Switching to iCloud without a Mac computer
i Would like to switch my wife from Google Calendars to iCloud calendar as thats what i have done and makes it easier to both be on the same system. i have a MBP, but she does not. Whats the best way to switch her?
with myself, in my Calendar/iCal ap i copied all my events and calendars over. She doesnt have this luxury of having a Mac. Can i give her a login on my MBP, login, set up her iCloud on my MBP and do as i did?
or is there an easier way?
You can set up a new user account on your Mac for her, which then behaves in effect as if she had her own computer, and use it to set up an iCloud account from scratch. Note that any one device can only create three iCloud accounts. You need to keep her on a separate account from yours or everything will get jumbled up together: of course only one person at a time can use the Mac (though changing over can be effected quickly by using Fast User Swiotching).

How do i purchase keynote for multiple users without a MAC computer?
Guy, you see, I understand you need to be with the Mac you want to download Keynote.
And yeah, Keynote only works with the Mac OSX and iOS -
I normally use Outlook for Mac as the standard email and calendar programm. When I use the USB cable fro synchronising contacts and calendars with my iPhone 4s ther is not problem at all. iCal, Mail and Oulook for Mac are synchronising perfectly.
When I switch to iCloud, Oulook is completely empty and Calendar and Contacts are not synchronised anymore.
Is this a known problem, and is there a solution for it?I have the same keyboard and do not have battery issues.
It may have something to do with using rechargeable batteries.
You can also try removing the keyboard then re-pairing it. Maybe a bad bluetooth connection is draining the battery.
System Preferences > Bluetooth > right-click (control-click) on the keyboard > Remove > Remove
Wait for it to show in the bluetooth list then Pair > enter the number sequence & return as displyed on the screen. -
i tried to restore it to it's original settings but when i tried to reinstall it, it would say that i hadn't bought it. so then i bought the lion os and the code took forever to come but now i cannot find anywhere that i can input it. i cannot access the mac store because the mac doesn't have lion and i can't input the code using my windows computer. he didn't have any installation discs and i'm not wasting another cent on this computer to buy them. is there something i can use to input the code?
The Lion redemption code can only be used in the App Store application found in 10.6.6, and higher Macs.
You can't download it from a PC or a phone. -

Having been without my Mac for a month I've been using iCloud mail.on a PC. The new mail boxes that I set up there do not automatically show up in Mail on my replacement Mac. Is there any way to transfer them from ICloud mail to Mail? Thanks.
sure pretty simple. make a backup of your current settings
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US
then restore device from old backup you need pics off of
then import pics to computer
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
you may need to save pics to camera roll first
then restore the new backup and sync pics back to phone via itunes

I would'like create an acount, for my mother. She use my old eMac G4, and i would'like to give her an email adress really simple to use, just ONLINE, with safari...
iCloud.com is the most simple email box ; so, how i can create a adress, without a mac with lion, without iPhone, and without a PC.... ?You need a computer to create the account, but once created, you don't need any device to use it, except of course a computer with a browser to view emails.

When I sync my iPhone 5 and i to my non Mac computer, do I turn my iCloud off?, When I sync my iPhone 5, and iPad 2. to my non Mac computer, do I turn my iCloud off?
I used the My Contacts Backup before I synced with my non-Mac computer. Thanks for the info.
1. I turned iCloud OFF on my iPad before syncing to be sure that my contacts, etc. WOULD update on my computer, without DUPLICATING on my iPad. Didn't work. I have 6 of every contact & 6 of every Calendar entry!
2. Then I synced my iPhone 5 WITHOUT turning iCloud off. Not only did I wind up with 6 of every contact on my iPhone, but also 6 of every Calendar entry! PLUS, I maxed out disc space on my computer, and barely made it through the sync!
Please tell me there is a way to eliminate all the duplicates in one complete motion! It took me months to get rid of them on all three devices after the last sync, before I could perform this sync.
Thank you! -
Hi,
I have an iPad2 and an iTouch (64G) devices as well as a Mac running snow leopard. I dont want to update to Lion because I will not be able to use my quicken software (I am aware of quicken essentials for mac) I am receiving emails that I am running out of time for my Mobile Me account and I am being encouraged to switch to iCloud. My question is if I switch to iCloud on my devices will I still be able to sync with my computer? No. You will need to upgrade to Lion to sync with your computer. You can use the web version of icloud but it is clunky and doesn't work as well.

icloud suddenly stopped transferring files approximately 48 hours ago and that includes, contacts, Pages, etc to my iPad and Mac Computer from my iPhone How can I correct this problem? prior to that I had no problems with icloud transfers. what suggestions are there to remedy this problem?.
On your iPad and iPhone tap Settigs > iCloud
Switch Documents & Data off then back on. Do the same for Contacts.
On your Mac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Documents & Data, same for Contacts then reselect both boxes then restart your Mac. -
I have successfully changed my apple ID and password, but cannot get my Mac computer to change it on iCloud. I have accessed system preferences, iCloud and sign out. But now I do not know how to sign in using my new id and password. I would like iCloud to work on my Mac so that it will sync to my iPhone and iPad. I have installed all of the latest software. How do I change this account on my Mac?
Do you have your Mac backed up?
If not, you should use Time Machine to back up your Mac to an external hard drive just "in case".
But if all you did was change your existing ID, then deleting the Calendar infomation from the Mac when you sign out should not be an issue. Since it is the same Apple ID, it is the same iCloud account (just with a different name), so your Contacts, Calendars, etc. are stored in iCloud. When you sign back in, you will have the option to sync Contacts, Calendars, Notes, etc. with iCloud - it should already be checked. Just sign back in, and your iCloud info will re-download to your Mac.
I just tried this, and all of my stuff showed up when I signed back in. Notes took a couple of seconds to load once I opened them, but they are all there.
Note: If you are signing on with a brand new Apple ID, then nothing will be downloaded because it will be an entirely different iCloud account. But if it is the same Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID with just a new email, then it will all be restored.
Cheers,

Like many others after I installed Maverick I found that all the calendar history has been lost and most of the forward info has also been lost. Also in order to get calendar, contacts and notes to sync with the iPhone I have had to move to iCloud. Contacts and notes sync fine. new calendar entries sync ok. My iPhone has all the calendar entries that were on the Mac before I installed Maverick. So far iCloud has not overwritten them nor have they synced onto iCloud.
How can I get all the entries from my iPhone onto iCloud, without losing the only copy of my calendar from my iPhone?
Thanks Apple for deciding to take over my privacy. I do not want this data stored on a US based server. Fortunately Mail still syncs via my own email provider. I guess Apple will find a way to stop that soon too!Greetings Nefertiti72,
It seems you are experiencing an issue with contact syncing and management. It seems you've removed an email account which contained a number of contacts that are not associated with your iCloud account. I have linked to a knowledge base article which provides more information about iCloud contacts syncing:
Get help using iCloud Contacts - Apple Support
Learn what to do if you’re having issues using iCloud Contacts. For example, you might make changes to Contacts that don't update across all of your devices.
You may want to consider importing the contacts from the email account you removed. You can do it easily by following the steps in this article:
iCloud: Import a vCard
You can import an electronic business card, also called a vCard, into iCloud Contacts. If the vCard contains contact information for more than one person, each contact becomes a separate entry.
In iCloud Contacts, choose Import vCard from the Action pop-up menu , which appears at the bottom of the All Contacts list or a list of group contacts
Select a vCard to import.
The contacts from the vCard are added to the All Contacts group in Contacts. You can add the contacts to any other group by dragging them to the desired group.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

I have a used mac computer. I want to sync and update my iphone. Currently itunes tells me that my iphone is connected to a different itunes account and will sync, but delete everything from my phone. How do I make itunes sync and update my phone without deleting all the current information on my phone?
Iphone will sync with one and only one cpomptuer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer. This is the design of the iphone.
It will erase the content when you sync.
Why not update from the comptuer with which you normally sync? -
Can I get rid of one ID? How do I do that?
one on my MacBook Pro
That's not an Apple ID. That is your admin account which you can view in System Preferencs > Accounts or Users & Groups.
If I switch from MobileMe to iCloud on my Mac (under the apple logo) will my devices work and sync in iCloud. I have no idea how I go 2 IDs
Just use your current Apple ID when you setup your iCloud account that you use for your devices.

Can there be more than one icloud account on a computer? I have an icloud account with my iphone but would like to view my photo stream on my husbands mac. I do not have a mac but an older PC. thanks
Welcome to the Apple community.
The simple answer is yes you can. On a single user computer, the user can have secondary iCloud accounts, which they can add through the system preferences > mail, contacts and calendars. The only drawback here is that only the primary iCloud account can use photo stream. This can be worked around by having a second user account on the Mac. Each user account could then have a different primary iCloud account, one for you and one for him, your account could then receive your photo stream pictures.
Are you also aware that you can have iCloud on your PC and download your photos stream pictures to it.
