happens to me occasionally. When I'm responding to an email I received, once I click send, I got an error message and the entire list of today's emails, including the one I responded to, disappeared. I rebooted and still no emails from today are listed. I don't even know if the one I responded to got sent. Where did they go and how do I get them back? And finally, how do I correct this???

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't help & you can afford to redo any Mail Rules...
    Trash these files...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/... MessageRules.plist and MessageRules.plist
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/... MessageRules.plist and MessageRules.plist.backup

  • Sent emails disappearing

Some, not all, of the emails I send from a given account are disappearing. Odd thing is when I send them and then go to my Sent messages folder they appear for a brief moment and then they are gone.
For example I replied to an email. It wasn't in the Sent folder so I went to the message that I had replied to and clicked on the return arrow in the circle to the left of the message subject line and received this Error Message: _+Mail was unable to find your reply to the message “RE: Website planning and discovery questions”. You may have deleted the message.+_
    Any ideas????

I am sporadically having the same issue using Mail.app 4.2 w/IMAP on 10.6.3. Occasionally, I'll send an email and then happen to notice that it is not in the Sent mailbox. No errors, nothing stuck in the Outbox, or still in Drafts-- in fact, nothing to indicate that this has happened at all except looking for the sent copy and noticing it isn't there.
Not sure whether it's relevant, but when it happened this morning, it involved an email with an attachment that was about 1mb. In this case, I know that the email actually did go through, because the recipient replied to it. But even after rebuilding the Sent mailbox, the sent copy never appeared. (And other similar emails with attachments have not caused the same behavior-- it seems to be intermittent.)
