Switching from internet network to printer network to print

I have a Macbook Pro that I use and also a new Macbook that my grandparents use. We share an HP printer. I was wondering if there was a way to adjust snow leopard so that when i decide to print i don't have to go to the airport menu and change to my printer network and then when i am ready to continue browsing the internet i have to switch back to my internet network which is my dsl box which is wireless to be able to browse the internet. I hope i have explained this clear enough but if not write me back and i will try and explain it better this is my first time on here. Any help would be much appreciated

You need to connect the printer to the dsl modem/router if possible.
This way both of you can use the printer.
There only needs to be one network for all devices.

Did you see a "Bookmark" tab in your Menu Bar? All of your IE Favorites should be there if you pull it down.
FYI, It's called Bookmarks in Firefox.

  • New router (switched from Linksys to Netgear 750 - HP J4680 printer all in one - and MAC

My husband puchase a new router - (we were told our old router failed on us) - we had no problems setting up the netgear 750 from the linksys router we originally had - we have a MACBook Pro
My HP printer J4680 - ran beautifully  before the router switch - now will only work when directly connected from MAC to printer.
We have had several people troubleshoot for us -( we live in the country - no IT personnel nearby) - no one can seem to get the connection going between the two devices - I reinstalled the printer - read and reread the troubleshooting manual on both router and printer - and performed all the recommendations listed. The basic setup instructions on the HF printer say that despite the proximity of the printer and the router the signal in only fair and that it appears to have a "security" issue - I turned off the firewall settings on computer - no change in status.
we are contemplating returning the Netgear 750 for another linksys - could someone please tell me how or if we can solve this problem w/o having to return the router?
We purchased this particular router for the MAC compatability - the wireless printer is fairly new <<5yrs old and never had any problems w/it.
IT REALLY APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE I CAN GET!! THANX - maggiemae03815

    Welcome to the forums maggiemae03815
I saw your post about the connection issues you are having with your new router, Mac computer and Officejet J4680. I understand you have done some troubleshooting already however, I have a suggestion or two for you to try.
    On your Mac, try:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the Mac
Re-add the printer (do not use the AirPrint driver)
    Test print
Next contact the router company or your internet service provider to check the settings on your new router. There may be a setting that is blocking the connection to your printer:
Network name and password need to have no spaces or punctuation
If using WPA2 security, switch to WPA personal
Dual broadcast Wireless b/g/n (printer will only connect to g)
Mac filter needs to be turned off
Firewall settings need to be at there default settings, or set to a lower security
    Multicasting "on"
Following ports need to be un-blocked:
    Incoming (UDP) ports : 137, 138, 161, 427
    Outgoing (TCP) ports : 137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500
I hope my post was informational!

  • Unable to print from Internet to HP Officejet 4500 Wireless printer.

I have a new HP Pavilion g6 Notebook and an HP Officejet 4500 Wireless printer.
The printer will print regular documents OK but will not print directly from the Internet. I get a message that says 'an error has occurred in the script on this page'.  If I save the Internet page to a document file, it prints OK.  Any idea how to fix this?

I had the same problem.  The printer worked fine with all my documents, but would not print anything from the internet.  I tried several fixes that didn't work.  Then I realized that I was using the 64 bit connection and when I switched to the 32 bit the problem was solved.

  • Since I switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox, the Celeb Daily link I've always visted will no longer show the images / pictures. Cannot figure out why.

Celeb Daily is a celeb picture site that you can vote a rating of 12 different pics "daily". Since switching from Int. Exp. to Firefox they no longer come up, only texts & boxes. What gives? I am far from computer savvy. Don't go all technical on me if it's fixable. Thanx.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • An error occurred when printing - cant print from internet or pdfs, but I can print from InDesign. Any thoughts?

For some reason I am no longer able to print from the internet, or pdfs.
In Firefox and Safari, I get the an error saying "Printer Error: An error occurred while printing."
In Acrobate Pro I get the error "The document could not be printed."
I even took a screen shot, but I'm not able to print from Preview.
I recently used Font Nuke to clear my font cache. Could this have caused a problem?
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Try clearing the print queue ...
Open System Preferences > Print & Scan > Print
    Click Open Print Queue
Delete all jobs then restart your Mac. Turn the printer off then back on.
    Try printing a pdf file.

  • I switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox about 2 hours ago, and want to recover my previous "Favorites" bookmarks. How?

Until two hours ago, we had a list of "Favorite" bookmarks that were lost after making Firefox our browser. How can I restore those items?

You can find the Import menu entry in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)
*Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Data from Another Browser
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_bookmarks
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Importing+favorites+and+other+data+from+Internet+Explorer

  • How do I find my "FAVORITES" since I switched from Internet Explorer?

It appeared as though they were transferred during the transition from Internet Explorer to Firefox but I can't locate them.

If you did not have Firefox before your bookmarks would be from Internet Explorer, if you chose IE.
It should have put what was in your bookmark toolbar in IE into your folder "'''Bookmarks Toolbar'''" which you can see in the bookmarks sidebar ("Ctrl+B") as one of three major folders -- "'''Bookmarks Toolbar'''", "'''Bookmarks Menu'''", and "'''Unsorted Bookmarks'''". You will probably find your favorites separated into each of those three folders.
'''To make the Bookmarks Toolbar visible''' on your toolbars use
#"Alt" key to display toolbars temporarily (as in IE)
    # View > Toolbars > (checkmark) Bookmarks Toolbar
You can make Firefox 4.0.1 and '''Firefox 5.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.17, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 5.0, or 4.0.1, look like 3.6)]. -- Picture of [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/icons/fx4toolbars.png before/after] changes.

  • Switched from Cox cable to Comcast and now printer problems

I would like to buy a new printer.   Which printer is compatible with comcast?  LIke I said, never had this problem before. It is wifi, and comcast should recognize it.  It's not worth the time, considering how cheap printers are.

Unless you really want a new printer, you only need to set up your current one.  You would still have to set up the new printer, just like you need to do with your current one.
You don't mention what kind of internet setup you have.  That information would go a long way in helping us help you.  What we need to know is what kind of modem/router setup do you have?

  • Switched from IE8 today and can no longer print Fed Ex shipping labels. Fed Ex help desk says its a Firefox problem and they are unaware of a fix.

We used IE 8 at work, with a Vista 32bit O/S. We switched to Firefox today, and can no longer print using our Fed Ex shipping printer, through FedEx.com. If we switch back to IE8, we can print labels.

Does the label appear in File > Print Preview, and it just won't print? <br />
Do you have the correct size "paper" selected thru Properties for that printer when viewed thru Firefox? <br />
See if anything here helps: <br />
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages
If that doesn't help you, I don't know what else to recommend. Without being able to login to FedEx and without access to their printer, there isn't anything I can do to see what the problem with Firefox and their printer might be.
IMO, FedEX should either tell you that their printer software is made to work to IE only or not. Considering that they are a worldwide company and that Firefox has like a 30% worldwide market share, they might be disappointing like 30% of their customers with vague help responses like that. Plus, IE is for Windows OS's, what are their customers running Mac OSX or Linux supposed to do if it doesn't work in Firefox?

Should I take it to the Apple store?

  • I switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox and was so happy. Then I took the prompt and converted to Firefox 4.0 and now my computer is so slow it is almost unbearable. How do I switch back to Firefox 3 or some earlier version to get my speed back?

It takes a long time for the computer to warm up and start working, maybe 30 seconds. Just to open an email can take 10 seconds. This is the kind of delay I was experiencing on Internet Explorer before I switched to Firefox 3. It is particularly slow if I am opening a photo attachment. It also can be slow just moving from one tab to another. Help!

    Credit Tony E:
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data. See https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+Firefox
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use
    your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of
installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • Since going from internet explorer to fire fox, my printer will not work. what do I do

I changed my internet explorer to Fire Fox. I had to reset my information in order to log into an account because it didn't recognize my computer. When I got what I wanted, it would not print out the information. What do I need to do since I am using Fire Fox

Thank you for the assistance. Before getting this information, I clicked on the actual document and it printed. I had previously gone to FILE and PRINT and it would not print. I will keep the information sent to me, if I have further problems, I will have someone more knowledgeable than myself follow the instructions that were sent.
