I have a PC and a iMAC, I only have internet on my iMac. Can unplug the internet cord and plug it into my PC then plug it back in my iMac with no trouble?

i Had a simular issue years ago with my blackberry on ATT. As it turned out, my SIM had some issues. I would head over to your carrier and get a free sim replacement. It could be a phone or SW issue, but the Sim is my first guess give my experience

Error 3256 work around - Switch speaker to computer then back to remote

I have found a quick Error 3256 work around. Switch the speaker to computer (drop box in bottom right corner of iTunes display) then back to the remote speaker. This beats starting and restarting iTunes.
Background: I have been using my airport express to stream music from iTunes on my PowerBook G4 to my stereo. Since the latest iTunes update I have been getting error 3256 when I try to start playing music after the computer has been in sleep mode. Stopping and restarting iTunes would solve the problem until the next time the computer went to sleep. By accident I discovered that switching the speaker setting to computer and back clears the problem.

Filter is blank after switching to another tab and then back

I perform a lot of filters using the data view for tables/views. However, when I switch to another tab (query editor) and then back to the data view, the filter is first executed (explanation in next sentence) and then blanked out. I was creating a filter and entered the string "<column_name> = '' " and then switched to a query editor to get the correct spelling of the value to fill in the quotes. When I switched back to the data view the filter had been executed using the null quotes (resulting in the previous values being lost) and then was blanked out. This gets a little annoying when a long filter is being built.

I apologize. I forgot to add the application details. I am using sqldeveloper version 1.5.0.52 build MAIN-52.03 using JDK 1.6.0_05 on a WinXP SP2 laptop.

Indesign CC lags when switching from browser/another app then back to Indesign

When i copy text from say, Word, and go to paste it into my indesign document, there is a delay. Example: When I go from Word, then back to indesign, I click on the text block and other items in my indesign window, but it's unresponsive, almost like it is frozen. After several seconds, which seem like forever, all is fine and i'm able to paste. This also happens when jumping from Chrome or Safari. It does not happen only when I'm pasting text, but also going from Chrome/Safari back to indesign, sometimes indesign is unresponsive then too. I have not noticed this in illustrator.
Today I had to a lot of copying and pasting from word into indesign and it happened all the time. I'm pasting anywhere from half a page to a full page of text. not giants amount at once.
fyi, i have "prevent app nap" disabled

i hear you. i just bought my new mac pro. my last mac was 8 years old and i used to only update my adobe software every couple of years, allowing the bugs to be worked out. i don't jump on the always-need-the-newest bandwagon.
however, i am now being forced into that very model by both companies:
having to join the cable company of software, creative cloud, or choose to never upgrade my 3 apps again, and by being subjected to apple's hardware/software updates, which can affect my workflow.
for me, apple and adobe have managed to work together fine for the past 20 years: bugs being worked out through updates/forums.
the blame game has been going on for as long as i've used these products. it doesn't really add to the conversation at this point.

YES! This is really killing me and you're the only one to bring it up in discussions! I constantly have to turn it off and on to get it back to norm, and this other reply about clean wiping in/resetting it is just too much of a pain in the @#*. I don't have the apple warranty, but do have verizon as a carrier with insurance. I wonder if they'll have a clue as to what to do, or just default to the idiocy that is the norm. Moving itouch photos to computer, then back

alright. so i'm trying to move my ipod touch pictures from camera roll/internal storage to the computer, then i would put them in my computer's folders, then sync them again. i like to organize things into their respective folders, and i don't want to use the "create a folder" option directly in the itouch because it's kind of confusing.
so, i moved pictures from itouch to computer, then i'll sync them again.
but why is it taking too much space? everytime i move 5-10 photos, the photo storage increases. why is that? shouldn't the photo storage capacity be stable already?
please help me! i just want to transfer my photos from the itouch to the computer, then put them in a folder and sync again without using up the capacity.

HT1560 If diagnostics says appletv is working properly, why does the install keep getting stuck on pairing with the computer then back to select resolution over and over.

First gen Appletv suddenly stopped working from one night to the next. This has happened in the past once and the usual restore, reboot, etc, tinkering finally snapped it back into working quite unexpectadly. The symptom is, after restore when it gets to the screen to pair with itunes by entering the numbers in itunes, the number is briefly up on the tv screen and then quickly is gone returning to the select resolution page. This happens over and over with each try while the Appletv never shows up in itunes and the number box never appears either to pair the computer with the Appletv. It does the same thing with my intel macbook so I don't think it's the Imac. I have dumped itunes 10 and reloaded itunes 9 with no change in the problem. My IP scanner picks up that the Appletv is on our network as soon as it turns on. I have used wireless, which it finds and logs into, and ethernet which also has it finding my network. I can't test whether it is actually on the network by trying to play a trailer or something because it will not go past that pairing screen in the initial setup. Are the built in diagnostics reliable when they say your appletv is working correctly. The hard drive isn't making any exceptionally loud noise as it spins up. I am stuck with this unit because I use it with a G4 Imac running Tiger 10.4 for a video/audio jukebox at the bar. New ATV won't work with the Imac unless it's running leopard I believe. The thing runs like molasses already so attempting leopard which I don't have anyway would really make it crawl. I love a good mystery/problem but this thing is driving me crazy. If I just could know for sure what component inside was shot I would replace it. Could a hard drive boot up to a degree and then get stuck at one part of the install, or would it have to be the logic board, or something else. Bad juju in the house or something

Message said repairing estimated time 1minute, yeah okay we all know how accurate those are process took about 5 minutes with nothing showing then all of a sudden printer permission repaired notations were flying onto screen in actions box. Do restart for heck of it sign on and so far no message has apeared where it did regularly. I hope this is indeed the fix. In meantime it never hurts to fix permissions so give it a try.

OS X Lion switching to 4:3 resolution, then back to 16:10 during boot

Hey everyone, so earlier today I installed a program called iDisplay to play with using my tablet as a second monitor. It was a .pkg installer that required a restart after the installation, so I figured it was making a few little tweaks to display settings in OS X. Well, the app was lame and I uninstalled the program.
Now though, whenever my MacBook Pro boots up, instead of getting the smooth transition of the Apple logo sliding up and revealing the login screen, the screen fades and changes to what looks like 640x480, stays that classic OS X blue for a few seconds, then switches back to native 1680x1050. All in all it adds a few seconds to my boot up before I'm able to log in.
This is more of an annoying problem than anything else, and I'm annoyed that a silly piece of software like this was the cause of it. There was no formal uninstaller that I could find so I just used AppCleaner, which scans for related files and deletes them too. Unfortunately I don't have a Time Machine backup that I could revert to.
To try and remedy the problem, I did a bit of research. I haven't found this exact problem, but others with similar display issues got some advice. So, I resetted my PRAM/NVRAM using the key combo on boot. I deleted the "windowserver" plist file in my home directory's Library > Preferences > ByHost. I also booted into Safe Mode, selected a lower resolution, reselected my native one, as if to "realign" the default, but it didn't work.
This problem adds several seconds to my boot time, and sometimes it fails to revert back to native res, leaving me with a small corner of the login screen with which I can't do anything, prompting another reboot. Does anyone have any other ideas of how I could fix this problem, short of a reinstallation?

You probably haven't deleted everything the program installed.
Check to see if it left a login item behind. Check Console to see if there's a log file for the installer; if so, it may list files you can manually remove. It may not have left one behind, however. I'm not a Console guru, but I have re-run the offending installer before and then looked at the logs and found where it put stuff and then removed it.
And of course try emailing the developer for instructions. Kinda lame they didn't include an uninstaller for something that mucks about like this; post something in reviews of it in iTunes to warn others.

Change your Workspace to Edit Workspace for example ( and save it as a Custom one)
BTW - I have never seen Audio Mixer and Effects Controls in a Panel with Media Browser from any of the Default WorkSpaces.

TS2529 I backed up my phone to my computer, then when I tried to restore the backed up version it hadn't backed up all of my content. What have I dont wrong and how do i find it?

I had a software problem with my Iphone 5 and so was told by someone in the apple shop that I should restore my phone to factory setting. So, i plugged into my computer and itunes, then backed up my phone to my computer. I wiped it and then clicked restore back up version. I did this the same way around 6 weeks ago when I was switching from my old Iphone 4s to my new 5, and didn't have a problem with it then. So, when I go onto my phone after it had finished restoring the backed up version I realised that the backed up version did not contain all of the data from my phone. For example, no text messages at all, no settings restored, and worst of all not a single photo. Not sure how this has happened, I cant seem to find the backed up version I did earlier today before wiping my phone. The only versions of my phone listed in the back up bit are the new crap version with all my stuff missing, or my old version from when I transferred from the 4s to the 5. I have managed to restore that version to my phone so at least I have everything I had up to 6 weeks ago. But i would really like the version from earlier today before it was wiped as I'm missing some important information and contact numbers. If anyone can help with this I would appreciate it. Thanks.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.

6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.

If you have Apple Care or your computer is still under warranty, give them a call and get a case number. Otherwise, take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.
