SX-20 TCNC6.2.0 to TC 7.1.4

Hi,
We have 8 SX-20s installed in verious meeting rooms. I have upgraded most of them to latest tc7.1.4, all went well except one unit restared and showing "Missing Release Key" error MSG (image Attached). It also became unavailable on LAN. Following a post I did factory reset (Hold power button 10 sec and pressing P/W button twice) and it is still unavailable on LAN. Following another post I went to www.cisco.com/go/license and found this unit came with tcnc6.2.0. My question is, is there any way to downgrade the system FW to tcnc6.2.0 in a situation where the device is not contactable through network (LAN)?
Regards
Jimi

Yes, if you still have the old software you can re-install it on to the SX20 to return it to the previous version... if you haven't overwritten it (with a 2nd upgrade), it's likely still on the device.  You'll just need to use the "systemtools selectsw" command (logged in to the CLI as "admin"), or the Maintenance > Software Recorvery Swap item on the TC7 web interface to swap back to the previous software.
Or, contact the TAC, and reference the latest security advisory (http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20140605-openssl) to get a "free" upgrade to TC7.1.4 as per the "customers without service contracts" section.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the software version of the C40 from TCNC to TC?

Our end user have existing C40 unit which supports TCNC sw and is currently using TCNC6.2.
their HO tried upgrading their unit to TC7.1.4.908e4e9 and it’s successful unfortunately the "missing RK" message appear.
I believe the TCNC is totally different from TC platform.
We also encountered this to other client, wherein the client wanted to upgrade their unit from TCNC to TC; but the difference is that the upgrade is not successful.
Thanks and hoping for your usual assistance.

The TCNC software for Cisco TP is software without encryption availability. Means you cannot make encrypted video conferences. If encryption is allowed in your country you can go to Cisco licensing and ask them to generate for software upgrade keys for TC software.

  • Release key

    Hi
I have a release key for tcnc6.3.1 now i want to upgrade to tc6.3.1.
How to get the release key for tc 6.3.1 and will i get it free?
"This was originaly posted as a blog which was deleted"

What George has posted is slightly wrong.  While software versions from TC6.1 onwards no longer require a specific release key, a device still needs to have a valid release key installed (for an one of the releases of software), and that key needs to be from the same software train (ie TC or TCNC) as the software you are installing.
Doing a search in these forums shows this question, or similar, has been asked a number of times before where the answer is:
If you have an active service contract on your device, you should contact Cisco TAC with your Endpoint Serial Number and service contract information and they will be able to assist in converting you from a TCNC to a TC licence/release key (assuming you're in a country that the TC software is allowed in).

  • Cisco SX20 SIP Registration Failed

    Hi,
I would like to share the issue we encountered on a Cisco SX20 endpoint that is failing to register on a VCS Control using SIP.
The endpoint is running TCNC6.2.0 version. The other endpoints running on TC5x.x, TC6.x.x, TC7.x.x has no issue.
The endpoint can register on the VCS but when we try to call one of the other endpoints, the call is not successful. The endpoint will ring and when we accept the call, there's no audio and video then call disconnects. After call disconnection, the endpoint failed to register on the VCS.
We tried to re-register again, restart the system then tried to do another call. Same issue encountered again.
On the VCS, we tried to create a subzone for that specific endpoint (subnet) with treat as authenticated policy. Problem still encountered.
We also tried to restore the codec to factory default settings but didn't resolve the issue.
    Seeking for your advise.
    Thank for help in advance.
    Thanks & best regards,
    Acevirgil

Since you are using the TCNC version of code, any encryption will not work for calls, so are you forcing encryption anywhere on the VCS or seeing the call try as TLS in the call history?

  • Where to download s52011tcnc6.2?

was trying to download the TCNC6.2 software for SX20. unfortunately as per cisco, it is already deferred.
anyone here can share a link on where to download the file aside from cisco?
    Thanks!

If software is deferred, it's usually because those versions aren't supported anymore, or they contain security vulnerabilities that have been patched in a later release and Cisco doesn't want the vulnerable software to be available anymore.  The most recent series of vulnerabilities affected a lot of TC software releases, so most got deferred because of this.  I suggest you use TC6.3.3 instead, as that release contains all the most recent fixes for several security vulnerabilities in the TC6.x software series.  Details about TC6.3.3 can be found in the TC6 release notes.
Any particular reason you're wanting to download TC6.2?  Because it is deferred, you're not going to find a download for it on Cisco's site or anywhere else, unless someone happens to still have a copy themselves and sends it to you.
