Symantec says trojan gone, but I'm still seeing it
My computer became infected with the fakeavalert trojan. While relatively harmless, this is a really annoying trojan causing constant pop-ups that look like Windows updates/warning. I ran a Symantec full-system scan and the virus was found and (supposedly) deleted. However, after rebooting my computer this morning, the pop ups are still coming. I reran the symantec scan and an additional scan downloaded from the internet. Neither scan found the trojan again this morning. I have also checked the registry and none of the lines inserted by the trojan (gotten from a "how to remove" site) are present:

So, while it appears my computer is virus-free, I'm still seeing the effects. Anyone know how I can get rid of these pop-ups?
I'm using MS Vista, on a Toishiba Satellite E105-S1402 laptop.

back in the days of leopard, the dashboard widgets would come to the foreground but you could still see what you were working on. Now I've updated to mountain lion and the work is no longer visible when I activate dashboard. Can I change that back?
Go to system preferences, mission control, and unselect "Show Dashboard as a Space". While you're there, you may want to make dashboard set to a hot corner "Hot Corners" button at the bottom.

Thank you for your question. It sounds like you are unable to see either of your devices in the sidebar of iTunes after a recent update. A number of issues could cause this type of behaviour, and would recommend starting with the troubleshooting from the article named:

Music is gone but info is still in itunes
Itunes shows all the artist and albums but the music has disapeared.
It says the files are in the trash. I don't see them there.
I do use time machine but as far back as I can go the music>itunes music>artist
are all the same. The actual audio files are gone. It was all there before now it's just

I have a 6th gen ipod nano. I wanted to sync it to get some new music onto it, but my computer won't recognize it. I've tried restarting it and resetting it numerous times, both plugged into the computer and not. I've confirmed that both the Apple Mobile Device service and iPod services are running. I've updated my itunes, I've updated my virus software (I highly doubt that is the problem, it's the same software I've always used and my iPod worked fine before) and I've tried any multitude of ******** "fixes" you can find in this forum or anywhere else on the web.
The ipod does charge when I plug it in, and I've tried 2 of my roommate's cords, so that isn't it either. My USB drivers are also up to date and work just find with anything else, including my printer, my cellphone, etc.
so... anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not sure if it charged when I hooked it up to my roommate's computer, but it definately didn't register either. If I put it on the dock it plays so the port is fine, but that still doesn't help me sync it to my computer. -
Video filename wont delete. Vid is gone but name is still there.
this problem has been going on since i bought this ipod. its a 2nd generation 16gb. when i delete a video from the screen on the ipod, the filename comes back after i plug my ipod into the computer.
example, yesterday i copied about 150 small video's, trailers, podcasts, etc. i watched most of them & then plugged in my ipod to charge it. when i went to watch more of them all 150 filenames were back but the video is gone. its annoying because i have to delete them all again and i dont remember which ones i watched and which ones arent watched. if i completely turn off the ipod, sometimes it wont copy the filenames back but that is the only semi-fix that i could find. anyone else see this issue? like i said, this has been going on basically since i bought it and ive done several restores since then so im sure its not software.

3.1.3 - 7e18I think it really depends on how you are managing these in iTunes. Adding non-music media to play lists will result in this type of behavior. Adding these one of the normal folders in iTunes (Movies or TV Shows) should give you more predictable behavior.
I wouldn't bother deleting anything on the touch as you can get this phantom delete effect. Let iTunes and syncing take care of managing things. -
Plugin-container is gone, but my computer still has seizures . . .
The other day, my computer went from running Netflix just fine to making it unwatchable. I checked the task manager, which showed plugin-container as the culprit, eating up about 90% of the cpu usage. After following the instructions I found online (going into about:config, and reverting to version 3.5.18), the task manager says that firefox itself is eating up 90%. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Lockdown CF10 says update JVM, but admin info still shows old version: how do I sync it?
The lockdown guide for CF10 says to update JVM. After doing that on the machine, the CF administrator information still shows the older CF10 installation version. How do I sync the machine installation with CF10? Do I need a second installation in the ColdFusion10/jre folder?
First, you will need to get ColdFusion pointing back to the original JVM. Open the jvm.config file found at C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin using a text editor. Near the top of the file, look for the line that starts with "java.home=". Change the path to "C:\\ColdFusion10\\jre" (don't use quotation marks around the path). Save and close the file. Now try starting ColdFusion.
Second, you can't use the Java JRE that comes in the standard Java consumer download. You need to download the Java SE Development Kit (JDK), which contains the JRE and some server components that ColdFusion needs. You can get the JDK here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7-downloads-1880260.html. Download and install the appropriate JDK for your operating system. You should now have both a "jre7" and a "jdk1.7.0_XX" folder inside of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java". Now follow Peter's suggestion on updating the JVM setting in CF Administrator.
