Switched to Firefox, ok.How stop some sites still opening in Safari?
After years with painfully sllow Safari i switched this year to Firefox which runs fast, ok.
But now just certain of my old sites I USED to visit in Safari now open that way when I hit automatic links in email.
Example: I have long subscribed to a online magazine with lots of articles. They send me frequent email describing their articles with a link to each one. My old mac is used to opening these links in Safari, my old disfavored browser. But I want it to openn themm in the faster Firefox?
Maybe I should just delete or trash my old Safari application totally?
Why do I keep it? MMaybe sentimental. Maybe think someday I'll need it?
Should II keep it?
How do i redirect these links thru my current favored browser, and not older browsers?

I just got a new laptop and have discovered this issue: When I try to click links on some sites to open a lightbox or popup (usually for login boxes or photo slideshows) nothing happens. Absolutely nothing, no error message, no loading screen, no "busy" or "working" animations, no redirect. I've tried the same pages in the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Chrome and they work correctly. These sites work on my old laptop with the same version of Firefox and Vista SP2 32 bit and my work computer with Windows 7 64 bit.
I've tried disabling Add-Ons one by one and as a group, didn't make a difference. I've cleared the cache and cookies. I've turned by firewall and antivirus/antispyware/antimalware programs on and off.
Sites with a known issue: "View larger images" on Zillow.com, Login on Moviepilot.com, Login on doubletakedeals.com. I can't remember any others at the moment.If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

How can I stop Top Sites from opening in Safari for Windows 4.0.2
Using Safari for Windows 4.0.2 on a PC, how can I stop the Top Sites window from opening? Any help would be appreciated.
Set any new window or tab to open a "blank" page.

Once latest Firefox 24 version uploaded, some sites visited get pop up that Adobe Flash Player 11.8 r800 has stopped working. Have tried following and none work:
- reinstalled latest Shockwave Flash software, uninstalled and reinstalled with clean wipes
- downgraded Flash to previous version
- disabled hardware acceleration
Only when I disable Javascript in Firefox will the error stop but then no Flash application will work.
This is clearly a Firefox issue with the latest version. The previous version was using the latest Flash and there was no issue.
Below you will see I am using older version of Flash as I was testing previous, but same issue when I go the latest verison.
Please fix in an update.Well that solution failed ... lasted for almost a day. The crashing of Flash is back.

How do you stop mobile sites from loading in safari automatically on my iPad? I can't log into mobile me because of this.
The me.com website is not designed for or intended to be accessed by iOS devices. Apple provides support in iOS or seperate Apps for accessing all aspects of MobileMe except for the Accounts section.
Use MobielMe as intended and you'll have no problems.

Even if you use a different browser to get access to me.com on iOS, you'll find most of it is unusable.
Other websites that present you with the mobile version have been programmed to do so by their developers. They specifically look for users accessing from 'mobile' devices and switch to the mobile site. Many such sites provide a link to go back to the 'full' site, if not, there's not a lot you can do except use a browser that can pretend not to be a mobile browser. -
Firefox doesn't accept some sites and IT'S FREEZING sometimes and you can't write anything or click anywhere...reaaly disaponting, I have to restart it and after a while same thing, I can't close any tab only by options close tab so you can't use Command Q or Command R for reloading...GRRRRRrrrr, hate this

How do you stop top sites from loading in safari
I have tried for days to stop "Top Sites" from loading in Safari 7.0
In my ~Library I have locked the:
Safari db
metadata db
etc.
There is no way I can find to stop these crap top sites from loading!!!!!!!!!:(
Anyone found a way to fix this?Never mind, I found out how to do it. However, you can't get rid of all the sites because in Safari 7.0, in the Preferences>General Tab, you can only change Top Sites to a minimum of six. So, you can't entirely get rid of them.

Firefox 33 and 34 - Some sites no longer correctly displayed (no style?)
Hi,
I'm using firefox on a iMac. After upgrading to firefox 33 (and 34) some sites are no longer showing correctly. Seems to se like a problem about style&stylesheet, because I see them as a simple list of items and with default formatting (like blue/purple color for links).
I started trying the basics, emptying my cache and then directly removing and reinstalling firefox, but nothing changed. (If I reinstall version 32 it does work).
Then, I tried doing what I found on the forum, like disabling hardware acceleration, zooming and dezooming, nostyle vs basestyle, but nothing.
I could even simply go back to firefox 32, but a couple of those sites are sites I directly own, so I need them to work in any case.

How do I stop PDF's from Opening inside Safari
Several versions back of Safari, I found out how to make PDF's download to the downloads folder or other preferred location (desktop for me) instead of opening inside a Safari window. As I recall, it actually had something to do with a setting in Adobe Reader. With the advent of Safari 7.0, I am now back to the "open inside Safari" behavior. I have searched these discussions, been through all of Reader's and Safari's settings and haven't been able to come up with the solution. Can someone lead me down the correct path? TIA

The site is likely geo-targeting your location from your ISP assigned IP Address. See the explanation here http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001043.htm or do a Google search for geo-targeting. -
How to remove sites when right-clicking Safari in the Dock?
Right clicking Safari in the Dock shows 3 sites visited awhile ago. There is a diamond shape before each. And each is repeated several times, 16 for one. I've cleared History, closed Safari, removed it from the Dock, restarted Safari. they're still there. Opening them and deleting just increases the amount.
I'm stymied.
Any help would be appreciated.I've resolved the issue myself.
First, let me clarify, each of these "sites" had several tabs.
Here's what worked: by Option-clicking on one closes all other tabs. Of course this can be done manually, closing each tab separately.
Once all but one tab is showing click the "close", red circle, button and the site deletes from the Safari list in the Dock.
Not sure why this anomaly happened but I know how to fix it if it should happen again.

Force new tab preference isn't stopping some links from opening windows?
I am using Firefox 4, the following happens even if all addons are disabled (Safe Mode). I have selected the option "Open new windows in a new tab instead" under Tabs in Firefox options. It seems the javascript call window.open is still able to bypass this preference.
As an example, the first link on this page still opens into a new window: http://www.javascript-coder.com/files/window-popup/javascript-window-open-example1.html
Is there a way I can get this into a tab? Is this intended? The context menu does not show an open in tab option. This preference seems to work for this instance in Firefox 3.6.15 (I get the content opened into a new tab) which I also have installed.
EDIT: Updated to release version above, without workaround, same issue as described.The pressure to mark things as solved doesn't change the fact that it isn't solved yet.

why doesn't the "zoom in/out" feature by pinching the trackpad on my mac work anymore with firefox? It worked about a month ago, and still works on Safari.
Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4 and later.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.

Can't stop PDF files from opening in Safari
I prefer pdf files to download rather than open in Safari. I had no trouble setting this up with Acrobat 5.0 and OSX 10.3. I now have AcrobatPro 8.0.0, Safari 2.0.4, and OSX 10.4.8.

Have a look at this MacosXHints thread. Besides, entering the suggested Terminal command, I think it's important to move the Adobe PDF plug-in out of the Internet Plug-ins folder.
Give it a try. You'll see there is a "reverse" terminal command if it doesn't work.
