Switching computers, Office version and OS - now what?

The computer I sync'ed my Palm TX with died and stayed dead a month ago.
Been living withoiut sync since.
That computer used XP Pro/Office 2003 and Intellisync
I don't seem to have the install file for Intellisync in backup, but have found it on the web v 5.?
I sync'ed to/from Outlook using intellisync
New computer is Vista/Office 2007
Options appear to be to install intellisync on new computer if Vista will so permit and pray hard.
there is a post on another board that suggests using Palm 4.14E vs. Desktop 6.2 will make this work.
Alternatively, buy KeySuite, don't install intellisync and use that system instead, just ignoring the native contacts/notes/calendar/tasks applications.
(Ah, if this is the way to go, how do I clear the native from the native applications for contacts, etc. ??)
I would be grateful for any/all sage advice. I am (literally) in the middle of nowhere and there are ZERO Palm savvy folks to back me up and I am fairly clueless at this.

No, not necessarily. There are 2 versions of Vista the 32bit and the 64bit.
Typically new laptops have 64bit.
If you have the 64bit version, you can sync via bluetooth. There is one caveat here, if the laptop is a Toshiba with built-in bluetooth, it will not work. We have found the Toshiba bluetooth stack will not work for Bluetooth hotsync. Is your laptop a Toshiba?
Palm desktop 6.2 will work on Vista but we have seen data loss in calendar and contacts while using Palm Desktop. If you are using Outlook, there are no reported data loss issues so you should be OK. Palm desktop 6.2 has the Outlook 2007 conduits installed so all you need to do is select Outlook when installing Palm desktop. You do not need 3rd party software to sync with Outlook unless you have subfolders in the main PIM categories, contacts, calendar, tasks and notes. If you have subfolders you want to sync to, you will need a 3rd party program. Pocket mirror by Chapura has that function, here is a link to the site, http://www.chapura.com/pm_standard.php
There is no information regarding USB drivers for 64bit Vista. You will need to check the support page, downloads, for your device on the Palm website for any updates.
If you want to use a 4.x version of Palm desktop, you will need to install the outlook 2007 conduits from the support page for your TX.

Tell us some version numbers please, of your Mac OS versions and iTunes versions on both computers (two eMacs yes?).

So, by now you have probably guessed what my issue is. I'll try to be brief ...
I installed the 64-bit trial version of MS Visio Professional 2013 on my Vaio laptop, which incorporates a 64-bit processor. So, naturally I thought that I would have to install the 64-bit version of MS Visio onto my laptop. I filled out the registration
form and finally let the download take place. Keep in my mind, I'm downloading the wrong bit version (apparently). The download finished and I automatically started the set-up, or so I thought. The set-up had given me an error message notifying me that the
set-up process could not continue because of the fact that my currently installed MS Office 365 was a 32-bit version app.
I don't know why that mattered considering Visio doesn't even come bundled with Office 365, but I figured there has to be a logical reason, right?
Anyway, back to point--
I then decided I would download and install the correct version of Visio for my 60-day trial. The page I was on had already refreshed or something had made it reset the dynamic content that had been displayed before, showing me the product key. So, I just
decided to re-submit another "registration" in order to download the correct version of Visio (x86)--so that happened. I was given yet another product key and the download finished. I clicked on the active download link available on my FF browser,
which essentially started the set-up. The same process as the first time; the files were extracted and this time all had seemed to be going fine for the installation. I was about three-fourths of the way done when the second error message was displayed and
the set-up "rolled back"--whatever that means. The error message said it couldn't continue because I had already tried to install a trial version or something of the sort previously.
Please keep in mind that I am basing this from memory and that the actual error messages were a bit more specific on what they had an issue with, but I think what I had written was more or less the gist of it. I know, I should have taken a screen-shot, but
that didn't occur to me till after the issue had arisen...
Anyway, I hope I can get some help on this as I'll be needing Visio for my database class.
My current community college doesn't offer downloads for off-site use of Visio, but does for Office 365, which is stupid in my mind cause Visio should just be included within the MS Office suite, IMO.

This was all as soon as I started the installation (the second time). Again, I was about three fourths the way done with the installation, and it never asked me for the product key before hand or anything. I just had the option to install and custom install.
Custom install redirected me to a three tabbed window where I was shown the different categories of Office and the save location as well as the info I registered with (name, etc.). I clicked "install now" and eventually the mentioned messages came
up. Once I clicked close, another Windows message popped up saying the bootstrap stopped working and that the program had stopped working.
I NEVER INSTALLED IT THE FIRST TIME. THE SECOND TIME IT FAILED.
Help please?

Hi,
This is most likely due to the trial software registry has been written to your machine during your first attempt. If you try to install it a second time, you'll get such an error message.
This is by design, only one trial installation is permitted on one machine. You may want to try Microsoft Visio Professional 2013 on another machine or purchase a retail version of Microsoft Visio Professional 2013.
Regarding the first error message you've received, we do not support 32-bit and 64-bit Office versions side-by-side natively on the same 64-bit Windows instance. This applies to both Windows Installer (MSI) and Click-to-Run installations of Office 2013.
If you try to do this, you'll receive an error message and be prevented from continuing.

Mozilla 5.0 did not finish install. not in listed in remove programs list to uninstall. How do I find it to uninstall as it will not let me reinstall previous version and i now have no internet access?

i installed service pack 3(windows) My system is a dell desktop running XP. Then when done a message popped up and said receommended to install yahoo firefox version 5.X. Install of firefox did not finish apparently now I have not access to internet and cannot reinstall it as it thinks the previuos install is not completed and keeps telling me to reboot which I have done a billion times. It is not listed in add/remove programs list to remove it /uninstall it. Where /how to I undo the partial install? Thank you. Trish

You do not need the Yahoo Firefox version.

Sliced up and imported - now what?

Hey guys,
I've been using DreamWeaver for a little while but I really am a novice and really need some help!
I created a page in Photoshop, then sliced it up and imported it into DreamWeaver as a html page - it displayed fine. What I would like to do now though, is turn the centre section of the image into a changing content area - for text and, on one page, a music player.
What would be the best way to do this?

Start over. Using your approach probably accounts for 30% of the posts on this forum, and is a totally inappropriate way to produce a *real* web page. The method you have chosen is intended only for rapid prototyping of alternative layout designs, rather than building finished web pages. With such prototyping pages, as soon as you begin to fold in actual content, things start to fly apart in a shocking way.
Your best bet would be to spend a long weekend here - http://www.w3schools - acquiring some HTML and CSS knowledge. Then read this short tutorial - http://www.apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php to find out the approach that works best for real web pages, and you can begin to take sliced images from Photoshop/Fireworks and use them in layouts built entirely in DW.

The Yahoo password in the mail settings of all my Apple devices has reverted to an old version and, no matter what I try, following advice from the community, it always returns to the old password. How can I solve this issue?

The Yahoo password in the mail setting on all my apple devices - iPad, iPhone 5, mini iPad - has permanently reverted to an old version. I have tried all the suggestions provided by the community so far but nothing works. When I delete the account and re-enter the details, the updated password is recognised and seems to save but, when I go back into the account, the old password is the one that is there.
I am desperate! How can I solve this issue please?

VNC and WebDAV: Now what?

First, thanks to those that responded to my previous post!
A recap of my dilemma: I want to be able to access my home computer (imac G5) from anywhere. I want to be able to transfer files from my imac to my ibook when I'm on the road so I don't have to keep everything on my ibook (I don't want to have to lug around an external HD). I want to be able to run iTunes on my ibook from anywhere in the country using the songs that are on my imac at home. I want to access my iPhoto libraries in my imac so I can burn CD's of the pictures when I'm out of town using my ibook. I have work-related videos on my imac (this is what's really taking up all of my HD space) that I want access to on the road for when I go to meetings.
My parents always told me I wanted everything!
So I loaded OSXvnc on my imac and Chicken of the VNC on my ibook. This is really neat in that I can control my imac from afar (I also have a dyndns account), but it doesn't really help with the iTunes, iPhoto, or video stuff. So then I set up a webdav folder on my imac (using the terminal was a big step for me). Now I can access this folder from anywhere with my ibook, but that doesn't really help me either.
What do I need to do to accomplish my goals above?

In order to share your iphoto library, itunes library and videos over the internet you would first of need a connection at your home that has a big fat upload pipe.
For example a standard 128k or 256k upload speed would not cut.
The next thing you would be best doing is setting up SSH. SSH can create secure tunnels between your ibook and your mac. You can run a number of different services over ssh and you only need to upen up port 22 on your router.

Once you have ssh setup using public key authentication then to run VNC over ssh fire up your terminal and the command.
ssh -L 5901:127.0.0.01:5900 your.dyndns.org
Setup your vnc server to run on port 5900 and then on your ibook connect your vnc client to
127.0.0.1:5901
Now your vnc server is running over a secure encrypted tunnel.
OK so what next?
you can run afp shares over ssh so you could mount your imac's hard drive on your ibook.
ssh -L 5480:127.0.0.1:548 your.dnydns.org
Then you can mount the sharepoint on our ibook using
afp://127.0.0.1:5480
Then you have access to your tunes photo's and movies.

Fresh install after CC Cleaner Flash is not the latest version... now what?

I uninstalled CC, ran cleaner, restarted, reinstalled and Flash is not up to date. I don't have the HTML 5 options I see in the what's new docs. What can I do to force this update?

Updates is greyed out. I know there is an update to the one I have though... my coworkers have it. The first line of "New Document" dialog box should read something like "New HTML 5 canvas..." then a space then New Flash file etc... I don't have that option.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Bootcamp setup with Mac OS and WinXP; now what to use Ghost to image

We have successfully taken a Mac and setup bootcamp with Mac OS and Windows XP; however, we have another 50 Mac's to deploy. It was our thought we could use Ghost to image the initial system and deploy to all others. However, in our attempts Ghost is only seeing the Mac side.
Has anyone does this? Is there a way to get it to pick it all up? or do we have to manually install all 50 Mac's?

If you use SuperDuper and your target drive is larger than your HD, you can use a block clone which will include everything on your internal drive including XP.

there is no update from 5.5. to 6.0.
you could have upgraded from 5.5 to 6.0, but you would know that because you paid money.
assuming you paid no money for a 6.0 upgrade, you still have your 5.5 license. uninstall clean and reinstall 5.5 per http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
