Switching Layers lag time

It look like Adobe support is on vacation. This is my thrid posting with no reply, but there is always hope.
My last issue is with the Configurator panels loaded. When switching layers there is a noticable lag time. This is also true with the "Configurator Ps CC Styles" example panel. Once again when these panels are closed and photohop restarted, there is no lag time in switching layers and from my previous post, the tool shortcuts work as expected (they do not switch back to the original tool as when the panels are loaded).
I am on an iMac OS 10.8.4.
Photoshop CC
When I do a Safe Boot, all the panels work as they should with no problems with the tools or with the layer switch lag.
Hopefully someone will be back from vacation soon and help me with this issue.
I see in a previous post that someone on windows was having the same problem.
I want to beable to put my panel creation on Adobe Exchange, but don't feel like I can until I know what causes this issue.
Thanks - Sam

The problem has come back on my Mac again and the fixes I did before no longer eliminate the lag time ore the shortcut tool switch. I see in past posts that his has been a requring problem for some on Macs and Window computers.
Tried to find Sample files from Configurator 4, but they are now misssing from my default Configurator window. I want to test an already made panel and see if the issue happens with the sample files. Where are the sample files?
Thanks in Advance - Sam

  • LONG lag time switching from other programs to Flash

    (Intec-Mac - OSX - 1.5 GB RAM)
Has anyone heard of this before? Any time I switch from any
other open program to a project in Flash, I get a super long wait
time before I'm able to work with Flash again. The lag time
only happens when switching to Flash (I get the spinning
ball of death while the Flash menus load again -EVERY time!)
This happens no matter if I have just Flash open and I'm
switching from the finder back to it or if I have 15 programs open
    at once...
It is super frustrating and slowing down my workflow between
Flash and any other programs! I just uninstalled and reinstalled
hoping it would help but got same result - Any help?

Your best bet at this point in time is more RAM, since the
    Flash IDE on
mac is only PPC at this time it runs emulated in Rosetta on
    Intel macs,
and I've noticed swap times can be quite slow, this is not
    unique to
Flash in my experience, it happens whenever I swap in a
    resource
intensive app. Parallels is another prime example - and it is
    intel
    native.
Adobe engineers appear to have a new found love of the Mac,
    so we can
only hope the intel native version ships it will be super
    zippy.

  • Pages Slow - Long Lag Time

I'm importing a Pages document that I created on my Mac Mini at work to edit on my iPad 2. I'm having a problem in that there is a terrible lag time as I edit -typing, deleting, adding text, etc. I can push 5-10 keystrokes before anything actually happens in the document.
This is very frustrating. Can anyone provide any answers?
    Thanks!

    I now have iPad2 (A5 dual 512MB )  and iPod4 ( A4 solo 256 MB ), both loaded with iwork 1.5 and iOS5 . Let me report :
I think Apple accidently have optimized iOS5 and apps  too agressively for the A5 processors of ipad2 and iphone4s. - ipad1, ipod4 and iphone4 run on the A4 chip.. and these are the devices that lag the most.
My keyboard is set to german plus additionally 2 international keyboards, so I can switch input characters when typing.
From what I see : on pad no typing issues so far - all can be left as it is.
iPod had severe issues in typing. SO I started digging around ( I even restored iOS on it it, but no cure ).
To make a long story short -- in iPod4 it helped succesfully to
disable the auto-completion and auto correction features in the keyboard settings and do a reboot:
where you can shorten often used phrases like: "otw" = "on the way" - I hope you know what I mean. Delete them all. Pages seems to lag on the iPod in such a way that it tries to foresee what I am going to type, "thinking" if it is a sentence or a phrase and if it needs correction..  The A4 cpu ( same as in iphone4 ) seems a bit overloaded with this. And to make things worse the tight memory of the iPod adds to the bad performace. The iPad2 has a faster processor and double the Ram ( this would match also the iphone4s hardware ) , and like I said the issues there are non-present for me on the pad.
Additionally it helped to limit spotlight search radius, so that it not constantly monitors changes in the device ( apps, contacts and music only for me  - as these do not change that often and with a one time index it is done).
iOS5 is buggy in very few features, but there heavily. The high cpu/memory usage, the fast battery draining are the worst. I positively see the 5.0.1 update coming soon to adress this. Reports from Developers and a vague anouncement from Apple to adress "battery life" soon indicate there is help on the horizon.

  • Incredibly Long Lag Time When Working With Effects in Premiere Pro CC 2014

I am having incredibly long lag times when working with effects in Premier Pro CC 2014.  Like 60 seconds or more.  This also happens periodically when I am doing something as simple as cutting into a timeline (just ripple deleting from and in to an out point).
    I have a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.9.4 2 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
I have seen that some people are having different versions of the same problem.  I do have RedGiant plug-ins, but I am not using any of them in this project.  The Red Giant plugs (again, not being used in the project) include MOJO and Universe.  The previous version most certainly did not work like this.  Any ideas?  I did try moving the Red Giant plugs out of the COMMON folder and "alt" starting up to reset preferences.  Still having same problems.
A specific example is I have an interview shot.  I add brightness and contrast.  Just making a change to the effect (increasing brightness) causes freezing of the interface and long delays.  I added a piece of transparent video on a top layer to add a CIRCLE to create a vignette effect.  Same deal -- ridiculously long times for effect changes to take place.
Does anyone have any clues as to how to fix these problems?
    THANKS FOR ANYONE'S HELP!!!!!!!

Got the same Error. Previous I worked with a GTX 760, and was hoping to get it fixed with using a GTX 780 6GB. But just as you, didn't solve the Problem.
Usually I got the Problem solved, with exiting Premiere, restarting it, reset my Workspace. Then the Problem of having the bugged Workspace was gone. And also the Problem of the missing Video Tracks.
At the moment I started on a new Project. Pretty simple, with only a 21 second DV footage. And here I was switching tabs with my Browser, came back to the Project, and the Video Tracks were gone. I saved, closed Premiere, restated and the Video Tracks are still  missing.
So I made a new Sequence, voilá the Video Tracks are there. Thus I need to copy and paste the Tracks onto the new Sequence.
But that is not really a solution!
I was on the Phone with Adobe, and on Chat, but they couldn't help me. They suggested to get a Tesla or Quadro Card, or at least a GPU that got confirmed as working on their page. I did that, but obviously, that is not the issue.

  • How do I use both a GUI switch and a timer to control an output?

Hi, I have no trouble setting up either a gui switch or a timer to switch a hardware output. However, now I am trying to use both to control the same output. That is, the latest change of either the timer or gui switch changes the output. I can do this by setting the gui switch output and the timer output into a software latch and connecting the latch to the hardware. The problem is that now the gui switch does not reflect the state of the hardware output (if the timer changed the state). One solution I can see is that there is both a push button 'change state' as well as an indicator at the gui but I would rather have all the functionality in the 1 switch. Any suggestions welcome!

It looks like you should be using a flip-flop object. This object changes state each time your input transitions from false to true. Also you would probably be better off using a push button rather tham a switch.
You can tie "your timer OR your pushbutton" to the input of your flip-flop. Then if you display the flip-flop on top of the push button you can easily see which state you are in. Then of course just tie your flip-flop to your output.
**This will work fine as long as you are NOT running multiple client applications. If you are running multiple clients, then it has to be done completely different. If this is the case please let me know and I will explain.
    Hope this helps

  • Switching off the Time Capsule: risk of damage?

Hello everyone. If I switch off my time capsule (1TB, recently bought) when not in use, for example at night (I think to connect it to a power strip), could I damage it? Or maybe only if the TC hard drive is running?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the discussions!
This topic has been pretty much beat to death on the forums as there has been and will remain different schools of thought on this.
One school maintains that there is a very good reason that Apple chose not to even put a power switch on the device, and that is that it was designed to run 24/7. Powering off the TC causes it to lose its connection with the local network and internet. When the device is powered back up, these connections must be re-established. Also, when any electronic device is powered up from an off state, the components within the device are subjected to a sudden rush of current. The school thinking on this is that the device will last longer if the unit is left on and subjected to less stress.
The other school says power it down when not in use to save a bit of electricity. They don't buy the theory that a sudden rush of current has any long term effect on the device and claim that the device may actually last longer because the electronic components are subjected to less heat this way over time.
Choose your school, or maybe a middle ground that would have the TC powered off for long weekends, vacations or other extended periods when the device is not needed for backups.

  • Syncing video output to the specified lag time (ms) of your monitor

Hey guys and lassies, I've got a question that I've been thinking about a lot, and I've looked around the web without finding a good answer, so hoping to get edumacated in the subject here!
I do a lot of video work in Premiere Pro CS6 where I want to be absolutely sure that I have perfect (or as near perfect as possible) synchronisation between video and audio. I'm building a new editing rig now and I'm wondering about monitors. What has me pondering at the moment is the different lag times the various screens have. Some of the TN screens are really fast, and some of the various kinds of IPS-screens are a lot slower. Maybe I'll use a TN for working and an IPS on the side for previewing and getting colors right. Is there a way to make sure that whatever lag time your screen has, be it 4ms or 40ms that you know that what you're seeing and hearing is actually IN SYNC for real, and not just because it synchs with your monitor? Can this be specified in the output settings anywhere?
I know that we're only talking about a frame or so here or there, but it's still something I'm really curious about and think would be interesting to find out. I've got a bad case of perfectionists syndrome. Thoughts on the subject?

i dont know of any programs or devices that can tell the report the delay from an external monitor. i guess if you really wanted to find out you could video record some test footage onto a camcorder, then bring that into premiere and look at the sync sounds on the timeline vs the video frame to see how far out it is. you would need high fps to really get accurate though and still may not be a good way to figure this out...
most people cannot tell delay over 100ms. so if your monitors are 4ms or 40ms and that is the limit of total delay vs audio it should not be noticeable. if it is noticeable and the footage is in sync on the timeline (frame vs waveform), you can try to compensate with an audio vst delay plugin (described below). just load up some sort of syncpop test footage in premiere and eyeball it to adjust the delay, to get an acceptable sync in playback on your monitors.
you can add a delay vst to the master channel, set it to zero dry, 100% wet and set the delay by milliseconds to get the desired result. the analog delay that is built into premiere might work, just have to double click on its name after adding to get to the controls. i haven't tested this, but this should be easy enough for premiere to handle the delay vst. if you need to add delay to the video this route may not work. i think there are some audio delay vst that get into negative delay but requires the host application to accept it.

  • IPod HD Lag times, this is crazy

I've recently upgraded from a 4GB Silver iPod mini, a HD based iPod and I've never had a problem with the lag times between choosing songs or skipping back/forward through songs.
But over the past 2 weeks of owning my iPod 5G 30GB I've become more and more unhappy with the apparent lag times when just trying to listen to a tune, plus I think I've found a bug in the 5G iPod (which I will list in a seperate topic).
When I select: Artist > Destiny's Child > #1's. The song will start playing, but the lag time between clicking the first track and it playing is around 3-5 seconds, you can hear the HD spin up, and it appears to lag on the Artwork a bit.
But then I clicked Skip 5 times, and counted the time until the iPod would play the track. 10 seconds! No word of a lie, you could hear the little HD click and whirr inside the iPod. It took ages to skip, and another age to bring up the Artwork.
I am hoping that someone can tell me if this is "normal" behaviour for the 5G or if there is a HDD problem here? (Could 30GB 5G owners please try the afore mentioned tested and get back with some times?)
iMac G4 Flat Planel   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Perhaps your problem is Fat32.
Mine is formated HFS+, since I use Macs, I don't
notice lag anywhere near what you guys state.
    Just a thought.
During my time mucking around with this I have noted that the Mac format is much faster! I also find that it takes about 30 seconds for the iMac to recognise the iPod when it's connected to the USB 1.1 port and using FAT32, whereas using HFS+ the connect time is about 5-10 seconds. It appears that OS X likes to see it's native drives a lot faster than FAT32.
I think my times are generally accurate, my tag carrera wristwatch generally keeps time ok.
The reason why I find these times so long is I had a 4GB iPod mini. Whilst the HDD is smaller, it was a lot faster with it's seek times. My little mini is just as fast to skip tracks as a workmates 4GB nano! So coming from a little HDD to a large HDD I don't really expect the lag times. But it appears to be a way of life with the 5G and I can put up with that 'cause I can watch Lost on that little thing.

  • Why am I experiencing long lag times after installing Mavericks?

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks on my Mac Mini;  Why am I experiencing long lag times?

Not enough free disk space can cause the lag times...
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage. Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
Do you have anti virus software, MacKeeper, and CleanMyMac installed?
    Checked the disk lately?
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
Make sure to back up all important files first before using OS X Recovery.

  • Lag time in texting

I have the iphone 5 I have updated my ios 6.0.1 I noticed that there is a lag time when I am texting or writing e-mail. I have tried turning the phone off and back on but it did not help.  The delay is still there ...I am not a fast texter but there is a one to two second delay between letters.. also my iphone is a 32 gb and I have only used half of the storage memory.. so it is not the memory space that is the issue.. is anyone else having this issue, what can I do to fix it. Do I have a malfunction phone?

Close all apps from MultiTasking and make a Reset.(Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.)

  • Lag Time in Calling Methods?

I ran the two code examples below and got the same elapsed time for both: 10 ms. I was wondering whether calling a method causes lag: for instance, if you had to add four components to a frame's content pane, would calling getContentPane() four times be less efficient than setting up a reference to the content pane container and adding the four components to the container that that is returned?
The reason why I think that there would be a lag time, however infinitessimal, is because calling a method pushes an EIP onto the stack and returning from a method pops the EIP from the stack. It only makes sense that skipping this step would result in faster execution (once again, however infinitessimally faster that would be).
Here is the code for the two programs I used to test this out. The examples go back to my example above -- I am setting up a reference to the content pane in one example and continually returning it in the other. As I said, both returned the same elapsed time: 10 ms. I'm not sure whether my method of timing the programs was inaccurate or whether there really is no lag time in calling a method. What is the verdict?

You're probably using some operating system where the smallest time interval you can measure is 10 milliseconds.
I would suggest that pushing something onto the stack would take an interval measured in nanoseconds. You have, let's say, a 1 gigahertz machine? That means it performs one billion operations per second, give or take. That's one per nanosecond.
There are a million nanoseconds in a millisecond. You're going to have to run a LOT of code to take a measurable amount of time.

  • HT4528 My new iPhone has a lag time before it turns on?  I need to make an appt with Tysons to get it repaired.

My new iphone has a lag time before it turns on.  I think it may need to go into Tysons for support.  Do you have any other options for me?

What exactly do you mean by lag time when tutned on?  If you startup from a shutoff condition you have to hold the power button for a few seconds before the startup sequence begins...and then the apple logo will stay on-screen for a minute or so as it powers up.
If you are talking about waking from sleep, how long is this taking?
If you are concerned, by all means take it in for testing...but Apple does not repair iPhones, they replace them if defective.
