Sybase connection errors with SSDT

Hello All,
I need help.
I'm designing datamodels in SQL Server Data Tools but am having trouble connecting to my Sybase DB (or anything other than MSSQL). The Sybase client is installed and I'm able to connect and browse to the DB via Sybase Central. However, in SSDT, I get the
error message:
Failed to connect to the server. Reason: The 'ASEOLEDB' provider is not registered on the local machine.
What do I need to install/configure to make this work?
SSDT: Visual Studio 2010 Shell ver 10.0.40219.1 SP1 Rel
Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64bit
Sybase Central ver 6.0.0.4787, Sybase IQ ver 15.3.0.110506
Thanks,
Carter

Hi Carter,
Base on my research, the error "The 'XXXX' provider is not registered on the local machine." was caused by that Visual Studio can only recognize 32bit providers for OLEDB providers, however, for .NET providers, both 32bit and 64 bit providers can be
listed in VS. To avoid this issue, please install both 32bit and 64bit
Sybase OLEDB provider and then reference the provider using ASEOLEDB in SSDT.
Hope this helps.

  • OS X LION 10.8.2 connection error with AFP

Ok the issue is that i tried to access my external harddrive over AFP with OS X LION and got a error message like this one above. I couldn’t login with a registered user .
We had the same problem in a earlier update but somehow got around it follwing the terminal commands from: http://www.alexanderwilde.com/2011/04/os-x-lion-connection-error-with-afp-and-wo rkaround/
But now after the update its back to be broken again...
    Please help!
    Thanks

Exactly the same problem here for a satellite user working abroad.
10.8.2 - cannot connect to the server over AFP. I've run the commands in the link posted, no dice.
Users running 10.8.2 on the internal LAN have no issues however, just this one off-site user.

  • Connection error with Crystal Report XI, VB6 and Sybase ASE15

    Hello !
I have an error #4002 when I want to launch a report in VB6 with the ActiveX Crystal Report Viewer.
I use Sybase ASE 15 with an ODBC link and the reports run stored procedures.
This error seems to be an authentification error, but I don't know what parameters are missing or wrong...
    - My reports works well in the report designer.
    - The reports connected to a text file or an ADO recordset work in VB6.
    - The Verify Database works in design mode in VB6.
    - The problem is the same with tables, stored procedures, SQL and with or without parameters...
    - I tried to connect the report to a DataEnvironnment but I get the same error.
The problem appears when I use the Crystal Wizard to create a form automatically AND when I create objects directly in code like :
        Dim crapp As CRAXDRT.Application
        Dim oReport As CRAXDRT.Report
        Set crapp = New CRAXDRT.Application
        Set oReport = crapp.OpenReport("C:\myreport.rpt")
        CRViewer.ReportSource = oReport
        CRViewer.viewReport
    Please help !

    Hello,
I don't see any database logon code in what you posted.  You need to log onto the database at runtime since Crystal Reports will never store passwords.
You can download and review the [Connection Properties|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00635998-751e-2b10-9cba-f50ee1e4ef81] document for more information on how to log onto your database at runtime.  This document was written for CR9, but it's the same for CR10, CR XI (v11.0), and CR XI R2 (v11.5).
    I hope this helps.

  • Sybase Connection Error - cannot establish database connection

BO Data Services Tool -> Creation of new Data Store -> Sybase ASE
When I tried to create a sybase datastore(New connection), I've got this error message. But I am able to connect to sybase database with client application with same connection parameter. I appreciate if someone come across same issue.

I tried to create repositories for sybase, it failed.  But it succeeded when created datastore.  The procedures's as follow:
    1. Create ODBC for this sybase connection, and it should display "Connection successful" when you click "Test connection".
(you need to specify several parameters like user id & password, server, database name and file, etc.)
    2. Create datastore by using ODBC connection.

  • Connection Error with iPod mini to Bose Home Theater System

When connecting my iPod mini to my Bose Home Theater system, it recognizes that iPod has been connected, but after the "Acquiring Signal" process, it gives me an "iPod connection error. Please re-insert iPod into docking station." I tried several times, but the result is the same.
My iPod mini has been updated with the latest software, and I did a system restore to return everything to factory defaults, but still no luck.
    Any suggestions.

Hi. What you need to do is Launch DVD Player. Go to Preferences. Select Disc Setup tab. In Audio Output under Audio in the second part of the menu, select Digital Out-Built-in-Output. Then click OK. See if this works, 'cause mine does.

  • IPhone 3G 2.1 connection error with iTunes 8 on Windows Vista Enterprise

I was previously able to connect my iphone with my work computer (Windows Vista Enterprise) and it would recognize my phone. However, since I updated my iphone to version 2.1, it will not recognize the phone and gives me the following error message:
"iTunes could not connect to the iphone because an unknown error occured (0xE8000024)."
I am able to connect my phone with version 2.1 to my home computer running Windows XP SP2.
Any idea what may be causing the connection error in Windows Vista?

    Hey TranceCadet,
This could be caused by a USB connection issue.
Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to a high speed USB port on the PC and not plugged into a hub, monitor, or keyboard. Disconnect any other USB devices, other than the keyboard and mouse.
This article has some general USB troubleshooting tips: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286
You may also want to disable or reconfigure any security software. This article will walk you through putting the PC in a selective startup mode, which will bypass most application conflicts.

  • After updating to Firefox 33.0.3 why am I getting Untrusted Connection Errors with Yahoo and Amazon?

I have updated to Firefox 33.0.3 and now I am getting untrusted connection errors when trying to go to Yahoo.com and Amazon.com this happens with both http and https. My time is in sync. I tried deleting the cert8.db file.
I have looked at other solutions and they have not worked. These sites were working fine on the previous version for me but now with this new update they are not working. Why hasn't Mozilla fixed this already?

Yes I have tried the steps above. For example, When I try to get to Yahoo web site, I get this:
    This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.yahoo.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
    What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
www.yahoo.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided. (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)
I do not have the option to do an exception because I can only click on the Technical Details and the Get me Out of Here button.
As I've said in my previous post, I have deleted the cert8.db file, my clock is in sync, and I have tried to do the other solutions but they have not worked.

    Hi,
Did you receive the error with "Create User" Activity from the Microsoft Active Directory Integration Pack (IP) for System Center 2012 - Orchestrator? Are Activities from this IP like "Get User" working? -> A vaild "Container
Distinguished Name" must be specified, either in the "Create User" Activity or a default in the connection settings of the Active Directory IP.
Perhaps you can share how the Activity and the connection is configured. It will help to help you.

  • Installation and Connection Error with Desktop Manager and Curve 3G

I just installed Desktop Manager 6.01 and then tried connecting my Curve 3G to the system using the accompanying USB cable.. But there was a connection error.. so i did a bit searching on the net and went to (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB00125)  which gave me a solution to install m\y driver.. But when i try to manually install my driver, it shows an error   "THE SERVICE CANNOT BE STARTED, EITHER BECAUSE IT IS DISABLED OR IT HAS NO ENABLED DEVICES ASSOCIATED WITH IT"  now the USB is working because my phone is being recognised by the laptop and moreover in the device manager od my Vista, Blackberry is being shown... I cn see in drivers that Drivers have been installed but the drive Information such as Version, date is not available and the driver is unsigned...
Can someone tell me what exactly might the problem?? any reply will be appreciated..

I encountered the same issue, Not sure if you'll have the same results, but all i did was enable windows updates, and did an automatic driver update from the web (as in from windows updates) and after a reboot, all was back to normal.

    Hi,
can you elaborate a bit more on this: +"I try pushing in an external task flow call as a dialog then I get weird database connection errors."+
There is a known issue with passivation when a database bound application calls an unbound task flow (or vice versa - don't have the bug report open). This reported bug got fixed for JDeveloper 11g. However, if your application does not use ADF BC at all (just the mockup) then this might be something different. Dependent on the pain it causes on your side you can send me a reproducible testcase (which is indication low pain on your side) or contact customer support (if this hinders you from proceeding with your task). My mail address is in my OTN profile. Make sure the attachement is in a ZIP where you rename ".zip" to ".unzip". I would then try and run it against 11.1.14 and if it still reproduces file a bug

  • Handling of Connection error with database

hi, my application is using oracle 9i as database (connection via jdbc).
I understand that we can capture the exact connection errors to database, in event that the database is down or not available. This will allow a more meaningful errors message to be thrown, like "Database is not available" when the user try to login to the system. Is that a particular sql exception that i can catch for such connection errors? or if there is not, what is the best practise for handlng such situation?

Yes, java.sql.SQLException is designed for that. It has two methods, getSQLState and getErrorCode, that will help you get the state of the RDBMS if something goes wrong. - MOD

It took 4 tries to backup the Q10 because I kept getting a connection error.  I am also getting a connection error every time I try to sync music from iTunes to the Q10.

    Hey cds9,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Can you provide the full connection error message?  Also are you using a PC or Mac?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.
