Symbian belle themes

Hi. Can we create our own themes. If yes which software should i use. It should be easy to use

It's been possible for years using free software that Nokia provides on their developer forum. Now that symbian is essentially dead it may no longer be available.
If they are you can find them and discuss them on this link: http://developer.nokia.com
Last I heard the program was called carbide.ui but that may have changed.

  • Disappointed with Symbian Belle! Pros vs Cons

I accept that I'm probably in the minority here, as a lot of you seem to be banging on about how great Belle is, but I personally dislike it! In fact, I would go as far as saying I HATE Symbian Belle, after coming from Symbian Anna!
First of all, I'd like to point out that I do appreciate the good points of Belle. I like the fact that they finally sorted out a few issues which plagued earlier Symbian^3 versions. However, some of the major issues seem to have been left unchecked, whilst I feel other aspects have been changed unnecessarily.
After 15 months of owning a Nokia N8, I kind of expected all of the bugs to have been worked out by now, but it seems that 15 months later we are still complaining about many of the issues which we complained about on day one!
I could also live with some of the minor annoyances I have found with Belle, but some are just so frustrating that I often wonder why the hell they decided to change it, especially when it didn't need to be changed in the first place! The clock and the music player homescreen widget are two such features I feel didn't need to be altered, yet they did so anyway just for the sake of it...
After just 24 hours of updating to Belle, I've decided that if I can't find a way back to Anna (I hear that a Nokia service centre can perform the downgrade), then I'm getting rid of my N8. As much as I love my N8 to bits, I cannot live with it with an interface that I am unhappy with, especially when Anna felt like second nature to me! My beloved handset has been altered, and this is no longer the phone I sent the last 15 months using
Here's what I like about Belle:
    * Extra homescreens - For me, three was always plenty, but I can see why other people would prefer to have more. However, it would be nice to have three as the default, rather than four, as I am left with an unused screen which is unnecessary for my use
    * The ability to rearrange homescreen widgets more freely - I like this feature, and it's something I initially thought was going to be a feature of Symbian^3 when the N8 was first released. Being able to finally place shortcuts anywhere on the screen is very useful, and more intuitive than having to have rows of four
    * The dropdown menu - This is a nice touch, and puts all of the most important on / off features in one place (such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth etc). However, I wish that this was a one-touch operation, rather than a touch & flick gesture
    * Speed - General transitions and navigation are so much more faster now! As it should have been to begin with...
Anything else which I like (like the faster browser and vertical QWERTY keyboard) are throwbacks from Anna, so I won't mention them here as they don't relate directly to Belle
Here's a list of the things I dislike about Belle:
    * Redesigned homescreen widgets - Was there really any need to redesign the primary homescreen widgets, such as the clock / calendar / profile menu group, and music player? On Anna, these were nice neat little widgets which occupied two rows between them - Now the music player widget takes up half the screen, and the clock / calendar / profile group has been disbanded into separate widgets which all take up extra space! Why was this necessary?
    * Redesigned digital clock - I don't like the new-look digital clock on the homescreen, and I especially don't like the new screensaver digital clock! At least give us a choice of Anna / Belle designs, so we can choose which one we prefer! I much prefer the original screensaver clock design, and I would rather have the original clock / calendar / profile menu group back in place of separate widgets for each!
    * The new text messaging interface - More specifically, the text messaging menu. For some reason, Nokia have assumed that everybody texts using the Conversations feature, and has relegated everything else to a secondary menu option to show the various text message folders. To me this is a big no-no! I like to be organised, but I don't want to keep having to switch to folder view whenever I want to manage my texts, especially when this used to be the default view when I hit the text messaging button!
    * New navigation icons and icon locations - Using Belle has become a cryptic guessing game! Navigation icons seem to have been moved around, and the icons changed. More time is spent deciphering what the icons are and what they do, rather than being quick and easy. For a Symbian newcomer, I'm sure they'll pick it up easily, but for a Symbian veteran coming from Symbian^3 / Anna to Belle, they just cause confusion! I'm scared to touch a new icon in case it does something undesired!
    * Lack of default application folders - I know, I know, there's the ability to create folders, but who the hell decided that removing default application folders was a good idea in the first place? All of my nicely organised applications have been scattered into one main group! Again, for what logistical reason?
    * Headphones no longer work - Like many people, I prefer to use my own choice of headphones, rather than those basic ones that come bundled with the N8. However, after updating to Belle, I find that my headphones no longer work! The sound is not diverted to the 3.5mm jack, and music just plays through the device speaker rather than the headphones which are plugged in. I tried them out on other devices, and they work fine, and they worked fine before I updated to Belle, so this is obviousy an issue which needs to be addressed
    * Homescreen wallpaper pictures obscured by navigation bar - Previously, the pictures I use as my homescreen wallpapers fit nicely between the navigation bar along the bottom, and the info bar along the top. With Belle this is no longer the case, where the picture is extended, and these two bars obscure the image below (the navigation bar happens to be semi-transparent, but that's beside the point)
    * Application screen button right above the physical button - I honestly don't see the point in having a button in the bottom left corner which does the exact same thing as the physical button on the N8 which is situated directly below it.
    * Profile ordering - On previous Symbian handsets, and also previously with Symbian^3 / Anna, it was possible to order your profiles however you wanted. There was also more than four default profiles. However, with Belle it seems that if you rename any of those first four, they retain their position, regardless of alphabetisation. For example, if you created a fifth profile called "Silent (Office)", it would appear in fifth place, rather than directly beneath "Silent" as you would expect
    * Renaming the default "Silent" profile conflicts with the dropdown menu function - If you rename the default "Silent" profile to something else (Ie, "Loud"), and also change the profile settings (such as turning the volume right up), then this renders the silence feature in the dropdown menu redundant! You can still select the "Silent" function from the dropdown menu, but it will activate / deactivate whatever profile occupies that second slot, regardless of whether you have it set as silent or something else
    * The camera interface - Once again, an example of moving icons when they didn't need to be moved! I used to find that the location of the various camera settings was perfect with Anna, but now they're all along the bottom. Why did they need to be moved? This is perhaps just nitpicking, and doesn't really bother me as much as other changes, but I see no reason why some things need to be changed for the sake of changing things!
Things that needed to be fixed, and still haven't:
    * Calculator - In this day and age a smartphone should have an advanced calculator, similar to many hi-end scientific calculators. At the very least, a basic calculator shoud have a "clear screen" button! We shouldn't have to exit the application and relaunch it in order to do a new calculation!
    * The music player - Artists and Albums should be separate. End of! If youre choosing a new ringtone, you can browse by either Song, Artist, or Album, so why isn't this the same for the music player? This has annoyed me ever since I first got my N8, but seems like something Nokia are reluctant to fix, despite complaints from the majority of users. Also, why is there still no user-definable equaliser?

GeminiPhoenix, you make plenty of valid points, but I think you need to try to give Belle a chance and then you might start noticing small things like the ability to simply delete any unwanted homescreens, and then it might begin to grow on you. I can understand your frustration at what you feel have been unnecessary changes (to Belle itself) but... well, I guess it must have been a MAJORLY serious age-old problem that forced you to risk the upgrade.
Your complaints about the Belle widgets are all justified and hopefully Nokia are listening and will do something about them in due course.
Even though I'd like more widgets, and more implementations of various settings into widgets, I find Belle to be be intuitive enough to make it an enjoyable experience - no less than Anna anyway.
I agree, Nokia should give the option to revert back to previous operating systems.
If I loved Anna so much, I wouldn't have cared less for latest and fastest software for my device. It would have taken a very serious problem to make me take the risk of changing it.
I admit I may have jumped the gun on one or two issues, and I have since discovered how to delete unwanted homescreens. However, this just proves that the option is well hidden away in a very specific place, where I would have probably not looked had someone not directed me to it. Therefore I formerly retract that issue from my list, but I will add that I feel such options should be more visible, especially as we don't have a user manual to flick through and we're expected to just figure this stuff out on our own!
I have also discovered that the Wi-Fi needs to be prioritised in order to automatically connect when in range of my home network. Again, this is not made clear, and the required settings are hidden away in an obscure folder where most normal people wouldn't think to look... I also retract this from my list
As for the "age-old problem" - This thread should answer everything:
    /t5/Messaging-Email-Browsing-and/Urgent-help-required-N8-refuses-to-send-text-messages-after-6/td-p/...
It was indeed a serious problem, and the only way to fix it was to update to the newest software version. No doubt the problem will occur again in a few months time, and I'll have to do the same again...
However, where I initially aimed to fix one problem, Belle has posed several new ones, such as the headphones no longer working, and the text messaging interface being rearranged based on the assumption that everyone texts using the Conversations feature. Two things I use every single day, and pretty much everywhere I go.
I am also glad that you support my complaints about the widgets, so thank you. I know they're only minor issues, but they're the most used, and I fail to understand why they decided to change certain ones. The whole widget system overhaul is great, but it's ruined by the larger widgets which formerly used to be much more compact. For example, the music player and eMail widgets are the largest and most waste of space, whereas the clock / calendar / profile cluster was perfect, so why separate them so that they take up twice as much space on the homescreen?
I too hope they're paying attention, and I have openly shared my thoughts with the Nokia team via Twitter. I would suggest everyone else does the same if they feel the same way
I liked Anna. Whlist I did miss the old PR 1.2 icons, and disliked the coloured blobs, I could live with it. I thought Belle would be more of the same, with just a few tweaks here and there to things that needed fixing, but it seems like something entirely different. At the very least, I expected certain things to stay the same, with the improvements being under-the-hood so to speak
As I have said before, certain aspects didn't need touching. They were perfectly fine as they were. Belle would function just as well if they had've left the widgets as they were. I appreciate that they've done a lot of work making certain aspects run faster, but some things weren't broken, so why try to fix them? Even more frustrating is the fact that other issues have yet again been ignored, such as the terrible music player interface, which almost everybody wants changing back to something similar to the S60 v5.0 era

  • All about Symbian Belle Problems.

    Hi,
Here are my full list of problems, suggestion i would like to  keep infront of you.
I sent the problems via ''CONTACT US'' and to some Nokia employee via PM but they just can't....
No problem is solved in software update.
Of Course that's really tough though
    Here is the list,
Just copied from the sent items.
Please neglect if something is repeated.
    1.
1.Screen starts blinking when a new meassage arrives!
Screen starts blinking ( ON/OFF) continuosly sometimes after unlocking keypad when phone shows new message arrived. Screen blinks at the rate of  8-10 times per second. We need to press end key to stop it.
    2. Brightness:
In indoors or in low light conditions after Light time-out the screen brightness should be reduced, but brightness increases!!?
When we touch the screen brightness reduces back to normal. This repeats again and again. That is why i have to increased light timout to 60 seconds to avoid disturbance to eyes.
Sometimes light sensor doesnot work at all outdoors while using maps.
    3.Slowdown of phone.
Phone slows during and after installing or removal of sis packages.
I have lot of apps installed from Nokia Store.
    4. Menu scrolling and appearance of icons in menu after installation:
When we have more games and apps installed , the menu won't scroll smooth. It strucks in between and jumps to last item.
    5. Appearance of icons in menu after installing apps games takes half a minute! Ofcourse i have many apps and games installed.
    6.
Side unlock key vibrations. Unlock key vibrations sometime won't vibrate. We need to goto profile and reactivate the profile. Maybe this is third party app problem.
    7. Camera:
When shooting CRT TV, the screen is not stable. I can shoot without problem on my Nokia C3-00.
    8. Camera  hidden in background and runs continously:
Battery dries very fast sometimes, the day when i use camera, i use Best Taskman by Smartphoneware. You know what camera application will be still running  in background SOMETIMES though long pressing menu key shows no Open applications!!
So camera will be sometimes running hidden even after closing it.
    9. Touch screen answer key:
Touching answer key on screen won't work sometimes when there is a incoming call, apps, maps, or browsing.
Sometimes phone restarts when a call arrives at that time.
    10. Connecting phone in mass storage mode.
When i connect my phone to computer in mass storage mode, it is obvious that all apps games which are installed on mass and memory card becomes unavailable,
but wallpapers applied from mass and memeory card will not be re applied to homescreen back as wallpaers once mass storage mode is changed or even after removing cable connected to pc.
We need to apply them manually again or we need to apply wallpapers from internal memory!
    11.Widgets.
There is a problem with mail widget. We cannot scroll it continuously. When  we scroll it once it scrolls and while scrolling if we continue to scroll again it won't scroll but stops scrolling. So one scrolling attempt after another makes the scroll stop!!
These are some problems and bugs present on Symbian belle on NOKIA 701.
Please solve them and provide software update.
    Thank You.
    In Love With Nokia.
    2.
Here are some more bugs and problems of Symbian Belle-Nokia 701.
1.Widget arrangement in landscape mode gets changed on its own automatically when a widget in portrait mode successfully fits but it couldn't in landscape. We'll be not knowing what happens in landscape mode  widget arrangements!
It would be better to have auto arrangement of widgets when we move another widgets in the homescreen.
2.Brightness variation during video playback is bit annoying.
    3. Music files are not actually arranged according to album name, albums are again differentiated by contributing artists.
So to group the songs of an album, We have to delete all the contributing artists of all the songs of that album or change the contributing artists name to a common name.
4.I don't know what happens when i swipe the album art while playing a song using music player on 701.
When i swipe from left to right for the first song of an album, the song plays from the beginning or restarts. When i swipe from right to left it plays the next song, and when i again swipe from left to right it plays previous song. Well i just don't use swiping on album. Because it is confusing.
5.When i connect my 701 in Ovi suite mode and browse files using Computer-Portable devices-Nokia 701-Mass Memory-Music folder and while the music player is playing music, it starts showing 'media transfer in progress' and it won't go even after closing the folder in the computer.
'Media transfer in progress' message appears specially when i enter music folder of the mass memory!!
So these are some more bugs and problems which i found again.
    Thank you.
    3.
I have been taking photos of some pages.
What happens is that some images gets stored in landscape mode and some gets stored in portrait mode, though i kept the mobile in the same position while capturing. I think this is a problem with auto rotation. One more issue is with in-line editing, for example in opera mini. I we write something using prediction activated, we cannot move the cursor to previous word. To do this we need to deactivated prediction and we can move the cursor left or right towards desired words. I think this is maybe problem of 3rd party apps. This problem doesn't exists in other areas of phone like messaging. It's good. One more problem i have already sent to you is unlock or key vibration. When i remove the phone from charger the vibration doesn't work. We need to goto profiles and reactivate the profile again. Well these are some other problems i noticed in symbian belle of 701. Thank you. In love with Nokia.
    4.
Another issue is with editing contact. I cannot select the numbers easily to delete them or add some digits to theme. I cannot touch and scroll to move the editing page, i have use side scroller to scroll to bottom or top. Will post some more problems if found on Nokia 701. I hope that posting like this is not annoying to you. Thank you.
    5.
    Hello,
    1.
I was using wifi on my two phones today, C3-00 and 701. I have noticed that wifi was repeatedly disconnecting(There was less wifi signal) on my 701, C3-00 was accessing same wifi without any problems. Even if 701 connects for a while, speed was too slow, very less than my C3-00.
    2.
Task switcher which takes snapshots of apps sometimes takes wrong snapshots when we long press home key. Will post if any issue with my 701. Thank you
    6.
I was using nokia drop application to install apps from ovi store.
It have installed many apps but two apps were taking much time to install so i pressed end key and ended the Nokia Store client,.
Now my menu icons and their names are interchanged, but when i add them to homescreen as shortcut it looks okay.
    7.
    2. Game play slows down and there will be hanging effects in the game (Angry birds) during and after the email alert.
3.I don't know but i just couldn't find stereo video recording, i checked the with my earphones but couldn't find any stereo effect.
    4. Nokia account signin confirmation appears on the screen whenever i boot to Homescreen. Maybe because of new Nokia store installation! But interesting thing is that the same Nokia login confirmation appears even after turning off the phone and after connecting the charger!!! Switching the phone off and connecting the charger should only display battery meter at right top of the screen, but the login confirmation appears at that time.
    5. I had a YouTube icon in the menu. I just uninstalled it as u could play youtube via browsers itself. I later noticed that YouTube app was in Store. I downloaded it but i couldn't open it. On touching it just closes immediately. The interesting thing again is that you cannot open any Google mobile applications!!!! They just look like they are starting but gets closed immediately!! As youtube app in Nokia store!
    6. Applications screenshots. Screenshots which appear after long pressing menu are sometimes the screenshots of the Homescreen!
    7. File type icons in file manager are all look same for installation files like sis and java, office files etc.
    8. It would be better to have Homescreen sort option for easy arrangement and automatic movement of other widgets when we move desired widget on other widgets wherever there is a place for movement. Well these were some of problems, bugs and some suggestions i found. I will post some more if find any. Thank you.

    Symbian belle. Version 111.030.0609 Bugs.
    1.
I found a new problem with the scroller in the gallery. When we touch the scroller and move it completely to the bottom,
the scroller moves down inside the option button!
So we cannot scroll back again! We need to touch the gallery images and scroll so that scroller comes above the option menu!
    2.
Scrolling is pretty smooth compared to old software, but still seems some scrolling problem when there are more apps on the menu list!
    3.
There should have been a simple text editor! Please provide text editor software in Nokia store or full version Office.
    4.
Much of the productive softwares doesn't work in belle like Skype and even new updated joikuspot for example.
    5.
There should have been a record option in the options while calling and 4 columns option for menu icons.
    6.
Problem with the mailbox widget is not solved. Scolling continuously in the widget is not possible.
    7.
Brightness problem when we set display light timeout is still there. After 5 seconds after light timout display should become less bright but it becomes more bright -Works correct under bright light and works reverse in low light!!
Don't think that Nokia 701 has lots of problems.
I don't think that these are very big problems but are bearable though.
    Thank You.
    IN LOVE WITH NOKIA.

    @ khanjan_701
The menu ket blinking without any reason is caused by standby breathing light. This can be solved by going to settings>phone>notification lights>standby breathing light>breathing light>off. If not found under settings then try looking for it at profiles but I believe that in devices running Symbian Anna or Nokia Belle it is found at settings but with the E-Series like E71 and the other E-series except E7 and other E-Series running on Symbian Anna or Nokia Belle it is foound at settings.
Under settings>phone>notification lights>notification light>blink light for, you can set a specific amount of time you want the light to blink when a new message or missed call arrives. Under settings>phone>notification lights>notification light>events notified, you can choose whether the menu key blinks when either a new message or a missed call arrives.
Hope that this solution will help you. I currently have a Nokia N8-00 and by changing that setting the menu key only blinks when a new missed call or new message arrives.

  • Widgets on Symbian Belle (Nokia N8-00 from Argenti...

With the arrival of the update to Symbian Belle I realized that Nokia forgot to place multiple widgets that were present in the leaked versions of Belle months ago. Some of them are in the following images.
Widget mini music player: Belle has a music player widget that takes up half a desk but this new widget only takes two lines and let you see the same details as above including the cover, the operating buttons and details of the song.
Large Calendar Widget: A Widget in the new format of larger sizes that lets you see the summary of all your scheduled events for the coming days.
Weather Widget: This Widget brings two versions in the form of a small square that has the current climate and a landscape that has the largest weather forecast to 2 days, both are perfectly integrated with climate functionality Belle Suite Nokia Maps.
Data Switch: Enable or disable the data plan with a twist.
Cell Switch: Disconnect from the cellular network.
Mute Switch: Activate or deactivate the Silent mode with a twist.
Widget Use Data: Shows the consumption of MB of your data plan.
RSS Feed Widget: You can display any webpage updates with Feed on your desktop.
Mechanical Clock: An excellent Analog clock with large mechanical parts.
Visual favorites: You can add a link to any web page on your desktop where also see a screenshot as a thumbnail of this site.

  • Nokia 701 Symbian Belle Widget problem

when i see previews of themes on nokia store, there are some widgets that i don't have on my Nokia 701 (latest software update)...for example the (3G On/Off) widget and some others too, is there any place where i can get these widgets ?
    Solved!

These widgets are in the latest symbian Belle firmware that comes to S^3 devices like N8, C7 ... in february.
I think newer devices like your 701 will also get a software update of Belle.

Well the Nokia "Store" seems to think that the Nokia 500 has "NFC SUPPORT"... Please take a look at this link:
It clearly states there the folllowing:
     - "Simply perform the NFC handshake with another Nokia 500, 600 or 700 to unlock content."
So I don't know if whoever posted it up was trying to mislead people who own the Nokia 500 into buying their application and make them think that the software will "enable" NFC on the device.... Or just a "typo"?
It probably was a marketing strategy..... "me thinks"...

hmmm have been aware of the new phones you would be talking about being released here for a couple of weeks. was told by a little birdy, that is in the right places to know, you might say, that they were coming. hehe. Be very interesting to see them when they arrive. I'm not to sure if i would leave my e7 at this stage to change to them, but am trying to keep an open mind.
I'm sure anyone who reads some of my post will realise how much i like my e7. More like i love my E7, after all it doesnt answer back, it does what i want it to do when i want it to do it. Always looks good, and is always ready to go where i want to go. what more could you want.hehe

    hi jim,
If the machine was preloaded with Windows 8 and you upgraded to Windows 8.1 via the Microsoft Store then I can verify that you should be able to restore from Windows 8 by doing a Windows 8 Refresh. Check this guide to see what settings will be preserve and  which settings will not be preserved.

As Nokia do not create those games you mentioned, you will need to contact the developers/publishers of those games to see if they have any plans to release them for Nokia phones.

  • E6 with Symbian Belle?

    Hi there!
I'm planning on replacing my old E5-00 with a new E6.now, i know that the phone comes with Symbian Anna but i am getting conflicting reports/messages as regards software updates.
I have read from well-known internet site that Nokia will update all its Symbian Anna devices to Belle "soon". but when i rung Nokia they said No.
i should feel and have confidence when buying a Nokia phone because they are really good on the build and battery issues. not so much on the software side i think.
so, i want to find out once-and-for-all:
    1. will Nokia update their Symbian Anna devices to Belle "somehow" or in the near future?
    2. will Nokia continue to support their E-series devices with software updates even without Symbian Belle?
    3. should i buy an E6 now or wait for newer phones in the new year?
    thank you.

Nokia E6 has a diffrent resolution and layout then other Symbian^3 (Anna) devices so probably it could take longer before Belle comes to Nokia E6  ... but at least the Nokia conversation page mentions that E6 will get the Belle update
    http://conversations.nokia.com/2011/08/24/symbian-belle-the-facts-the-features-and-the-pictures/
I would call Nokia Care again and really ask them to find this out for you.
They might not be able to get an answer right away, but they should be able to find out and get back to you...
Nokia is still supporting and releasing updates for other E-series phones that are non S^3 devices, so cant see why they wouldnt continue to support the E6 no matter if it gets Belle or not.    ..they recently released an update for E72 for instance

  • E7-00 Symbian Belle - Widgets loose colors

After installing the Symbian Belle latest updates on these phones, most of the Widgets lost their colors. Now most of them are only in white. (I have 2 of these for the moment)
Although it does not had an impact on the functionality, it sure would look much better if the Icons / widgets are getting their colors back as in the Anna version.
    Appreciate any solution for this.

    Hi freitsma,
If the applications work like they did with Anna, it means they're compatible with Belle so that can't be the issue. Delete the apps, then hard reset the device and reinstall the current software to clear up any bugs. Then reinstall the applications.
Delete the applications by going to Menu > Applications > Press and hold the application > Delete.
Now connect the phone with Nokia Suite, go to Tools > Back up to make a back up but don't tick the Settings box as this will backup any bugs in the software.
Now perform a hard reset by entering *#7370# into your phone and default security code 12345 (unless you've changed this code yourself). Once rebooted, reconnect the device to Nokia Suite and click on the green arrow to reinstall the current software. Now go to Tools > Restore to restore the back up.
If you go back to the Nokia Store you will be able to redownload all free apps. All paid apps will be sent to your device for free if you contact your local Care line. All you need is your IMEI, which you can find by entering *#06# into your phone.
Reinstall all the applications and let me know how you get on so that I can troubleshoot further, if necessary.

  • Symbian belle and other stuff

Ok, after having many problems with Nokia phones I have owned, I am starting to lose my trust!
Nokia was the best mobile phones company and I have been with Nokia since 5110 but it's not the case anymore. My Nokia C7 is a great phone but I cannot use bluetooth to pair it with my laptop. Unlike android and iPhone our Symbian version of Skype doesn't support video calls, facebook doesn't show notifications, places, pages, there's no yahoo messenger version  for us and many more things
Apparently Nokia and Symbian have been left behind by developers and all the new apps or games are first on the iPhone and android.
My question is, will there be any changes in the future? Will we have notifications and video calls on Symbian belle or should I just buy an android because Nokia will continually be left out??
The belle udate was suppose to be out already by the way and no, I won't buy a Lumia because I hate Windows mobile!
    Regards

Well, my gf has an android, galaxy S2 and to be honest I'm starting to like it, she's always making me jealous with the video call options and there are loads of free apps on the market for it, apple are the ones that always overcharge for apps and accessories for their products. And I would never buy an iPhone because I simply hate them, they're too simple.
I know I'm using the correct driver for my computer and the bluetooth pairing still fails.
    I've posted around /t5/Cseries/C7-bluetooth/td-p/1219789
I still have an old N95 and it pairs. I also have an N82 but the bluetooth doesn't work like any other N82
I'll just go for an android soon, especially if the belle update will not include a music player with a search function.
Thank you all for the replies and Happy New Year

  • Symbian Belle Release Rumour

According to various reports, the much awaited Symbian Belle update will not be available untill early 2012. This comes as a surprise as there are already leaked versions for N8 and C7, with Belle Shipped with the newer symbian smartphones.
So all those people who have S^3 phones like me, will have to wait it out.

I'm sorry, here i was thinking we were all buying cool phones like the N8 and the E7 (in my case), because we wanted a cool phone to make phone calls on, that happened to be able to run some cool apps, and play music, receive emails etc.
I was obviously so mistaken, it never occured to me that you all buy your cool phone JUST so that you can update the firmware. How silly of me.
Whoever believes you have a right to an update, think again, you dont. Nokia kindly give us updates because they want to, not because someone demands one, not because they have to, but because they want to. Yes there are financial reasons for them to do it, like brand loyalty etc but no law says they have to.
Other phones quite often get 1 update a year, the makers support the phone for a few years and then they stop. no more updates. Nokia already support their phones longer than most other manufacturers, they have more models than any other manufacturer. But even so one day there will come a time when your phone will no longer be eligible for updates. but I guess some of you will complain then as well.
I've said this before if your phone doesnt work for some reason take it to Nokia to have fixed, dont expect that an update will fix your issue. I read threads before Anna was released saying how certain peoples phone werent working and they demanded Anna "because that would fix the problem" These same people are now complaining saying they demand Belle to be released because they need it to fix their problems. You know i bet it doesnt.
Belle is just a firmware, it will look better, perhaps, it may run faster, perhaps, it may even do something that Anna cant do. But honestly its not gone change anything for you in your life. Demanding Belle to be released is not going to make Nokia release it any faster, trying to compare it to something that is not an official release is not even reasonable, not to mention that its not even legal in many countries under local communications laws to use such firmware on networks, that it hasnt been approved on.
Some of you have said that updates took to long to be released and that it was over 12 months before you got an update for your N8. This may be the case in your country, but this also may not have been Nokia fault, If a carrier doesnt approve an update then the carrier is at fault, Nokia has to obey the laws of that country no matter what.
Belle will be released when it is ready and not before. There are very good reasons why Nokia do not give dates for releases. One of the most important reasons is Carriers, Nokia has no idea of whether or not a carrier will approve a release or even how long they will take to give the go ahead on a release.
The next of course is getting the firmware ready for all the different handset that it is design for. Some carriers wont allow certain functions , so they have to be removed or blocked. This can then case a flow on effect to some other piece of firmware which is totally unintended, meaning that it no longer works properly, so then they have to redeign it.
These are only just a couple of things that can go wrong, and is part of a normal day in the world of code writing. Be glad that Nokia want to continue support for your phones. But also understand that the decision to allow a piece of firmware to be released is not Nokia's alone.
Whether its released this year or early next, it really is not going to change you much. So dont waste your time whinging and complaining about the fact that it hasnt been released and start looking forward to the day that it will be released. Trust me you will all feel better.
I can say 1 thing here whther or not this paulip person works for Nokia or not. I can afford to buy a new phone every year outright, E7 cost for than that here is Australia and I have bought 2 of them this year outright. when the E90 was released I paid over $1400 AUD for it. But even though these phones are costing more than many other phones here is OZ, I still wouldnt buy a different brand of phone, not at this point in time anyway, and certainly not for such a silly reason as an update.
I also find it a bit hard to accept that Belle has only just left alpha, mainly due to what we have seen to date. If he had said it had left Beta and is an RC then I agree. Unfortunately I didnt get to read his comments, only what has been commented on here.

  • New apps for symbian belle

Hi. When will new apps available for symbian belle phones?. We can see that in android phones are flooded with apps.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There is a huge number of apps for Symbian.
Up to about 2010 it was the leading operating system in smartphones.
What Nokia don't have is the Apple IOS type of well organised app shop. A lot of Symbian app developers sold their apps directly, and a lot have withdrawn the apps from the shop for some bizzare reason. Those in the latter group who don't sell them directly are a problem and you have to google for the .sis file and eventually you will find one that installs.
Both the Nokia app shop and the Apple app shop are 95% useless garbage, however, and that will always be the case for smartphones because there are loads of app developers who think they are going to get rich by writing some near-useless app and selling a million of them for €0.50 each.
"Symbian is in the late stages of it's "death" now"
That's interesting. Can you post the date my phone is going to stop working? With 26,746 posts you are probably well connected and know the exact date.
