SWTOR Midnight Openings

So, when will we know if our store will open at midnight for SWTOR?

Because as of 10pm(the time may be wrong) on the 19th the servers are going down and if you don't have your retail key on your account then you can't play till you do.  There was supposed to be a grace period because of when the game was comming out and how hectic shipping gets this time of the year, but the dev who blabbed about it was talking out of his butt.  Now EA and Bioware are considering doing the grace period because of the massive outcry of the games community, but it's still not a 100% go.

  • November 18 Midnight Openings?

    So I checked out the Gaming Events page for the midnight openings next week, and on all of my local stores there is no information about it (nor have the news or events been updated in a number of months); is it safe to assume that there won't be any midnight openings in my area? Or have those pages just not been updated recently?
    I did find an old page for GTA IV that had a state-by-state listing of stores participating (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/games-promotions/gta-iv-midnight-store-openings/pcmcat150400050036.c?id=... - is it possible something like this exists for next week's launches, and I'm just missing it?
    Lastly, since I am in the pacific time zone, and the "midnight" promotions here typically start at 9PM, would it be possible to pick up my games right at 9PM (which happens to be the closing time of my local stores)? THANKS!

    We are, indeed, holding midnight opening events next week! Grand Theft Auto V was recently added to our main Gaming Events page, along with Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition:
    Midnight Store Openings
    To find a participating store in your area, simply click on the game's listing and choose your state from the menu that appears.
    As far as starting times are concerned, last week's staggered midnight opening events were specific to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare due to its Day Zero promotion. There's always a possibility other developers may choose to follow suit the future though, so the best advice we can give would be to keep an eye on our midnight opening announcements on BestBuy.com for updates.

  • Midnight openings?

    Since you guys aren't doing or planning any future midnight releases in the west coast, why not follow suit to gamestop and do a 9 o clock release? Kind of disappointed with some of these great releases and no events happening. At least do it for gamers unlocked members as an incentive along with the other great features it offers already.

    Having both run and gone to midnight events, they can definitely be hugely fun and a great experience!  Standing in line, chatting with your buddies or other gamers, it can make for an awesome atmosphere.
    I’ve seen some great ideas here and some very well may be something that we could look to implement.  Obviously there are costs involved anytime we are open beyond normal hours and a game launch has to make that opening worthwhile from a financial standpoint, regardless of what staff is present.   
    We definitely appreciate the feedback and suggestions and I would recommend that you continue to monitor our Gaming Events page here for possible midnight openings throughout the year!

    I received the email that some Best Buy stores will be opening at midnight for the Arkham Knight release on Monday June 22nd. However there isn't a clear list of participating stores, is it possible to provide a list of the participating stores?

    I always advise customers to reach out to their local store directly. It can vary depending on the store location and the feasibility of having a midnight release.  
    You can go to the Store Locator function and if the store is doing a midnight release they'll usually have it listed on their stores page under “News and Announcements”.

    I have asked many times at the Soquel bestbuy, store #797 I think it is. I am always being given the run around and keep being told to check online. I can not find the page that would allow me to find out. Will the Soquel California best buy be opening at midnight for halo4?

    Is there a way of knowing if our Best Buy store is having a midnight release? I can never find anything online about them and end up having to call the store.

  • Destiny midnight release

    I was just looking at the midnight release stores for destiny, and my store is unfortunately not one of the midnight openings. Since I pre-ordered the ghost edition, I have no way of changing my pick-up store. Is there any possible way to add my store to the midnight openings? I know of at least 3 other people that also pre-ordered at this store and would love to pick it up at midnight.

    It’s great to see that you managed to procure a pre-order for the Ghost Edition of Destiny! As an extremely eager and impatient gamer, I can completely understand why you’d want to pick up your copy right at midnight.
    While many Best Buy stores are able to accommodate a midnight release for a title such as Destiny, there are some stores that aren’t participating for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to influence which stores will be participating. However, the store lists are always subject to change, so I’d suggest keeping an eye on the Destiny page on BestBuy.com for any changes!

  • Midnight releases for fall 2009

    Any word on midnight releases for any of the games coming out in the next few months? I guess I'm asking specifically about Modern Warfare 2.  I would love to get this at BB but will probably have to go to game'stop' if BB isn't doing a midnight release.  I already checked the webpage below and nothing is currently listed.  Thanks!

  • NO-Pre Order/MidNight release Buyer?

    Can I still buy a Ps4 on the midnight launch without having it  pre-ordered??... I suppose all the consoles that have been pre-ordered are gonna be kept separated from the one that regular buyers (people that didn't pre-order) can buy..

    If you haven’t pre-ordered a PlayStation 4 there is still a chance you’ll be able to purchase one at one of our midnight opening events, although I certainly can’t make any guarantees.
    We are expecting to have a limited number of these consoles available for purchase on top of our pre-ordered quantities. We are anticipating lines to form for these midnight openings, and we will be separating them according to whether or not you have a pre-order.   • Destiny Midnight Opening and Release Week FAQ

    Destiny finally releases on 9/9/14 and select Best Buy stores will be opening at 12:01 a.m. that night to let you be the first to play. To help answer any questions you may have about the midnight opening process and the release in general, we’ve put together this FAQ.
    Midnight Opening Questions
    Q: How do I know if my local store is participating in the midnight openings for Destiny?
    A: You can visit BestBuy.com/GamingEvents to find all participating locations for the Destiny release. Once you’re there, select your state to view a list of participating locations in the selected state.
    Q: If I pre-ordered Destiny either in-store or for Store Pickup can I go to any Best Buy that is having a midnight opening to pick up my reserved game?
    A: If you pre-ordered on BestBuy.com and your order is to be picked up at a Best Buy store it must be picked up from the location that you selected when you placed your pre-order. If you pre-ordered in-store, you will need to go to the location where your order was placed to pick up your game.
    Q: Do I need to be at the midnight opening event at my location to pick up my pre-ordered copy of Destiny?
    A: All pre-orders will be held for a specified number of days after launch so you do not need to attend the midnight opening. For BestBuy.com Store Pickup pre-orders, your items will be held for 8 days. For pre-orders placed in-store, your items will be held for 5 days. After those timeframes, any orders that have not been picked up will be made available for purchase to others.
    Q: If I’m attending a midnight opening to pick up a pre-order, what do I need to bring with me?
    A: If you placed your pre-order on BestBuy.com for Store Pickup, please bring the following:
    Your government-issued photo ID
    The credit or debit card used for the purchase (if a credit card was used)
    Your order number
    If you placed your pre-order in a store, please bring the following:
    Your government-issued photo ID
    Your deposit receipt you received when you placed the pre-order
    Q: What time should I arrive at the store on the night of the midnight opening?
    A: The processing of pre-orders can begin at participating stores at 11:30 p.m. local time. While your pre-order may be processed before midnight, no copies of Destiny will be given to customers or allowed to leave the store until 12:01 a.m.
    Q: I didn’t pre-order a copy of Destiny. Will I be able to show up at a midnight opening and purchase one?
    A: Pre-ordered copies of the game will be held and processed first during the midnight opening. Any copies still available after all pre-orders are accounted for will be made available for purchase.
    Q: Will I be able to get the advertised Destiny T-Shirt if I attend a midnight opening?
    A: Our midnight opening stores will have a limited number of Destiny T-Shirts for those in attendance. These will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and will only be available while supplies last. Stores will have sizes ranging from small to extra large of the shirt, but again, they are limited quantity and only available while supplies last.
    General Release Questions
    Q: I pre-ordered Destiny for Store Pickup. Will I receive an email when it is ready?
    A: You should receive an email the day before release indicating your order is ready, but you will still need to wait until the release date of 9/9/14 to actually pick up the game.
    Q: I pre-ordered the Digital Guardian Edition of Destiny. When will I receive my download?
    A: The codes for the Digital Guardian Edition will begin to go out shortly after midnight CST on 9/9/14.
    Q: How will I receive the Vanguard Armory pre-order bonus if I pre-ordered Destiny?
    A: The codes for the Vanguard Armory pre-order bonus will be included in the packaging of the game.
    Q: I am a My Best Buy member and should receive $10 in reward certificates for pre-ordering and purchasing Destiny. When should I receive this?
    A: The 500 point bonus equal to $10 in reward certificates will post to your My Best Buy account within 15-20 days of the pre-order being fulfilled.
    Q: There is an offer this week to get a free Gamers Club Unlocked Membership with the purchase of an Xbox One or PS4 console. Can I get this offer if I pre-ordered the Destiny PS4 Bundle?
    A: If you pre-ordered this bundle and would like the free Unlocked membership, there are a couple ways to go about doing so. 
    If you placed your pre-order in-store with a deposit, the store should be able to add the membership to the pre-order redemption transaction.
    If you pre-ordered for shipping or Store Pickup, your best option will be to fulfill your pre-order and then return and re-purchase it in-store with the Unlocked membership. This is to ensure that you still receive your $10 in reward certificates from our “Get $10” offer, provided you are a My Best Buy member, and because we are currently only able to process Unlocked membership enrollments in-store. If you are not a My Best Buy member and therefore not eligible for the “Get $10” offer, you could also cancel your pre-order and then purchase the console in-store with the Unlocked membership.

    I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we aren't able to change the name associated with any pre-order. Friends and Family pickup options can also only be added to BestBuy.com orders at the time of checkout, and cannot be added once the order has been placed. You may, however, want to speak with a manager on duty at the store if you haven't already done so. While I cannot make any guarantees, they may be able to help you find an alternative solution.

  • Store Openings on West Coast for Midnight Release Events?

    Hello,
    Was last week's 9PM PST release for COD:AW an anomaly or is BB now doing midnight release based on 9PM PST/12PM EST schedule?
    Basically I want to know if I'll be able to go get my pre-order of Assassins Creed Unity at my store in Culver City (which isn't participating in the midnight launch) since BB closes at 10PM PST or if I won't be able to get it until 11/11.

    Kst8no1 is correct here: last week's staggered midnight opening events were specific to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare due to its Day Zero promotion. There's always a possibility other developers may choose to follow suit the future though, so the best advice we can give would be to keep an eye on our midnight opening announcements on BestBuy.com for updates.
