Symbian OS upgrade on E90

Hi
I have an E90 (300.34.84), which I believe is on S60 3.1 feature pack1. The latest mail for exchange (2.9.158) has a feature where in we can define a access point group/destination and the mail for exchange can switch between WiFi and GPRS connection automatically. But the release notes say that this reqires S60 3.1 feature pack 2. How can i upgrade from S60 3.1 feature pack 1 to feature pack 2. Thanx

the problem i have with symbian developers is that, their service to the customers is poor. I think i rather move to android or window because the xda developers are always serious bring some thing new to their customers. About a yr ago i was using the tmobile g1 which comes with android 1.6 but can you believe that the xda developers have made it successful to run the android 2.3 on this old device. But i don't see that with nokia or symbian developers. With this expensive e90 which cost me $400 can even be upgrade to fp2 then why should i wast me time with noki devices. Xda all the way. Fellows lets move to htc phone for better services.

  • IS SYMBIAN^1 UPGRADE TO SYMBIAN^3........????

    Hi, brother.
Yesterday I mailed to symbian about upgrading symbian^1 to Symbian^3. and I got replay today. And they are telling that if nokia want they can give symbian^3 to their symbian^1 customers. If it happens its next very good thing after MAPs.
If u interested in this topic then send a request mail to nokia for upgrading.
    What u say.........?

While i agree with chanchan05 observations, i think it's possible.... Symbian^3 supports ARM11 architecture.... it may not be practical nor reasonable to implement (not to mention cheap), even for a 'lite' version without some 'candies'...
However it would show that Nokia really cares about customers, X6, N97, 5530 and 5230 would be eligible as well for the update...
But i really doubt it that there will be any effort in that way by nokia's side.... if there was any plans in that way Nokia would just correct existing bugs instead of implement/enhance new features on current firmwares...
Because of the restrictive OS and IDE (however Qt Creator looks promising) i, as a programmer, give up of doing stuff for my phone (i actually did 3 small games and pseudo WRT plugin for Webkit) ... i would reconsider it if S^3 came to my phone... oh well...
We can always dream .... or hope that some crazy, highly skilled (and perhaps angry?) programmer finds a way to force it into...
5800xm on a blender ... will happen sooner than expected.... v51 is a failure as an update .... v52 just postponed its fate....

  • Google maps not working with symbian belle upgrade

guys after recent upgrade with symbian belle google maps stopped working is there any problem will belle dose it support google maps 4.1.1

For those people still can't get Google map to work on Belle after the Wifi trick, a hard reset finally fixed mine!  (No, a soft reset did not fix mine, but you should try it first.)  Yea, it's a pain in the butt having to reinstall some apps and reconfigure preferences.  But my phone also runs smoother and the battery lasts longer, as least it seems.  I still need to turn on Wifi for Google map to start.
    Detailed steps:
Do a full backup with Nokia Suite, just in case. (If you restore later, do not restore apps & preferences.  Otherwise, Google map won't work.)
Put phone in Offline mode to end all calls and connections: Press Hangup > Offline
Try Soft reset first: Settings > Phone > Phone Management > Factory Settings > Restore.
    Reinstall Google Maps.
If soft reset didn't work, try Hard reset: Settings > Phone > Phone Management > Factory Settings > Delete data and restore
    Enjoy!

  • E7 SYMBIAN BELLE UPGRADE PROBLEM

When upgrading my Nokia E7 from symbian anna to symbian belle, the phone switched off and on restarting, it dispay a text: '' phone startup failed, contact retailer.'' what can i do about this? your concern will be appreciated.

If the warning came during the update and the phone no longer works you may have to take to a Nokia Care Point to be reflashed, if you can start the phone with a Three finger reset, try to reinstall Belle. If the phone has started misbehaving after completing the update, then as mentioned before, do a reset and reinstall Belle.
    Good Luck

  • Symbian 3: upgrading

Why is it not possible to upgrade symbian 3 phones to wp7?
I totally understand that nokia made an agreement with microsoft, but i am looking forward to it. ( i know many people are angry about it, but hey remember how u used to complain about symbian 3? Anyway whats done is done. Just like some kind of saying u will know the importance of something only after u lose it...)
But what makes me sad is that they are just dumping symbian behind. i would like to ask if upgrading to wp7 would be possible? May be by overclockig the symbian 3 phones? I found a guy who overclocked n8 to around 2 ghz.(http://moneyexpertsteam.blogspot.com/2011/01/how-to-overclock-nokia-n8-cpu-to-1000.html)

I think that that upgrade to w7 is not possible because when any company design a phone they combine all the chips set to work with a OS. So is possible in some cases to adapt the OS to a phone but you will get bugs or some features that never will work.
This happens because there are not standards to build phones, each company do their best then can and get the chip and parts suply that fit their budgets

  • Anna features lost with Symbian Belle upgrade N8

    So I eagerly upgraded from Anna to Belle on my N8. Here is a list of missing features;
    1) widget offline setting
    2) automatic wifi enable when launching the browser, store or other internet app
    3) bluetooth beep no longer present after turning off bluetooth
    4) turning wifi on doesn't automatically pair with defined access point
    5) task manager or open applications feature
    6) automatic screen blanking while placing or receiving a call
    7) wife connection drops but wifi radio stays on
    9) touching battery icon indicates remaining power (same for other icons)
Another nit, apps that were previously downloaded when they were free, can no longer be downloaded without paying. Why does the upgrade remove your apps anyway? Nokia please help restore the many features that made Anna great

  • E90 firmware upgrade problems

Recently, I upgraded my E90's firmware from the version 7.xx to 300.34.84. I backed up all the data on the phone prior to the firmware upgrade - as required for the retention of software certificates and data.
Some of the trouble I'm having now is with the Download! folder, specifically the Applications subfolder - it does not update it's content - actually, it's totally unaccessible. Also, the Windows Live Application no longer works - and I'm unable to download a fresh copy as a result of the problems with the Download! folder. Prior to the firmware upgrade, I had using the Windows Live Messenger application and the Windows Live email/messaging synchronising facility in the Messaging folder hitch-free for about three months.
    Any ideas?  Thanks
By the way, I don't think the upgrade in this case has much merit. Other than the A-GPS, there's no real substance in 300.34.84.
Symbian connected me to the world, to my dreams.. Thank-you Nokia

I just saw a post for the exact same problem on an E71. Search 'E71 Download! folder: Service Not Available' by hazz on this site. See my problem is I'm not too interested in the third-party software available from ea.mobile.nokia.com/ea/apps/. I'm interested in the ones that become available in the Download! folder, under Applications. When I click on Applications, the chevron appears, followed by the progress bar, which fills almost completely, then shows the this message: 'Catalog update failed!' I believe my internet connection is working fine - I watch youtube on the device often.
This week, a new link appeared - U2 - Get On Your Boots - which great, 'cause U2 rocks. But, Applications remains dead - even if I remove it from the list and click - Options/Select/Refresh List.
I got around the Windows Live problem by using the awesome Nokia Messaging (email) [http://email.nokia.com], and the instant messaging application mxit. Besides those minor issues, I think the E90 is a pretty awesome device.
    Thanks

  • Can i upgrade the lite version of my e90 from 2.0 to 2.1?

anybody has used this upgrade for e90?

    Ciao
you might be able to install Flash Lite 3 when is available
but we do not know which handsets it will have support for. My
guess is that the E90 will be supported since it's the same
    platform of the N95.

  • E90 firmware update 2009-06-09

    Hi all,
I just upgraded my E90 firmware to v400.
I did a normal backup, upgrade firmware and restore.
But the calendar data is missing!
I have very many and very important meetings in the calendar data, so I really need this info back from the backup!
Why does the restore fail ?
I'm using the latest version of the PC-Suite software.
Is it possible to restore the calendar info anyway ?
    Please help!
    /Johan

This has been happening with PC Suite software as long as I can remember. Here's the solution:
ONLY way to get this to work is to back up your phone to PC Suite before upgrading the software. After upgrade, restore all data; calendar won’t work. Get hold of another Nokia phone with a large enough capacity memory, and restore the calendar to that handset. Then back up that calendar data to the PC Suite under another name; restore this calendar data to your original phone.
And if you have a moment, please make a formal complaint to Nokia Customer Services to fix this problem - I've known of it for at least 3 years, and every upgraded PC Suite has this fault - they just won't fix it. It's simply infuriating.

  • E90 - buy or not to buy?

As far as I can see, if you have 9300i or 9500, it is smarter to wait for some serious upgrade of E90 (maybe E90i) and not to change it at this moment.
So E90 users (who switched from 9300 or 9500), Am'I right?
What are you missing mostly, with new E90?
(I'm looking forward for short answers)

I say go into the store and put it through the paces. Make the seller let you play with it. Do with it what you do with the 9300i. They are two different machines that combine some old functionality while adding new, and removing some. It comes down to what you can live with. If higher speeds for emails, browsing, etc.... are important and you can live without a fax, and can adapt, then the E90 is maybe right for you. However, if you need the fax (there is not solution on the market, and before you ask, Nokia did not develop the current fax software solutuion on the 9300i) then the E90 might not be the way to go. There are solutions for everything you can do on the 9300i but some will cost you money, time to relearn the E90, etc.. but you might find it worth it. Try before you buy.

  • E90 firmware V 07.24.0.3 uprgade issue

    Hi,
I upgraded my E90 with latest firmware V 07.24.0.3, iam not able make any outgoing calls from my phone. Error seen is "Connection error" There is no issue for receiving the incoming call.
Did anybody else face a similar problem after the firmware upgrade, if so can you please let me know how the issue was resolved.
    Thx

Thx, yes that works instead of offline i had tried to switch to outdoor profile and then back to general profile.
Basically after firmware upgrade it seems we need change the profile to something else other that general and then change back to general. Only then outgoing calls seems to be working.

  • C6-00 firmware upgrade

A site named ___ is claiming that it has got an symbian^3 upgrade for C6-00. What should I do? Is it true?
    MODERATOR'S NOTE:
This post has been edited and the link was removed as it proceeds to void Nokia software and warranty.
    KUNAL SWAMI

Nokia has not said when or if it will release further updates for the C6-00
It's highly unlikely to get a new UI, that is only likely to be for symbian^3 devices like the N8, C7, C6-01 & E7.
All you can do is wait and see what happens. If you want a comment directly from nokia you should use this link:

  • E90 phone software (firmware) update

Does anyone know what changes/benefits there are should I decide to upgrade my E90 software to the latest version?

Check if u can do this
press *,3 and green call button together - power off the fone, remove the battery - restart after a few mins.
if u had removed the fone while update or if the updater dint complete installation properly, u may have to take it to a nokia care point for them to flash the fone again.
    good luck

  • Problem installing Java Applications

Hi there, i have problems installing Java Applications (from Ovi and from another source). The Apps from stores quit with just "there was a error", the other App is more detailed:
    Interner Fehler: Jsr plugin com.nokia.mj.impl.chapi.core.utils.
    ServiceProviderInstaller cancelled installation
Is it possible that the Java-Handler is missing or faulty? Can this handler be manually installed? Thanks Gerd (E7-00 Anna, clean installation after hardreset)

After upgrading Symbian Anna and starting the Java installation file on the Nokia Symbian^3 device, the following error message may be displayed: Installation failed – internal error: Jsr plugin com.nokia.mj.jmpl.chapi.core.utils.ServiceProviderInstaller cancelled installation. To fix this, install the following java_symbian_anna_fix.sis file: http://dl.nokia.com/ns/java_symbian_anna_fix.sis .
Note: During the installation the file will give the warning message: Application not compatible with phone. Continue anyway. Select yes to proceed.
