Switching over to a standby with a 24 hours apply delay

Hi
I would like to setup a 10.2.0.4 standby database with a 24 hours apply delay.
I want to be able to switchover my primary database to a day old database in case a user error occurs .
Is that even possible ? I undestand that in order to do a switchover - I need to cancel the apply delay..
Can I switchover to the standby without having it brought up to date ?
If yes - how is that working wit hthe primary ( which is 24 hours ahead ) becoming the standby ?
If not - what is the point to that delay anyway ? is it only good for a failveor /standby activation ?

OrnaIt sounds like you may be using the wrong tool for your purpose. What is the business problem you are tying to solve? What kind of user error are you anticipating that you would want to be able to revert a database that is missing the last 24 hours worth of activity?

Switch over in an environment with multiple standby

i currently have one primary and one physical standby, I am due to create standby no2 on a different server and then use the new standby as primary ( migrate current primary to a new system) .
I like to know
1. if i can create new standby using backup copy of current standby? how about creating it over network? Is it possible? ( I want to avoid load on production)
2. what happens after I switch over to new standby ? will my current standby become invalid? what are the options and best practices?

Regardsthanks for the reply, how would the other standby know that primary has changed and it should recieve its data from a diffrent primary ?
am I correct syaing standby tries any of the db names specified in LOG_ARCHIVE_CONFIG and accepts logs from whichever is primary at the time ?
also i am not using rman catalog , can i still use backup of standby to create a new standby ?

Hi,
I have set up a data guard configuration with one primary database and one physical standby.
log apply services and log transfer services work correctly.but when i want to do as switchover operation,
the output of the following query is always ((session active))
select switchover_status from v$database.
i have only one session (/ as sysdba) on primary and one in standby.
where is the problem?

Why do you expect the switch over status to change after these two ALTER SYSTEM commands ?
Are you following some (Incomplete) Instructions / Note / Document ?
What is it that you are trying to do ?
What are the steps in the instructions that you are referring to ?

while switching primary to standby,switchover_status on primary is to standby,
then I given ALTER DATABASE COMMIT TO SWITCHOVER TO STANDBY WITH SESSION SHUTDOWN;
command and getting below error

If you registered your iPhone with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it. Also, try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage.

Switching over to Verizon family plan with iPhone 4S?

I'm switiching from T-mobile to Verizon for the iPhone. Now the rest of my family would like to switch over as well but only one of them wants the iPhone 4S with me. When I went through a mock purchase with the regular iPhone 4. apple.com told me I had to visit a store to set up my family plan and would not let me pre order anything unless I was starting anew verizon contract by myself without a family plan. Is ther a way around this and if not, what's next? Will the iPhone be available at a Verizon store so my family and I can set up all our phones at once? Or do My brother and I need to go to an apple store to get our iPhones and set up the plan, but from there where and when would the rest of my family get their phones? IMO, your best bet is to go to a VZW store and work it all out there. They can switch you over and get you the phones you want right there in the store.

you cannot use your pc license to install on a mac. you would need a separate license (and serial number) for that.
adobe allows platform swaps, but only with the latest (xi) version, Order product | Platform, language swap
your option to use acrobat on a mac are to upgrade to acrobat pro xi and change platforms, use a windows emulator (parallels/boot camp etc) on your mac or swap with a third party.

Then the bottom of the support document states that if you do not have access to the device (which unfortunately because of the screen issue you do not) to contact Apple Care. That is what you need to do.

Since you have no credit history, my guess is you would need at least a year of on time payments, and I'm not sure a pre-paid account would qualify as you can stop at any time.
You didn't specify your age, but getting started int he credit world is not easy - you may try applying for a gas card, or a credit card, and USE them, pay them off each month - and expect to take a year or more to establish a record.

Standby switch over problem

after giving statements on primary DB
alter system set aq_tm_processes=0;
alter system set job_queue_processes=0;
the primary DB switch_over status not turn to to-standby.

Most carrers won't care if you change phones as long as you are payng for al the services they require. Since you both have iPhones, it probably won't be an issue, but since we don't know who your carrier is we can't say it they will have a problem with you making that change or not. The only way to make certain it won't be a problem is to contact your carrier...

Can anyone tell me how to upload a url to an image onto facebook the way you could with a pc. Recently switched over to Mac and this is one thing I can't seem to figure out. Basically in Windows you could right click on an image, click copy the image url

I've recently switched over to a Mac and before in Windows on a pc if you wanted to post an image on facebook you would right click the image you found on the post you wanted to share, then click copy url. You'd simply take that url and put it into the facebook post when uploading an image and that's all. Can not seem to find a way to do it now, other than saving the image to the computer and then uploading that which is not what I want to do. I've searched and searched but can't seem to find a solution other then posting in Parallels Window.
Any suggestions??

Thanks brody, I had been able to do that but on my business fb page I often post images and put in the links myself in the descriptions. In Windows you're able to post images by simply pasting in the url but on the Mac I'd have to download someone's image which I'm not comfortable doing so I find myself switching back and forth between the Mac and Windows.
