Switching accts in Google Talk

I have two seperate gmail accounts synced to my incredible. When using Google Talk to chat, I am only able to chat with contacts from one of my gmail accounts. How can I switch to the other account to chat with my different contacts for that account?
I have tried sign off of chat hoping it would give me a seperate screen to log into but nothing comes up. Please help. Thanks

Hi,
The answer is still no.
I am not sure the PC GoogleTalk app or the Web Mail Message centre allows you to be Invisible (i.e Do Google do it because it will be a flag at the server that you are setting)

  • Imessages on macbook not working. All contacts/conversations that used imessage are now switched to google talk/jabber.

imessage on my macbook has always had a few bugs...it never recieved imessages sent from other friends with iphones right away, maybe upon next start up it would, but the messages would all come out of order.  It could send out messages that would then also show up on my iphone 5s.
As of today, all my conversations that were going on my imessages no longer have the contact names associated with them, just the phone numbers, and they show as offline.  The text field shows that the conversations are in Google Talk (which is offline) but each of those phone numbers is associated to someone I know with an iphone and they should be imessages, not google talk buddies.  I don't even have all those numbers stored in my google accounts.
I have tried altering settings both on my phone and my laptop so that only my imessages account is logged in or active and have deselected google talk, but none of the contacts come back up.  Icloud is set to sync contacts with my phone and with imessages.
How can I get my contacts back under imessages?

    Hi,
I have seen this with a actual Jabber account that was using Facebook chat as the Buddy list.
This seemed to loose the Real Names from the Contacts app  even though the details still seemed to be in that app.
The issue was traced in that case to an issue with the Facetime server (the Facebook Chat server is supposed to check with the main server and uses this to verify "real names" and this can bypass the Mac's own Contacts app if you are not syncing with Facebook.
Have you tried restarting the computer ?

  • Google talk video plugin does not work any more with Firefox 4. When clicking on the video chat icon, I am repeatedly asked to install the plugin, and it never works.

Google talk audio/video plugin used to work fine on Firefox 3, but does not work anymore on Firefox 4. Every time I click on the video chat icon on google talk, I am asked to install the plugin, even if I have already installed it before. The plugin works properly on the latest version of IE on the same PC.
Thanks for your help. I do not want to switch to Chrome or Opera, but if this bug is not fixed, I will have to.

Not sure if installing IE 9 did it or not but I now see the camera in IE, FF and Chrome. Could be Facebook fixed the problem also.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • In Messages, is it possible to see when a person is typing for Google Talk account?

In Adium, when in a Google Talk account you can see when a person is typing with a little ... indicator, so you know to wait.
In Messages, that's also how it works with AIM chats - you see a chat bubble indicating the person on the other end is typing.
But in Messages, when in a Google Talk account I'm not seeing any such indicator, so I don't know whether to wait or if the person has simply gone away. Is it possible to get such an indicator in Google Talk inside Messages? If not, I'll just switch back to Adium.
    Thanks,

  • Imessage google talk video/audio chat

I'm having trouble getting the video chat for google talk working in iMessage (for the video conferencing feature). When I videocall a friend the video preview window opens but it keeps saying "waiting for response". My friend however never receives the invitation.
    Anyone else having that issue?

    Hi,
A Google Account on Messages uses port 5223 (using SSL ) to Login.
The Visible Invite the Buddy  sees is sent on Port 5678  (it arrives at his end and if he replies that is notes back to your end on port 5678)
At the same time as he accepts the SIP process starts (Session Initiation Protocol)
This send another Invite (behind the Scenes ) and it is this one that the Window is Waiting for the Response to.
This behind the scenes invite is on port 16402 as first choice.
If the SIP complete the connection the A/V chat is also on port 16402 in version 4 or iChat and higher.
Things that could have changed since you used iChat 6
The Upgrade may mean that Messages is not allowed in the Mac Firewall (System Preference >Security & Privacy > Firewall > Unlock then Firewall Options)
Messages should be in the List if th Firewall Is ON
Also If On the Allow Signed Software should be enabled.
The Stealth option should not be ON.
    Next check your router.
(this seems less likely as you can Video Chat between two Computers behind the router.
    Check it is doing UPnP
Make sure it is not blocking the IP your friend's computer has been given.
    His ID
It should be a Google MaIl ID (No other Google ID will do.)
He needs to have Enabled Talk on his Google Account settings.
He needs to double chech the name he is using.  The Mail App seems to allow you to "switch" between @gmail.com and @googelmail.com but iChat and Messages (or rather the GoogleTalk server) is more fussy about this.

  • Ichat not communicating with google talk

My iChat suddenly stopped working with google talk with a message stating that "iChat can't communicate with the Jabber Account [email protected]: could not communicate to host xmpp.l.google.com".  I have tried to delete my google acct and add it back in but with little success.  Other things I have tried are changing the server settings, clicking the SSL box on and off, restarting my mac, and turning my Wifi off and on.  I tried to open up the Jabber Account on my roommate's computer and it worked fine.  It is unusual as my Jabber Account was working fine yesterday and then it suddenly stopped working.  Please help!
    Thank you!

  • DM Removes Google Talk when adding other applications

I installed Google Talk directly to the phone via the blackberry website. The problem I have is that if I try to install another program through DM 4.7, it removes the Google Talk modules from the phone.GoogleTalk does not appear in my application list on the phone or in DM.
Anyone have any idea what is going on?
Is there a way to backup the Google Talk modules? I tried 3rd party applications backup in the device switch wizard but that only backs up every other software except Google Talk!
    My device software is 4.5.0.160

  • Echo during Google Talk call

    Hi all,
I've recently started using Arch as my only OS. Everything is working fine except for Google Talk calls.
Whenever I start a voice chat with somebody, the person I talk to complains about echo. They hear themselves when they talk. I've tested that and it's true. I suppose I need an echo cancellation filter on my side. However, I haven't found how to set up that in the wiki or BBS.
I don't know whether switching to PulseAudio from ALSA would help. Maybe it's an application-level issue. So far, I've tested both Pidgin and Empathy. Both produce the same horrible echo. Perhaps the Google Talk browser plugin would work better, but I'd prefer not to use it as it's proprietary.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the suggestions and sorry for the late reply.
Unfortunately headphones are not an acceptable solution in my case. I intend to use Google Talk to replace Skype at work for voice calls. Sometimes there are a few people talking at once from my computer.
ngoonee wrote:Just realized on the pulseaudio ML that pulse has an echo-cancellation module, you may want to check that out. I always use headphones anyway, so I have not played with it before.
That's right. In fact I tried this before posting, but I wasn't successful. Apparently there's a PulseAudio virtual device that filters echo. It's simply loaded by doing:
    pactl load-module module-echo-cancel
I'll try again and post my findings.

  • A1 -- Google Talk (chat) does not work for me

I have not been able to get Google Talk to work on my A1 tablet since I got it.  The tablet does almost everything I want it to and I've been able to figure out and fix all the bugs so far except for Google Talk.
When I try to start the app, I immediately get a force close and have no other choices--not even to report.  I can't figure it out.  Has anyone else had this problem?  I appreciate any help.
Also, will your Google Maps continue to work once you've left a WiFi zone?  Like if you change course and it needs to reroute?
    Thanks,
    Jeff Voegtlin

I turned on Talkback to see if I can reproduce this, I understand that when I turned it on the following cannot be turned on at the same time:
air gesture, aire view, assistant menu, smart screen, interaction control. multi window, turn off all sounds, direct pen input, palm motion and one-handed operation.
In the url bar there is no autocomplete, but if you tap over the suggestions on the newtab page that is below it will read the highlighted suggestion. However for elements in an html page I could not highlight or select the dropdown menu items as well.
Is this an android bug as well?

  • Jabber and Google Talk Issues

I use a Google Talk account, and I was delighted to see that iChat was compatible with it. However, one day it stopped working and I saw my account was deleted. I went to re-create it and Jabber and Google Talk are no longer choices I can choose from. I can see them, but I can't actually select them. Any help would be great, because a lot of my friends are Google Talkers.

Have you Enable Parental Controls on this Mac User Account ?
Have you set Parental Controls on another User Account and set iChat up with the same ID ?
(Have you used the same ID/Screen Name on another computer that has Parental Controls ?)
If you have and you have not allowed the Jabber Buddies to be listed or have not set the iChat part up in the first place you will have issues as Jabber (and therefore Googletalk) and Bonjour can be Blocked.
This more effects Leopard than it does Snow Leopard but that was why I hinted at other computers because it blocks the Buddies by Flagging them on the Server (this does not explain why you cannot access the choice in the current iChat)

  • Getting Truphone to work with Google Talk to make a free call

I'm trying to make a free call from my iPhone to my home computer using Truphone.
I installed Truphone on my iPhone and I have a Google Talk account on my Mac using Jabber in iChat. I'm trying to get the two the communicate with each other to make a phone call. Truphone requires me to call Google Talk using this number/code: [email protected] to invite it to engage in a phone call with the iPhone. Once the invite is accepted, then it will work - it says. Problem is that i cannot add this letters ([email protected]) on my iPhone to the mobile number field, only numbers. I am able to do it on my Mac and sync it to my iPhone, but for some reason the @ symbol gets dropped out of it and it won't work otherwise.
Has anyone had this same issue and was able to get it to work? Or...has anyone been able to get Truphone to be able to call their Mac using wifi to make a free call?

I sent a question to Truphone regarding this issue and this was their response. Bummer.
    Dear K D,
Unfortunately it is not currently possible to dial SIP addresses
([email protected]) using the Truphone iPhone client. This includes calling
    Google Talk addresses.
The Truphone service for the iPhone is an outbound calling solution. When
you're connected to Truphone you're able to make cheap Truphone calls over the
Internet. Please note that inbound calls will be received via your mobile/cell
    network and not via Truphone.
New Truphone accounts for the iPhone won’t be assigned a separate Truphone
number. Instead your outgoing caller id will be presented as your
mobile/cellular number that you entered during the installation process.
Calls to other Truphone users who are using Nokia devices are free when both
    parties are online.
If you have any further queries please reply to this email for assistance.

  • Login ID or password is incorrect for Google Talk in iMessage

    Hi all,
Maybe this question has already occured in prior discussions, however, I cannot find any solutions yet. I can login to my gmail account, can receive emails from Mail on my Mac with no problems. However, I cannot connect to google talk in iMessage where it asks me for the password over and over again. What can I change or can anybody help me out to fix that problem?
    Thank you very much.
    Immanuel

iMessage is still not connecting to Google Talk, and I dont think that Google need more than a day to fix that problem. Any other suggestions? I am 100% sure that my ID and password are correct but iMessage keeps on asking me over and over again that those information will be wrong.
    See picture below.
    Thank you

  • How do I get google talk to accept my password when using imessage?

I have both a MacBook Air and Pro using iOS X - Maverick.  For the longest I have not been able to use iMessage with Google Talk.  I need to be on Google Talk for work and decided to set it up.  I set it up, but when I shut it down and then re-open it, Google Talk will not accept my password.  When I go to Google, it indicate suspicious behavior.  I can't find anywhere that will allow me the option allow imessage to use google talk in my google settings.  Please help.

    Hi 2douglas,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the password is being rejected. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • Is there a way to see Google Talk conversations in iMessage on my iOS device

My Apple ID and Phone # conversations are showing up great on my Mac, Phone and IPad but on my Desktop I also have Google Talk contacts in iMessage. Those only show up on my Mac. Is there a way for those conversations to also show up on my iPhone and iPad?

    Well, blerg!
    Thanks anyway.
I haven't thought it all out, but I assume there is some issue with data usage when outside of wifi or something. Possibly it's that iMessages are suppose to be encrypted and that can't always be the case if the pathway is Google Talk for certain conversations?
Otherwise it would make sense to handle it the same way Messages on the desktop does.

  • Why doesn't the App Store have a Google Talk client FROM Google?

An IM client without push notifications isn't an IM client. I don't know why a person wouldn't just use email as opposed to a Safari-based IM client on a device that can't run Safari+anything (or when the device is idle). Web-based Google Talk is pointless when iPhone user A has to call iPhone user B and say, "hey, let's chat in Google Talk! go to your Google Talk web site and let's start!". just ridiculous.
What's just as silly is expecting people to give a 3rd party your Google Account credentials. From looking at the forums, plenty of people do just that which blows my mind. Think for 10 minutes all your personal information someone has if they have your Google Account credentials. More and more people are nervous at what Google might do with that info and I'm expected to share my credentials with a 3rd party I've never heard of??
What's even more laughable are those that give their "Google Apps" credentials to those 3rd party IM services which is basically for those that use Google for their corporate email, calendar, docs, internal web sites, etc. I mean, that's grounds for dismissal in most organizations (the bottomline is that there is no Google Talk capability for the iPhone if you are a Google Apps customer, for reasons of practicality and corporate compliancy).
Aside from blowing off steam, I'd like to know who is holding up Google from releasing a Google Talk app for the iPhone that has push notification? Is it Google that's uninterested or Apple that prohibiting them? From what little I've found and from where these two are seeming to part ways, it looks like it's Apple holding up Google from releasing this app. If that's the case, I'd like someone to confirm so I (and hopefully others) can start complaining to Apple. Right now this is the biggest reason I'm waiting for at&t to offer an Android-based device instead of buying my first iPhone. I'm tired of waiting but if Apple is holding Google at bay just for an IM client, I can see the writing on the walls and want no part of an Apple world devoid of Google apps. I just soon go with Android and benefit from the software developer that's developing the most useful apps available (google).

    Official word from Google rep:
"This limitation is not because of Google's relationship with Apple and Apple is not thwarting Google from delivering a GTalk solution"
So my theory gets flushed down the toilet apparently. Oh well!
