I'm really interested in buying a Macbook. This will be my first Mac. I love the way they look and feel. I'm concerned with the size of everything on the Macbook. The overall size of the fonts in applications such as word, or safari was too small for me.
Can you change the size of the screen resolution in OSX like you can on Windows? In Windows doing this makes everything visually bigger.
Please say you can. I'm really wanting the Macbook as it would be great for for a student like me.

With an LCD, if you change the resolution, things will be bigger, but blurrier.
You can however keep the resolution of the LCD at its native resolution, giving the maximum picture quality, and then use tools, such as Tinkertool…

Hi. I am not technically proficient. I have somehow hit something that is making my email forwards and text to the printer way smaller than what is appearing on my screen. I have looked into everything I can think of in settings and outlook express. If you have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them. I assume that one click and I'll be back to "normal", but can't figure out which darned click that would be. Thanks.

Have you checked Outlook's font preferences? You can change to size under General Preferences>Fonts. You can also change font sizes by using ⌘shift+

Hello -- I have assembled a movie in iMovie, and then I went to burn it to a DVD using iDVD. I am using the theme "Wedding - bronze," I believe it is called. Some of the titles in the scenes are overlapping into the scene to the right, and also, sometimes, the titles that are right above the arrows (for going back or ahead scene-selection-wise) are overlapping the arrow. I cannot seem to find any instructions regarding how you change the font size for the scene names. (Or changing the font, for that matter..) How do you change the size of the font when naming the scenes in iDVD?

Should I match STD preview size to native screen resolution or the resolution I am actually using?

My iMac 27" monitor is 2560 pixels wide but I run it on a screen resolution of 2048 x 1152. Would it be a waste for me to set the Lightroom Standard Preview Size to size to the setting of 2880? I am thinking I should set the Standard Preview Size to 2048 to save space on my hard drive. What do you think?
When I set my monitor to the native resolution the text on menus etc is pretty hard to see with my tired old eyes. Is there a disadvantage to using 2048 x 1152 on my 27" monitor when using Lightroom?

If I were you, I'd use Jeffrey Friedl's Online Lightroom Configurator to bump the font-size of the text, and leave the monitor resolution at 2560 (and standard previews at 2880). Unless of course you can't see image detail all that well either with the increased resolution. There may be some text that jf's configurator can't reach - dunno, but it may be worth a shot..
If bumping font size (and monitor rez) doesn't pan out, then the answer is yes: 2048 is sufficient resolution for standard previews, at a monitor rez of 2048.

Can you change multiple titles under "names" removing part of the title, but leaving some unaltered?

I have just uploaded severa audio books into itunes, all the information howerv is listed under the "names" Heading. so under names it goes "name of book - name of chapter." And severaly of the books and talks have 50+ chapters. Is there a way to batch them together and delete multiple "name of book" parts, but leaving the name of the chapter. Doing this manually could take hours, and be potentially disasterious if I mislable or miss some chapters. Thank you

I can not see my full mailbox list, but if the font size would be smaller this could be solved.
In itself I find the fonts too large.

Try this...Go to System Preferences the select "General" and set "Sidebar icon size" to "Small" as shown below, then close. That should do the trick as its universally applied. I had same problem in Lion.
I also use the paid for 'Tinker Tool System" in which you can change many things so long as you are confident but that's a personal choice.

Bookmarks opens in a window 2/3's the size of my screen since the latest update. Now the first bookmark I scroll over covers the whole window instead of too the side and I can't close it without closing the bookmarks window

I kept getting a reminder I had a Firefox update I needed to install. I did last night but never opened Firefox again till this morning. Now when I click on bookmarks for the drop down it opens a window almost 2/3's the size of my screen instead of the narrow window it has in the past. Now as soon as I move my mouse over or close to any bookmark it opens up that bookmark in the window and I can't access the bookmark I want. I have to close the whole window and then be very careful as I move my mouse to the correct bookmark. In the past with the narrow window it opened the bookmarks to the side and only after you clicked on them. I have tried to resize the window but can't find any option to do so. Also couldn't find an option that would let me change it so a bookmark had to be clicked on. If this can't be changed I will be removing Firefox. This is too inconvenient for me.

Take it to your local Apple Store or AASP, it's covered by a 1 year hardware warranty. If you have AppleCare then give them a call but I'm pretty sure they will advise the same. If you have not purchased AppleCare yet please do, this will extend the warranty to 3 years however it MUST be purchased within the first year of ownership. Let it go 366 days and you are out of luck. AppleCare will also include telephone support too.

I downloaded Tinkertool. Found the font section and increased the size of most selections. The only thing that changed that I can see is the window label. The apple line, bookmarks line, the tool bar in safari are all the same---font size of about 4. Found the finder "show view options" but that didn't seem to change anything either. I'll keep working. Restarted all apps after changes as well.

The Workspace size is fixed, 16,384 points.
I am afraid you will have to work in a suitable scale, which could be 1:2, 1:4, 1:10, or whatever is most convenient.

No, there isn't. The way you're using the file is not recommended. You
should use a review tracker to avoid getting in the way of one another.

If you are having trouble reading your texts you can increase the font size until it becomes clear. Put in a feature request for the colour change though, it won't happen unless people ask for it.

Might not make any difference, but thought I would give you the specifics just in case. When I pull up the title window to add a title to my clip, the image is about the size of a postage stamp. I had to reinstall the program on my computer. I just upgraded to Windows 7, and I now have a 64 bit system. When I booted up PPCS4, I assumed that my settings would be the same as they were before when I had Vista installed and didn't bother to check them when I started a new project. Well, they were not. I also added a TV tuner card to my computer. I now can watch HD TV on my computer. I suppose that it is possible that somehow PPCS4 noticed that, and set my default settings to HD, rather than NTSC DV. I just merrily went along clicking the OK button and started editing. When I start a new project now, I select NTSC DV and the Title window works just fine, and exactly the way I expect it to.
I just received Jeff Bellune's book Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 in the mail and will be totally immersed in Encore studies today. With all of his children, I don't see how he had time to write it, but I'm glad that he did. I also ordered a book entitled Designing Menus with Encore DVD. I know that it was written for an earlier version than CS4, but I will trust what you said about that. Many things are the same with some minor variations due to upgrades in the program. The basic ideas don't change, but how you accomplish them can, and usually do over time.

That is an odd one. The Title should be the same Frame Size as your Project/Sequence. What is it's Frame Size? Also, are you perhaps doing a Title based on an older Template, that was done for a different Frame Size?
What happens if you choose Title>New Title>Default Still?

Mostly it's to call in for radio contests. The Iphone is really good at making a quick call, but it seems to timeout after 15-20 rings. I realise this is a small thing, but free tickets is free tickets.
