Switching from Virgin email to BT Yahoo email acco...

We have recently switched over to BT Total Vision - but we are still paying Virgin broadband subscription too. I use the Internet all day for my business using a Virgin email account but now I obviously need to switch to a BT Yahoo email.
My husband's name is on the bill and he has registered his own BT Yahoo account but can't find out how to add an email account for me. Does anyone know how I can add my email address ?
We have received some info from BT on True Switch about transferring emails - which seems to cost £19.95 but I daren't close down the virgin account until I've sorted out the emails.
I already have my own Yahoo email, just to complicate things.

your husband needs to sign in to his bt account and then manage account and then set up sub account.  you will then get a btinternet.com address and your own password

And what does this have to do with the iPhone?
Check the Yahoo account on a computer, are the emails there?  If not... contact Yahoo and the email admin at work to address the issue.

I think you have to turn off Private Browsing.
Tap "Private" on Safari Screen to disable Private Browsing. When top of screen is white, Private Browsing is off.

  • Switching from Virgin Media..

Hey, I'm switching from Virgin Media very soon because of their dreadful customer service and looking around BT Infinity is in my area so i thought why not. But the reason why im posting is that I've been on NTL/Virgin Media for about 8 Years, but before that i had a BT phoneline.
When i got in contact with somoneone at a BT Call centre they said I would have to pay a £130 fee to change my line BACK to BT, i told them i used to be a BT customer but they said I still have to pay the full amount. Seeing as I've been a BT customer in the past, does that make my line still BT? I really dont want to have to fork out £130 at this time of the year.
TL;DR - Been a former BT customer but currently on Virgin Media, switching back to BT for Infinity Broadband and not sure if i have to pay the BT Line installation fee.
    Thanks alot in advance

have you contacted the sales team, to find out if they can do you a special offer?
you will be safe and secure with Bt's call centre, as it is in India, and their dedicated staff are not permitted to deviate from their scripted diagnoses, so although slow, they will get to solve any  problem when it arises.
welcome to the world of last wednesday week.

  • How to open an attachment from iPad....yahoo email

I use my yahoo email account on my iPad....how do I open attachments?

You should see the attachment as an icon in the mail. Tap on it to download.  you can also hold your finger down on it and see what options it offers you.
What kind of attachment is it? If it's some sort of document then the viewer in the ipad should allow you to view it.  Other kinds of attachments may not be able to be opened. All depends on what it is.

Ever since mobile me was eliminated and everything swiched to icloud, my imac has problems connecting to mail. Mail Connection Doctor shows it's only able to connect to icloud IMAP, but not my email IMAP, icloud SMTP or smtp.me.com:xxxxx.

When you move from MobileMe to iCloud, your active email addresses (@me.com, @mac.com, and all your aliases) move with you, along with all of your messages, mailboxes, and rules.

  • I cannot open any emails in my Yahoo email (IE8 does) - why?

First of all, I can open my Yahoo emails on my laptop which uses Firefox, and on my Kindle. But on my PC they just will not open with Firefox! They do open on my PC with IE8. I was using version 28.0 but reinstalled Firefox 28.0 to no avail. Any ideas for me? I do not want to switch to IE as my default browser!

#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

  • My Apple ID is my Yahoo email address My Yahoo email is now corrupted by the latest virus. Do I need to change my Apple ID to say, gmail, instead of Yahoo?  If I do change Apple ID, what are the consequences - do I lose apps etc? Thanks

Wondering if it is necessary to change Apple ID if my yahoo emails are infected by virus? If I do change it what happens to all apps  etc previously purchase ors acquired using the old Apple ID?

An e-mail account cannot be "infected." I'm guessing that you are seeing that it is sending out e-mail containing malware of some kind... if that's the case, that just means that either someone is faking your address in e-mail being sent from somewhere else, or your e-mail address has been hacked and is being used to send malware spam. Either way, it would be prudent to change the password on your Yahoo address, as well as any other online accounts that might be associated with, or that use the same password as, that Yahoo address.
As to the question regarding Apple IDs... all your app purchases are linked to your Apple ID, so if you abandon your current Apple ID, you lose all those apps. You would have to re-purchase them on the new Apple ID. So this isn't really a good solution, and isn't necessary in this case.

I used to use that app for that address on my motorola droid fine. Is there any way to make the factory app connect to yahoo email, or am i basically s.o.l.?

    Hi ctoth410,
Due to recent updates to Yahoo email, it is recommended to use their Yahoo email application to take full advantage of their email services and accounts. Additionally, you may be able to forward your correspondence from all your yahoo accounts to the one you have already setup and get your email that way. For email forwarding options please check the Yahoo support webpage.

  • Switching from Virgin Media to BT

    Hello
I've been a BT landline customer for over 20 years but my internet providor has always been NTL and then Virgin through cable. I would have chose ADSL but for years when performing speed checks I was only able to reach 4-8MB, apparently due to poor telephone lines. I think BT said I would have to pay if I wanted new lines put in but I cannot remember.
I would like to switch from my 50MB (recently upgraded to 100MB) to BT Infinity2. When entering my phone number it says I can get 48.8MB. I would like to know more information about this.
    1. Would BT install a fibre line for me without charge? Would/could they use the existing cable line in my house by NTL/Virgin?
    2. I already have a landline tariff but when selecting a package for broadband it says I must pay an addition 12.50 for a telephone line.
    3. If Infinity2 is not using telephone lines why would one need to buy a telephone line/pay for line rental anyway?
    4. I am utterly annoyed with Virgin Media forcing us to use their Superhub routers - the coaxial cable plugs straight into the router and the routers firmware is appalling. I would prefer, although not necessary, to use my own router. Would this be possible? If so, what type of router would I be looking for? For virgin, it was a "cable modem router".
    5. If BT install their own lines, would they still need the 'MAC address' from virgin? I saw this written in the "switching to" articles and I first assumed this meant that it was possible but to use existing virgin media lines for BT, until I realised that MAC addresses are needed to switch between providors on ADSL lines
    6. What type of support does BT provide for its infinity2 customers? Are the call centres in the UK? Is the support line a chargable call?
    7. I'm wondering out of curiousity, can consumers on infinity2 get rDNS or buy additional IP addresses?
Apologies for the mundane questions and many thanks in advance.

I would like to know more information about this. ***The actual speed that you get with Infinity is dependant on a number of issues including distance to you local cabinet and line quality. The BT estimate is usually quite conservative***

    2. I already have a landline tariff but when selecting a package for broadband it says I must pay an addition 12.50 for a telephone line. ***If you've already got a BT line that you pay for then you should only be paying the rental once***
    3. If Infinity2 is not using telephone lines why would one need to buy a telephone line/pay for line rental anyway? ***For BT Infinity a BT phone line is a mandatory part of the product offering***

    6. What type of support does BT provide for its infinity2 customers? Are the call centres in the UK? Is the support line a chargeable call? ***BT use overseas call centres, which I would have to say are the weakest part of the offering***
    7. I'm wondering out of curiosity, can consumers on infinity2 get rDNS or buy additional IP addresses?
***There is no static IP Address offering for infinity, but Dynamic DNS does work fine***
Apologies for the mundane questions and many thanks in advance.
See answers in line, and bear in mind the following...
There are two possible technology types for Infinity- Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) & Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) and it looks like your area uses the latter.  in this case you are still using the existing BT copper telephone cable to your house, but new larger green cabinets will have been installed locally which your phone line will be connected to. These cabinets are then connected back to the exchange using fibre optic cable the fact that the distance to the cabinet is much shorter than the exchange means that much high speeds can be obtained in conjunction with the fact that the technology is VDSL rather than ADSL

on my ipad3, i have a company email account, gmail account, and a yahoo account. my issue is that when using my company email account (making sure that my company email account is on the From: field), the recepient on the over end receives it with my google email account on the From:.  and so when they reply, it goes to my gmail account.
Please note that my "default email" is yahoo.com on the ipad's settings - > mail.
i do not have any forwarding and this only happens on my ipad.

  • Switching from Virgin

I am very tempted to switch to BT Broadband but the one thing which has prevented me is having to change my @virgin.net email addresses. I have been informed by BT sales that it is possible to switch to BT Broadband and retain my @virgin.net email addresses. I have done some searching but can find nothing to confirm this. My question is two-fold:
    1. Can I switch to BT Broadband and retain my @virgin.net email addresses?
    2. If I can switch and retain my @virgin.net email addresses, how do I access my webmail?
Any informed advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Your questions have been answered, but it might also be worth considering an email client to send, fetch and store messages on your computer; once set up, many find it more convenient than webmail. Thunderbird is a popular free program and is frequently recommended in these forums.

  • Switching from Virgin to BT. Never had a BT phone ...

Hi, I was just wondering what is involved in the switch over. We have phone sockets in the house, but as far as we know they have always been NTL/Virgin. We are worried that new wires would have to be run into the house, or is this all done on the outside?

you will need new external wiring and Openreach will fit a new master socket inside near were the wiring enters the house

  • Switching from Virgin to BT

i have recently got infinity availiblity in my area, confirmed by a big sticker on the green box down the street.
I plan on upgrading to BT as i feel virgin simply do not offer what BT does.
So i rang BT and they said i need a MAC, i ring Virgin and they say it should come within 5 days (rang them on Saturday)
ive been reading online and people say that i shouldn't trust BT to completely switch me over, because the guy on the phone said once i have the mac code they'll take care of the rest. They say i should ring up Virgin and tell them im leaving them and confirm all that stuff before i call BT to switch as many people keep getting charged.
So how should i go about transferring once this MAC code arrives? and how long does the BT engineer take? the first guy said 11 days and the second said 3 weeks?.

two months of no internet is unnaceptable, i would curl up and die. Not to mention i would probably take a open reach engineer hostage and make him install it. JK JK JK
Oh and should i not bother with that  £50 sainsburies voucher? i hear its simply a scam and you probably wont end up getting the code.
