Switching Page Setup window from Metric to Imperial
Hi,
Might anyone know how to change the metric measurements (cm) to imperial ones (inch) -seen below the Paper Size dropdown menu- in the Page Setup dialog box of any given program?
I've tried everything I can think of, including switching keyboard layouts and Time Zone setting to make the computer think I live somewhere other than Canada, but nothing will make a US Letter sized paged show as "8.5 in x 11 in".

Go to International Preferences in System Preferences and switch to the Formats panel. There is a drop down menu at the bottom called "Measurement Units" - that should do it.

When I use page setup, it shows metric dimensions, i would prefer imperial. Where do I change that preference?
I went to preferences/language & text/formats and changed it from US to metric. Then went back and changed it again to US. It seems to be correct now with US settings ( inches).

How to set Page Setup default from letter (8.5 x 11) to legal (8.5 x 14)
Hi,
when I open a pdf document in Adobe Reader and go to print it defaults to 8.5 x 11 (Letter). Is there away to set the default to 8.5 x 14(Legal). I can change it manually by clicking page layout or printer properties but I have to do this everytime I print. Not sure if this has to be done on the creating of the document side.

Loosing page setup going from V10 to CS3.
When I try to open pages created in Illustrator 10 into CS3 they not only loose their page size and orientation but the page set up dialog box is not even available to change it. I have tried restarting both the printer, re-selecting the printer.
It's a HP 2500n color laser with the latest driver software.
Thanks.When you have a dhcp address, use ifconfig to identify the address, broadcast address, and subnet mask, and use route to identify your default gateway. All these should be added to the rc.conf NETWORKING section - an example is provided. Make a note of the nameserver address that was automatically added to /etc/resolv.conf under dhcp - it should remain there.
Before you do all that, you may have the option of using a dhcp fixed lease instead i.e. continue to use dhcp, but configure it to provide the same address to your arch box every time. That would depend on the capabilities of the system that provides the dhcp service. -
Page Setup / Printing in Adobe Acrobat and Reader
Does anyone know why Adobe Acrobat and Reader don't retain page setup information from one document to the next? I constantly have to switch between two different paper sizes in page setup, because the information isn't retained by the individual documents.
I would suggest creating a second instance of the printer in Windows with tray 2 as the default tray - select that printer from Acrobat.
Control Panel > Add Printer > Create the Printer

My header changes keep being changed in page setup
For the past few days I have blanked all the headers listed in page setup. I have saved the changes, and to test I exited Firefox and then opened the program and they were still blank. But the next day when I turn on the computer the headers are back. In looking at the troubleshooting information I see there are a lot of printers listed that I have used and tested in the past. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Thanks.

The Third is what happens to the above page setup window when I drag the window to the left. -
I changed left and right margins to .5 thinking they were in inches and closed the page setup screen the next time I tried to print all I saw was a blank page or no page depending on zoom / shrink to fit ratio set. When I go to page setup all I get is a new window that is transparent in the text area and extends off the right side of the screen. I have to right click and select close to close it as I do not see the standard minimize, maximize, and close buttons. I do not want to reset defaults as I have changed many settings and do not remember all the settings I have changed. I do have an older copy of my firefox profile in a previous user profile of mine on this machine. Is there an easy way to reset the page setup settings?
What do I do?

Page Setup options cached somewhere?
I'm trying to help someone in my office who can no longer select "Tabloid" size paper in the Page Setup. We have a Xerox Splash G640 which gives me about fifteen different page sizes in the Page Setup window, but even after deleting her printer from the Printer Setup Utility and re-adding it, she only gets Letter and Legal size. When I started helping her, the Printer Setup Utility said the printer was using the generic postscript driver and I manually changed it to the correct driver. This did not fix the issue, so we deleted and re-added the printer. But, the incorrect page sizes are still in the Page Setup window. If you select another printer from the list in Page Setup and choose Tabloid size paper, the printer prints a Tabloid size image, but on a Letter size piece of paper... She's got Mac OS X 10.4.3 (we're giving everyone updates to 10.4.5 later this week) and although this issue is occurring in any application, we need to print from PhotoShop CS2.
It appears to me that Mac OS X is "caching" this information somewhere, but I'm not sure where. Is there a folder or file I could delete to try to clear this up?
-DougThank you for your reply. I've already replaced the PPD with the one from my computer which does show all the page sizes correctly (on my computer). It appears to be an issue deeper than simply selecting the correct PPD file in the Printer Setup Utility. Somehow, the options in the Page Setup are "stuck" and will not change even if you change the PPD file associated with that printer. You see the same page size options (the incorrect ones) whether that printer is set-up with the "generic" PostScript driver, the correct Mac OS X printer driver or manually selecting the Mac OS 9 printer driver from the Classic System Folder/Extensions/Printer Drivers. No matter which PPD we choose, the wrong page sizes persist in the Page Setup dialog.

I just can't see the point of having the same options in two places! The "Page Setup" tab from the "Print..." menu item has more options, relating to printer features, whereas the "Page Setup" dialogue box is basic and looks to me to be a little 'shoddy'. I'd have thought it would be a good idea to have the 'better' set of features available, but from it's own menu item, rather than a tab. And no duplicated controls!!
Firefox on Windows doesn't have Page Setup in the Print dialog, it is in the Print Preview window.
That isn't the only menu item that appears in multiple places. '''View Page Info''' is in the Tools menu (on Windows) and in the Contextual menu. '''Bookmark this Page''' is in the Bookmarks menu and the Contextual menu, along with the Tab Context menu. -
Out of Memory when opening page setup
I am getting an "Out of Memory" error when opening the page setup window. I am unable to continue as Crystal is locked up. Has any one seen this behavior before? I am running Crystal Reports 2008 Service Pack 0 Version: 12.0.0.683. This is running in a terminal server environment.

If either of these methods fails to remove all Crystal Reports directories, files and registry keys, then continue with the resolution of this article.

Changing metric to imperial in maps
I know how to get to the place where I can switch from metric to imperial, but when I highlight the 'imperial' setting, or click 'change', it doesn't change, but stays on metric. Does anyone else have this. I really like ovi maps, but living in the UK, would prefer to have the units in miles.

No clues as to what device you are using but if S60 5th Ed. device have you gone to Menu > Applications > Location > Positioning > Notation preferences > Measurement system = Imperial?

How to Put the orientation to Landscape in Page Setup?
Hi All,
I put the orientation property for header section as Landscape with:
width & height :11, Report Width : 90, Report Height: 66
and put orientation property for main section as Landscape with:
width : 15, height :11, Report Width : 90, Report Height: 66
and put orientaion property for trailer section as Landscape with:
width : 11, height :11, Report Width : 90, Report Height: 66
and then put the orientation in page setup to Landscape, but when I press the button OK and open Page setup window agian the oreintaion returned to Portrait, and when I print the report the right side of the page appeared blank which make the report imperfect.
How to solve this problem and make the page to appeared landscape not portrait??Can you please tell me how to specify the Landscape format in system parameters. I am also facing this issue.

On any page, select "Print->Print Preview". Once in the preview window, use the menu to select "Print->Page Setup". In the setup dialog box, click on the "Margins & Header/Footer". Modify some headers and footers. Then click on OK.
The preview window will either be cleared or become unresponsive. The only way to proceed is to close the preview window using the Windows close button in the top right hand corner. I must then start my printing over.
I found that I can work around this by first changing the page setup BEFORE going to print preview. However, this looks like a bug and it should be investigated and fixed.Both printers? Or just the HP Photosmart C3100 series printer?
