Switching from iOS to Android

Hello all,
I unfortunately had my iphone 5 stolen and decided to switched to Android. I love Android more so then Apple, but thats besides the point. The reason for writing this post is for some reason, I can't receive SOME texts from people with iphones. I emphasize some because some come through and others don't. I have changed my apple ID, password and everthing possible in an effort to resolve this problem. I refuse to call apple because they will tell me to sign out of imessage on the device, despite having it stolen. I'm sure there is a way to fix this but after reading hundreds of blogs and forums there hasn't been a clear answer. I refuse to go back to an Apple phone because this is a ridiculous problem.

  • Switched from iPhone to Android and now iMessage being sent instead of Text

A friend of mine recently switched from iPhone to Android and now my text are being sent as iMessage instead of text and he obviously isn't receiving it. How do I fix this bug. I'm using iPhone 4 running iOS 5

I apologize about the odd style but I'm using voice rec software.  I just got the Galaxy S five and I have this problem too after weeks of searching online I finally figured out the problem it is with iMessage even if you have your old phones imessage switched off. you have to get your friends to text you normally and send. If the text bubble shows up blue, press and hold choose option send as SMS or text and the bubble will change to green green means SMS blue is the iMessage so its up to the iPhone user to take literally a half of an extra step to send a text to you and if they don't do that then they're just jerks

Sorry... No... Downgrading is not supported by Apple.

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of Your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
    If the issue persists...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore

Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11) Installed on your computer

  • Group Message not working since move from ios to android

I know there have been lots of threads similar to this.  I've looked through those and tried the suggestions, but to no avail. I'm still left with the same issue.
I have not been able to receive any iMessages/Texts from friends while in a group chat on my Android device.  I can send them and my friends receive them, but i cannot receive from them.  I get individual texts/iMessages fine, just not group and only when it's from an iPhone.  I am able to receive group messages from Blackberry, Android and Windows devices.
The catch.  I gave up on iPhone and officially moved to Android.
Here is what has been done.  BEFORE switching to the HTC One, i deactivated iMessage on my iPhone my mac.  I made sure to also uncheck the phone number and my email addresses BEFORE deactiviating iMessage.  Also did the same with Facetime (not sure if that matters or not).
I have unregistered the iPhone from my Apple profile/support account.
I have deleted all iPhone numbers from my iCloud contacts.
I have the correct settings in Android.
I have made sure that my friends have it set to send SMS if iMessage is not available.
I've ran out of ideas, and ran out of places to go since Apple's support only had the one suggestion which was for them to remove the phone number from iMessage.
    Please help!

        Hey there highaltitude,
I am sorry to hear that you are still having issues receiving text messages from iPhone users. I recently switched from an iPhone myself and have experienced the same issue. You have exhausted all the basic troubleshooting steps for this issue. I ended up having to reach out to Apple Support myself to ask them to deregister my number from iMessages.

  • Lost all photos in switch from iOS 7 to iOS 8 when replacing iPod

After replacing my iPod 5 (iOS 7) because of a stuck sleep/wake button, I received a new iPod 5 (iOS 8) and cannot retrieve any of my photos or videos from my previous backup saved on my desktop. Is there any way to save these images and videos? Is there a free program that can help retrieve these as well? I'm desperately trying to save these. Please help!

When I first connected it to my computer, I said I wanted to restore from a backup. That process started and about 15 or so minutes in, it said it cannot be restored and I found out that this is because the backup was for iOS 7 and the replacement iPod is on iOS 8? Now when I connect my iPod to iTunes, it just syncs itself.

  • How do I switch from iOS 8 back to iOS 7?

i've decided to ditch iOS 8 and revert to iOS 7 so that I can use my Moga Rebel with a much higher degree of stability. is there any definitive way to do this? I'm on an iPad Mini, nonretina.

Quite complicated, and not recommended at all.
Apple does not support iOS downgrades. There have been many people encouraging this but you should know that Apple views an attempt to downgrade the iOS as unauthorized tampering and will void the warranty and any future support for that device.
(And If you really want to, there are step by step tutorials on how to do it on internet)

  • VPN fails for iOS and Android devices

L2TP and PPTP VPN set up on OS X Server 3.0 fails when connection is made from iOS or Android device. When connecting from a MacBook Air running Maverick it all works fine. Exact same client settings are done on iOS and OS X.
When connecting from OS X, Server VPN log shows all the details. But when trying to connect from iOS and even from my Android, there is not a single entry in the Server logs that anything even reaches the server.
I checked using TCPMon and using PPTP and was clearly showing that packages were forwarded to the server. But still nothing showed in the log.

It's a known bug and will be fixed with 10.9.1 according to the Apple support.

  • The Switch from Android to iPhone

    Hello everyone,
For about 4,5  years now, I have always been using Android smartphones. I have never regretted buying them and I have always loved them. The main things that made me choose for android were the freedom and customization. I have always been experimenting with different custom ROMs, trying to adjust the way I use my device exactly the way I wanted to. I had never even considered buying an Apple device.
About a year ago I was looking for a tablet. I went to the store to have a look at the different android tablets. In the store however, I noticed the android tablets not running nearly as smooth as my phones always had. Just for the heck of it I also took a look at the iPads and I was intrigued by how smooth they ran. A lot of internet research and store visits eventually made me choose the iPad mini. I did not only want a smoothly running device, I also wanted to try out a different operating system. Furthermore, I also somehow wanted to reserve the endless customization and messing around with different ROMs for my phone. I wanted the tablet just to run smoothly and work. Apart for a slight image retention problem, my iPad Mini works great and I never regretted buying it despite of my earlier dislike for Apple.
However, even after buying the iPad, I could still never imagine myself buying an iPhone. Until recently. Allthough I still really like my blazing smooth Galaxy S3, I am kind of losing the interest for constantly changing ROMs and the endless customizability. It was fun having all those options open, lately I have always been looking for ROMs that simpely work properly without any hassle and that run smoothly. The thought of switching to iPhone has crossed my mind several times, but I am still unsure.
I was wondering if there are any people who have recently made the switch from Android to iOS and how they experienced it? I think I'll like having an iPhone for its simplicity and smoothness, but I am also afraid that I might miss widgets, custom MP3 players, and the freedom to download and open any file or easily send them from my phone.
How have other ex-android users experienced this switch? What difference did you like most and which android features did you miss (in the beginning)?
I hope to hear from you :)

Ok, no widgets and I do miss those occasionally. However, I have other music players on my phone than the built in one. And, I've yet to find a file that I could put on my Android phone and use that I couldn't also put on my iPhone. In both cases, I generally email files to myself.
Things that I like on Android phones that I can't get on an iPhone: ability to schedule SMSs for a later time, ability to use a different messaging app for SMS, ability to set profiles for settings based on time, location, etc with apps like Tasker.
On the other hand, my iPhone never crashes (I found custom ROMs to be a nightmare). It integrates beautifully with my iPad and lots of other devices. Siri is, for me, much better than Google's voice features, though that gap is closing. And, as the Apple App Store is more lucrative for developers than the Google Play store, the apps that I want and use, in my opinion, seem to be better. I find the user experience on an iPhone just more pleasant. And, I think you'll find that an iPhone 5S is just as "blazing" as a Galaxy S4... forget the S3!
    Best of luck.
