Symbol Buttons that will open a page in the same Tab using hyperlinks

Hi there,
I was just wondering how do you put the specific code into a
button symbol
to open a page like google or something in the same TAB or
page.
My following code is From Flash CS3 Action Script 3 From a
button symbol and i would like to make it open in the same page not
a new TAB.
The following code opens a page in new TAB which i did not
want.
I just need the page to open in the current page.
THANKS

Hi BalusC;
Would you please help me to understand what does it mean (from the browser perspective) "return false;" at the end of the 'Onclcik' event? It blocks the element's default action. In for example a link or a button the actual link href won't be opened and the button's form submit won't be invoked.
And why sometimes I see the word "return " BEFORE the JS function call : (example onclick="confirm(...)" AND onclcik="return confirm(.....)" ).It is just returning the outcome of the function. The confirm() function can either return true or false. This is easier and cleaner than getting it in a boolean variable and returning the variable.

  • Can I add a button next to the location bar (just like the Home-button) that will open a new tab?

In Firefox 3 there was a button that would open a new tab. This button was next to my location bar (next to the home, refresh, etc buttons), and also usable when I didn't have any tabs open (unlike the + on the tabbar, which is only there when I turn on my tabbar).
Although there is a button I can add that will open a new window, I would like to know if it is possible to have similar button that will open a new tab.

There's a New Tab button in the Customize Palette, just move it to where you want it.

when i clink a given link in google search than that webpage open in another window. How i can open that page in the same tabe ?

    Hello gogotutu
In the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/awesome-bar-find-your-bookmarks-history-and-tabs#os=win7&browser=fx17 Location bar], type [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config ]and press '''Enter'''.
The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
In the Search field, type [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.link.open_newwindow browser.link.open_newwindow]
double-click and put as a value '''1''' , click OK to save it.
do the same with '''browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external''' , again put '''1''' as a value(it is -1 by default).
check also, always in about:config, the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction] and put as value''' 0''' .
    thank you

  • Is there an option to left click and open a bookmark in the same tab and right click to open bookmark in new tab?

I want to be able to open bookmarks in the same window without having to right click and then select open. I would like it to be like internet explorer where you have the option to open a bookmark in the same tab or new tab. I had downloaded an add on that solved the problem with a simple right click to open in new tab and left click to open in same tab. This makes things soooo much easier. Am I missing an add on or a configuration where I can solve this problem. Thanks for your time.

Very, very, very confusing!!!!! Exactly which is it that you want to do????? Left-click = same tab or left-click = new tab????
    Your initial subject line:
'''''Is there an option to <u>left click and open a bookmark in the same tab</u> and <u>right click to open bookmark in new tab</u>?'''''
    Your last post (3rd post):
'''''Is there a way I can <u>left click and automatically open a bookmark in a new tab</u>...'''''
'''''''''...rather than having to left click and then select "open in new tab."'''''''''
Right-click, '''<u>not left-click</u>''', has the "Open in new tab option".
Easy answer is listed in my initial reply; left-click, same tab; middle-click, new tab!
    What are your Extensions?
    -List them.
-You obviously set up some extension with some kind of conflict.
To find out which Extension is causing the problem, <u>'''enable one-at-a-time'''</u>, restart Firefox for the change to take effect (File > Restart Firefox), test. When the problem re-appears, you know the extension causing the problem.

  • Simple button action that goes to a page within the same doc

I can't figure this out. I have a button I want to use that takes a person back to the first, or second page of the same doc. It's a catalog section with a table of contents. I need to make links for the pdf that takes people to certain pages within the same document.
In the Buttons panel, I see how to make the button, but when I assign an action, the only choice that makes sense is "Go To Destination", but I don't get or see any way to choose "page 2" of the document, or another selection method.
I did this before a few years ago on hundreds of pages, and when I open those old documents up to copy/paste the same buttons, they don't even appear to have actions on them anymore, as if it never happened.
So, what's the secret? Certainly there's a way to link to another page in the same ID file, no?

Finally figured it out. I do NOT use the button panel at all. No buttons needed. Just select the grouped object that I want for my button, and hit the "add hyperlink" button in the Hyperlink panel. Then choose "Page" from the menu that opens up and be on my way. What was throwing me for a bad loop, was that I had copied and pasted the button graphic form another document. Well, since the link made previously was broken now, I had the red flag in the Hyperlinks panel...and thus, the "new hyperlink" button was greyed out, sending me in circles. The minute I deleted the old hyperlink it carried over from the old document, the new hyperlink button worked again and all was well.
    Thanks.

  • Firefox opens Google link in the same tab (the way I like it), but I can't figure how to keep that and still have YouTube windows pop-up in a new tab. Help?

Hello, here is my problem: reading your mozilla support, I learned how to make Firefox open links in Google results in the same tab, that's the way I like it, but I still like to have my YouTube windows pop-up in a new tab (I participate in one forum, when I come to the YouTube window in some topic, I usually click on a small right-down button "watch on YouTube", and that always opens video it in a new tab; all until latest few updates of Firefox). Can this issue be corrected in about:config feature, and how? Sorry if my English isn't so glorious.
Thanks a lot for answering, and best regards...

Hello. I have just tried this add-on you suggested, and no change.
And no, there was no some other add-on before, not that I know about it. Mainly, I need this option while I'm on a forum (IP board powered), it is not really something so important, but it's neat function for me.
So, to be more detailed - I read a certain topic on this forum, and some of the posts from other members contain YouTube screens (looking same as on the original YouTube page), showing the frame of a video.
In earlier versions of Firefox, I used to click on a small YouTube logo button (right side, down, between "watch on full screen" and "watch later" buttons). Clicking on this button automatically opened new tab, leaving forum tab as it is, and in new tab original YouTube page, with that certain video. In the same time, in Google search page, when clicking on a link, all links were opening in the same tab.
Now, after some of the latest updates of Firefox, I noticed that some default settings were changed - in Google search, clicking on a link always opens a link in a new tab. I have found out here on your forum how to set this back in about:config feature, and now I have again that links in a Google results page are opened in the same tab (that's the way I like it).
But YouTube screens on this forum are now also being opened in the same tab, and that is what I don't like, and trying to change back.
So, what I need: all links to open in the same tab after clicking, as I have it now, and YouTube screens (e. g. on this forum) to be opened in a new tab (by clicking on a small YouTube logo ("watch this video on YouTube").
Pedantic I am, I know that, and I know that this may look silly to some people, but if there is a way to do something, please tell me.
Thanks for answering, and best regards.
    P.S.
Is it possible that forum updates changed my setting, and not the Firefox? Thanks again...

  • Opening a link in the same tab? Possible

Is anyone aware of a way to force a link to open in the same tab in Safari 3? I am using Google Apps, and I would like to avoid opening another window or tab when I want to move from Calendar to Docs as an example. I have tried all of the modifier keys with clicks and no luck.

If you're getting this problem from a google based page, it's not a problem with safari; rather a problem with google. Click your google preferences and uncheck "open search results in new browser window"
edit this only appears to work on the search engine itself.

  • A button that will open a new frame

    Greetings Folks:
I am intending to create a button, which after being pressed, will open a new frame. This new frame will contain some functinality which i will define later. Have you got any suggestions? Should I create a diffrent class for this new frame or should everything relating to this frame be defined in the listener method of the button?

I'd say create a new class...
But im not sure what you are talking about. Do you want a full new window with new buttons, textfields etc. Or just some kind of dialog window?
If your previous screen wouldn't have any use after the button was clicked, you could just use a repaint and set a new frame size and interface.
I'vn't got that much experience, so correct me if I'm wrong... :)
maybe an explanation what the program does would be useful?
    Regards,

  • Open HTML pages in the same Browser

    HI All,
I have a GUI with Help buttons which are required to open Help files in the default browser.
Now i am able to acheive this using Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c start iexplore url")
But the problem here is everytime the user clicks on the help buttons on various screens of the UI it opens a new browser instance where as i want all the help files to open in the same browser window.
    How do i acieve this?
Also i tried using rundll32 url.dll, FileProtocolHandler url... the problem with this command is it doesnt recognize the querystring part of the url.
    For ex : http://forum.java.sun.com/post.jsp?forum=31&skldfsdkfj
here the cmd only recognizes until http://forum.java.sun.com/post.jsp and the rest of the url is truncated when the browser opens. Do i need to escape "?" in my java application itself
    I escape & with ^& and this works..But how abt for "?"
Anyone has any idea abt this....Pls help
    ADN

all browsers ask you when you install them if you want that one to be the default one.
So yes, start or run32dll.exe can be used to launch the default browser.
No, you can't control which window to show it in, with the possible exception of Mozilla (or a derivitive (sp?)) might have some command-line options to do that. But you can't know that it's a Mozilla browser that will run with start or run32dll.exe.
Your other choice would be: search the file system for browser, or just ask the user for the path to the browser's exe in a preferences dialog or something.

  • Opening multiple pages at the same time

    Hi.
We are currently developing a few custom pages which we are calling from Oracle Applications responsibility. The pages are registered as individual functions and we call them from the applications menu structure. However when we have more than 1 page open from the menu structure, we are getting the following errors:
    " Error: Stale Data
The requested page contains stale data. This error could have been caused through the use of the browser's navigation buttons (the browser Back button, for example).
    Cause:
The number of displayed records, 2, exceeds the actual number of records, 0, in view object ClaimEstimationAM.EstLinesVO2. Some of the displayed records may have been deleted.
To proceed, please select the Close Window link at the top of the application page to return to the main menu. Then, access this page again using the application's navigation controls (menu, links, and so on) instead of using the browser's navigation controls like Back and Forward. "
We normally get this error after we have committed/saved from one of the open pages. The error appears on the page where we didn't do the commit, and it immediately appears once we start doing something on that page.
Does anyone have any idea why we are getting this error? When there is only 1 page open, there are no problems going through the processes in the page, but once we open up a second page (not necessarily the same page, it's a different function altogether), calling it from the menu, then one of the open pages start to get this error. Any help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Narissa

    Hi Gaurav.
Thought I'll mention how I set up the HTML page from the Oracle Apps Function setup.
    Function: COZF_PP_CLAIMS_ESTIMATION_PG
    Type: SSWA jsp function
    Web HTML: OA.jsp?page=/tap/oracle/apps/xxcozf/ppclaims/webui/EstimateSummaryPG
    Function: COZF_SERIAL_NUM_INQUIRY
    Type: SSWA jsp function
    Web HTML: OA.jsp?page=/tap/oracle/apps/xxcozf/ppclaims/webui/SerialNumberInqPG
Both pages are for inquiry, but users can drill-down (to a new page) to see detailed information via link or button. Same thing if user wants to update the information, an image icon is provided to open up an update page.
Again, if there's only 1 page open, no problem with processing. But once a second page is opened simultaneously, either of the page gets lost.
    Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Narissa

  • Freezes when opening 2 pages from the same domain

    Using version 15.0.1
    Having a constant problem.
I am accessing php pages on my web server.
Each of 2 different scripts (same domain) can take up to 20 seconds to complete and display the result to the browser. This is expected and working as expected.
What I don't understand, is that while the first tab is opening the first page ( eg. page1.php ) the second page ( page2.php ) that I am trying to open in another browser tab, is completely unresponsive until after the first tab has completed.
I have tested in I.E. and this problem appears to be unique to firefox.
Problem has been an irritation for at least the last month. I cant confirm if it was present before that.
    Suggestions please.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Is there a native app/software that will get my photos all the same size?

I know how to do this with photoshop but I'm not sure if there is any Apple native app/software that will do this for me.
Lets say I have 5 photos of different sizes and I want them all the same size.  I know I could reduce them all in preview but that doesn't allow me to move the photo around and cut out stuff I don't want in it.  Or I could crop them in Preview but then they are not automatically all the same size.
The way it works in photoshop is:  I open up a new project that is the same size I want the photos to be.  Let say 900x644.  Then I copy one of the photos I want in that size (lets say it somewhat bigger) and when I paste it into that blank new project that is 900x644 I can move the pasted photo around to get it so what I want to fit into that newer smaller size is there.
Is there any way to do this without special software on a regular Mac.  I'm trying to help a family member who doesn't really want to buy or learn a complicated graphics program.  They have iLife 11 BTW but I don't see a way to do it with iPhoto.
Thanks for any ideas you may have!
    Susan

Use the Automator app (it's in the app folder) to resize a batch of photos:

I just tried this and it works and is fast.

  • How to open another page on the same document in microsoft office 2008

Hi, can you tell me how to open a page in microsoft office 2008, thanks

Insert -> Page -> Page Break

  • When I click on a link, it opens in a new tab, FF3.6, would open a link in the same tab, unless Iwanted it in a new tab.

Any link that isn't a button, opens in a new tab.

I don't know of this behavior being changed just by going to Firefox 4.0, basically this is difficult to do if you want that behavior.
'''Middle-click''' defaults in Firefox to opening a link in a new tab (I override through the system to be "Enter")
Do the links open '''into separate tabs''' or do they open into the '''same different tab''' (like in Google searches).
Does this happen from any web page. Normal preferences (but maybe not default) used from search bar, and search results.
Firefox 4.0 introduced '''app-tabs''' which are pinned or unpinned from the tab context menu (right-click on tab). A pinned tab would not show the title on the tab and shows the favicon centered on a narrowed tab. Links opened from pinned tabs open in a new tab, does not apply to use of keyword shortcuts -- not links.
"'''Perma Tabs Plus'''" extension could do that but you would have to invoke it for each tab, though isn't of much/any use in Firefox 4.0 although it did work differently it is or was not working same with Firefox 4.0 (though I still have it active).
"'''Tabs Mix Plus'''" fiddles around with a lot of things almost anything could happen and it could leave things permanently switched (if you have it check it's options; I would never recommend the extension).
Try bringing up Firefox once in "'''Safe Mode'''" to see if that behavior disappears. Firefox 4 can help you with that quickly though Help ("Alt+H") -> "'''Restart with add-ons disabled..'''." this method will bring up safe mode for only the one time, then back to normal. This may not affect all things changed in "Tabs Mix Plus" but otherwise if things work properly in safe mode it generally means an extension was involved.
If an extension is involved the first place I look is "'''[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions Problematic extensions]''' " then the process of whittling down possibilities by disabling/reenabling half of enabled/disabled extensions described in ''' Extension issues''' within "'''[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_(Firefox)#Extension_issues Standard diagnostic - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]''' ".
