Switching Sources.

Hi,
We have a situation in our project.
We have lots of mapping in a schema called 'STAGING' . Our souce till noe are the tables on another
schema named 'BAT_STAGING'. Everything is running fine. Now Client want to Switch souce schema.
i.e from BAT_STAGING to MORE_STAGING . Tables in both the schema is of same structure.
Now in all the mapping in the staging schema using all the source table .
In there any possiblity (parameter file) by with anytime we can choose which schema we can use as source.
please suggest .

You have to put all the source to one Oracle Module.
and if later you want to change the Schema. You only need to change the Location Credential associted with the Module.

Question about HP 2311xi - auto-switch source and delay wakeup from sleep

I recently purchased this monitor and noticed that when it wakes from sleep it will take about 5-10 seconds for it to wake whereas other monitors I've owned they have gone on immediately. I was just wondering if this is how this monitor is or if I have an issue with it.
Secondly, how is the auto-switch source suppose to work? I have my PC set to DVI and I have the default source set to my 360 through the HDMI connection. I would assume that when the 360 goes on it would go to the default source and switch over to the hdmi connection. However, my monitor does nothing. What does the auto-switch source actually do or is mine just defective?

Auto-switch source only works if there is no signal as it detects the port with a signal and auto switches to that port. However, the monitor has no way of knowing exactly which port the user wants when two signals are present.
Default port setting is what the monitor will look for first when being turned on and doesn't necessarily give that port override capabilities.
Taking 5-10 seconds can be normal. My third-party monitor at home generally takes about 5 seconds before displaying a signal, but this may have more to do with the HDMI connection (I haven't tested this with the VGA port). I don't believe this is a cause for concern.

Video switching source causes brightness issues

Hey, all.
We're running several sources through a video switcher (Kramer VS-848), which pipes video through our capture box (MOTU V3HD) to Final Cut. It's live video, so we use Capture Now. Every time we switch video sources while recording, we get a frame or two of brightness adjustment (a nearly-white frame, then a slightly-too-bright frame, then back to normal, or a nearly-black, a very-dark, and then normal) recorded by Final Cut. This doesn't show up on any output besides Final Cut, so we're fairly certain it's not the switcher, but in the software.
Does anybody know how we can stop/control this?

Are your cameras genlocked?
I'd follow up (with my layman's pretengineering degree) by questioning the validity of using that unit as a switcher...seems more like a router to me. (even though they call it a switcher and it seems to offer solid specs).
How many and what type(s) are your video sources?
You might look into a different 'video switcher' solution, which, with a deck, could eliminate the need for the MOTU.
Then you can record live to tape, plus do a Live capture now/non-controllable device and when the program is finished, just spit it back out from an FCP timeline.
Others here should be able to offer much better technical advice, but I think we'd all need a clearer understanding of your entire workflow...exactly what hardware/format(s)/signal flow/OS/software versions...etc.

Wi-Fi switches source

My wife and I both have Macs that connect to a Wi-Fi router which we have connected to our cable service.    An alternative Wi-Fi source is supplied to our building, that is slower, and which requires us to go to an "accept" screen every couple of weeks.
Occasionally we get that "accept" screen on our Macs.    When that happens I click on the Wi-Fi icon and select our personal connection.    But I know that I have been connected to the wrong network or at least it was trying to connect to the wrong network.
Checking the settings, I see that my desired network is on top.    I don't want our Macs to try to connect to those other networks - there is no reason I know that it doesn't connect to the correct network.   But it tries to connect to a wrong network.
Any ideas on how to get it to try again to connect to the correct network?

To give a network the highest priority, drag the name of the network to the top of the list. This is the network your computer will attempt to join first.
Select a network and click Delete to remove it from the list.

Switching sources while encoding

Does the Flash Live Media Encoder offer a capability to swticth between live video and pre-produced flv packages. Example, an Intro for a webcast or credits at the end? I know that Windows Media Encoder provides this functionality. If not it would be cool addition for the future.

You can switch between Live and pre produced FLV files by wirting a cleint side script in Flash.
Script will use play2() of latest Flash version to switch between pre recorded and live streams.

Switching sources of itunes library

i switched external hard drives and i just want to link the same songs in the new hard drive to itunes...obviously now, i get that exclamation point since it can't find the song and i' obviously not gonna go through the thousands of songs i have one by one.
so what do i do?
i don't drag my whole music folder into itunes again do i? will that double the songs in the library?

You can use an application called Senuti to transfer music from your iPod to your computer.
Note that the because of all the copyright rubbish, the music must be legally yours.

OSX 10.8.5 Update HDMI sound not output after source switch

Upgraded my Mac Mini this morning with latest update. Ever since, everytime I switch source on my TV from one to another, I'm not garanteed to have sound being output on my Mac Mini. Only solution is to reboot.
Am I the only one facing this kind of issue???

You might try this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Then download and install: OS X Mountain Lion Update v10.8.5 (Combo).

HDMI Switch + Verizon On Demand woes

So I setup my STB to run through an HDMI switch (that goes to my stereo receiver's HDMI passthrough) which, except for the occaisonal audio glitch (usually when I switch sources without first turning my STB off) works great. The only problem being that I can't seen to get Verizon On Demand to work. When I go to the On Demand screen I get no picture, or rather just a black screen with a green vertical line or some other similar glitch but I do get the audio. Plugging the box directly into my TV works just fine however.
Any thoughts out there?
My suspicion is either the switch or the passthrough. I haven't tried connecting the box straight to my receiver's passthrough HDMI port and will try that next.

AFAIK Verizon does not currently send anything in MPEG-4. The 6xxx series does not support MPEG4 decoding while the 7xxx series does. As a matter of fact, any of the premiums that are received at the SHE in MPEG-4 have to be transcoded to MPEG-2 for this very reason.
EDIT: Also, most existing TV sets don't know how to decode MPEG4 (perhaps with the exception of the newest).

Is it possible to have source and target schema in the same DB instance ?

I'm using Oracle 11gR1.
I have switched source locations from other server to the one with OWB.
During deploy I get VLD-3064 and I can't deploy mapping because of many 'table or view does not exist' warnings.
Is it possible to have source and target schemas in the same instance ??
How to do it ?

I'd like to clarify a little your answer :
1. Are the any special privilages I need to set ? Currently I have only 'RESOURCE' and 'CONNECT' (I think I didn't have to add any other privs when that schema was located on other instance...)
2. Also VLD-3064 states that : 'Owning and referenced location of this connector are on the same database instance. Unless explicitly referenced in configuration settings no generated code will use the dataabase link resulting from deployment of this connector'. Does it mean I have to put something in configuration ?

HDMI Switching issues

Hello, I've read numerous posts about HDMI issues with the ATV 3.x software.
Recently I bought a Sony HT-CT100 sound bar system which I was trying to use to switch all my HDMI sources. All the sources go into the sound bar, and the sound bar outputs video via HDMI to the TV.
I had frequent problems when changing sources, e.g. between my cable set top box and the ATV. Often it would appear that the ATV was rebooting, because I'd get the sliver apple logo for a period of time. Other issues are harder to describe objectively, but I can subjectively say that switching sources was never "clean"... it seemed that resolutions would shift, the screen would flicker in and out a few times- generally just not cool.
Unfortunately I got the sound bar after updating to 3.x, so I do not know if I would have had this problem with 2.x. I've never had a problem with 2.x or 3.x with the ATV connected directly to my new Samsung LCD. Short of waiting on an ATV update, is there any thing else to try? I really desire to have the ATV connected to my sound bar via HDMI for a number of reasonable reasons.

I have the same issue. When the ATV was connected directly to my TV via HDMI all was well. I recently inserted an Onkyo receiver into the mix and connected all of my devices to the receiver VIA HDMI with the receiver acting as the HDMI switch.
Now, the ATV video will not come on when switching back to it. I can hear the menu dings if I play with the remote, but no video... All other devices work perfectly via the HDMI switch in the receiver. The problem is with the ATV unit... The only remedy to resolve this is to reboot the ATV unit... This is VERY FRUSTRATING to say the lease...
Anyone have any ideas!!

G5 DVI to VGA Dell Monitor Connection problems, need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm running two dell monitors both of which were connected via DVI to my g5 quad dual dvi. My tv broke and I'm using one of my monitors to connect the cable boxes HDMI input to the dells DVI input, it works great.
My problem is that i still want to run two monitors from my mac and still be able to switch channel sources from the Dells source button allowing me to switch from TV to Mac. Since I took up the dvi port on one of my monitors to connect to the cable box via HDMI, I have a free DVI cable. I purchased a tiny converter that allowed to change one end of the free DVI cable to VGA. I used this method to connect the cable to my g5's dvi port and the configured end to the VGA port on the monitor with no luck.
The Dell monitor does not pick up any signal and just goes to sleep as if my computer does not exist. The TV works fine and I'm able to switch sources. Please note that I'm not using the DVI-VGA adaptor that came with my g5 and don't know if this would make a difference. If it does, how do i set this up because this adaptor is like 5 inches long.
Does the adaptors DVI end need to be connected to the back of the g5 or does the VGA end need to be connected to the monitor or does it not matter. I need a longer dvi-vga cable as well, do they make them. This all depends if the problem actually is that that I'm not using the DVI-VGA cable that came with my mac to connect to the monitor in the first place.
Can anyone help me out here. I'm using the Dell 2208WFP Ultra Sharp.

Bad adapter?
The G5 ports are DVI-I. Any good DVI-I to VGA adapter should be fine.

I tried what you said again but without success. I even updated the driver so that that audio driver is the same as the graphics driver i.e.. NVIDIA but this has not helped either:

Apple TV + HDTV Problem

Hello all,
I'm having an issue w/ our Apple TV and I'd like to see if anyone else can help.
We have a 40GB Apple TV w/ the current firmware 2.4.
We had a Samsung 42" Plasma 1080i/720p HDTV for a little over two years. We bought the Apple TV 6 months ago and every couple of days, the TV would fail to recognize the Apple TV--it would just sit there w/ a black screen, dead, and no picture. Rebooting would help for a little while but the only sure-fire fix was to unplug it, and plug it back in. This issue happened on average once a week. I had done 2 factory restores on the unit and it made no difference.
Our Samsung TV XY panel died so we were able to get it replaced under the insurance plan we had on it, and went with a JVC 42" LCD 1080p HDTV. Coincidentally, this TV has an iPod dock in the front of it as well, and works great w/ our 5th gen iPod nano (as well as iPhones)
The same issue that affected the Samsung Plasma also happens on the JVC (even after a 3rd factory restore). However, on this TV set, if I change source (ie. HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3) or turn the TV off/on, the TV cannot recognize the Apple TV at all. I took it to the Apple Store @ Brea Mall, and they said they had seen this before, and offered to replace it. A few days later, I picked up the replacement Apple TV, took it home an hooked it up. Sure enough, same issue.
I have two different brands of HDMI cable (Philips and Pure|AV), as well as 3 other HDMI devices (PS3, Scientific Atlanta HD DVR, Xbox 360) that each work/worked fine with both the previous TV (Samsung) and the current TV (JVC). The only one that has an issue is the Apple TV.
I contacted AppleCare and they said to take it back to the store and ask them to test it w/ their TV set on TV (a Pioneer). The repair tech at the Brea store tested it and sure enough, it had the exact same issue on their TV that it did on mine--when he changed/cycled the sources, the Apple TV (the 2nd one) would not show a picture when put back on the same port. The repair tech offered to replace it but I asked that he just document it and I will contact AppleCare (that's what the rep @ Applecare told me to do).
AppleCare sent me out a 3rd unit (which I currently have) and it is also having the same issue as the previous two, except this one has a very-VERY-very dim LED light on the front (almost not on). We did try the 2nd one on Component (1080i) and it worked fine, however, I cannot use it on HDMI with any of them.
According to AppleCare, they are "looking into it" but I have absolutely no idea what that means. This issue is going from weeks to months now and I wish I had never bought this thing, but my wife loves it and wants to get it to work. I'd use Component but it does not output at 1080p as advertised.
Does anyone have any experience with issues like this? Any suggestions? Thank you (in advance)

Although the symtoms may not be the same, the solution may point to the same problem with some sets HDMI circuitry. The $17 Monoprice adapter solution might be a cheap solution to your problem with the JCV's HMDI circuitry.
Thanks but I'm afraid it's not the same issue I am having; I'm getting no video or audio after I switch source or turn off the TV. If I turn the Apple TV on while the TV is already on, it works until I change the source or power off the TV set. When I power the TV set back on, same issue all over again.

Based on various other reports posted in the forum here, such problems appear to occur more often with certain brands of TVs and amps than others, but, based on my own experiences, I'd have to say the problem rests with the ATV. You wouldn't believe how much angst I've gone through w/ "Apple care" over this. The product specialist I spoke to first said it had to be the TV set (even after I explained it happened on both TVs). In your case, if you have an HDMI switch or an A/V amp with HDMI ports, you might try connecting it through that rather than directly to the TV and see if it makes a difference. Given the consistency of your problems, that may be the only way to salvage the situation for the sake of your wife.
Ya no doubt, she's not exactly happy about it not working, and we have a dozen or so iTunes movies we cannot watch on our TV set. I can hook it up via component but it's not what it was billed as (1080p w/ digital HDMI signal). Plus, I have a PS3 which has not had one single problem w/ either TV set (Samsung or JVC)--the 360 hasn't had any issues, nor has our Cable TV DVR box.

Apple TV 2 parental controls

I am looking for a way to change the selection of movies based on who is watching.
I have a huge video library on my mac, rated from G to R. Obviously we don't want our children watching anything other than G and PG. In the previous version of AppleTV we accomplished this by using both syncing and streaming. We made a playlist for our kids in iTunes and synced it with the AppleTV, therefore all the kids' movies were on the AppleTV. During the day, we would have the source set to the AppleTV, then at night we would switch the source to our computer. This would reveal our entire library to us.
It doesn't seem that we can now switch sources in this new version of AppleTV software.
So I have two questions:
1. Does the new version have this capability and I can't find it?
2. Does the new version have a different way that I can have two different libraries available from my iTunes library? One being a library for my children and another library for mom and dad?
Also, iTunes has a Sharing preference which allows me to select specific playlists to share with other devices. I would think that I could create two different playlists (one for the kids and one for mom and dad), then during the day, just select to share the kid playlist and at night share the mom and dad playlist. I tried this but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?
Any help would be much appreciated.

For that matter, it sure would be nice if the 4 digit code wasn't so damned obvious! I sometimes will choose to approve a program for the kids, but I have to make them leave the room so they can't see the code! This points back to the woefully simple remote more than anything. If there were number keys there would not be a need for the numbers to be displayed on screen.
