Switching sources while encoding

Does the Flash Live Media Encoder offer a capability to swticth between live video and pre-produced flv packages. Example, an Intro for a webcast or credits at the end? I know that Windows Media Encoder provides this functionality. If not it would be cool addition for the future.

Hi Anthony,
You can switch between Live and pre produced FLV files by wirting a cleint side script in Flash.
Script will use play2() of latest Flash version to switch between pre recorded and live streams.

Video switching source causes brightness issues

Hey, all.
We're running several sources through a video switcher (Kramer VS-848), which pipes video through our capture box (MOTU V3HD) to Final Cut. It's live video, so we use Capture Now. Every time we switch video sources while recording, we get a frame or two of brightness adjustment (a nearly-white frame, then a slightly-too-bright frame, then back to normal, or a nearly-black, a very-dark, and then normal) recorded by Final Cut. This doesn't show up on any output besides Final Cut, so we're fairly certain it's not the switcher, but in the software.
Does anybody know how we can stop/control this?

Are your cameras genlocked?
I'd follow up (with my layman's pretengineering degree) by questioning the validity of using that unit as a switcher...seems more like a router to me. (even though they call it a switcher and it seems to offer solid specs).
How many and what type(s) are your video sources?
You might look into a different 'video switcher' solution, which, with a deck, could eliminate the need for the MOTU.
Then you can record live to tape, plus do a Live capture now/non-controllable device and when the program is finished, just spit it back out from an FCP timeline.
Others here should be able to offer much better technical advice, but I think we'd all need a clearer understanding of your entire workflow...exactly what hardware/format(s)/signal flow/OS/software versions...etc.

Toshiba 32W4333 - Watch another source while recording

Hello there,
I was wondering if there is a reason why my TV 32W4333 won't let me watch another HDMI source while I am recording TV to an external USB HD? It just says "cannot perform this operation". I understand that you can't watch a different TV channel while recording but surely a separate input would have no effect on the recording process.

I completely agree with you.
Usually its not possible to watch another program while recording something to external USB HDD because of one tuner. But it should be possible to switch to another source (HDMI port)
But I read also on different websites that this isn't the case only on Toshiba TVs.
Also another TV manufacturers don't allo the switch to another source while recording too.
I guess the usage of other sources while the TV is recording isnt possible due to the limitation from the hardware and such limitation is mostly the case in order to avoid unstable behaviors due to the data processing while recording.

ERROR WHILE ENCODING FILE

Hi Everyone
While burning a DVDSP3 disk of about 3.5 gigs, I get this error message: "error while encoding file". This happens about 7 hours into the burn. I have tried it twice. The second time after fixing preferences, etc.
I am using a G-4 laptop with a Lacie RAID 5 external drive.
Reading this forum, I see the problem is not unusual. But I never encountered this problem in the past.
So why is this happening now?
Also, to fix it the most frequent suggestion is to export from FCP-4 using compressor.
Does this solve the problem?
And what preset should I use?
The compressor help menu has a lot of information but does not specifically tell you what preset to use for a standard DVD-R burned on DVD SP 3.
The DVD-R, like most DVD's, has to play on any NTSC television or any computer.
If anyone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it. Because I am stumped.

On the pane issue, it will be different because you are running an earlier version of Compressor.
On the A.Pack side of things when you launch the Application you will see tabs where you can set the same things in the image on the website (dialog normalization to -31 etc.) Let me know if you find them, or I can get some screenshots
On the settings you can try one of the settings that will fit your video. 60 Minutes will be too short, so you need one of the 90 minutes settings (or longer, which knocks down the video bitrate a bit, but may prevent stutters, but for the short term use a 90 minute setting.) The difference between the settings (Good, Fast etc, I do not remember all of the Compressor 1 variations and not in front of a computer right now with it loaded, can look later if you like) if using different types of encoding- VBR, CBR http://dvdstepbystep.com/faqs_4.php).
I am pretty sure rates are adjusted based on the lesser time being higher rates, while speed/quality is VBR/CBR. Take a look at the video rates being used, and makee sure the MAX Rate does not exceed 7.4 (or a bit less to be safe)
You may just want to try the fast setting first to see if it cures the build issue, then move on if you are in the clear. (Or you can try the two pass build for overnight). Make sure you have room on the disc where you are building the encoded file.

The source file encoding may be different with this platform encoding.

I got the below error after I have upgraded my Iplanet from 4.1 SP3 to 6.0 SP5 so what seems to be the problem here ? The code is working perfect under 4.1 SP3.

Looks like the file has been save in a non-ascii format. Perhaps someone opened and saved the file as a Word document and the compiler is unable to re-compile it. Try opening the file in Wordpad and resaving it in TextFormat.

No. iCloud has nothing to do with Time Machine on your computer, and as long as your computer has synched all desired content and settings to iCloud, not only does the modem not need to be switched on, your computer doesn't need to be on either.

Experiencing the problems while encoding the barcode with Code 128 font

We are experiencing the problems while encoding the barcode with Code 128 font.we have followed the Oracle BI Publisher Blog i.e Barcoding 102 http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/discuss/msgReader$281.
Before applying the encoding Java class we were able to display the barcode but after applying this encoding Java class we are not able to display the barcode.
We are requesting you to help us for encoding the barcode with Code 128 font and read barcode by scanner.
We will appreciate and thankful if anybody help us in this regard

Cannot switch songs while in lock screen

Since I upgraded to IOS7, I am not able to switch songs while in lock screen. I was able to do this without any issue in all my previous versions. It worked in Music as well as Pandora. Now, I have to first unlock the screen then switch.
The funny part is that the forward, stop and previous buttons are all there but pressing on them does absolutely nothing.
Does anyone know if this is an option I can change or is it indeed a bug?

Ctrl-L seems to work correctly when not in full screen mode.

I understand that the directive
<%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF8" %> defines the source file encoding but obviously the include directive does something I don't understand. Any help appreciated.

The server/compiler you're using may need to see the content type of the source file you're using BEFORE it is able to process any of the code. Basically, when it gets to the<%@ include file="/page2.jsp" %> line, it doesn't know what content type it's supposed to be using yet (because it's in that separate JSP), and it pukes. You probably have to declare the content type before you can do anything else.

Question about HP 2311xi - auto-switch source and delay wakeup from sleep

I recently purchased this monitor and noticed that when it wakes from sleep it will take about 5-10 seconds for it to wake whereas other monitors I've owned they have gone on immediately. I was just wondering if this is how this monitor is or if I have an issue with it.
Secondly, how is the auto-switch source suppose to work? I have my PC set to DVI and I have the default source set to my 360 through the HDMI connection. I would assume that when the 360 goes on it would go to the default source and switch over to the hdmi connection. However, my monitor does nothing. What does the auto-switch source actually do or is mine just defective?

Auto-switch source only works if there is no signal as it detects the port with a signal and auto switches to that port. However, the monitor has no way of knowing exactly which port the user wants when two signals are present.
Default port setting is what the monitor will look for first when being turned on and doesn't necessarily give that port override capabilities.
Taking 5-10 seconds can be normal. My third-party monitor at home generally takes about 5 seconds before displaying a signal, but this may have more to do with the HDMI connection (I haven't tested this with the VGA port). I don't believe this is a cause for concern.

Problems with Wait inside Switch inside While

I have implemented a process that does something like this (BPEL 10.1.3.3):
1. reads some data and sets some variables
2. has a While activity that tries for 5 times to post some xml message to specified URL
3. if it doesn't succeed than set some error parameters and continue

What I've tried to achieve is: for the first time don't wait, just execute Java code. If status code != '202' than wait 2 seconds and retry. Do this for five times. If I don't succeed then I should set statusCode variable to 202 manually and then continue the process. The problem is that the last wait never ends. Even if I change condition in switch name="AbortDesision" to <case condition="bpws:getVariableData('RetryNum') > 2">it is the same, the first wait never ends. Can someone please tell me how to solve this. If it is important, the java code throws an exception that is not handled. Could this be the problem?

I found out one very interesting thing:
When I changed condition case condition="bpws:getVariableData('RetryNum') > 5" to case condition="bpws:getVariableData('RetryNum') = 6" everything is working OK.

I am trying to create a idvd project but the it does not while encoding the films, Why ?

I am trying to create an iDVD project. I create to sub menus and put small films in each sub menu. When it starts to create the project, while encoding the films, at one point to time it just stops abruptly. Why. I fail to understand. I I tried twice, and it happened the same. I have created the projects in the past, but it has worked just fine. This time it is behaving rather weird.
I went on to see the report and I feels it stops with a 32 bit film. I may be wrong, but could you please help ?

My phone switched of while charging was boiling hot aswell and wont turn back on or connect to laptop, help ..

My iphone 3gs switched of while i had it on charge i didn realise untill i went too use my phone and it was boiling hot when i picked it up, it will not switch back on, charge or connect to laptop or dcu mode .. any ideas on what to do with it other then back to belfast .. all tips welcome ...

Unplug it, let it cool down and try to reset it by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
