Switching from Z10 back to Bold9900

Hi,could someone give me some advice please on how to switch from my Z10 back to my Bold9900.
thanks so much
Deebeez

You can't restore an OS 10 backup to the 9900, so first, tell us what data is on your Z10 that you wish to have on your 9900?
(personally, I couldn't go backwards, this Z10 is a great device, so much faster than my OS 7 devices ever were)

  • Help with switching from Z10 to 9900

I would be grateful for any help on how to make a smooth switch from the Z10 to the 9900. If there are any prior posts on this please direct me. I got the Z10 the day it came out in March but my company has refused to support the Z10 and I can't do without my work mail & calendar on my phone.

    Good day
What are you trying to back up if you don't mind me asking? Just your contracts?
Because your emails and calendar info you can sync to  your work email address but I haven't tried to downgrade since I got BB 10's
    I could be wrong!

  • Save a Switcher from Going Back to a PC Tonight!

I've been using PCs for as long as I can remember. With parallels available to run Windows XP within OS X, I finally made the switch and bought an MBP. Two weeks and one exchange later, I'm planning to return my MBP tonight and buy a VAIO SZ or Thinkpad.
But the truth is, I'm hoping someone on this forum can save me from going back to a PC. I've posted individually on some of these issues below, but haven't read any solutions. If you've got a solution to any of the following, please let me know!
    - HOT HOT HOT: This is my biggest problem. Completely idle w/ no programs open = 48C. Running a few apps = 60-65C. Peak = 78C. These seem in line with intelmactemp.com, but even the top/wristwrest at 65C is too uncomfortable to type on for longer than 1/2 hour. I've been waiting and hoping for thermal paste break-in, but no signs yet. Even then, I've read to expect only a 2-5C drop, which doesn't sound like much. I think I need 10C.
    - EXCHANGE INTEGRATION: I use Goodlink on my Treo 700p, and sync Notes and Tasks with Exchange so that I never have to sync my Treo with my computer. Entourage is horrible, but would be acceptable if it synced Notes and Tasks. From my Google searches, it sounds like there is no way to edit and sync Notes and Tasks with Exchange in OS X. Anyone have a solution?
    - GARAGEBAND HISS: When I record a podcast, I hear a hiss in the background every time I speak. Again, Google search and posts on forums yield nothing. This makes GarageBand unusable to me for podcasts.
    - ICHAT QUALITY: The very first time I tested ichat with my brother, we got a huge screen with great quality. Clearly H.264 at work. In the 10 times since with him and friends, I haven't been able to get that screen, even while monitoring Network Doctor and plugging in directly to high-speed broadband connections. The quality now is worse than Skype video on Windows. Any clue what's going on?
So that's it. The rest I can live with: poor battery life, heavy laptop for features, lack of dual-layer, no PCMCIA like the VAIO SZ which has both PCMCIA and ExpressCard, etc. But the above is just killing me, both on the hardware and software front.
    Please save me from switching!

Well I switched 2 years ago, some specific suggestions:
    - HOT HOT HOT: This is my biggest problem. Completely idle w/ no programs open = 48C. Running a few apps = 60-65C. Peak = 78C.
--- Mine runs at 43 deg idle 50 deg running apps, so this has never been an issue for me. Sorry....
--- Exchange doesn't sync notes and tasks. I use the palm entourage conduit to sync calendar and addressbook, but gave up using notes and tasks to sync - they just live on my palm now.
    - GARAGEBAND HISS: When I record a podcast, I hear a hiss in the background every time I speak. Again, Google search and posts on forums yield nothing. This makes GarageBand unusable to me for podcasts.
    ---- don't use Garageband
    - ICHAT QUALITY:
--- I chat usually gets blocked by firewalls when I'm travelling so I use Skype for mac instead
The only thing I'd suggest is to get out of the PC 'habit'.
The OSX interface is much nicer with its 'floating' windows, widgets and expose features.
The adjustment pallets in office are great.
Most of all I like the look and feel of the true fonts rather than windowsvery bitmapped 'jaggy' ones.
IPhoto, iWeb and Aperture are great for photography
Mail is nicer to use than outlook
Spotlight is superb for finding things really fast
I simply couldn't work without iDisk for syncing my work and swapping files
    Need I go on...?
Switching is about workarounds, giving some things up and finding new delights. You can't expect your mac to behave just like your PC as well as being a mac....

  • How to switch from Z10 to Q10

I have a Z10 and want to switch to Q10
i tried through the Blackberry Link, but once i connect the Q10 it doesn't transfer the backup, i even feel that the backup itself is not complete as it reaches to 38% and it suddenly finishes

    Hello shadisamra,
Thank you for your question regarding the backup issue you are experiencing with BlackBerry Link.
Are you using the device switch process or backing and then attempting to do a direct restore. Does the freezing at 38% occur when backing up the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone?

  • Switching From Mavericks Back To Mountain Lion (Without an Optical Drive)

So I normally am not one to post to a group asking for help (blame it on the mid-20's stubbornness), however I seem to have run into an encounter that I cannot exactly find via Google or through clever sleuthing. I have an Early 2008 Macbook Pro which I upgraded to Mavericks back in the early Spring. I currently would like to try to revert back to Mountain Lion or even possibily Lion, however my predicament is that I have unfortunately never ran a Time Machine backup (don't own an external) and my optical drive in the past couple of months has finally kicked the bucket. Since I'm unable to use the install cds to do a clean wipe and fresh install off of those, would anyone have a recommendation of what else I could do? Thank you so much and have a wonderful day.

You can only install Snow Leopard from an installer DVD. You can purchase one from the online Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
Alternatively, you could relate what problems you have with Mavericks. Perhaps we can help with those.

  • Switching from Entourage back to Mail...any suggestions

I downloaded Entourage and I am not happy with it, I want to go back to mail but I'm worried about the switch, anyone have any suggestions on keeping the previous emails?

If you have Entourage set up to use IMAP and leave messages on the mail server, all you need to do is simply not use Entourage any more. No big deal.

  • Switch from Comcast back to AT&T - Now Fax is not working on my HP Officejet J5700 All-in-one

    To HP Support:
My home phone was with Comcast.  My fax was working fine.  I have since switched my home phone to AT&T and now my fax is not working.
Question - what do I need to do to get my fax to work like it did previously?
    Please advise and thank you.
    Greeneyes4U2

Try first contact AT&T, there might be something they need to do. Nowadays, phone companies provide very different services, on some lines, fax just don't work. Here is an HP support page with some info that might be helpful.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00302247&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en

  • Switched from Yosemite back to Mavericks, iPhoto issues

    I have a 2008 MacBook (13" Aluminum).
Yosemite/OS X made it run incredibly slow, so I took it to a Genius Bar to see what they could do. The Genius tried to re-partition, but this did not work.  Instead she re-installed Mavericks (and it's running much faster!)
I back up with CrashPlan and was able to restore all of my files.
Somehow I lost iPhoto in the transition back to Mavericks.  All of my photos are in a giant CrashPlan folder on my desktop.  If I re-install iPhoto, will it remember my old iPhoto folders and organization?  I have 10K+ photos on my Mac.

iPhoto only reads an iPhoto Library. If you backed that up, then restore it into the /Home/Pictures/ folder. iPhoto does not use a folder full of pictures, but you can import them into a new iPhoto Library.

  • How do i switch operating programs back and forth from windows to apple

I'm trying to switch from windows back to the mac operating system. both are installed but i can not get it to go back to snow leopard from windows.

"Option" key at startup will let you select the system to boot, including DVDs or external cones if you have them inserted/connected.

  • HELP! Switching data from Z10 to Q10

    Hi!
Need help, during switching from Z10 to Q10, BBLink writes "new device have older soft than old" .
Is there any chance to do it???
Btw in Czech there is not Q10 in carrier offer.

    Hey Damirdz,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
If you do a switch device wizard the backup will overnight any data that is on the BlackBerry Q10.  You can not  merge the data during a switch device wizard.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Switching devices and Downgrading from Z10 OS10 to 9800 OS6

i recently upgraded my Blackberry Touch 9800 running OS6  to a Blackberry Z10 Running OS10
i am not to impressed with the battery life and features of the Z10. Now i need to downgrade i.e. switch devices back  from Z10 to 9800.
The Z10 using Desktop Link and the 9800 uses Desktop Manager.
Trying to Switch device does not work.
Can anyone please advise on what to do?
    Regards
    J

BlackBerry doesn't think anyone will want to switch from the Z10 back to a BBOS device so they haven't built any type of device switch for that direction. Hopefully, as the poster before me stated, you have a backup from your previous device that you can restore to the 9800.
Note: Do NOT attempt to put the micro sim into the 9800 using any kind of sim adapter. I ruined my 9810 attempting to do that. The sim got stuck and wouldn't come out. It ripped out one of the sim card contacts. Just giving the word of caution.

  • I am switching from a pc to mac and want to know how I go about transferring files from one to the other.  There is a chance that I will have to hand my pc back before I receive my MacBook so I will need to transfer on to some sort of external hard drive.

I am switching from an acer laptop to a MacBook Pro.  I may have to hand in my laptop before I receive my new MacBook. What is the best way to back up my files so that I can transfer them to my MacBook.  I cloud cannot be installed on my laptop because it uses a version of windows that is older and doesn't support it.  Hope someone can help.

Connect a blank powered external drive to the PC.
Right click on the Disk in the File manager and choose format: exFAT
(if it's a XP machine, first install exFAT from Microsoft and reboot)
navigate to your user account folders on the PC and drag and drop copy (or copy and paste) to the external drive.
(if a program has your files, then export them out first)
Hook up the drive to the Mac, and transfer files to the desktop or to their same appropritate folders.
Import photo's into iPhoto program, import music into iTunes etc and they will manage those files.
You can continue to use the external exFAT drive between Mac's and PC's
Do not format the drive NTFS or FAT, NTFS can't be written too by the Mac and FAT can't hold over 4GB sized files.
If you format exFAT on the Mac, it likely won't work correctly on the  PC.
"Migration" type programs are a utter waste of time and effort between PC's and Mac's for the fact that only certain files (and no programs or anything else) will work between them, also it's a hassle and takes too long. So don't even bother with it.

  • I switched from vista and lost all my music and stuff I can't get it back nor can i get all my purchesed items back. Is there anyway I can??

I really need this fixed its driving me crazy. I wish iTunes had a way of taking all the songs from the iPod and just downloading them to the itunes without having to delete all that is on there. I really want my Purchesed Items back. I wasted probably over 100$ on this....

Okay, doing my best to ignore the EXTREMELY annoying font you chose to use.
Is there a reason why you did not create a backup of your media and other important files before switching from Vista?
It is the users responsibility to back up their media, it is NOT Apple's responsibility.
When you purchase CD's or DVD's, if you lose them, you repurchase them.  Same deal with digital media.
If you have a backup of your media, simply copy the files from the backup to your computer.
If you still have access to your old computer, simply copy the files from it to your new computer.
