Sx280 video sport mode

The fullHD 1080@60p video mode is screaming for a sport mode on SX280,
modern tvs are at last really fast in terms of motion resolution, 60p would
be much much clearer if shutter speed could go way beyond 1/60s. [like 1/500, 1/1000]
The SX280 keeps the shutter slow, in order to get low noise, but with video, motion clarity is far more important than low noise. Motion gets blurred, if not recorded in the brightest sunshine, with shiny objects.
Is there a wishlist at Canon? For the next firmware update, I would vote to put a "sport mode" [shutter speed or ISO adjustment] to movie mode, just like it is in camcorders.

Read the manual. I no longer have a 280 but I recall you may have to disable image stabilization or change some kind of mode if you are panning video. The camera thinks your panning is shaking camera.

How can I change the Video Display Mode when the Monitor displays UNSUPPORTED MODE?

While setting up my new monitor, I changed the computer Video Display mode to 120 Hz by accident. Now I can't see a thing on the monitor other than the words UNSUPPORTED MODE.
My system is a newer HP Pavilion p7-1423W running Windows 8.1 with Intel i5-2320 3ghz
I have tried the Startup mode by tapping ESC on powerup but the startup options don't help. And the F11 option on the menu just makes the Startup screen disapear and returns the monitor to UNSUPPORTED MODE. Tapping F8 doen't work and tapping F12 just puts me into the bios menus which don't help.
How can I put the integrated Video Card back to a supported video mode when I can't see the screen?

Try the shift key + F8. If you can get in- doing a System Restore to a day before you messed up the setting should work without a need for Safe Mode.

I shot sports on my 50D using the sports mode. What mode do you shoot sports on usint the 7D?

Shooting in Sports mode is a convenient way to avoid learning how to do it right. It just uses a built in program that assumes some variables will always be similar so it sets the camera to capture action using that program & light meter readings. Unfortunately different sports require different settings to capture them properly, which is why more advanced cameras ignore those modes. Let me explain that plus I'll direct you to an article I wrote which should help you get a handle on the settings.
Sports & Action are one in the same when it comes to the camera settings but the shutter speeds used need to match what's considered a good photos of that activity. In motorsports we want to freeze the car or bike etc, blur the background & more importantly the wheel & tire to show speed. Freeze all of that & it looks like the car or bike etc is just parked on the track. The same for shooting prop planes, they need prop blur if they are flying through the air. The reverse is true for poeople playing sports (in general) so you use a faster shutter speed & freeze everything in the frame. Each activity is different so it's important to learn what looks correct & then set the camera to get that result PLUS learn how to pan SMOOTHLY.

Ichat consumes over 100% CPU in video chat mode.

I just updated my MBP (mid 2009) with new Snow Leopard. Ever since then, some of applications hangs, especially ichat, Mail, iphoto, safari.
Is it normal that iChat consumes over 100% CPU in video chat mode? Does everyone have the same problem?

Hello all. Ralph, I really appreciate all of your help on these iChat threads. I too am having the same issues with CPU overload on both of my Macbook Pro 2.16 GHz machines. I believe I may have traced the problem to older, non-Core 2 Duo chip computers such as mine. I have an iChat crazy family - lots of us spread across the country. The ones who have newer machines with a Core 2 Duo do not have this problem. They have super crisp, normal CPU usage (never exceeding 80%) chats. Sadly, this is not the case when I try with either of my Macbook Pro's running the older chips.
To clarify, I have also taken all of the steps mentioned here and in other threads to try to address the problem. I have reinstalled Snow Leopard, adjusted the maximum bandwith to as low as 200 kbps, tested my download, upload speeds, etc. Nothing seems to work. Ichat it essentially useless. I wish I had an answer for this issue. I assume Apple will address this in the next OS update.

5500 Sports Mode with GPS

I'm using the sports mode on the 5500 with a bluetooth GPS and have concerns over the accuracy of the distances travelled. It regularly gives a figure 10% higher than that expected but I don't know whether the problem is with the phone or the GPS. I'm using the miniature GPSlim 240 supplied with the Navicore SAT NAV product but wondered if anyone else had similar experiances with other GPS products.

Strangely enough, i found the pedometer function to be quite accurate... but only on level ground. When hillwalking, it really doesn't take the gradient into consideration. (Especially not for the calorie burn part)

Capturing embedded video while also in the Video Express mode recording yourself.

How do you ensure quality audio when you're in the Video Express mode capturing yourself in video and then showing a slide in your powerpoint that has video which includes audio? When I do this the final product is poor. The audio in the embedded video in the presentation is terrible.

I checked the item properties, the clips from the Sony HDR-FX1 say 720x480. The clips from the canon camera are 19?0x1080. The footage on the Sony camera was shot in 1080i. Does this mean the footage from the sony needs to be recaptured? If so do you know what setting the easy setup should be set at? There is an Apple intermediate codec HD 1080(not sure exactly), would this be correct?
As a secondary question can you recommend what the sequence setting should be for these two cameras? I am working on a project that would use footage from both in the same sequence. On top of that

Whenever i take pictures in sport mode in poor lighting,my pictures come out very very dark!Ive tried messing around with Flash,ISO,Contrast,White Balance,Exp.Compensation and still no change!When i take pictures from up close with flash,they come out some what decent!Any tips or anything??

IPad 4 lightning to vga adapter, works but gets stuck in video out mode. I can't get it to switch back to mirroring without restarting it

I have an iPad 4 with an Apple lightning to vga adapter. (A1439)
It connects fine to my HDTV and projector for doing presentations and video etc.
But if I do show any video on it, e.g. full screen a video from within Chrome, Safari, the apps for Youtube etc.
or if I do a presentation using Keynote, it locks into working as an extended second screen.
It shows the controls for the video on the iPad and the video on the external screen, which is what I would expect. But then if I exit the video or complete the presentation, the external screen continues to show the last frame of the video or presentation. Even if I close the app.
I can't get back to using it in mirroring mode without shutting it down and restarting.
Surely I am just missing something.
I've tried force closing the apps that I use, switching between them, starting up new ones etc.
But no luck.
There doesn't seem to be a setting anywhere that I can change.
Any suggestions?

The same thing happened to me. After the big update, I also experienced exactly what you described. I ended up restoring the ipad a number of times.
The first few times, I restored from a back-up. The last few times I have restored the ipad as new. It would work the next few times I turned the machine on, and around the third time, it would lapse back into the recovery mode, with
the image of the serial cord connecting to an i-tunes logo on its desktop. This morning, I restored the ipad as new, but only allowed the apps manufactured by Apple to be synced back onto the ipad. I have powered it back on about three times, and so far, so good. I am waiting to see what happens the next few times I turn the machine on.
I had a very helpful senior Apple express advisor help me on Sunday to do the restore as a new ipad procedure. He said that if that did not work, the next step was having it serviced. He also mentioned that often the third party apps have problems due to getting corrupt and this often happens after a major update. That is why I thought i'd try and see what would happen if I only synced the Apple apps back onto the ipad.
It is not good though if I can't put third party applications on it without having the problem of lapsing into recovery mode, so I may have to get it serviced. I am wondering how many others have had this problem after the big update last week? Also, has anyone who was an early purchaser and got the flat-rate unlimited data plan subscription from AT&T, had to have their ipad replaced? Was there a problem with AT& T still allowing you to continue your special subscription plan?

How can I get video media .MOD into Premiere El. 9?

Videos from my Canon 7d camera and from my Canon ADCHD camcorder (both SD cards) are .MOD files. I open Premiere Elements 9 and click GET MEDIA and it won't recognize the files. It says it cannot open the videos because:
"your system does not have the required compression/decompression codec installed."
When I bought this software a service rep assured me that it would take .MOD files. Why weren't these codecs installed with the program? How can I get these videos to work with Premiere Elements 9?

First, I apologize - I meant .MOV files, not .MOD files. I did download the Quick Time update. Then other problems arose:
Per an e-mail from a forum member, I downloaded an update of QuickTime, which should let me open .MOV files.
Inserted an SD memory card from my Canon camcorder. I selected FLASH, ADCHD... Then GET MEDIA.
Thumbnails appeared labeled MOV001.MOD and ascending numerical order. Then Premiere stopped working and a message appeared:
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive\device\Harddisk1\DR1
So I must have picked the wrong device category?
I couldn't close the error message or the software so used the Task Manager to get out of it.
After a couple more tries I gave up.
Then I tried my DSLR Canon 7d CF memory card. Selected NEW FILE. Clicked on "edit settings" and chose DSLR > GET MEDIA. The downloader began. Up came another message.
Download failed because the files are TOO LARGE.
These are CR2 (RAW) PHOTOS. Do I have to change the format to .jpg or .psd in Photoshop Elements first?
Any suggestions?

Music Videos Random mode

The new iOS7 appears to have removed the ability to watch music videos on full screen through the Music app,
and the Video app will not allow videos to play in Random mode.
This has always been an issue with the iPads, but has now spread to include iPhone as well.
How do you watch music videos in Random mode?

Video files .mod or .moi from a JVC camera to imovie?

I have a JVC camera GZ-MG360BU from 2009. The video files ends with .mod or .moi and I can´t import the files into iMovie. Can not open the camera from iMovie either. Does the files needs to be converted or how shall I proceed? Any tips appreciated!

I had the same problem. My Casio EX-Z750 had the same problem when i importtem to iphoto and imove it would be a blank white screen but the audio work. I tried everything to make it work. I found this on the casio website that helped me sovled my problem. Now my AVI movies work and the picture is beautiful on the computer screen playing in imovie, iphoto, and quicktime.

One-Way Video (Presentation Mode) iChat Capability?

Does iChat allow for a one-way only video connection from my web camera to other iChat user even though they have a web camera? Some users are shy about video chatting, or I may want to be in a presentation only mode.

They may also want to turn Off the option in the View Menu that Read s "Show Video Status"
This has partial control over the camera.
It changes the Icons (If Show Audio is left ticked) to Audio Status icons.
They then cannot Start Videos from a one click on the green Audio icon. (They can still Right click a Buddy or use the Buddies menu).
Turning Off the Camera Enabled items does not hide the Video Status icon they see but setting the above as well can be a reminder the camera is Off.
