Symbian 3 Anna update RTSP playback problem

Hi,
for some reason I can no longer view rtsp feeds using my Nokia N8 mobile phone. I'm not sure if the latest anna update has to do with this.
I also tried my friends C7 but same problem, the videoplayer just displays the loading animation and no rtsp streaming is played.
Can someone on this forum try the mobile youtube videos with an anna device and see if you can get the video to playback. Go here and click on any video to see if the video is played back or not:

  • IPad 5.0.1 update video playback problems

HI is anyone else having playback problems with videos on IPad 1 after 5.0.1 update???
As in the playback not atcually working at all???

See if any of the following Videos 'fixes' work.
Try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then try closing the Videos app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Videos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Videos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option if the two above don't work is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Update on playback problems with AIR 3.5 on desktop

Adobe has received reports that desktop AIR 3.5 users of BBC iPlayer and Digital Theatre Desktop Player are no longer able to play or download video after upgrading from AIR 3.4 or earlier.  Specifically, the user will attempt to play the video and will get a black video window or will fail to successfully download videos.  Adobe is working on a permanent resolution for the issue in AIR 3.5.  In parallel, Adobe is working closely with the BBC and Digital Theatre to offer support and investigate interim resolutions.  We will publish an update as soon as we have released the fix.
In the meantime, the work-around for affected users is to migrate back to AIR 3.4.  The following link provides instructions for determining the version of AIR currently installed on your machine.  If you believe you may be experiencing a video playback problem caused by migrating to AIR 3.5, your video service should be able to tell you whether they believe going back to AIR 3.4 or earlier will resolve the problem.  If instructed to do so, the following steps here can help you uninstall your current version and locate and install a specific AIR version for installation on your Windows or Mac PC.
Please feel free to report your issue or reproducible steps here and we will alert you once a fix has been put in place.  We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support.

Please note that I have followed the BBC's instructions to uninstall Air v3.5 and iPlayer Desktop and then install Air v3.4 and iPlayer Desktop, but contrary to what they and you say, this has made no difference - iPlayer still can't download programmes to iPlayer Desktop and it still can't find the programmes I had previously downloaded. I surmise that maybe uninstalling wasn't enough and that some fault remains that still prevents the programme from working. I am not an IT expert, so I would need more comprehensive instructions to fix this.
You may like to note that I downloaded Air v3.5 several days before iPlayer Desktop failed, and I am pretty sure that I used iPlayer Desktop in between times. After it failed, it was very reluctant to even open, let alone do anything when, after repeated instructions, it finally did open.
You may also like to note that I began to experience a ridiculous amount of buffering on radio playback straight from the BBC website before and after iPlayer Desktop failed. I don't think it can have been a broadband issue, as I could stream both TV and radio live and I could stream TV playback with no problem. Since reverting to Air v3.4, I have had no buffering. I doubt whether this is a coincidence.
I have an Acer 5745PG with Windows 7, Intel Core i3-350M, NVIDIA GeForce 310M and I use Firefox.

  • Symbian Anna update 1/2 failed to install

The story so far. I did the first round Anna update (around 27 mb i think) OTA cos my Ovi Suite never able to update firmware on my n8 since trying to update it to PR 1.2, and I did try reinstalling, redownload, reboot PC, reg clean, ccleaner to fix the Suite but it still do not update my firmware at all. But that's another story.
So I installed the 1st round, n8 rebooted to white screen, rebooted into homesceen with Midnight theme. SW update then shows 4 more items: Anna update 1/2, 2/2, Store and Social. The 1/2 was showing around 20++ mb. So I selected all 4 and update. Halfway through the installing process of 1/2 update (note the download part of 1/2 was very fast), I did plug in the power pin, cos the installation process was damn slow for 1/2. I did not notice wheher it finised installing cos later i checked it was already on 2/2 (downloaded and installing). It then went to the last two items and installed ok.
Rebooted device, but SW update still showed Anna update 1/2 available (the only one left) and the download size is now 7166 kb. I proceed to update it, it failes with error but no error codes or any message what was the error about. I tried again and again, with fresh reboots, still failes. What gives?
Even more, split screen not here. I did the uninstalling Swype, activating qwerty mode in portrait, still no split screen.  I do not have any Betalabs apps.
My Quickoffice & Reader is not here anymore (the app manager not showing them too). Heck I bought the full ver of Quickoffice 6 last time. Wat a waste of my money now that ver 7 is out!!
Anyone knows how to delete the "dowloaded cache" of SW updates? I want to force SW update to redownload this 1/2 item to try fix this issue.
Thanks for listening and please help. Cheers!!

I got the same problem since this morning on both my N8 & just found out solution on a previous update error similar to this & completed the update on one of the N8. Re-trying on another one.
Working Solution for failed update was found on Flashism's website quoted & "touched up" per below:
Big thanks to user “Unick” on Nokia Support Forums, who posted a working solution to the problem, and there are couple of successful installs reported from the solution.
I just deleted folder E:\Private\20019119\. After that I ran SW update on the phone & it restarted download of Symbian Anna Update 1/2 & 2/2 as well as Social, they  finished updates successfully.
To delete the mentioned folder, follow these simple steps:
    • Connect your Nokia N8/C7 in Mass Storage mode to PC via USB cable
    • Locate and delete folder named “20019119″ under \Private folder of Mass Storage
    • Unplug the device from PC, and retry again. It should work.
However, I still got no popup split keyboard after completing the updates & restarted the phone.

  • C7 symbian anna update questions

So there seems to be a lot of problems with the anna-update and lots of bugs. i sit worth the risk?
is it possible to downgrade again?
and will all my apps still be in place and function?
will I have to redo all my settings and personalisations? like all the folders and files. all saved games etc etc...
I have the c7-00 with latest symbian ^3 now and im pretty pleased with it.
    so.. worth it?

Exactly! A software update is always great. The main problems caused are due to certain apps that are installed in your phone which conflict with the new features.Best way to update is to hard reset your phone and then update. And also always install those apps that are compatible with your phone. Some apps are not compatible with your phone, but they run as normal and like to cause problems in the long run or when you update your software.

We have been patient and waited for ANNA update . It happens on three N8 same problem.
Can somebody help us with this problem?
    Thank You in advance

  • Symbian Anna update 1/2 not available

    Hi,
I have just updated my phone (N8 Hungarian T-Mobile version) to Symbian Anna but the update package 1/2 is not available. Could anyone help? Thanks.
    Some details
First I tried to update many times using Ovi Suite but it failed during the backup phase (service not available message) - finally I updated using Nokia Software Updater and the update to Anna was completed successfully.
I went to check the additional update packages but only Update package 2/2, Ovi Store update and Social update were available. All installed successfully. Update package 1/2 was missing from the list of available updates!
As expected, without update package 1/2 the PDF Reader and QuickOffice are not available.
I checked many times yet again but 1/2 still not available. Is there a way I can install update package 1/2?

Symbian Anna update package 1/2 appeared today as an available update and installed successfully. This issue is solved. Thanks.

  • Anna update Problems - If anyone cares

    Hi
I am facing issues with Anna update on my C7
    1. Split screen does not work for browser, SMS - unless I uninstall Conversation server and SWPE
    2. Once conversation server is removed, the SMS notification no longer works i.e. I cannot open messages from the home screen
    3. It still does not connect to the laptop via USB
    Thanks
    Anup

Mine is doing the exact same thing. Completely frozen while trying to reload firmware. You boot the thing up and it just sits there with the creai've logo. I have not tried the steps outlined exactly above yet but I am going to give them a shot. Heck I have nothing else to lose. At this point it is already 200 bucks down the drain. Hmm maybe I will go with the Zune form microsoft.

  • C7 sync doesn't work after Anna update

I normally sync the agenda between outlook 2003 and C7 with Ovi-suite.
After update to symbian Anna it doesn't work.
Strange is that Ovi suite gives the number of events that did not sync.
So he can recognize them, but can't sync.
    Any solutions?
    Thanks!

I have the same problem in C6-01 after Anna Update, there are another two posts around here with other people with the same issue, an, believe it or not, no answer from Nokia
My problem also affects Ovi Maps favourites. I just could update them once since Anna Update, and now that is failed too

We are aware of the issue and investigation is ongoing.
We have received lot of feedback, but It seems also that all cases are not similar. That's why I request to contact to Nokia Support.
One of the first things we should be looking at with MfE issue is the Admin log files which are located under c:\MailForExchange folder. These logs should help us identify the issues.  Please list the settings along with an attachment of those admin log files. Please send them to Nokia Support (Contact Us from this page).
In Symbian Anna, when there is a policy which is not supported, Exchange server may not allow the sync based on one of the server settings. For example the roaming policy may be the one causing the failure, Policy SyncWhileRoaming =1 on the admin log. This will be changed on next update.
However this can happen due to any unsupported policy.
You can identify the problem on the policy and if necessary, then the administrator can toggle it, or set the tick box Allow non provisionable devices on the Exchange server. Otherwise, the device can’t sync.
To make sure you can open the admin logs and compare them to this table:
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy AllowTextMessaging = 1
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy SyncWhileRoaming = 0
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy AllowHtmlEmail = 1
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy RequireSignedSMIMEMessages = 0
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy RequireEncryptedSMIMEMessages = 0
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy RequireSignedSMIMEAlgorithm = 0
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy RequireEncryptionSMIMEAlgorithm = 0
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy AllowUnsignedApplications = 1
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy AllowUnsignedInstallationPackages = 1
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy AllowInternetSharing = 1
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy AllowPOPIMAPEmail = 1
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy AllowConsumerEmail = 1
    10/07/2011 17:17:32 Policy AllowBrowser = 1
If any of these 0's or 1's is different than above, you may not sync.
The MFE Client writes the following line to admin log when there is a policy that can’t be enforced: Warning:  Some unsupported server policies were found -- syncing may fail.

  • Paradoxical Anna Update + Language support for C7 ...

Hello everyone. Please read my description of my problem as currently there is no solution to this unique problem that I have.
I bought my C7 in Australia in July. I sent it to my dealer to install Chinese language, I am not 100% sure what he did but it most likely seem like he flashed the phone firmware so the languages are now English and Chinese Simplified.
Now I've heard about Anna and officials from Nokia said it will be out by late Sept, currently it is mid Oct and I still do not see the update. However, when I go to SW Update on my phone, there is 1 single update, with software version 24. something. There is only this one. On my computer, namely Nokia Ovi Suite (the newest version) as well as Nokia Software Updater, they show no updates. The NSU on my PC show there is nothing to update, but the Ovi Suite say there is an error in my firewall or virus protection that does not allow it to connect to internet. This is ridiculous, I could check the newest apps on the dashboard on Ovi, and I turned off all protection on my computer too. Still I get this message.
How does these two problems come together? I firstly would like to know why I cannot see the Anna update, and only could see 1 update on my phone, where as it should be 3. Secondly, if the problem 1 is solved and I have Anna, there is a chance that the Chinese support will be gone. So can anyone confirm whether the language will be restored to English only or still keep Chinese? As this phone is flashed into Chinese firmware it should not lose its Chinese support, can anyone confirm this?
    Many thanks
    Nokia C7-00 Symbian Belle RM-675

    Hi!
Can you give more details, especially your productcode? (You can find it by tapping *#0000# and it starts with 05**.)
The question if you lose your Chinese language support depends on what exactly the dealer did with your phone, ie. which tools he used to flash it. So, I can't unfortunately this one without having the exact information. If he didn't fully change the productcode (and your phone is still on a supposedly Australian productcode), the update will set your phone back to the state in which it was when it left the factory. Meaning, your language pack will be back to default - without any Chinese characters.

  • Bluetooth pairing not working since Anna update

    Hi there,
after updating my N8 to the [awesome] Anna my bluetooth connection is not working properly anymore.
    - I cannot pair the phone from PC Suite -> phone; PC Suite respondes after timeout that the phone cannot be authorized. From the phone bluetooth icon I see that there is no connection attempt between PC and phone (although the phone is found when searching for bluetooth devices)
    - I can connect from phone to PC direction -> If I do so, I always have to authorize the pairing. For every new sync between PC and phone I have to authorize my PC on the N8 which is very annoying.
I've tried to pair my N8 on another PC and it shows the same behaviour.
    Any suggestions?

Tried this but the issue is that the PC can't authorize the phone. The PC finds the phone as bluetooth device but the pairing results in a timeout because the phone does not respond.
    Any other clues?
