Switching views in iTunes -- song list to album to artist...

How do I get the older/better/more efficient interface back for my iTunes? I switch between these views all the time and it was one click -- now it is a royal pain in the butt! What happened to the cleaner interface? How do I get it back?

I recently downloaded Daft Punk's new album after buying it on vinyl. after importing it to itunes, itunes wont list the album in track order. instead it lists the tracks in order per artists. example Daft punk, then Daft punk featuring Pharrel Williams ect...how do i get itunes to understand that they're all the same album and to list them in track order??

Most likely, this is happening because the Album Artist field is different for each song from Random Access Memories. We have an article about song grouping in iTunes, and it can be found here:

There are a couple ways to fix the information listed for Random Access Memories outlined in that article, but I want to point out one here:
Albums in which all songs don't have the same Album Artist information
iTunes 7 and later includes a new attribute for song files called Album Artist This allows you to assign a primary artist name for an album that many includes songs by several artists. It is important that all songs in the album have the same Album Artist name. To assign an Album Artist, select all the songs in the album and choose Get Infofrom the File menu. Next, type a name in the Album Artist field name such that it will apply to all the selected songs. This field can optionally be left blank if all the songs have the same album name.
The Album Artist field is shown in the above picture, but it is not highlighted. You will also want to make sure the Track Number field contains the correct information for the album, and information on that field can be found here:

Is it possible to move itunes song list?

Windows XP Pro
I am trying to move an itunes song list to either windows doc or photo studio 2000 so I can edit list by adding extra songs that there is not room for on reg itunes print out. I would also like to edit color print out in one of those programs. Is it possible to move? I am using windows xp pro. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, ibark

I figured out that I can copy and paste the album covers that appear in the "now showing" window and place on desktop.I then go into my label maker and get new image from desktop. I use them on my cd's..as far as copying list to another program I haven't figured that one out yet!!

Even though no one replied, i fixed my problem.
Don't know if it will work for anyone else with similar problem
but all I did was a CHKDSK then a defragment of my laptop and now everything seems to be working fine.

Viewing music titles / song lists from iPod on iTunes

I have updated iTunes on my computer (Windows XP) several times over the last few years & now when I connect my iPod to the computer, I don't seem able to view my music titles / song lists. Anybody know why or how I can do this?
Now when I click on the iPod icon... I get a 'Summary' page, a 'Music' page with an option to 'sync' etc... but cannot see my music content on the iPod...
How (e.g.) can I delete or change content on my iPod??
Any help/instructions/solution gratefully received!

Have you clicked on the small disclosure triangle to the left of the iPod listing (under "devices" in iTunes)?

ITunes doesnt list the album songs in order. i bought the album from itunes and managed to fix some songs, but 2 tracks are still out of order

I bought "Ultraviolence" from iTunes on release day. When I got it, the songs were arranged in order and everything was as it should be. However, ysterday, just 1 day after purchasing the album, the first 5 songs of the album jumped to the back. I was able to return the first 3 songs to their original position, however tracks 4 and 5 are still stuck at the bottom and nothing i do seems to be able to bring them back to where they're suppose to be. I have tried everything I have read on the Internet about sync issues and restore etc and not there isn't a single song on my iPad or iPod touch. All of the songs are listed in my iTunes but are all greyed out, some have the cloud symbol next to them but lots don't and some say waiting.

Is there a way to export playlists in the order they are in album list view rather than song list view?

Right-click on playlist name and click Copy to Play Order

How do I get ITUNES to list my albums correctly?

ITUNES seems to rearrange my albums in a way that's too complicated.
For example, we have a Gwen Stefani album and it lists it twice because there is a song that she had someone sing with her.
Can I get Itunes to ONLY show/list the album regardless if other people are on the album?
Also, it seems to be rearranging song and listing them from last to first.

Look at the right side of the column header you are sorting on. Click the triangle to switch between ascending & descending sort.

HT204074 How do you delete a song off your ipad that is not listed on the itunes song list?

Some songs came already loaded with my new ipad air that I hate and want to delete but can't locate the directory where they reside. I downloaded a file manager app but it only had the option to add new folders, not access the one's already on the ipad. I signed up for icloud and even bought itunes match at the direction of a blog someone wrote as a way to access the icloud song list and delete the songs. I deleted the album purchase (that I never made in the first place) listed in the purchase section of iTunes. The songs are not listed on my PC version of itunes so I can't delete them from there (right click and choose delete). They are only on the ipad itself. Why is it so difficult to simply remove a file from your ipad? Is there a way to delete these songs or am I stuck with them on my ipad music list? I reset the entire setup thinking it would erase everything on my ipad but that didn't work either. Please advise. Thanks.

Does it play on the iPad?
What happens when you swipe it left and fight? You should get a Delete or Remove button. If Remove then there will be a cloud icon by the song after you remove the sound file from the iPod.
If it is U2 album then:
Remove U2 Album

Songs list on album is incorrect in iTouch

When playing a song, for example, The Carpenters "For All We Know" The Ultimate Collection. The iTouch is showing the album art for this song. Press the ._ bars at the top right corner to see the songs on this album. What do you get? Every song for every artist that also has an album with the title "The Ultimate Collection".
These is not what I want to see and don't think it is what Apple meant for it to show. It should just show songs on this album.
The same thing happens when you rotate to see the albums and you select The Carpenters's album, tap it so that it rotates to the songs on the album, you get songs such as "Love Child" from Diana Ross showing and others.
I am very particular about my tags being correct and believe me they are. It is the iTouch software not taking into consideration the artist as well as the album when compiling it together to show for that album.

Recovering iTunes Song List (iTunes Library.xml not updated)

How do I recover the iTunes library song list? My computer recently crashed, so I had to get this new one. The old hard drive is working fine. I just need the song list to be able to identify the songs that I have yet to copy unto my iPod (I arrange the library by 'Date Added'). Since my music files are located in a variety of places, it would be very difficult for me to locate each without being guided by the list.
For some weird reason, the iTunes Library.xml is not updated. It's still dated 2009, so that fix goes out the window, I guess.

Itunes song list is dimmed

for some reason the song list on my ipod when i have the ipod highlighted in itunes is dimmed and i cannot click on any of the individual songs. does anyone know how i could fix this?

It's because you have the iPod set to automatic transfer.
Change to manual transfer, the songs will be bold and selectable.

I'm getting some strange displays on my iTunes song list????

When a song changes on iTunes on my computer, but another window is over it, (such as a web page of instant messenger) the place where the window is covering my iTunes play list the words are all jumbled. I've managed to figure out that what is happening is when a page is over my iTunes and the song changes to reposition the playlist, the previous playlist words are copied over the new playlist position. But when I click on 1 or all the songs the words straighten out. This only happens when like on random the song changes from 1 to 98 (or any change that causes the bar on the side to scroll) and only when another window is over iTunes when it happens. It has no affect on the playing of the song, it just looks weird. How do I fix this?
(ps I tried to explain as best I could, but if its still too confusing I can try to re-phrase it)

How do I get a list of albums ONLY by artist and export to Excel etc? I do not want the songs as generally know the songs on the album.

You can get it directly out of iTunes by the command Print > Album Listing > List of Albums.
Also, if you are good at Excel, you can paste your iTunes library listing into Excel and use the Excel filtering and sorting capabilities to get whatever view you want.

"Current iTunes Song" - How can I make artist name first THEN song title?

When I have "Current iTunes Song" selected, it shows the song title first and then the artist name. I would like it to be reversed so that people on my buddy list can easily see the artist instead of the song title.
I have been able to locate a very easy solution to this in the past, but that has seemed to vanish into thin air and I cannot find it.
