Symbian s60 v5 T9 word suggesting

I have always had a nokia phone but have recently moved to a win mobile touchscreen phone I really want to move back to a Nokia touchscreen phone but the only & Massive problem I have with Symbian is there is no word suggesting when typing in T9, in win mobile you have the option to “Suggest words when entering text” which is a god send for writing long words or if you cannot spell the word, because it has all ready suggested the words.  Will Symbian s60 v5 have this option? If not WHY not.

It’s nice to see that nokia is ignoring users!, will some one from nokia please answer my question as this a fundamental problem with nokia’s, or should i spend my money on Win mobile (which a dont want to but the messaging is much better)  Nokia labs is releasing excellent programs lately will they add the word suggestion to at least s60 v5??  Please.

  • Can't get Opera mini to connect - symbian S60 3rd ...

I have installed Opera Mini v7.1.32448 on my Nokia 6700 slide which runs symbian S60 3rd edition. I keep getting the error that it can't connect. (The phone does not have WiFi and I connect using Vodafone). The phones built in web browser connects to the internet just fine, but I'd like to use 'opera' instead. On trying 'network test' in the advance Opera settings, it acknowledges that 'I have a working network connection'.  Any suggestions why it won't connect for me?
    Attached, 2 x screen grabs, 1) I have network -2) I can't connect!

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it was of no help at all. Using Nokia Suite, the version of Opera Mini, is the only one available for download to my phone. It's irritating that I can connect using the standard Nokia built in browser, but as I have a very low data contract on my SIM, would love to be able to use Opera Mini to compress web surfing.
I have tried the different 'connection' options offered by Opear Mini, which are (1) use system default, (2) internet (3) WAP services. None of which connect for me. I'm sure it's a simple 'setting' somewhere, but my limited knowledge is now more than exhausted!
Just can't understand why the standard browser connects straight away, yet Opera can't make that same leap!

  • .  It's not clear to me if the default sync for calendar is the iphone or my mac (shows 82 modifications).  I want it to default to the mac but the wording suggests the iphone.  Also, I don't see any way to do the syncy

I'm having trouble with a sync alert.  It's not clear to me if the default sync for calendar is my iphone (3G) or my mac (shows 82 modifications).  I want it to default to the mac but the wording suggests the iphone.  Anybody know the default device and if it can be and if the other can be selected if desired
Also, I don't see any way to do the sync on an individual entry basis for calendar.  Looks like it will only do all of them at once.  I'd like to go through them one by one to confirm which entry is correct.
    Thanks

Maybe you should get new friends.
I'm not sure that recovery mode works when you have to trust the computer, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iOS device - Apple Support
If that won't work, perhaps you can use Find my iPhone from a computer in your iCloud.com account to erase the device.

This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone.

  • Predictive text (normal vs word suggestions)

Using a 3120classic I've selected Predictive Text - Word Suggestions.
On my previous (non Nokia) device with predictive, when I started entering a long word like 'yesterday' after a few characters it would autocomplete the whole word. I thought that's what choosing Word Suggestions would do but it doesn't seem to.
Is this sort of feature available?

Which Nokia phone will give me word suggestion? I don''t particularly want a very sophisticated phone with camera, internet etc. All I want is to speak and text, but with word suggestion, completing the words for me,  not only the basic predictive text. Can someone please suggest a phone that actually does that instead of only claiming to do it? (And what's the law on misleading claims? W.S. is listed in the functions!)

  • Removing "recent words" suggestions from Kotoeri

I'm using the Japanese Kotoeri input and accidentally entered a gibberish word combination. Now, Kotoeri keeps suggesting this gibberish combination in its "recent words" window whenever I start typing a similar combination of characters.
It's really annoying and I can't find a way to get rid of this word suggestion. I've tried the user dictionary but there isn't anything registered there. Is there a way to clear a cache in the system, or some method to forcibily remove this? I've tried restarting, etc. to no avail. The gibberish suggestion has been around the last few days despite shutdowns, restarts, etc.
If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated!

  • 6280 word suggestions

I don't get the menu for predictive text word suggestions that the user guide says i should. I can set predictive but not word suggestions. also, if i want to save a word in the dictionary i have to spell it, save it, then type it again within the same text before it will be added to the dictionary for the future.

i think this was discussed heavily a few months ago.
if memory serves, it is an issue with the firmware. some networks made a mistake i think, so some have it and some dont.
do a search on here, should provide the correct info

  • 6234: Selecting Word Suggestions on predictive tex...

    HI there
I have a Nokia 6234 and according to the user guide, I should be able to select Word Suggestions on predictive text. However I've been looking at all the possible menu options and haven't found this yet.
When writing a message, if I press Options, of the 17 items that are listed, only one of them concerns prediction and that is "Prediction off" (or "Prediction on" depending on what text writing mode the phone is in at that time). There is no Prediction sub-menu as the user guide seems to suggest, and I haven't seen any menu item called "Word suggestions"
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Charlie

I just bought my phone in Sydney, Australia about 3 weeks ago and have the same problem, every thing else is fine.
The dealer suggested I go to Nokia for a software upgrade - the version I have is V05.10 21-12-06.
Does anyone else have this problem too? If you don't (ie word suggestions works) what firmware version do you have, is is OK?
To find out your version enter *#0000#.

On page 23 of the 6111 manual it says you set "Word suggestions" as follows:

    Insert smiley
    Insert word
    Insert Symbol
    Writing Language

  • Spell check and word suggestion doesn't work Droid 4

My wife and I both have Motorola Droid 4s. I have had mine for almost a year, and she has had hers just a week. After I factory reset mine to fix a spell check problem, I noticed that the spell check still doesn't automatically fix errors, and there is no word suggestion. Her's is doing the same thing. When I looked for this issue online, I found numerous other Motorola Droid 4 owners having the same problem.
Since we text a LOT, this is certainly a major inconvenience. We would like to know if there is a fix for this issue, is it OS version and phone specific, and when an update/fix can be expected.
    Thank you for your time!

The settings you gave me are the same as I and my wife have set except for the keyboard and input methods. For us, android is checked but disabled (gray), moto chinese input is checked, and swype is checked but disabled and gray. Same as it was when spell check and suggestions didn't work. Now ours is working but what is really interesting is that we never changed anything since it wasn't working. We just woke up the day after posting this and it was working. Hmm. I left the moto chinese checked because why tempt fate?
Thank you for your reply and information.  That fact is, my spell check worked for a year and then suddenly it did not. My wife's didn't even out of the box, then the day after I post, ours works perfect. Coincidence? Who cares. =)

  • I want to turn on iPhone word suggestions

i used to have word suggestions on my iPhone when writing a text or email. How do I get it back?

    Hi Laubro01,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand wanting to have spelling and word suggestions while texting and email as well. These options can be turned on or changed in Settings > General > Keyboard on your device. Please use the attached User Guide for more information, starting on page 29.

  • Word suggestions not available in Maps Drive+

When I type in a location in Maps I get suggestions (street names, etc.) come up on the screen after typing in only a few letters and I can then select these suggestions to search.
Why isn't this feature in Drive+?
In Drive+ I have to type in the whole word and even suburb; if I'm one letter wrong it won't be found in the search; at least with 'word suggestions' I can quickly select a search word with less chance of error.
If it's not possible to switch word suggestions on in Drive+; I'd like to suggest this as an upgrade.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The keyboard is without word suggestions in Drive+ but it displays a list of possible destinations under the search input field similar to Maps (although not identical) on my Lumia - after entering three or more letters, if it is online?

  • Hostsfile (hosts file) on Symbian S60 5th edition ...

Does anyone know if a hostsfile (or similar function as a hosts file) can be installed and how it can be used on Symbian S60 5th edition (for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic)?
I've found on Wikipedia: ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file ) that it should be possible, it specifies folders where the file should be:
    Symbian OS 6.1-9.0
    C:\system\data\hosts
    Symbian OS 9.1+
    C:\private\10000882\hosts (AllFiles capable only)
but there is no more details about the needed file format, and I couldn't find any application dealing with a hostsfile on Symbian. Apparently, there used to be the Appgate Mobile Client, but I can't find it anymore.
I would appreciate any help/clue about this. Thank you.

    Hi
Yah  INT/5.00.50 and TW/5.00.60 on the N5230 work just fine. 5.00.50 is the last International version but it has a bug when navagating in landscape view, (the map looks out of sync, streets don't line up on the left and right side of the screen). That happens on the N97, N97 mini, N5230, and the Samsung HD, others say it happens on other Nokia phones, but I can't say that because I only have the phones I listed. Anyhow in the Tawain version 5.00.60 this was fixed. As a sidenote it has been rumored that Garmin has discontiued develpoment of there mobile XT product for Symbian because Nokia is offering their own product for free. But map updates will always work no matter what and in my opinion Garmin even without any more updates is and always will be a better mapping program than they very buggy Nokia/OVI Maps 3*..Lastly I am using Garmin on all my phones because Nokia/OVI maps 3.* turn by turn doesn't work properly on any of the phones I have, it is off by 250yards, (in back of) the actually position, (it tells you turn 250 yards after you already turned, crazy!) Whereas Nokia.OVI Maps V2.* never had that problem. I really wish Nokia would fix there current bugs before adding more buggy features...
