Switching PC to Mac- help with installation

I have PS 6 and LR 4 installed on my desktop. Both have been upgaraded several times from prior versions.
I have a new Mac laptop. How can I download both programs to my Mac? i have both serial numbers.

The Lightroom serial number is cross-platform. It will work on Windows and/or Mac.
Download the LR4.4 Mac installer

Enter your LR4 upgrade serial number. You'll alo be prompted to enter the serial number from an earlier qualifying version. Enter an LR3, or earlier version, serial and LR4 will be licensed on your Mac. You're entitled to 2 installs per license so you can leave it on your PC too if you wish.

The Photoshop CS6 serial number is platform specific. Your Windows serial number will not work on your Mac.

    It's my pleasure to provide assistance when I can :•) Having just recently graduated after 7 years of effort just to get a 2-year degree, I can relate to needing software to get class work accomplished. I will do everything I can to make it happen for you today.
    Since you didn't mention, the UAC setting, I'd like you to disable it for me if it isn't already:
    1. Open Control Panel
    2. Under User Account and Family settings, click on the "Add or remove user account"
    3. Click on any user account
    4. Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link.
    5. Under "Make changes to your user account", click on the "Change security settings" link
    6. In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the Ok button.
    7. You will be prompted to reboot your computer - do so when ready
    You may need to uninstall/reinstall Reader after the reboot in order for the problem to go away, but that part I am not certain of. Try to duplicate the issue prior to taking that step.
    If you are unable to resolve issues with Adobe Reader, I recommend using a different reader that has much less bloat and is updated regularly:

    FoxIT is a FREE alternative to using Adobe's Reader. Support for free Adobe products is limited forums such as this. The same holds true for open source alternatives except the manufacturer usually helps support their forums while Adobe doesn't monitor this forum or any like it. I know how important it is for you to focus on your classes so don't beat your head against a wall just because Reader won't work when a viable solution exists.

    Help is not possible without a four digit database version.
    Also what kind of help do you require? You can't read documentation?
    In that case: This forum is not the place to behave like a 2 year old and to ask your mummy to hold your hand.
    The procedure is documented, please read it, and don't ask doc questions.
    If you love bothering a forum of volunteers and turn it into a free documentation lookup service, at least provide a four digit database version.

  • New to MAC  -help with previous systems folder -this should be an easy one!

    My PowerBook G4 (running Leopard) recently crashed due to some corrupt files, per the Genius Bar. I got it up and running with the Leopard upgrade disc as they recommended. Everything went well and on the HD it created a "Previous Systems" folder and everything is in there... (old applications, documents, etc. ... Now what do I do?
    Do I just run the applications (iWork, MS Office, Adobe products, etc.) from that "Previous Systems" folder or should I drag and drop them to the new applications folder, or is it better to delete and reinstall all the programs again? And if I have already opened some of the applications from the Previous Systems" folder will this prevent me from moving them.
    I just want to clean up my laptop and keep it simple... What is the safe and easy thing to do?

  • New to Mac, Help with Time Machine! Partition External HDD or not?

    Hey Guys I'm a new mac user
    I need help with  time machine
    I wanted to know how time machine works and what all does it back up?
    I have 2 hard drives one is of 1TB and one is of 320gb
    In the 1TB hard drive i store all my music videos and work stuff it is windows formatted
    The 320gb hard drive is mac formatted and I was thinking of making a partition on it one with 250gb for time machine and the remaining 70 gb for mac softwares and files. The ssd of my mac has a capacity of 256gb. I have read for time machine you need at least 2x the space of your ssd on your external hard drive but i don't understand if my ssd is only 256 and can store files worth 256gb why do i need double the space? Secondly if I choose to use the complete 320 gb for time machine will that be okay or even if i choose to partition it to 250gb for time machine will that be fine too? Or will I need to format my 1TB hard disk out of which currently only 300 gb is empty and partition that to 500 gb for time machine?
    I'm really confused every tells me to use time machine but do I need it? And what does it exactly do?

    The reason that you want a partition (or drive) of 2-3 times the size of your boot drive for Time Machine is so that you can keep backups further back than just the current boot drive state - for that you'd need to make a clone of the drive rather than using Time Machine (see -> http://pondini.org/TM/Clones.html).
    For more information for backups in general, see -> Most commonly used backup methods.
    Note that you can't use Time Machine to backup a Windows partition.

  • Could you help with installation of flash player?

    I am experiencing problems with installation of flash player on my computer.  I have Windows 7 with 2.77 Ghz and 64 bit system.  I get a message that says, "Close Internet Explorer."  I close it and the download still is unable to go through.  It stops at 50%.  I have also gone to my tool bar and disabled ActiveX as suggested.  What else do I need to do to be able to download the Flash Player?

  • Need Help With Installling Classic on OS X Panther??

    Hi: When I installed OS X Panther, I wasn't aware that in order to run Classic 9, I needed 9.2. Well, I purchased 9.2 but everytime I install it it's giving me an error message. I've checked the disk as well as my HD and everything seems to be fine. I've turned off screensaver, unplugged my printer and disconnected the cable to the internet. What's up? It still won't install. It keeps saying there were errors in installing. Can anyone help me out here. I'd sure appreciate it.

    hi, i'm new at this, i was almost done with the configuring of a new instance of Oracle 11g, however i'm running into this error, when one of the assistants is executing. can any of you point out what should i try or what could be the cause of this problem. any help would be really appreciated.

  • Help with installation of Adobe Acrobat 10

    I installed the adobe cs5.5 premium on my laptop and it was fine, I got a virus lost everything and had to restore my computer back to factory settings.  I reloaded Cs5.5 and everything loaded except Acrobat.  I have tried to do it in safe mode, taken off all of the other Adobe components and tried to load it still nothing.  I can not get acrobat to load.  I really need it, please help.

  • Need help with installation of 10.4

    I have a power tower pro G3 with 9 2.2 and, until just a few days ago, 10.3.9. The 10.3 just disappeared! guess I did something very wrong. I have four hard drives and was running some disc repair utility...the next time I tried to start up I could only start up in 9 2.2 To make a long story short I have 10.4 on discs but I guess I need to do some things to be able to install 10.4. Unfortunately I am, obviously, a novice in this type of thing. Is there anyone who can advise me what to do? I know there is a firewire issue to deal with and firm ware updates to check for. I just don't know where to begin. Thanks to anyone who can get me started in the right direction.

    Help. I've tried to install PE12 multiple times without success due to shared technology installation failure. The install gets right to the end and then fails when trying to launch and uninstalls. Per the help suggestions, I downloaded the ASA, which identified no problems.
    Very frustrating.

    In Windows what has always worked for me is ending any already running PSE/PRE processes from previous or current versions - look for anything with 'Elements' in the name, and 'dynamiclinkmanager.exe'. Then I run the setup program by right-clicking and selecting 'Run as Administrator'. This runs the setup program with even higher privileges than a user account with Administrator privileges.

  • New to Oracle- Need help with installation from cmd shell.

    Hello!
    I am writing a script to automate the installation of Oracle Forms and Reports 6i in XP through cmd.exe. The script works great, but the command is incomplete.
    Currently the command in the script is "setup -responseFile directory\response.rsp".
    This is supposed to generate a .rsp file containing all the options I selected in the custom installation (so I can simply call that file in future implementations of this script to automatically get all those settings), but it does not.
    Does any one know what might be wrong: why isn't this generating the response file?
    Or, do you know the arguments for the command so that I don't even need a response file?
    I've googled this about a dozen times and found nothing very helpful.
    Any advice is appreciated.
    P.S. I've also tried -record -destinationFile. No luck with that either.

    I had already tried that with no success. Just to be sure, I tried it again a moment ago exactly as you have it written except for the location name ("setup.exe -record -destinationFile \\directory\response.rsp"). Again, I don't see a response file.
    I have viewed the link you sent me as well. Unfortunately, it looks like a I need to use the Universal Installer? I don't see anything like that in my installation directory. Am I completely missing something? Oracle is a whole new bag for me.

  • Desperately need help with installation

    Right, so I bought the student pack for the Creative Suite5 Design Premium.
    The first of my problems came when I was trying to install acrobat 9. The problem was that halfway through verification, the setup wizard said that Windows Installer needed to be closed for it to finish verifying, which is really confusing because it was Windows Installer running the installation i nthe first place.
    So I tried installing the Design Premium suite itself, I was informed that the minimum requirements were not met for a number of products. I deselected the ones I did not need until I was left with adobe photoshop cs5 and adobe indesign cs5. Both of these did not meet system requirements, even though I did a check on this website itself for the requirements. I found that I actually exceeded the minimum requirement needed so I still don't understand why the installation won't work.
    I am an art student doing digital painting so I would really appreciate swift help. This is a really frustrating issue.

    Could you please post your machine configuration, OS, RAM, Processor details and resolution on which you are installing. Please post PDApp.log file from C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Temp\PDApp.log
    and ignore all the warning messages and try installing. These are just kind of warnings and does not stop installation, if any application does not support the environment, that particular application will have trouble working with.

  • Help with installation of Jaguar 10.2

    Really need some expertise help. I have a Power PC G4 currently running
    OS 9.2.2 and have the installation disks for Jaguar 10.2. I'm still using
    my old Quark 4.0, Photoshop 5.0 programs that I am completely satisfied
    with. I need to get the OSX 10.2 installed but it will not fully install.
    The first disk installs fine, but when the machine restarts and the prompt
    comes up to install disk 2 is where the problem lies. It will briefly flash
    up the next step window but then the screen goes to blue and stays there.
    The first disk will not eject as it should. I am considering biting the bullet
    and replacing this unit but would like to know if there is a way around this.
    I purchased the unit used and it was running the Leopard system and it all
    went well for the first week until I went to install my printer software
    and was completely locked out with an administrator password issue. Another
    friend suggested that I just do a complete reinstall, erasing all the
    previous systems that were on the machine. Classic 9.2.2 installed perfectly
    but OSX 10.2 does not.
    This machine speed is 450 MHz, built in memory of 384MB, carbon lib 1.4.
    I have upgraded the firmware, zapped the pram, unplugged all the externals
    and have tried loading with just the basic extensions turned on and nothing
    has worked.
    I am also looking into another G4 running Tiger 10.4 but needed to know if I
    would be able to use my classic with that.

    Ohluckyme:
    I suspect that by a PowerPC G4 450 MHz you mean a PowerMac G4 450 MHz. This would be either the AGP Graphics or Gigabit Ethernet. Whichever it is, it will support OS 9 up to Tiger (10.4.11), but it does not meet the technical specifications for Leopard. However, both these have very small Hard Disk Drives on the low end, so if you have the 10 GB HDD, I would recommend replacing it before installing OS X, which needs a minimus of 5 GB free space on HDDs 40 GB or less, and 15% on HDDs larger than 40 GB.
    I suggest that you consider either Panther (10.3.9) or Tiger (10.4.11) along with OS 9. I further suggest that you backup your data, then completely reformat and erase the HDD before installation. (Post back for step by step directions for reformat and installation). You will need the Full Retail Version of either Panther or Tiger.
