Switching OS platforms- Mac to PC

I recenty had to switch my computers--- mac to a pc, and installed my CS5 Design Suite Mac version on the mac about 6 months ago. Does anyone know how I can install CS5 onto my new PC since my license software is for mac os? Since adobe has moved onto cs6, am I unable to just download the trial version and then enter the product key that I currently have? I don't want to have to purchase a new license when I can't even operate the Design Suite on my Mac.
Any suggestions or help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

No your only choice is to purchase an upgrade to switch platforms since it is an older version.  You can find information regarding the different CS6 suites available and upgrade pricing at http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/buying-guide.html.

    Best,
    James.

you cannot use your pc license to install on a mac.  you would need a separate license (and serial number) for that.
adobe allows platform swaps, but only with the latest (xi) version, Order product | Platform, language swap
your option to use acrobat on a mac are to upgrade to acrobat pro xi and change platforms, use a windows emulator (parallels/boot camp etc) on your mac or swap with a third party.

  • I currently have a licensed version of CS6 for my PC but I want to make the switch over to MAC soon.  Is there a less expensive way to have CS6 without having to buy it all over again?

  • I have a CS3 for windows and I switched to a mac.  Can I get a mac version without having to pay for the suite again

I have a CS3 for windows and I switched to a mac.  Can I get a mac version without having to pay for the suite again?

    No.
Adobe only offers a Platform Swap on current software: Order product | Platform, language swap
CS3 is also too old to have an "upgrade path" and is no longer sold or supported by Adobe.
You do, as a CS3 owner, qualify for a 40% discount on your first year of a Creative Cloud Subscription though: Creative Cloud pricing and membership plans | Adobe Creative Cloud
If you don't want to go with the subscription service, Adobe does still offer CS6 (4 versions away from current & no longer receiving updates) as a "one time payment/download" perpetual license: Creative Suite 6

  • Already purchased elements 12 for windows 8 , i switched to a mac , do i need to repurchase?

Already have elements 12 for windows 8. i switched to a mac . Must i purchase the mac platform , or can i download mac platform since i bought the product already?

Well, if you had bought the boxed version there would be no problem, but download serial numbers are supposed to work only on one platform. Try downloading the mac trial and entering your serial number. If it works, great. If not, you can contact adobe to do a crossgrade if you're willing to give up the windows version.

  • Should I switch to a Mac?

Hi, I have always been a PC user but I've been wondering if a mac might suit me better. I am a fairly advanced user, I spend most of my time programming (mostly in Java), doing web and graphic design, making YouTube videos, listening to music, and gaming. I am most concerned about programming and gaming on a Mac. I know Java covers all platforms, but what about other languages? Also I don't play PC games often, but when I do they are pretty demanding games like Skyrim, Civilization V, and Minecraft. I mostly play Steam games, are all steam games available for Mac, and are the Mac gaming specs at least decent enough to run some of the games I listed? If not can I upgrade it's RAM and graphics card? And programming is a huge problem as I mentioned above. Please help me out, let me know if it's worth switching to a Mac, preferabley without bias, I need honesty as this is a huge decision. Thanks!

    Hello & welcome!
Games are a bit shorter supply on Macs, but you can actually run Windows on a Mac, never used Steam, have played Civ V on an older 2007 iMac, plays fine, (but I don't much care for it compared to Civ IV & Warlords).
If not can I upgrade it's RAM and graphics card?
Ram, most, but not the new 21.5" iMacs, Graphic Card no.
I run Windows, Linux, & OSX, they all have their drawbacks & advantages, but I guess I dislike OSX the least.
As far as programming tools, I think you can still sign up for a free developer account & get Xcode...

  • Boot Camp, How to switch back to Mac OS X from Windows?

I successfully installed boot camp and Vista on my imac so I could watch netflix on my computer (other than that I have no use or patience for Vista or Windows). Now, I am in Windows Vista and am unable to switch back to Mac OS X. I have looked everywhere, including the Windows Help and Support and I can't see how to close Windows and get back to the good side.

Open the Control Panel, click on Startup Disk, and change the setting; this item will only appear if the Boot Camp drivers are installed. Alternatively, restart the computer with the X or Option keys held down; in the second case, select the Mac OS X system, push the button with the straight arrow, and change the startup disk from System Preferences afterwards.

  • HT1533 How can I switch back to Mac OS X from Windows 7 Bootcamp?

I'm having problem switching back to Mac OS on my Macbook Air.  It's currently running Windows 7 bootcamp without a Mac OS installed with it.  I tried booting up on Mac OSX installer disc (Snow Leopard) on the external CDROM drive but it boots to Windows instead.  I tried the Boot Camp Control Panel on Windows and Restart to Mac OS X but it could not find an OS X intalled and I tried changing the startup disc to the installation disc on the CDROM and restarted but still goes to Windows.
    Please HELP!
    Thank you.

The MBA did not ship with an OS on DVD because they don't have an optical drive. There are two kinds of OS disks - commercial release, which for Snow Leopard is 10.6.3 I believe, and machine specific. If your SL disk is gray it isn't going to boot your MBA because it isn't made for the MBA. If your SL disk has a cat on it look at what specific version it is. As I said, I think it is 10.6.3 and while I wasn't able to find out what specific OS version your MBA shipped with, I'm pretty sure it was a version later than 10.6.3 and if I'm right your disk isn't going to boot the computer. You'll need to either contact Apple for a valid replacement installer or find someone with a Mac who can make a valid installer on a USB drive or DVD.

    Hi Hal,
One possibility, is a strange occurence when applying the big 10.5.8 combo, most people have to Repair Permissions twice in a row, then reboot.

To switch between your Mac mini and iMac, you just have to turn on or off Target Display mode. To do it, press Command and F2 keys in your iMac, not only F2

  • Switch On Time Mac Pro 5.1

    Hello,
    i have a Mac Pro 5.1 Mid 2010, 2 x 2,93 Ghz.
When i switch on my Mac Pro with a RAM-Configuration of 4GB, it takes about 4 secounds to see the grey screen with the Apple-Logo.
A RAM-Configuration of 24GB uses about 24 secounds to see the grey screen.
Is that normal that a Mac Pro with more RAM uses more time to come up?
I´m not talking about booting from disk, only the time after switch on to the grey screen.
    Thanks to all

Use whichever you like, but they will not mix-and-match.
Early on, larger sizes were only available as RDIMMs, which would not play nice with others. This was a requirement because those early DIMMs required multiple chips, so you needed the Register to provide one apparent Bus load.
Today, only the 16GB modules are RDIMMs.
So if you are not headed for 64GB, use unregistered.
In the US, I recommend this low-cost high-service Vendor:
    http://www.datamemorysystems.com/apple-mac-pro-memory-upgrades/
Their line-items clearly call out which are Registered.

We need to get you moved. This forum is for mini-tower Macs built between 1998 and 2005 and doesn;t get as much traffic ("eyeballs on the problem") as the forums for newer Macs.
Please do "About this Mac" from you Apple menu and tell us what that says for "processor" and Mac OS version. Looks like this:
or this for later Mac OS versions:
With that we can figure out which of the two iMac forums you need and get the Hosts to move your post.

  • Two Switches with same MAC+Priority running STP

    Hi
what will happen if two switch with same MAC-ADDRESS and same STP priority will run STP , how will elect to the root bridge ???? how the STP process will handle this situation?
    thanx

Well, first off, no two switches (or switchports) will have the same MAC (if they do, you're buying switches from the wrong, very bad place).
Every port of the switch will have (at least) one MAC of it's own.
Given the same priority for all switches/bridges on the LAN, the lowest switch/bridge MAC on the LAN will win as the root.
VLANS take on the MAC of the administrative interface ("CPU"): i.e., xxxx.xxxx.5000, the first port (i.e., fa0/1) is xxxx.xxxx.5001, the second (fa0/2) is xxx.xxxx.5002, and so on
If you do a "show interface", the MAC / bia is displayed in the second line.
    Good Luck
    Scott
