Switching from Classic to Extended Classic

Hello,
We are thinking of switching from classic scenario to extended classic as part of an upgrade from EBP 3.5 to SRM 5.0. Can anyone confirm whether it is possible, or whether we would have to re-implement SRM?
Any idea of how difficult it would be.

Hi,
Yes you can do it.
First you have to do the upgrade from 3.5 to 5.0
Then once your upgraded system is correctly working , you can change the configuration and switch from classic to ECS scenario.

Hello,
We are proposing to switch from Classic to Extended Classic Scenario.
We are on SRM_SERVER 550,Sp7 and SAP 4.7 backend.
We want to know if this is technically feasible to switch and have less/no impact on existing transactional data and master data.
Main concerns are: Existing open Shopping carts and PO's.
We are also modifying the WF by including buyer completion WF.
Will the carts created in classic scenario and 'awaiting approval' work similarly in ECS?
Can we copy old carts (created in classic scenario) into new ones in ECS?
Are there any other issues like the ones above which people have come across?
Is there any standard SAP material/Consulting note available
which gives some guidelines for switching scenarios?

Hello,
You can switch from the classic to the extended classic scenario by making the global settings in the IMG.
But it would be better if you can decide if only a particular set of categories need ECS.
If you wish to have both the scenarios,the deciding factor is the product category.
You can also activate a BADI for the control of ECS despite the above Global settings.

Why does my font/text change when I switch from Classic 3D to Ray traced 3D in After Effects?

My font/text changes when I switch from Classic 3D to Ray traced 3D. Why is it doing this? Also, I cant get the font/txt to look the same after I switch from Classic to Ray traced. How can I get it to look the same?

I am pretty new to After Effects so I hope it's not my inexperience that's causing the problem. (It probably is)
I just updated to the most current version of AE.
I am on a mac pro late 2013 12GB 6 core. Running OSX 10.9.4
Okay so after looking at it a little closer, I think the color is what mostly changes. The first screenshot is the what the text look like with Classic 3D and the second screenshot is what it looks like after I change it to Ray traced 3D. Also under the "Mode" section..the pull down that says "Normal" disappears. I'm wondering why the font color is changing?

Technical Scenario Switch: From Standalone To Extended Classic

Hello,
Currently we are preparing the system to change the technical scenario from standalone to extended classic (SRM 4.0)
While the Customizing steps are clear, it isn´t so clear how the data that already exist in the system will behave after the scenario switch.
Before the scenario switch, the purchasing department is closing all open SRM local purchase orders.
Someone has already done this kind of scenario switch?
What were the problems you encounter?

Before talking about de-activating ECS or not in this BADI, this scenario must first be activated.
This is done via the customizing point "Activate ECS": just flag the check-box, and all you classic items (i.e. those for which a backend has been determined) become extended classic.
Here is the SRM - IMG path:
SRM Server --> Cross-Application Basic Settings --> Activate Extended Classic Scenario.
You can then fine-tune the scenario by using the BADI BBP_EXTLOCALPO_BADI.
Note- The BADI BBP_EXTLOCAL_PO_BADI can be used to activate the classic scenario based on the proguct categories .
You can choose to have the 3 scenarios working on the same SRM system depending on product category (standard) or any other business rule through the BADI BBP_EXTLOCALPO_BADI. The BADI is mandatory if you want the Classic and the Extended Classic to work together
Exactly, this BADI allow you to implement your own business rule for backend determination in a multiple Backends environment (Standard customizing is only based on Product categories)
As soon as you use BADI BBP_EXTLOCALPO_BADI , you don't have to use the ECS scenario activation customizing point (the rule is overwritten with the BADI result). The BADI BBP_DETERMINE_LOGSYS will only help in your case, if you have several Backend where to create PO documents.
PS: be aware that in ECS scenario you will no longer be able to create PR or reservations in R/3.

Updates keep switching from duplicate to extend display

I'm getting a little tired of this. I keep a lot of desktop shortcuts and I keep them arranged in a specific order. Only, every time Microsoft sends me automatic updates it switches me fro "duplicate" displays to "extend" displays. Which
leads to all my shortcuts being stacked up on one side, and 45 minutes of putting everything back where it belongs.
Thanks to the Blue Ray player, I can't just unplug the DVI cable, and I primarily use VGA so that I don't have to switch everything around when I want to use one of my other computers that don't have DVI options. And, YES, I logged in as "Administrator"
and changed things there.
So, either stop changing my settings every time you force me to update, or fix the stupid software that can no longer output Blue Ray video through the VGA signal. Don't even "try" to lie to me and say it's impossible, there was no problem
doing it back when my card didn't have a DVI output.
As it stands, you force me to get a DVI capable because, now that my video card has a DVI output, it is suddenly impossible to output Blue-Ray video over VGA. Then, even though both cables go to the same monitor, Windows 7 "insists"
that the 1366x768 DVI monitor is actually a different resolution than the 1366x768 VGA monitor. Then when I force it to duplicate the display (so I don't have to switch my monitor back and forth just to operate normally,) it decides that I must be mistaken
every time it updates.

So far it's happened after every update that requires a restart. If I restart my computer without an update, it doesn't happen. If I have an update that doesn't need to restart my computer, then I later restart my computer manually, it doesn't
happen.
The drivers for my display haven't been updated since I installed them. Just went through the update history to make sure. Checked all that were installed on 11/11/2014 (the last time this happened,) and scanned through all the rest - though
I don't remember which specific ones required a restart or not. Didn't see anything ATI (well AMD now,) in the list. Didn't see anything HP (for the LCD monitor,) either. Those usually appear under "optional" updates which don't
install automatically anyways.

Impacts for switching from Extended Classic to Classic in production

Hi,
Has anyone involved project that customer has switched from Extended Classic to Classic in production system?
SRM 4.0 is live in Extended Classic now.
Customer is going to upgrade and switch their production system to SRM 7.0 Classic.
Main process is
PS -> MM PR -> SRM Sourcing -> SRM PO (Extended) -> SUS PO -> SUS PO Response
GR, Service Entry and Invoice are handled in ERP
I see an issue if we switch SRM-SUS to MM-SUS, SUS PO is created before switch and PO Response is created after switch.
Do you have any lessens and learned topics for switching Extended Classic to Classic? Which documents have to be take care?

Switching scenario from classic to extended classic

Hello Folks,
Hope everyone is well.
I would like to switch our scenario from classic to extended classic. I have set the flag in table V_BBP_EXTPO_GL - Extended classic scenario active.
Now when I try to create a Shopping Cart I get the followng errors.
No organizational data exists on item level -
Vendor 0000401968 not intended for purch. org
I have looked at all my config and cannot see anything obvious.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Dave and Vadim,
Attention, prior to the new possibility to use backend purch groups for Extended Classic Scenario, this erroneous solution was commonly implemented.
DO NOT define a local purchasing organization & group. In that case, you will have to:
- complete all the supplier purchasing views for this local Purch org
- define new org IDs and responsibilities
- can not use same purchaser user ID for both org IDs !!
To avoid this, you simply have to implement the BADI to determine the Purch Group. In this BADI, you can copy/paste the standard code of Purch Group determination (find the function module), and just get rid of the logical system in this determination. So backend purch group become eligible.

I would be grateful if you could let me know what is technically involved in migrating from classic to extended classic. We are using SRM 4.
I would also like to know how long this would take and any cost information and an impact on any current master data and new data that would need to be set up.

IPod classic - switching from Windows to Mac

I have an iPod classic and am switching from Windows to Mac - what's the best way to retain my iPod library? Thanks!

If you just want to connect and use the iPod on the Mac then set it to manual update on your PC first. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:

Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
Macs can read Windows drives, the iPod shuffle for instance comes Windows formatted and is fully supported (you can update the firmware or restore it on the Mac and it retains it's Windows formatting). Other iPods (such as a 5th Generation or Classic for example) can be used in Windows format on a Mac but have to have the firmware updated or be restored on a PC to maintain the formatting. If however you don't intend using the iPod on a PC again you'll need to transfer your library from your PC so you can restore and reformat the iPod and keep it's firmware updated.
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your new iTunes directly from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Converting from classic to Extended withholding tax is possible but be sure once do.

Shopping Carts from Classic to Extended Classic

We are contemplating to move from Classic 5.0 to Extended Classic 5.0 scenario, would like to know on the Shopping Carts created in Classic scenario behave when copied into new carts in ECS?
Will all the previously created shopping carts be available in ECS?
Can user copy/edit/approve the previously created shopping carts which are yet to be approved in Classic scenario?
Will Buyer be able to create PO in ECS for the shopping carts which are in approved status in Classic scenario?

Dear Kiran,
as the scenario is determined only in the SC transfer, you won't have problem neiter with the approval of the existing SCs, nor with the copy of the old SCs.
The SCs which were created before the change and have already the status transfered (I1111) will stay the classic scenario, the rest will be (after the change) extended.

Crop tool shows background color unless I switch to "Classic" mode

I'm not sold on the "latest" Photoshop being the best. I've seen more bugs now that I've subscribed to the "CC" version than ever before. Here's my latest issue..
When I activate the crop tool (I realize it's been rewritten.. not sure why), I see my current background color in place of what is visible in my current workspace. Ultimately, completing the crop command, it crops as expected, and the background color vanishes. What benefit is this? It adds confusion and makes me a bit confused as to what the final crop result will be. Why was this changed? Why am I seeing my current background color? It makes no sense. I've been using Photoshop for nearly 20 years and this is just dumb. Can anyone explain?

Yeah, that was pretty vague. I was in a creative mode and was rudely interrupted by this weird change, so I wasn't focused on a clear post. The lack of direct email support to Adobe frustrated me also. Alas..
Bascially, I have a layer with some image data, and transparent regions:
I select the crop tool, and select a region just inside the outside edge, containing the portion of the image I care about:
The background switched from being transparent to my current background color selection. I had this green chosen for some completely unrelated task. I can't find anywhere that this can be disabled. The settings I have are what I believe to be the defaults:
And, when I change the crop settings to "Use Classic Mode", the behavior is the more sensible (in my opinion) current background:
I hope that clears up the confusion. I can't imagine any use case where replacing the current visible background with the current background color makes sense. If it's a feature, I can't find any documentation, official or otherwise, that explains why this is happening.
Yes, I like the latest versions of software, but since I made the jump from CS4 to CC, I've hit more bugs than ever before. I've had to kill Photoshop a couple times in the past two months, whereas before, it never froze up or crashed on me. This feels like a bug, but if it's a feature, I'd love to know how to use the new crop tool's background settings properly.

We are going for an upgrade to SRM Server 5.0 with the Classic scenario. Can we in the near future go for Extended classic Scenario to have all the purchasing processes in SRM. If it is possible how can we go for and what are the efforts, we plan to add direct procurement functionality at this time.

For converting from classic scenario to Extended classic scenarios it is easy as we have to apply one tick in the customising that Extended clasic scenarios Active.
And then test the processes on QA client.
Even we can bring in the direct procurement scenario for that follow this steps
Following settings are done in SRM
1 you need to maintain the Document type in spro and in PPOMA_BBP - Doc type - DC_PROC_TY
2 Maintaint the nnumber rannges in customising for the Document type in R3 as well as in SRM .
3 Once the direct procument button is clicked Goods receipent is replace by Plant and
4 The account assignemt tab is removed.
5 Get all locations from backend by running report
BBP_LOCATION_GET_from_system
Settings in R3
Set up the document type and number ranges .

HP LaserJet 1300 won't print from Classic

I can’t print out of Classic environment because the printer (HP Laserjet 1300) isn’t installed there. My computer does not have dual boot. (That is, it can run classic, but not boot up in classic.) I've read some related posts and have tried some suggestions, but so far to no avail.
The installation CD has installation for OS 9 and OS 10 and I have installed both from the OS X environment. But there is still no HP Laserjet 1300 icon in the Chooser in the OS 9 environment. I should mention that when I went to chooser and clicked on Laserwriter 8 icon, I noticed that there was a place that said “Select a PostScript Printer” but there was no printers to be selected in the related field. I have been to Apple System Profiler in OS 9 and there is no driver listed there for my HP laserjet even though I have installed it.
When I click print I get a yellow ! message that says that my Document could not be printed because printer “LaserWriter could not be found. Try again?
This printer works fine from OS X, but not from classic. I called apple help and they said to go to the HP website. The HP website said the following:
“Installing a driver in Mac in classic mode
2004/11
Installing an HP driver in MAC® classic mode may be useful: if, for example, an application you want to use is not supported by MAC OS X.
This functionality is supported by the PostScript and the raster drivers.
Installing the driver
With the latest version of the drivers, the installer already foresees separate MAC OS 9 and OS X installation. On MAC OS X, run the OS 9 installation and it will install in classic mode.”
MY QUESTION:
How do I “run the OS 9 installation”? What buttons do I press to do this?

froellig, two wholly different things here.
Looking at the 9 driver for LaserJet 1300 HP offers for download, anyway, it isn't actually a driver - it's merely an installer which, from either X or 9, should give you Printer Description Files to use with the standard PostScript drivers, namely LaesrWriter 8 or AdobePS.
Test that it did that much by using Apple's Desktop Printer Utility to create a virtual desktop printer… If the Change button in PostScript Printer Definition (PPD) File pane leads to a Printer Descriptions list that does include HP LaserJet 1300 Series that much, at least, seems to have worked.
If the printer works from OS X, then you could use LaserWriter 8 in Classic to Print to File, which would give you .ps files which you could manually drag into any X print queue. This works for most printers.
The other thing is that yes, LaserWriter should show the 1300 in the right-hand Chooser pane so again, can X see it and print to it?
If not that suggests a cable or hardware fault, bad settings or interference from other software.
If X can see and use the printer, and there are no other faults with Classic 9, that suggests something inside OS 9 is interfering.
