Switching computers, is it possible to transfer all my song ratings?

I am in the process of swapping all my content on to a new laptop, I have transferred my mp3 files across but would also like to keep the ratings I painstakingly amasses through the years - this is important because I ahve a number of playlists set up through ratings. Is it possible to copy them as well?

See here for Moving Everything in iTunes to the New computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
Backup iTunes to an External Drive

An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.

  • Is it possible to transfer all files from one Apple ID to another

    Hello,
For work I currently use an iPad Air (iOS 8.1.3) and just recently upgraded to a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.10.2) . The only issue is that I will be using a different Apple ID on the MacBook then I was using on the iPad. My question is, is it possible to transfer all of my pages documents from one Apple ID to another all at one time or will I have to manually share each document with myself. If there is a way, would it be possible on the iPad app, the MacBook app or on the iCloud website.
Thanks for your time and help

No, it is not possible. All purchased items under one Apple ID are permanently connected to it. They cannot be transferred to another Apple ID. You can, however, repurchase the items under your new Apple ID.
You can always call Apple to see if they can be of help.

  • Is it possible to transfer all music from an i-pod classic onto the computer's i-tunes platform by syncing or any other means??

Is it possible to transfer all music from an i-pod classic onto the computer's i-tunes platform by syncing or any other means??

If at all possible, keep the pc alive.  You will need a place to backup your stuff that will not go to the cloud.  If your pc supports the current version of I tunes, then load it up and make that your central storage place.   If your problem is simply lack of disk space on the pc, external USB drives are pretty cheap.
In any event, you will need I tunes to get the non purchased music o to your pad, so you will need a pc at some point.

ps again. i received a new ipod nano a few days ago and will be using that instead of my 5th generation one, but the 5th gen. one still holds all my songs!!HELP PLEASE!!i know my problem is big

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod.
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I lost my iPod touch and now have a new one.  Is there a way to transfer all the songs on have in iTunes onto the new iPod?

I lost my iPod touch and bought a new one?  Is there a way to transfer all the songs I have in iTunes onto the new iPod?  I am scared I will lose it all when I sync the new one or that I have to start all over.   Please help!!

You can do better than that. You can click on the Restore button that appears under your device in iTunes. This will restore your iPod to factory settings as if it were fresh out of the box. But don't worry. By doing a restore, you will then be given the option to "Restore from Backup." This will allow you to restore the state of your previous iPod!!

  • I have over 16,000 songs in my iTunes library so I manually manage the music on all my devices. I bought a new iPod to replace an older one. I'd like to transfer all 900 songs to my new device without having to handpick each song. Is there a way to do it?

No. I have quite a few more 16,000, so I don't manually manage. Making playlists for each device makes things much easier to organize. You can create regular lists of essential tracks and smart playlists to automatically catch new content, top rated, most played etc. If you'd done it this way all along configuring a new or restored device would be the work of moments.

  • I connected my new iphone 4 to itunes but now it wont recognise my old 3gs. My name doesnt appear on the left. i want to transfer all my songs to my new one but cant sync now. can anyone help

i connected my new iphone 4 to itunes before backing up my old one but now it wont recognise my old 3gs. My name doesnt appear on the left. i want to transfer all my songs to my new one but cant sync now. can anyone help

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • I had to reinstall iTunes, and now I can't transfer all my songs!!!!

Hello everyone, this is my first and hopefully only post, assuming that I have no more problems with my iTunes/iPod.
Ok, I recently had to have a new hard drive installed in my computer, and I got it back today. I had to reinstall iTunes, and after doing so I tried to transfer all the songs from my iPod to my new iTunes. All of the songs that I purchased from iTunes transferred without a hitch. I have many songs that I've copied from my CD collection on my iPod, however, and none of these will transfer to my computer now. Can someone please tell me how I can get these songs from my iPod to iTunes without going back and recopying every single CD I own?? Thanks in advance!!

Is it possible to uncheck all the songs in my library without having to do it individually ?

Select the items you want to uncheck.  In your case, click on any item and then do a Select All (from the Edit menu or Cmd-A on keyboard).  Right-click on selection and select Uncheck Selection.

  • Hi, can someone tell how i can transfer all my songs that i had on my ipod to my cp?

pls i need help how can i transfer all my songs that i have on my ipod to my cp

Only content purchased from iTunes Store is reverse syncable through iTunes.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
If you are looking to move non-purchased content from your device back to your computer you will need to research third-party programs available on the web.
These programs are not endorsed or encouraged by Apple however, so choose wisely if you do go that route.
I myself have used PhoneView in the past with success, but that was over a year ago, not sure how the program works nowadays.

  • Itunes changed nearly all my song ratings

Plugged in my ipod to charge and update library and found out later nearly all my song ratings have changed. When i plugged in my ipod i noticed the set up ipod screen came up which i thought was wierd so it might be connected to that. Either way songs i have not even listened to yet have been rated. Nearly all my ratings have changed and this is super annoying because it takes a while to rate everything. If anyone can help or tell me how to fix this it would be very nice
