Switching my radio

I have recently upgraded my Curve 8330, to a newer Torch 9800. I have somehow managed to turn the radio off, on the Curve. I'd like to at least turn that part of the handset on (or enable it, at least), in readiness for a potential new owner. Can someone please tell me how I might do this? Thanking you in advance for any assistance!

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

  • 6280 switching off radio problem

    Hi all.
When using radio on my 6280 I disconnect hands-free (from the sales package) and receive message "Connect an enhancement". It’s ok.
But I receive the same message when I try to switch off the radio! So to switch it off I should connect hands-free and only then I will have possibility to switch the radio off. Looks like a bug.

For me it is not strange. I'm frequently using this feature when I have to turn off the radio quickly.
Imagine the situation when you are walking through the street, have the phone in a pocket and want to quickly turn off the radio for a minute or two. Sometimes I'm using this to answer phone without HF (ie. in a bus, where people look at me like they saw an alien when talking to myself (HF) ).
I just disconnect HF from phone. Then I reconnect it and radio works again.
If you left radio on and HF disconnected the radio will turn off automaticaly after 4-5 minutes. You can see a message "Radio off" or simillar.

I have the wires but not the switch.
Can I just buy small switches that fit my leads or do I need to know amps/watts/roentgens  :D ?
Thanks if you can help. If you need more data I'll do what I can.
There is some data as to the system in this thread

Just get the switches that fit where you want to put them.  There is nothing special about the regular switches since they carry very little current and are low voltage.

  • 603 RM-779 - No way to switch FM RADIO modes throg...

    Hi!
I only saw the setting for the FM frequency during the initial setup - either a lower FM radio range (Japan) or a higher one (USA/etc).
I travel between both countries and find that there is no way to swtich the frequency range between both settings! =O
The next Belle update should have a frequency setting to allow travellers to enjoy listening to FM radio without having to somehow fully reset the entire phone to get back to the initial FM setting page.

Doesn't  <II   or   II> help when you move to another region ?

    The mute has somehow disconnected.
Best thing would be to have a profesional installer check this for you.

  • Control wireless radio switch (Fn + F5) via Windows Registry / software

In a school environment, the students have discovered they can cause trouble by using the Fn+F5 software switch to disable the Wifi radio. I know the hardware LED goes off when this happens, but the teachers are too busy to identify this. The result is that users cannot login, and the Windows Welcome screen is not intuitive enough giving an error message "There are currently no logon servers available".
I'm interested in applying a "fix" for this issue on startup. Possibly a Windows Registry fix, to "force" the Lenovo software switch to turn Wifi on.
I've had a poke around with a registry comparison between off and on states, and am currently getting the following diff (amongst other changes, such as DHCP etc):
    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0018\RadioEnable: 0x00000000

However, forcing these dwords to 0x1 does not seem to be enough to switch the radio on.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Is there some underlying BIOS/UEFI setting that might be able to be accessed via software?
    Solved!

Acxtually I've found it after a bit more research. Can be controlled via the command line:

  • MuVo TX FM radio prob

    Hi!
I have a muvo tx fm (256mb) player which was bought in France.
For a while the fm radio worked just fine. Then the player started to freeze if I try to tune to any station.
Out of approximately 0 attempts I can get the radio work only once. But even if it turns on I still can't tune to any frequency, the player just freezes again.
The only thing I can do after it freezes is to disconnect it from the battery and reconnect again.
I have the firmware version .00.04.
I tried the latest firmware .3.03 but with it the player stops responding right after I switch the radio on. So i downgraded back to the original firmware.
Anyway i still can't get the radio working.
    thnx and regards,
    Konstantin

But the other way around, jumping backwards isn't any problem at all. But it's pretty annoying hearing the same songs over and over again when having capacity of GB.:mansurprised: Could somebody help me, please?

  • Muvo TX FM: is the 256mb slightly faster than the 512mb when switching modes?(and starting u

I was just wondering if the muvo tx fm 52 is slightly slower than the muvo tx fm 256 when switching modes ?
because i have the 52 and my dad has the 256 and i noticed there's a difference
both of them have the lastest firmware on them .5.0
both of them are reasonably full / capcaity close to full
when i switch from radio mode to music in folders mode : the transition between the two modes are smooth and immediate on the 256
but when i do this on my 52 : i seem to have to an extra second of waiting time before it goes back into music mode
yeah i know it's a bit nitpicky to bring such a thing up , but i thought it was strange that there would be a difference , since they're both the same model and firmware ( only a difference in capacity between the 2 )
this occurance didn't start to happen until i upgraded it recently to .5.0 ( when this occurance starting appearing )
or maybe it's just my 52 that does this ?
anyway another thing that's strange that i've tested :
if i do switch back to an older firmware version for my 52mb : this extra delay between switching modes is non-existant / goes away
( it was non-existant before i upgraded to the new firmware )
also another thing i've noticed is the 256 seems to be faster at starting up after turning on too
when i first turn it on , only takes till the /4 of the sand in the egg timer icon and drained to the bottom before it starts playing music
with the 52 , it doesn't start playing music until all the sand in egg timer icon has drained to the bottom ( a second longer wait before the music starts playing )
also another thing to note is that
the firmware that came with the 256 , was .5.0 ( bought in april )
i bought the 256 a couple of months ago
with my 52 , which i had since december : i've used firmware old firmware that came with that ( i think .0.04 ) ( until switching to the newest firmware recently )
i was just wondering what's calling this extra seconds worth of delay in my 52 , that's not present in the 256 ?Message Edited by low-quality on 07-04-2005 0:43 PMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 04:08 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:37 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:38 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:38 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:38 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:39 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:39 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:39 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:40 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:40 AMMessage Edited by low-quality on 07-05-2005 05:42 AM

Sounds like it could be because of the capacity difference, maybe a mod could confirm this.

  • AirPort Utility 6.0 Invalid Channel switching from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz

I have AirPort Utility 6.0 and the older Airport Extreme Oct 2009 (FC340LL/A) without the duel radios.  I believe I found a bug in the AirPort Utility 6.0 when switching between wireless modes.  When I asked the AirPort Extreme to operate at 5Ghz 802.11n only and picked the channel in the 100's it switch over fine.  I realized that the iPhone's must not have a 5Ghz radio in them because it could not find my wireless network anymore.  When I went back to the AirPort Utility to change it back to 2.4Ghz .11n or really trying to switch the radio back to 2.4Ghz I kept getting invalid channel when trying to save the config and update.  It seems that the  AirPort Utility 6.0 would not keep the channel setting saves to what I selected.  It did not matter if I picked channel 1 or 11 or automatic.  After quitting the AirPort Utility app a few times rebooting the AirPort Extreme a few times the only way around this was to tell the AirPort Utility to default the setting on my Extreme back to factory defaults which changed the radio back to 2.4Ghz mode.
Any suggestions Apple or anyone else ran into this problem?

I am experiencing this same problem.  When switching to the 5ghz only radio it reports the channel is invalid when I attempt to update.  Whether I choose automatic or any other channel it keeps saying it is invalid.  I am running the latest updates on my macbook pro and airport utility 6.0.  My airport express is version 7.6.1.  It is being run in bridge mode.  I also have a time capsule in bridge mode as well.
I am still working on this.

  • No wireless if switch is off on boot

My vaio laptop has a wireless kill switch, if it is switched off and then boot the system, there is no wireless detected even if I switch it on later, I noticed Opensuse 11 also has this problem, they both have kernel 2.6.25, however, Ubuntu Hardy (kernel 2.6.24) does not have this problem, I can switch the wireless on after boot and the system just detects and scans wireless network.

What megamixman says is right, that's how you need to automate the use of the kill switch. On my Vaio, the acpi event is given to my acpi handler script as:
    arg $1 = sony/hotkey
    arg $2 and arg $3 = I forget, it down't matter
arg $4 = 0000003c to mean radio was switched on, 0000003d to mean radio was switched off
But your hardware may be different. You'll need to log the events or something to see how your hardware is reporting the kill switch actions.
All that being said, though, I think the original poster may have had a different concern: maybe he's finding himself unable to even MANUALLY start up his wifi, if he boots with the radio switched off but subsequently switches it on. If he can't do it manually, then he can't script it either.
If this is the concern, then I suggest that maybe booting with the radio switched off results in your wifi driver not being loaded. So after you switch the radio on, you may have to manually do something like this:
    sudo modprobe iwl3945
That's assuming you use sudo not su; and you should replace your own wifi driver for iwl3945. That's what I use on my Vaio, but perhaps you use iwl4965 or something else.
If that doesn't help, then sorry, I don't know what else to suggest. Other than always booting with the radio switched on. How often do you boot your laptop anyway?

  • How do you or can you resume songs from radio adapter?

I have a question and a suggestion all in one. The question is how do I set up the ipod to resume imported music, i.e. songs I loaded from my computer, when I am done with the FM radio adapter. A little background, I like to listen to a radio shows in the mornings at work until 1pm. Then I like to switch to loaded music. Unfortunately, when I do this, I have to scroll through my 3000+ songs to continue where I left off the previous day( I believe this is called bookmarking? ). This becomes more and more time consuming as I get further down the song list. However, when I go from videos to songs it does bookmark where I was and I can just pickup where I left off. This is an odd issue with the ipod as the other mp3 players I have had with the FM option just automatically did this. Switch from radio to music and begin where you left off even in the middle of the song-so that was cool. Cannot do this with ipod that I know off.

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. Check out the links below and make the change on your own computer before you connect it to the second one:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing Your Songs Manually
    Some additional info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Linux WiFi/BT/3G Switch

Hello! Sorry for my English at first. I'm wondering is there any chance to implement switch to turn on/off Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth radio separately? As we can see, Nokia doesn't support other OS than Windows.
I have Ubuntu installed on Booklet and can only switch all radios ON and OFF. Also I don't want to disable services because the device is still active and use battery. Maybe I can write simple script which communicates to some hardware switcher? Anynone has experience with that?
    Regards

So, I will check the battery usage with enabled/disabled radios. Thanks for your reply!
However,  I will be grateful if someone write how to disable only bluetooth in Linux for example. Yesterday I found that DarrenKitchen (http://www.darrenkitchen.net/run-ubuntu-9-10-on-the-nokia-booklet-3g-perfectly) put a few tips for that, but the link is broken now

  • Changed radio mode to 5 ghz using AirPort Utility, but download/upload speeds are unchanged.

I'm using both a Macbook that is 5 ghz compatible as well as an Airport Extreme that is able to transmit 5 ghz. When I switched my radio mode from 2.4 ghz to 5 ghz and ran speed tests, the download speed was at 2.7 mbps each time...in other words, switching to 5 ghz made no increase in my download/upload on the speedtest. Is there a reason for this?
Does the speed of my internet have an effect on how fast my wireless can transmit?
    Thanks!

People have been talking about how their internet speeds have increased dramatically with the use of the 5GHz option.
Unfortunately, they don't have the correct facts that they need. As John says, your Internet connection speed is limited by your ISP.  Even the slower 2.4 GHz "g" speed on your router is likely much faster than your Internet connection will allow, so having even higher speed capability with 5 GHz on your network buys you nothing as far as the Internet connection speed is concerned.
Simply stated, a router cannot "speed up" the Internet connection. That is controlled by your ISP. If you need faster Internet connection speeds, you need to check with your ISP about a faster....and more expensive....plan.
Where 5 GHz can help is on a local network between devices. Say, you want to copy a file from one computer to another, or from a computer to a hard drive over the wireless. In this case, 5 GHz will allow the data to transfer at a higher, faster rate than a 2.4 GHz connection.
The result is that it will take less time for the file transfer to occur using 5 GHz on your local network.
