Switching users on iTunes

How do I switch users on Itunes. I need to sync another Iphone to one Mac Computer and do not want to transfer my Itunes info, music contacts etc. to the second Iphone. I have already set up a second Itunes account but can't get it to open.

Apple menu > Log out then log into the other user.
Open iTunes and sync.

We have a problem with iTunes when we switch users. We both (only 2 users) have full admin rights and no password required. Both iTunes use the same media source, have the same library name, have sharing turned on, are configured the same exactly. The problem is that for one user (me, actually) all of the music, playlists, apps, etc are as they should be. Switch to the other user (my wife), open iTunes, and no music, playlists, etc. What can we do so that we both have the same iTunes?

Move your /Music/iTunes folder to /Users/Shared/ folder.
Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select *Choose library* and select the iTunes folder in /Users/Shared/.
Quit iTunes.
Have your wife log into her account.
Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select *Choose library* and select the iTunes folder in /Users/Shared/.
Quit iTunes.
That's it.
Only one user can be logged into iTunes at a time so if you are using Fast User switching and the other user wants to open iTunes, you must quit iTunes before switching users.

I just set up an Apple account, and my fieonce has already had one. I need to switch from his account to mine. I do not know how to do that, since there is not a thing that says that he is loged onto his account. I do not know if I need to set up a who nother user on the computer, or what do do...... I am not sure exactly what you are asking here. The closest thing I can think of is Fast User Switching which is initiated by checking a box in the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences.

It is if you are trying to stream it.
Users may want to stream their music into a third party program such as Ventrilo (as I do) to share their music (but not their libraries) with other listeners and speak on Ventrilo at the same time. You need two user profiles running Ventrilo at the same time, and two user profiles running iTunes.
When I roll over to User Profile #2 after setting up iTunes to stream into Vent in User Profile #1, iTunes stops playing. This is a recent change. It's annoying.

Yes, it should work but you might not want to use Fast User Switching.

They can, but not at the same time.
If one user left iTunes running, and another user tries to use iTunes from a different Windows user ID, that second user will get an error message. If they really want to use iTunes, they either have to beg the first user to log in and close iTunes, or else they have to restart the computer.
If you are asking the technical reason why, it is something about context switching.

You get this message when trying to back up to iCloud? That error message is normally associated with backing up to your computer using iTunes, not backing up to iCloud. Check Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup to be sure iCloud Backup is turned On at the bottom.

I have my computer set up with two users, one for work and one for "play". I use iTunes in both users and they both use the same library. Because of this, iTunes cannot be open and functioning on both users at the same time. Since I regularly switch between the two (perhaps more than I should), I need to quit iTunes to use it in the other user. However, I often forget and have to switch back to the previous user in order to quit the program... which is pretty annoying.

Hm, you can trigger script's on login & logout, but it does not seem to be possible to do this on a fast-user-switch....
So trigger the fast-user-switch itself and quit iTunes within this process:

Switch playlist of itunes dj automatically after certain time

hello,
i have 2 playlists in itunes. i would like to do the following:
1) itunes plays the first playlist by playing the songs in a random order and continues to do this, until
2) after a certain time (say 30 minutes), itunes switches to the second playlist and plays these songs in a random order and continues to do this for another 30 minutes.
now, for the randomization, i could use shuffle with repeat, but the problem with that is that after all songs are played in the playlist, the exact order repeats again. i don't want this. i want itunes to choose a random song from the playlist each time, even if it is the same one twice in a row. as i understand it, the itunes dj allows this possibility.
for the automatic switching, i read that i can use apple's automator to accomplish this. however, this is my first time using it. i chose workflow, and then music under 'actions'. i see a bunch of stuff for itunes but there is no itunes dj.
i don't know where to go from here or if there is an easier way to do this. does anyone have any ideas?

Also, I added a condition to exit the script if the user quit iTunes, but the script only works once every thirty minutes.

You could also create multiple user accounts. iTunes libraries are separated by uer account, so a new account will have an empty library.
To set up another User Account in Windows, open Control Panel, and select User Accounts. Create a new account (see the sidebar for help) and then log into that account. (You can use fast user swiching to leave yourself loged in and switch between the two accounts. Just go to Start -> Log Off -> Switch User) Once you are logged into the new account, open iTunes and you will see an empty library ready for you to fill with music. Hope this helps!

Try connecting the iPad to the computer that you do not want to WiFi sync with and uncheck the WiFi sync option in iTunes. Then click on Apply. Reboot the iPad and see if that does the trick.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

I've been using my iPhone now since September 2007. I have had NO problems.
I depart for Iraq 1/29 for a year. My wife is going to use the iPhone while I'm away. I want to switch users from me to her with email, contacts, bookmarks and everything. Is there anything I need to know about before switching? The iPhone will maintain the same telephone number because Apple and AT&T doesn't know how to swap the two numbers without blowing everything up or starting a whole new contract again. So she is taking my number and I'll take hers.
Also we are set up in Windows as two different users. She has a logon and I have a logon. That way we each have our own identity in Outlook, Internet Explorer and such. She also has different Bookmarks than I have. Can I logon as her and sync without any problems?
I just don't want anything to happen when I switch users information or sync. Any advance advice is appreciated.

When you log into a different user, iTunes creates a different library. Therefore, your phone will be recognized and when you try to sync it will recognize that you are syncing to a different library and ask you to erase and sync with the new settings you select. It will erase the old data you had on the phone and replace it with what your wife wants to put on the phone. It's the same process for syncing with a different computer.

Do running processes (copy files) continue when switching user?

I am moving my iTunes media library from an internal hard drive onto. An external HD. This will likely run for a few hours. If other users want to use the computer will the copy process temporarily suspend or be stopped if the fast switch user feature is invoked?

Sorry for the delay. But the problem remains. You ask what I did to create the problem. It was confusing, but I'll try to reconstruct: I wanted to change the account name. iTunes identified the computer as mine but I didn't want my daughter to access my account (and credit card :-O). So I chose preferences - account - unlocked the account – renamed the administrator. Then I could open cards in the adress book, but when I did adress book was emty and all files, photos, music was gone. And I couldn't get access to them again, not even using what's written above.
Can you help me?
I have been told that I need to be a rootadministrator to get access to everything on the computer. Do you know how?

How can I have multiple users on iTunes (in order to connect to a shared office iPad)? Currently each of us has our own iTunes account, so I've made an "all office" Apple ID. However, I can't seem to get two different accounts (my personal and the office) to work on my machine. Even when I login as "the office", my personal library is still showing. Additionally, when I try to setup with a first-time use in iTunes, I get an error that I don't meet the minimum age requirement - no matter what birthdate I enter!

The library exists regardless of which user is logged in.
The only way around that is to create different user accounts on the computer.
There is no way to have 20 unique iTunes users access a shared iTunes under a single login on the computer.

On screen lock screen, the keyboard does not work, switching to the switch-user screen the keyboard works again

Mac OS-X 10.7.5, Mac Air.
This began about 5 to 7 days ago.
Steps to reproduce:
Step 1:
Close the lid, or the system 'powers down', or goes to the screen saver mode.
Step 2:
Open the lid, press the power button, or what ever to wake up the Mac Air
The "Enter your password" screen is presented.
They keyboard is not responsive, I cannot type anything.
The touch pad works, I can power on/off the machine.
They keyboard is not functional.
Result: I cannot log in again.
Expected behavior: The keyboard should be working I should be able to unlock the screen.
Workarounds:
Then click on my name, or any other user of the machine and it works fine.
I can now unlock the screen and return to where I was.
Expected behavior:
I should not have to go to the "Switch User Screen" to log back in.

More detail: Some keys on the keyboard do work, ie: caps lock toggles the led, and the function keys across the top seem to work {that is I can adjust brightness, and so forth}
the letter and numbers, and perhap others do not work.
