Switching accounts

Hi Brenda,
How are you? You may remember me based on the email correspondence below as you helped me move my late Husbands Apple account over the my account. I was hoping you could help me again with a similar issue as my iPad is also linked to Fabian's account and I am not quite sure how to sign out of his iCloud account so that I can use my *************** account to use my iPad.
The following is where I am having trouble:
When I go to the "iCloud" section in Settings on the iPad it shows Fabians account but this is shown in grey so I cannot click on this to change the account 2. It will not allow me to back up the iPad as it requires the password to this account as above 3. When I plug the iPad into my computer and go into iTunes it says that the iPad is linked to my account  and I cannot find anywhere in the settings an option to delete the existing iCloud account so I can sync with my account nor can I find any mention of ****************4. When I try to back-up from iTunes it will not work (prob. because I don't have Fabian's iCloud account password)
I actually just found an option to delete fabian's iCloud account and I guess then I can add my gmail account, however my main concern is that it says I will lose all my Photos and document from iCloud, especially as I cannot do a back-up before I delete the account.
Can you please assist?

However, to answer your question, if you wish to change iCloud accounts on the iPad, you start by saving your photo stream photos to the camera roll.  To do this, open the my photo stream album inside the photos app, then tap Edit, tap the photos to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.  Then they will remain in the camera roll when you delete the existing iCloud account.  Documents and data cannot be moved to the new account so they will be deleted from the iPad when you delete the account.  If you are not syncing iWork documents with iCloud you don't need to be concerned by this.  If you are, you can download these documents from icloud.com using your computer by signing into the account and clicking on iWork.
When you're done with that, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, and choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (the data will still be in icloud should you ever need to access it again in the future).  Then sign in with the new iCloud ID to access the iCloud data in the new account.
If you wish to back up the iPad before proceeding, you can back it up to the computer it is normally synced with by connecting it to the computer, opening iTunes, clicking on the name of the iPad in iTunes, going to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and clicking on Back Up Now.  Also go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer any apps and other purchased media to the iTunes library.  If you want to keep this backup and not allow it to be overwritten, after backing up go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices (Edit>Preferences>Devices on a PC), control-click on the backup on the Device Backups list and choose Archive.

    I personally don't reccomend the use of "corecenter" and I don't have a solution, but what it sounds like to me is a poorly scripted peice of software. See, when you "switch" accounts, but don't log off, some of the registry remains, and possibily the software doesn't see that you have switched users, so it's looking around for something that isn't there.
    So in other words, I don't like corecenter, most of us around here use speedfan.
    So if anyone knows of a solution....

    I had a similar issue but mine said cannot verify username and password as it was aparently incorrect!
    To resolve this i went to generals: App store and clicked on my apple id. when a pop up shows click on view Applie id account. There select the payment process and select NONE in the type of card instead of your visa or mastercard. save it and then you can try getting into facetime., It should be good. It worked for me. Good luck. Lemme know how it goes

  • I have some residual songs from a US account that I want to upgrade to plus but it says I have to wait 6 months before switching accounts back

    So a while back I used an itunes voucher to buy songs but it was with a US account (my brother in-laws) Now I want to upgrade that part of my libray to itunes+.
    I have allready done this but only for my UK account. To do the US account I would have to wait six months before switching back to the UK one I think.

  • Switching accounts is extremely slow in Leopard

    I've just updated my iMac to Snow Leopard and all seemed work fine until i decide to switch to another account I have on my Mac: logging out and logging into an account is extremely slow and seems to freeze leopard (it requires about 2 minutes to switch and there are no possibility to control the machine). Someone experienced the same problem or can help me?

    The second disk is the one where I've Time Machine configured to start backups. It looks like Snow isn't able to correctly access the disk. I've never experienced something like that with Leopard. I will try to initialize the disk again with Snow and let you know soon.
    Anyway, I'll check inside my console again if there are more errors on third part software.

    Okay so I have been sharing an icloud account with my friend for a couple of years but I have my own account that I use for all my devices except for saving like contacts to the cloud. If I switch and start saving to my account will I lose my contacts?

    You will if you don't migrate the data to the new account.  To migrate to a new account, start by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; your friend's devices won't be effected by this), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password when prompted (if using iOS 7).  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.

    I switched internet service providers. In Mail I went to Preferences and deleted the old account. I didn't realize this would cause my old e-mails that were still in the inbox and sentmail to disappear. I see that some attachments that came with old message are now in the trash.     Before deleting an account in Tiger Mail, the following warning message is provided:
    Are you sure you want to remove the (account type here) account “XXXXXXXXXX”?
    This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Copies of messages on the mail server, if they exist, are not affected.
    This is usually ignored or not completely understood but is based on the Mail.app filing structure so now the long winded answer for the reason.
    Many other email clients utilize a single large database file which is not dependent on individual account and associated mailbox filing. When creating an account in Mail, an account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) is created in the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail using the Finder. For POP type accounts, the following mailbox (mbox) folders are created within the account named folder when the function is used by the account: INBOX.mbox, Drafts.mbox, Sent Messages.mbox, Deleted Messages.mbox and Junk.mbox (when Junk mail is set to automatic). The mbox folders within the account named folder represent the account named mailboxes under In, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk (when Junk mail is set to automatic) in the Mail.app mailboxes drawer.
    When deleting an account in Mail, the account named folder at Home > Library > Mail is deleted at that time and as the warning message indicates, the associated account mailboxes within the account named folder are also deleted. You must select OK after the warning message appears.
    It would be preferable for the account named folder to be moved to the hard drive Trash can which requires an additional step to delete but this is not what occurs.
    To have any hope of recovering your data, you need to immediately stop using your system and then purchase a copy of a recovery tool such as Tech Tool Pro (Micromat), Data Rescue (Prosoft Engineering) or FileSalvage (subrosasoft) which have data recovery tools. I've used FileSalvage with good results.

    The chances generally aren't really good even so, but short of sending your drive to a data recovery service (expensive), such utilities are your only hope.
    Note that the more you use your system before you attempt recovery, the more likely it is that the system will overwrite the sections of the drive where the data you want to recover is stored, rendering it unrecoverable by any means. You should therefore stop using the system completely until you get and try to use one of the file recovery tools.
    This also emphasizes the importance of maintaining a regular backup of the Mail folder and other important data.

  • Switching accounts to sub accounts on Master Account

    Not sure if this is the right community but I'll ask any way. I set up a Master Account on the PSN for the PS4. I planned to add my kids accounts as sub accounts when they got the PS4 on Christmas. However due to the PSN being down that day it didn't happen the way I planned and my kids formed accounts of their own which of course are not sub accounts. So I would like to know if I could switch their accounts to sub accounts and how do I do this?

    Fast user switching is on... I use the Name reference but I've tried switching to icon with the same result. If the a account I'm switching to is not logged in I get a blank Blue screen for about 2 seconds then the desktop of the account. If the account is already logged in then from the login window (all accounts have passwords) it just switches directly to the desktop.
    I have spaces turned on on my main account however none of the other accounts do, the same thing happens regardless of which account you are switching from or to.
    If you hadn't said it was working for you I would have believe they just pulled it from Leopard.

    So I am currently on my parents family share account and I want to switch from that to my Fiancé's account. I am due for an upgrade mid-November and I was wondering if it's possible for me to switch over when signing a new contract. My only concern is what will happen to the remaining 4 months on my parents account. Do they disappear? Or would they have to finish paying for my line for the remaining 4 months?

    Upgrade while on your parent's account. Sign the new contract, THEN have your fiance do an Assumption of Liability for your line. It will be transferred from your parent's account to your fiance's account, and your contract term will follow.

  • Switching accounts in email composition window with tab key?

    I recently switched from an iMac G5 to an Intel iMac. In the previous version of Mail, I was able to to switch between accounts when composing an email by tabbing to the "Accounts" field and using my up or down arrow keys. Now that I've switched to the Intel iMac, I've noticed that the tab key will move the cursor from the subject line, immediately down to the composition field, skipping the Accounts field completely. Is there some setting I've missed, or do I possibly have a corrupt version of Mail?

    Ok, I don't have an Intel Mac, but I don't think that is the issue. Open Keyboard and Mouse System Preferences and choose the keyboard tab. Select the Keyboard Shortcuts tab and select the option to Tab between all controls. Now you should be able to tab to the accounts pane. I think you may have had this set in the previous version, but it is now off.

    ( i respect adobe) . I tried Photoshop and i logged in with the bad email and when my trial ended i uninstalled cloud. Now i want After Effects but when i get cloud it tells me to verify my email and that they sent me a verification to the email i cant log in to. I want to switch the account in the app to my main one and use that but it doesnt let me. Can you help me fix this.

    Close the Creative Cloud application if it's running.
    Navigate to the OOBE folder.
    Windows: [System drive]:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    Mac OS: /User/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE folder
    Rename the opm.db file to opm_old.db
    Launch Creative Cloud

    I have a membership with Creative Cloud and would like to add Captivate because I want to get into eLearning. Unfortunately that is not possible as far as I'm aware because Captivate is not available in Creative Cloud. So I'd like to switch my accounts from Creative Cloud to Captivate eLearning Suite 6.1. I don't want to keep both since it would duplicate the Adobe products I currently use, such as Photoshop, Flash, and Acrobat. Is it possible to switch my present account to Captivate eLearning Suite? Or do I need to cancel one, then sign-up for the other?

    I tried your steps, but i have no success. After i launch Photoshop in step four, the EULA dialog popus up. I can then use Photoshop. But after i close and reopen it, the dialog extend my membership is shown up.
    If i then click on "License this software" it can use Photoshop until i close it. The message is "Creative Cloud membership is active now ...."
    I tried also the button "retry" then a message shows up "Thanks, your abonnement for Adobe Photoshop CS6 is active. You can click on next ...". Then the dialog extend my membership shows up again and i can't use Photoshop.
    Sorry for the translation of the dialogs, i use the german version, so i don't know the exact words in English.
    I think i have to contact Adobe support or cancel my new membership in the next days.

    Not sure what country the OP is from.
    It seems as if you can't cancel your Creative Cloud subscription online via the account configuration from every national Adobe website. I just had that problem with the German Adobe website - which is full of information how cancellation is supposed to work, but in reality it simply did not work as per that description.
    Finally I gave up and called Adobe's German support on phone. Not even Adobe's own support agent did know how to cancel online, as he tried to direct me to the very same futile attempts I just tried to no avail. We came to the conclusion that there is simply no way for German Adobe customers to cancel the subscription online: You can book Creative Cloud quickly and easily via the website, but to cancel you have to call Adobe's support on phone.
    I have a feeling that might apply for customers from other nationalities, too.
    So: Check back with your national support hotline in case the online cancellation does not work.
