Switching iphone user accounts with itunes

Both my parent got iphones. My mom set up her account on her computer using my dad's email and info. So my Dad cannot set up his account on his computer. How do I go about removing one account, creating a new one for my mom, and then setting up my dad's account on his computer?
They are both running a pc with windows Vista

Hi,
They can use the the iTunes Store account on all four of the devices. If you want to change it for one computer and iPhone, just sign-in to the iTunes Store and sync the iPhone.
iTunes syncs the Store account thats currently signed-in. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311 provides more detailed information.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2731 will walk you through creating a new iTunes Store account with a credit card.

  • Switching Iphone user accounts

My wife and I have always used the same itunes account. I had an original iPhone and purchased a 3G model. My wife now wants use the old one, which I have no issues with. But she went and filled in her own address book so she would have her contacts on her iPhone.
She sets up her itunes on her user account using the same apple ID and password that I have since she does not have her own account. With all her stuff set up she went to sync, fully expecting to get the warning that it is sync'd with another user and will replace all info with that of the new library. It starts to sync and then stops with an error message stating that she does not have sufficient access privileges for this operation. What do I do? I am lost.
She has access through her user account to the music folder, both read and write. I am not sure what the next step is. Will we have to wipe the iPhone and start if over from scratch. I am sure if she doesn't have access to sync the iPhone, she probably won't have access to restore it, right? You help is appreciated.

Something seems strange with that second account.
    - Maybe give it admin privileges and try again?
    - You can try repair permissions from the /Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. (read help for how to)
    - Perhaps your Application Support folders are mussed up. Ctrl+Click the Library in her home folder and get info. Then make sure it shows she is the owner and perhaps try to apply those permissions to enclosed items (you'd have to hit the padlock and gear in leopard down at the bottom)
I'd make sure she has the phone backed up if she cares what is on it iTunes > devices > ctrl+click iPhone > Backup
Perhaps try to sync items one at a time and see if it is just a specific item giving you grief like calendars or contacts.
    - Worst case try a third user account and see if it is account related.

  • Error switching between user accounts with iPhoto

    Hello,
Currently I have two administrative accounts on my MacBook Pro.  I normally upload pictures to my admin account (since my apple ID is tied to that one), but use the other administrative account for the main family one.  The pictures are shared through iPhoto.  Everytime i switch accounts to access iPhoto, i need to "Repair it" in order for it to open properly.  Can someone give me the fix for this, or tell me if there is an easier way and still maintain two accounts?

Here are teh Apple comments on that - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US - experiance indicates that using an external hard drive is the more successful way to do it

    I recommend that you
Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old

Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
    and Settings>iCloud
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

All fixed! It was TeamViewer that was causing the problem.

  • 2 user accounts 1 iTunes library

So I'm still new to mac and was rebuilding my iTunes library under my user account on our iMac. When I switched over to my wife's user account, her iTunes library was empty. How do I integrate my library into hers? Thanks in advance.

It makes no sense that you cannot merge two iTunes accounts.  I am married and I would like to be able to merge my music with my wife's so we can share it across all of our devices.  It seems like the only way to share our music is to burn a CD off of our computers and then load it into the other one's library.  I like iCloud and I was hoping that there would be a way to have one iCloud account that links both of our iTunes accounts so we can share all of our purchased music across our devices.  There should be a solution for a one time merger of 2 iTunes accounts.

  • Songs purchased on iPhone through iTunes Store will not show up on iPhone after syncing with iTunes

I recently purchased iTunes Match (about a month ago).  Since purchasing Match, any songs that I have bought on my iPhone 4S (32GB, Sprint) through the iTunes Store app will not sync back to my iPhone after syncing with iTunes on my computer.  I have iOS 7.1.2 and iTunes 11.3.0.54.  The only way I can get them to show back up in my iPhone music library so I can play them is by re-downloading the songs through the iTunes Store app.  Which is super annoying because now it is about 10 songs that keep doing this, and they are in multiple playlists.  Is anyone else having this problem and have you found any fixes?  Really regretting purchasing the iTunes Match (which is not enabled on my iPhone, just on my computer).

How to create custom ringtones ...
    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Find the song that you want to make into a ringtone.
    3. Listen to the song and find the part of it you want to use. The chorus may be a good place to start.
    4. Write down the start and stop times of the clip.
    5. Right-click the song and select "Get Info."
    6. Click the "Options" tab.
    7. Type in the start time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Start Time" in the minutes:seconds (i.e., 2:01) format.
    8. Type in the end time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Stop Time." Make sure the ringtone is no more than 30 seconds long.
    9. Click "OK."
    10. Right-click your song again and select "Convert Selection to AAC." Wait for iTunes to convert your song. It will create a duplicate version.
    11. Right-click the ringtone and select "Delete."
    12. Click on the "Keep Files" button.
    13. Find the file. It's usually in your User folder under "Music > iTunes > iTunes Music" and under the band's name. It will have an extension of m4a.
    14. Replace the m4a extension of your ringtone with m4r. You can either double-click slowly to rename your file, or right-click and select "Get Info" on a Mac or "Rename" on a Windows PC.
    15. Click "Use .m4r" or the PC equivalent when the system warns you that the change may affect the use of your file.
    16. Double-click the ringtone file. ITunes will automatically add it to your ringtones folder in your iTunes Music Library.
    17. Connect your iPhone and sync your ringtones.
Oh, also to change a file extension. (not sure on Mac), but in Windows you need to go to "control panel" select "folder options". You need to uncheck the box "hide file extension for known file types". This will allow you to view and change the files extensions.
    Hope this is useful ...

    Yes, windows to Mac too.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

  • When I got my ipod I made an account with iTunes from my ipod.yesterday, I made a password lock to get into my ipod and I couldn't get into it even though I did the correct one. Now it says"connect to iTunes" BUT I can't because I never registered. HELP!!

When I got my ipod I made an account with iTunes right from my ipod.Yesterday, I made a password lock to get into my ipod and I couldn't get into it even though I did the correct one. Now it says"connect to iTunes" BUT I can't because I never registered on the computer. I've tried holding the home and sleep/wake button for 10 sec and then only the home for 5sec and that might have reset it, but it didn't help. If any of you guys know what to do so I can unlock it I would appreciate it VERY much.

If you haven't done so install iTunes on your computer. http://www.apple.com/itunes/
Follow the instructions here: iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • I had to reset a PayPal account with iTunes and now I keep getting a your apple I'd has been disabled on both my phone and iPod. I've already done the steps in iTunes on my computer now what?

I had to reset my PayPal account with iTunes and now I'm getting a apple I'd has been disabled on both my iPad and iPhone. I've already done all the steps on my computer.  Now what?

They give me that option when I'm setting up my account and I've got all that worked out. But my apple I'd is still disabled on my Mac, iPad, and iPhone. I can't download anything nor can I update any of my apps. I've even changed my account to a credit card and it still didn't help.
Any ideas?  I've put in a support request. Hopefully they won't take too long.

  • Windows XP to Windows 7 - 2 user accounts, 2 iTunes accounts - best way to transfer?

I have an old desktop running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004. Each son has his own user account, thus each has his own iTunes account and associated media files. I am moving the boys to a new desktop running Windows 7. As before, each will have his own user account. What is the simplest and most succesfull way to move their files from the old computer to the new computer without losing something or otherwise messin gthings up. Both are running    iTunes 10.6.1.7.
Should I organize the libraries before moving them? How do I make sure that the file paths stay correct? I don't think Home Sharing will work with the different user accounts, will it? I have an external hard drive that I can use to transfer the files from one computer to another, if needed.

Interesting side note. I'm still playing a bit with Home Share. I have the old and new computers sitting side by side. BOTH of these computers can see MY iTunes on a third computer located else where in the house. MY computer can see User Account "A"/iTunes library "A". you would think that the new computer would be able to see BOTH librarys - mine and "A", but it can only see mine. Any idea why?
NVM...I closed and opened Home Sharing again and suddenly BOTH libraries were visible. And now MY library shows up TWICE in the OLD computer.
Let's see if they are visible when I log back in User Account A rather than as administrator.

Good.  I hope it's going well!
If not, you should know you need a recent copy of iTunes on your computer.

    Where are you located?
Just go and buy an iTunes gift card at any store in your country.
Then follow all the steps you did, but when it asks you for the credit card number, there shoujld be a GIFT CARD option which will let you load your account witht eh funds form the gift card without providing a credit/debit card #.
