Switching off iTunes Match

I've just switched Match off on both my iPhone and iPad after an issue on my phone where my battery gt drained and a huge chunk of data used. Why have downloaded songs been left on my iPhone but the whole music library been removed from the iPad? The music had all been downloaded most before I used Match

This is exactly my issue, even when the 'entire music library' is selected on the music tab, the gauge at the bottom (the blue showing audio) only shows 2GB.
On the top right of this tab however, it still states 8,000 songs. My iPhone 4S is in (almost) complete denial of my library. The other iPhone 4S linked to this library has no issue syncing the entire collection.
I have also tried selecting the other option where you manually check playlists, albums etc, and selected EVERYTHING manually, and still only 2 GB of my entire colletion is picked up.
My next options are backing up my entire library, deleting iTunes and all components and reinstalling, but what if this doesn't fix it? I have wasted so much time on Match so far :-( I could also make an appointment with a genius and bring laptop and iPhone 4S to the shop as a next step.
At this stage I would be happy if they refunded my Match subscription so long as I had my entire collection back on my iPhone.

Why does my iPhone remove all music when I switch on itunes match?

How I usually put music on my phone is to switch on itunes match and download from the cloud the music from my library, then when finished
I switch off itunes match and I am left with the music I wanted. However, if i then put itunes match back on it will wipe all songs, leaving me having to download ~700 songs all over again for the sake of an album or two.

Instead of switching off iTunes match, switch off the show all music tab just below it.
It will hide all the non downloaded iTunes match songs.

Thank you for asking your question! It sounds like iTunes Match playlists are not syncing correctly to your iPad, even though you have already toggled iTunes Match off then on again. I would next turn iTunes Match back off, then close all the apps on the iPad:

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that, sign out of your iTunes account in Settings > iTunes and App stores, and restart the phone then try turning on iTunes Match again to test the issue:

Problem solved. Sort of an RTFM issue.
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > iTunes Match [switch to OFF]. Re-sync.

Can I turn off iTunes match on one computer only?

I have iTunes installed on two laptops, one at home and one at school (I'm a teacher). iTunes match has worked great for my home computer and iPad, BUT...I do not want my music on the school laptop. Is there a way to turn off iTunes match on one machine only? I thought I had turned it off, but when I went to add some audio books for school it said it was adding them to iTunes match and now the books show up on all my devices.
To be clear, I want to keep iTunes match for my personal laptop and iPad, but would like to turn it off on the school laptop.

Yes. To turn off match Go to menu > store > and select turn off itunes match.
To turn it back on you need to turn on from same point but you will be asked to sign in and add this computer.

To keep playlists on the phone, create them on the phone
To keep music on the phone, download the tracks before turning off Match.
But turning off Match isn't really necessary. Just turn off Show all music in the music app settings, or do not attempt to play a track that has a cloud icon (i.E. isn't downloaded).

Ok, so the likely cause is 1 or more Songs are tripping up iTunes Match. To resolve, move to Song view, switch on iCloud Status and iCloud Download fields - sort the view on iCloud Status - identify Songs with status other than Purchased, Matched or Uploaded. Temporarily remove them from the library, allow iTunes Match to complete the 3-step process. Gradually import the Songs back in - any that cause a repeat failure, place in a playlist, burn to audio CD and import as 256k AAC.
Note: iTunes Match service in UK at present is intermittant, may be worth trying from 1200 tomorrow to give Apple the chance to complete its current updates.
