Swollen battery.. won't hold a charge? HELP!!

Let me start off with... the Blackberry Curve has to be one of the worst phones I've ever had. Seriously.
I purchased my first Blackberry in 2010 I believe and it was the Curve 8530. Started off great but then I eventually started getting problems like my trackpad would stop working and then certain letters wouldn't work anymore. After sending it in for repair 3-4 times, which doesn't work they just fix the phone and it'll work for a week or so and then the problem re-occurs. Well luckily, or not so lucky, I was given a brand new Curve 9300 3G last year. Things started out great and I actually loved the phone. It was much better than the first one but of course, problems started.
From trackpad not working to white screens, this Curve sucks too. Now I'm facing a battery problem. I started noticing the battery cover wasn't fitting properly. At first I assumed it was from dropping it or something but then I tried removing the battery and placing the cover back on. It closed properly. Right when I go to put my battery back in, I noticed that the middle of the battery was swollen. I immediately took it out thinking it might blow up or something and switched it with the battery of my old Curve. Within a week I had the same problem...
On top of this, the batteries would get to 80% and just die completely. So, for two days I would charge each battery one by one use it until it died and switch it for the other. Obviously this gets annoying so I ended up finding another Curve battery. It was fine for about a month or so before the same thing occurred.
What sucks is I'm in a 3 year contract. I can't afford to cancel my contract or purchase a new phone so I'm stuck until I'm eligible for an upgrade which is who knows when. I want to know if it's me ruining these batteries, this stupid Curve or if these batteries (somehow all 3) are defected and how can I stop this from happening from other batteries?

Hey Jenna510,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
When charging the BlackBerry® smartphone are you using the charger that came with the BlackBerry® smartphone? Or a 3rd party USB wall charger or car charger charger? If you are using an official BlackBerry® smartphone charger, we would suggest contacting your point of sale for warranty and repair options.
Thanks.

  • *new* 80GB, Battery won't hold a charge?

hey guys, i just got an 80gb and it won't hold a charge.
when it's plugged into my mac or the external charger it works fine but when i unplugged from either source it plays about 2 songs (showing full battery life) and then displays the low battery sign and then cuts off.
did i get a lemon? does it just need a new battery?
    please help if you can.

Not thinking there is a local handy apple store in iraq. Really thing I can suggest is you trying the five r's see here
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/. Not really much else at this point. Probably really is a service issue, but give the other a try. Maybe if you find somebody going back to the real world they can take it and have it serviced for you and send it back. Is there no way you can send it in using fpo/apo (not sure what they call it now adays) you can go online here and request service:http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or maybe send it back to a loved one they can exchange if for you and send it back. You can request service on line, use your home address and they will send the package to your home, then your family can send it into apple for you, or have them take it to 5th ave.
Sorry I can't be of more help and [b]thanks for what you are doing over there! Been there, done that, got the tshirt to prove it (viet nam 2nd rangers)

  • I just purchased a new in factory sealed box ipod 5.5. I removed all from packaging and charged overnight. The battery won't hold a charge. How do I get a new battery under warranty for this NOS item?

I Just purchased a NOS ipod 5.5 brand new in factory sealed packaging from an apple dealer. I charged the unit overnight but the battery will not hold a charge. I read the Apple warranty and expect Apple to honor the warranty to the original end user purchaser (me). however I do not want to give up this iPod for a newer model because I love the sound from the Wolfson board. The newer iPods sound horrible and give me headaches. Does Apple still provide batteries for the 5.5 30 gb iPod? Or am I out of luck due to obsolescence? Thanks in advance!

I feel your angst, especially, knowing that Apple has become the most profitable company in the world, by selling us products that breaks down when the warranty run out, and crap service staff, who doesn't know anything about the iPod Classic, except offer to sell us refurbished iPod classic.
You can get the Battery replaced at 3rd Party store for less.
BTW, (most contributors might not agree with me) if  you recharged your iPod everyday, it will be dead just 2 months after the warranty expires. My logic, the iPod battery will last for about 400 recharge cycles according to Apple Specs listed below
    Charge Cycles
A properly maintained iPod battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles
So if your lifestyle is plugin in to car Audio dock, while driving, and plug in to home stereo while home, then it is 2-3 charge cycles per day.
But then you cant do anything about it, just switch to another media player.

  • 3rd Generation iPod Touch battery won't hold a charge.

My 3rd Generation iPod touch has been very reliable for the past few years, but recently I've been noticing a decrease in its battery life. The battery will now, on a full charge, last about 4 hours on continuous usage. Is this normal? I recall it lasting longer before.
    Thanks!

Very likely that the barger is wearing out. That happens with time/charge/discharge cycles. 4 hours is standar for an old iPod like yurs.

I love my little E2, and it's served me well over the past 3 years. Unfortunately it would seem my battery's life is at an end. Is it possible to change the battery in this unit? And if so, how do I go about getting a replacement? I'm in Toronto Canada, are there any service dealers in my area?

  • I pod classic battery dies (2n ipod classic that i've had to do this) and won't hold a charge. 1 month out of warranty. How do you get a company to make better products or have better warrantys?

Second time this has happened to an ipod classic that i bought (the last one I bought 14 months ago and it is out of apples warranty.) Battery won't hold a charge or even register when pluged into anything (wall charger, USB, mac book, etc.)
Apple is refusing to do anything except charge me $60 for a refurbished battery (let me remind you that I gave them $370 14 months ago for a brand-new (not refurbished) i pod classic.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this battery issue? The obvious answer is for apple to make a better product (2 ipod classics, 2 ipod classic battery die outs. the most recent purchase in a shocking 14months ago.) Better products or more realistic and forgiving warrantly policys.) I am NOT going to pay for the $60 swap out as Apple has taken enough money from this sucker (will never purchase another shoddy apple product again.)
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice? Shame on me for giving my $ to apple. THEY ARE A FAD COMPANY WHOSE PRODUCTS ARE PART OF A CULTURAL FAD---nothing real is in there (well SOMETHING was real and working for 14months.)

I feel your angst, especially, knowing that Apple has become the most profitable company in the world, by selling us products that breaks down when the warranty run out, and crap service staff, who doesn't know anything about the iPod Classic, except offer to sell us refurbished iPod classic.

  • IPod Touch (5th Gen) Battery Won't Hold Charge

After the last update my iPod Touch 5th Gen will not hold a charge. I haven't had any problems with it until this 8.1.1 update. Yesterday I charged the battery up to full charge and  used it briefly to listen to music in my car however here it is the next day and the battery is dead again. It is NOT playing while not in my car. Meaning nothing should be running the battery down because it's not being used.  I know it's not playing because the volume is set to half way so I'd undoubtedly hear it if it was playing.  It just won't hold a charge and for no apparent reason. Any suggestions?

  • Satellite S55-A5255 Battery won't hold charge

Like the title says this S55-A5255 won't hold a charge. From what I've been reading and stuff that this battery isn't "user replaceable". Which can be done. The trouble I'm having is trying to find a battery for this laptop. I can't find it no where! All major retailers and computer techs tells me that they have no idea where I can purchase this battery. Toshiba sells the laptop but tells me they no longer replace the battery if it comes in to be repaired. Plus since this laptop is out of warranty I don't want to spend several hundred dollars to get one battery. Does anyone know the manufacturer that sells these batteries or know anyone that sells it?

  • My macbook pro won't hold a charge for more than a day...do I need a new battery?

    my macbook pro won't hold a charge for more than a day...do I need a new battery?  I have a 13" early 2011 model.

A: did you leave most of the time or always plugged in?
B: did you often drain the battery very low?
If so, then thats the issue
    From Apple on batteries:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1446
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/
    Storing your MacBook
If you are going to store your MacBook away for an extended period of time, keep it in a cool location (room temperature roughly 22° C or about 72° F). Make certain you have at least a 50% charge on the internal battery of your Macbook if you plan on storing it away for a few months; recharge your battery to 50% or so every six months roughly if being stored away. If you live in a humid environment, keep your Macbook stored in its zippered case to prevent infiltration of humidity on the internals of your Macbook which could lead to corrosion.
    Considerations:
Your battery is subject to chemical aging even if not in use. A Lithium battery is aging as soon as its made, regardless.
In a perfect (although impractical) situation, your lithium battery is best idealized swinging back and forth between 20 and 85% SOC (state of charge) roughly.
Further still how you discharge the battery is far more important than how it is either charged or stored short term, and more important long term that cycle counts.
Ultimately counting charge cycles is of little importance.  Abuse in discharging (foremost), charging, and storing the battery and how it affects battery chemistry is important and not the ‘odometer’ reading, or cycle counts on the battery.
Everything boils down to battery chemistry long term, and not an arbitrary number, or cycle count.
Keep your macbook plugged in when near a socket since in the near end of long-term life, this is beneficial to the battery.
    Peace

  • IPhone 4S battery no longer holding a charge

My iPhone 4S is ~2.5 years old and it no longer seems to charge or hold a charge. I can leave it plugged in for a day or more and it will only charge 3-5% or it'll actually start to **lose** charge while plugged in. It'll also lose charge if I start doing anything while it's plugged in, like messenging or reddit. It also frequently disconnects/reconnects with my computer and my friend's computers as well as the wall socket and iTunes gives the error message: 0xE8000084
I had the battery replaced on Saturday but the problem still happens. I restored it to factory settings and set it up as a new phone, but it still won't hold a charge. I've also tried: switching power chords, switching which USB socket it's plugged into on my computer
I posted somewhere else and someone told me that they thought it was a logic board failure. If it is, what're my options? From googling round it seems like I'm SOL...
Any help would be super appreciated.

Who replaced the battery the first time? If it was anyone other than Apple, your phone is unsupportable. Apple won't touch it either in or out of warranty.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me before i throw the phone out my window????
What happened when you tried putting different battery in it? Did you ask to borrow one to test from the carrier?
Or did you purchase a new battery and try it?
Do you have the right battery for this series phone  and is it an OEM Blackberry battery?
