Switching from MOTO Droid to Droid X

I have a motorola droid and recently purchased a Droid X via online using my sisters upgrade because my upgrade wouldn't be until late 2011. No i did not still her upgrade, she wanted the moto droid because she has nails and and cannot use the touchscreen on the X. we made a deal where i gave her my droid in exchange for her upgrade. My question is when my X comes (will ship by 9/9) how do i switch my number to the X and my sisters number to the moto droid. I don't want to take this problem to the verizon store, I want to fix it on my own.

No offense or trying to upset you, but isn't she aware that Droid 2 already launched? I mean, it's so much more improved and nicer than the Droid 1 and also has an improved qwerty keyboard just like the Droid 1 did, except without the navigation pad it used to carry. I'm sure that if you've kept it pretty much in mint condition and once it gets Froyo 2.2 it may run just as nice as the Droid 1 but I really hope she doesn't mind not having used her upgrade to get you a Droid X instead of getting herself the new Droid 1. Just a thought, I'm sure your Sister is awesome and doesn't mind doing this for you but I just think she might not have been aware that there was a newer option she could have chosen since she's extending her contract by getting a phone (Droid X) which she doesn't find suitable. Anyhow, hope you enjoy it. All you have to do is register your new handset online and it'll ask you for a S/N then make sure you've run your Backup Assistant so you don't loose all your contacts. Do the same for her with your Droid 1 but I am letting you know that she will be asked (electronically) over the phone if she agrees to a contract extension of 2 years (1 year if she chose that option). Then after that I'm sure you shouldn't run into any problems once she chooses the data package of $29.99 or higher required for all smartphones since she will obviously still need it for the Droid 1. I apologize for the long response, but hope this helps you. The wait will seem like forever but once you get your Droid X you'll completely forget about the wait and have an awesome time looking through all the functions the X provides. I'm loving my phone especially since I come from a 'dumbphone' which was the LG enV Touch that I HATED and thought a $9.99 or higher data plan was a waste of money for such a phone that gave me more problems than I had with my old school Samsung Alias which I went back to after using the LG enV Touch for less than a year and putting it back in it's box in almost mint condition. With the X I don't mind paying the $29.99 data plan because it truly does so much more than all those Blackberry phones I tested out at the Verizon stores. So glad I went with the Droid X!

  • Switching from sprint droid to iphone4:is there an APP FOR THAT??? lol

i was wondering how easiest way i can transfer contacts from droid to iphone.. i had a droid thru sprint and upgraded to iphone4.. droid is not activated, iphone is.. which would be better: sync info on droid (its not activated, can i connect to wifi tho, instead of mobile network and sync to google? ) then open google somehow (how??) on iphone 4 and sync?? or connect droid to usb and laptop and somehow transfer to iphone4 as a different folder or drive? i don't use outlook or anything, can i just use windows explorer and drag and drop or something? or is there maybe a specific app that takes care of this?? even how to transfer all info from droid onto SD card and transfer THAT to iphone??? trying to figure out easiest way to transfer my boyfriend's stuff.also, what best ringtone app for iphone..thanks!! (former ipod user turned droid user turned back to iphone user lol)

  • Considering switching from iPhone 4S but................

My late 50ish eyes like the larger screen of the Galaxy III. However, I am seeing many complaints about software and other technical issues that are rarely (at least in my case) are a part of the iPhone world. I am looking for the experiences, good and bad,  of those that have switched from the iPhone to the Galaxy III

I am 69 and have owned my SIII now since August 2012 and not had an issue with my phone or my software...this is not to say you won't YMMV.  I have read about many having trouble with their phones and the software when the update came to update the ICS to Jellybean.  I did not experience any problems with the Jellybean update.  I am OK with Jellybean but with I could go back to ICS not possible and keep the phone stock.  I moved to the SIII from MOTO Droid Razr Maxx which was a good phone and I never had problems even when they updated it to ICS.  The thing with the SIII is the battery life which I am only getting about 10 - 12 hours on a charge...the Droid Razr Maxx I got 2 days sometimes better out of which was really nice.  You may want to consider the Note II as it has much better battery life than the SIII.  I do read about owners having issues with them as well as some of the software on them.  I have never owned an iphone and  NEVER will...just as I have never owned an apple computer, I have always owned a windows pc.  I am starting to move away from the pc to an android tablet since I don't really need a pc anymore.  A tablet will suffice for what I do now.  I do use a pc at work though for Office and AutoCAD.  Good luck with your decision hope what I said here helped and if you have anymore questions please feel free here to reply with them.

  • I switched from an iPhone to a Droid and can't receive texts from iPhones now, help?

I switched from my iPhone 4s to a Droid and I do not have that phone anymore. I can not recieve texts from anyone with an iPhone and can not get in contact with my girlfriend or siblings now. I think their phones are trying to send their texts as iMessages to my phone that does not recieve iMessages. How can I just delete my Apple account and recieve texts again?

Sounds like you didn't turn of iMessage on your iPhone before making the switch.  If you registered your iPhone with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it.  Also, try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage.

  • Switching From The Original BlackBerry Storm to Droid X

Ordered my phone through Verizon on 8/25. My X is expected to ship by 9/9. Anyone else switch from the BB Storm? If so, what should I expect from the X? Is there a big difference?
FWIW, I absolutely loath the Storm. It's the worst phone I've ever owned. So, I'm expecting/hoping for a lot from the X

My wife and I also went from BB to Droid.  She got the Droid 2 (Came in day after I ordered on the phone) to replace her Curve and I got the X (arrived two weeks later) to replace my Storm 1.  What a difference!  Here's the rundown of what I see different so far (had it for just over a week).
    1. Fast!  Everything is fast.  Browser loads pages several times faster than the Storm.  Scrolling, pinch to zoom, and every other aspect of browsing is amazing in comparison.  I used to dread getting on the web with the Storm and would prefer to wait till I could get to a computer.  Not any more! Switching apps is equally speedy and multitasking is awesome.
    2. Much better memory management.  I had quick pull on my Storm scheduled to reboot every morning and was still getting slow and hourglasses by early evening.  I haven't had to reboot my X yet for slowdown.  I also have tons more apps installed.  I was down to only a few apps on my Storm to free up as much memory as possible.  I just keep downloading more on my X with no problems.
    3. The screen does take a little getting used to.  I was in the habit of letting my finger rest on the screen to keep it on with my Storm.  It can be pretty sensitive for typing as well.  I get a few extra letters here and there but I'm getting better.  (Using swype helps alot).
    4. Did I mention it's fast?
    5. Battery life is about the same.  Except I am still playing with the X alot more.
    6. I wasn't a big business user and already use gmail for my personal email, as well as google calendar.  I had google sync on my Storm so the transition was easy there. My wife does use a pop account for her work email so it is kind of a bummer that it isn't push like the BB, but she's ok with it.  Switched from using BB Messenger to Google Talk with no problems either.  If you have a big list of contacts in BB Messenger, keep an eye on an app called CrossTalk that promises to be able to send BBM messages from Android phones.
    7. Kinda bummed there isn't a unified inbox like on my Storm, but having everything show up in the notification drop down is just as good.
    8. It's fast, even without battery pulls!

  • Worth switching from Droid to Droid 2?

  • Can BBerry calendar, memos, contacts move to Moto Droid 4?

I'm thinking of switching from BlackBerry Bold 9650 to Motorola Droid 4.
Verizon has given me four totally different answers about transferring contacts, calendar and memos from Bberry to Moto.
Answers range from "it can't be done," to "it should be easy," to "it can be done but I don't know how," to "call Google or Motorola."
Does anyone know if it's even possible?
    And, if so, how?
    Thanks.

        Hi mermaz!
I'm sure I can provide the final answer and solution for you! Can it be done? Yes! It can be tricky depending on how you do it. The easiest portion is the contacts. You can download Backup Assistant on the Bold, save contacts, then download the app to the Droid 4 and import the contacts. The app is free and managed by Verizon Wireless. That app will only do contacts though.
What I honestly recommend is moving everything over to Google sync, since Google is the primary source is sync on the device and you'll need a gmail account anyways.
Are you using Blackberry Desktop Manager to sync your information to Outlook? If so, its an easy import/export process of each file type into Google Contacts, Google Calendar, and Google Tasks.
Here are the export steps from Outlook: http://bit.ly/SMfR2d
Here are the import steps to Google: http://bit.ly/Rx6r81
Once everything is migrated to Google, you can activate the Droid 4. The set up screens will walk you through signing in to Google and all will sync over automatically. If you wish to keep everything in Outlook on the Droid 4, then you would want to reach out to Microsoft or search the Google Play store for available options.
Keep me posted of your progress.
    Thanks!

  • Selling a Moto Droid question......

If  I sell my Moto Droid can anyone buy it and activate it even tho I am still under contract? Would the phone be free and clear for whoever buys it?

they'll have to have a data plan or i don't believe verizon will let them activate it. if they have the $29.99 plan (or are willing to add it) then you should be able to just go into the store and have them active it. if the phone will be disconnected and you have no past due balances or any other issues with vzn (and i'm assuming it's not stolen or been reported as lost), then you can advertise it as a moto droid with a "clean esn." this will let buyers know that they'll have no problems activating it. i think you can even get the esn # (either off the phone or from zvn) so a potetial buyer can verify with verizon that it's clean.

  • How can i remove pictures from my droid turbo without having to use the touch screen on the phone at all?

how can i remove pictures from my droid turbo without having to use the touch screen on the phone at all?  my screen is cracked and i am waiting on a replacement phone.  as far as i can tell in order to access the phone storage through my computer, i have to use the touchscreen to enable it so that the computer will see it as a camera.  I can't do that as the top half of the touschscreen is unresponsive.  any suggestions?  teaches me to use the backup services offered in the future, but i still need a short term solution for this time.

I'm sorry to hear your screen is cracked spence425. I know its difficult to use the phone while its damaged. I'm happy you are receiving a replacement device. Have you saved any of your pictures and other data to the cloud? Here is a link about the cloud http://vz.to/1mF0GIx . Unfortunately, you will be unable to remove any data from the phone if the screen is unresponsive but if you are looking to transfer data to your new phone, it would have needed to be saved via the cloud first. Keep us posted.

Usually it's Outlook on a PC or Address Book on a Mac, so you just sync your contacts from either of those to the iPhone using iTunes.

  • Suggestions please: upgrade my Moto Droid to ?

I have had my Moto Droid since day 1, and am thinking about upgrading it to something newer.  A friend has a Thunderbolt and loves it, but he has to carry a spare battery in his pocket just to get thru the day.  Dont want to do that, but like his phone....  Any suggestions?
    Droid Charge?
    Wait for Droid 3?
    Wait for Bionic?
    Anything better?
    Thanks!!!!!

    Don't need/have access to 4g: Droid 3 most definitely.
Need/Want 4g: get an HTC Thunderbolt and buy the extended battery (the extended battery for this model is roughly double the standard life, instead of the usual +50% life batteries) or wait for the Bionic.
Alternately get an Xperia Play for stock android + VIDYA GAEMS! >_> <_< >_>
