i'm trying to add a flickr contact to my photos, so that their photos will play during the screensaver mode... but the contact's name has a © symbol in it... and there is no option (that i can see) of typing this symbol from the apple tv's "keyboard". does anyone have an idea of how i might accomplish this... or am i out of luck? thanks!

My flickr contact name points to another account

When attempting to add my Flickr account to my Apple TV, it accesses another account. I enter my contact name, not my username. I tried a workaround by successfully adding one of my mutually contacts and searching their contact list for my account, and then adding that. Still points to another account. I have also tried changing my contact name at flickr.com, but attempting to add that on the Apple TV connects to exactly the same account, which is very strange. Entering the same string into the "People" search on flickr (while I am logged out) returns my account successfully.
If anyone reading this has an Apple TV and wants to try to replicate this, my Flickr contact name is "Tom & Viv". It returns an account with the contact name "Tom & Viv" but with the additional name "Tom Nguyen", and with a flickr stream that is not mine.
Can anyone here help? Or should I be referring to flickr for help?

Also, the Apple TV specifically asks for "contact name" which is what it displays on contact lists too.
Flickr have responded with this:

What they refer to as screen name is what Apple refer to as contact, isn't it?

How Do You Add a "flickr" Contact?

So, what's the deal with AppleTV and flickr?
Apparently the only way to view photos on flickr through the Apple TV is by adding people as "contacts" -- a pretty lame way to explore the site to begin with.
But.... I can't even add contacts. I couldn't even add myself as a "contact." I entered the user ID for my account (same as here: "driver49") and it said "contact not found" or something like that.
So, uh... what's the trick?

I copied that from the address field in Firefox into Safari, and my photos came up fine.
So why they don't come up in A(how do you do that little symbol thing?)TV is.... a mystery!

I updated my iPhone4 to iOS5.1 and my ' ' symbol in my Contacts and Calendar have now disappeared. How can I get them back?

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data doing a reset.
If this does not work, set it up again as new device, without using the latest backup afterwards.

Flickr contact not Found?? But Netflix works...

Cant get the Flickr login to see my Flickr account even tho all my pics are Public.
Having trouble logging into my YouTube account as well.
But logging into Netflix was a breeze and works well - except for some missing genres.
Any clues from fellow users?

Why can't I access my Flickr contacts photos on my new Apple TV?

It keeps telling me that it can't locate a contact with that name, even my own Flickr ID.

My own Flickr account is public. I think the others may be Friends and Family. I am able to access them on my iPhone 4 and iPad, just not the Apple TV2 or Apple TV1.

I'm just wondering what the little blue man symbol next to one of my contacts means.

Next to the contact you've identified as yourself (for Siri) you should see a little stick-like figure of a head and shoulders. Is that what you mean?
Otherwise, my guess is the contact information is imported from somewhere (like Facebook, for example).

How can I unmark photos which are marked for republish to Flickr?

I am currently using Lightroom 3 to publish photos to Flickr. I have a free Flickr account.
My problem is that I have a set of photos I am publishing to flickr. For some reason some of my photos lost their keywords, only the files on my computer lost them, the photos on Flickr still have the keywords intact. Also I applied a colour code to a couple of the photos on my hard disk that are being published to Flickr.
Now Lightroom has detected these changes and the photos appear under 'Modified Photos to repblish' the thing is the changes I made were either putting keywords back in that were already in Flickr anyway, and colour coding which makes no different to flickr. Because I have a free account if I republish the photos I will lose all the comments and stats on Flickr, so I don't want to republish them.
Whenever I click the publish button I get a warning that republishing the changed photos will lose any information on flickr and I have the option to skip them, and just publish new photos. But if I ever do want to republish a photo I won't be able to do this without also republishing all the photos marked for republish.
Is there any way I can remove these photos from the republish list?

This is an issue with the LR programming, as it does NOT allow you to unmark images it feels need to be republished. Oftentimes it's only a matter of adding a keyword or tweaking the develop settings that triggers this. I for one wish that choice was available.
Here's what you can do: simply disconnect from the Flickr service. Doing so will have NO detrimental effect on the images in Lightroom or the images you have already uploaded to Flickr. What you will lose, however, is the "library" of images that you have already uploaded to Flickr. Since this is really only a collection there's no harm. Besides, if you need to review which of your images have been uploaded to Flickr at a later time, just reference Flickr. Oh, you'll also lose Lightroom's ability to download any comments your Flickr contacts make on your uploaded images. If it's important for you have that data in Lightroom, rethink the disconnect option. After disconnecting, reconnect using the same parameters you had before. Your Lightroom/Flicker collection will be cleared of all previously uploaded images and you can begin adding new images to upload.
Again, disconnecting has no effect on your Flickr content. However, if you REMOVE images from the collection using Lightroom, they will also be removed from Flickr. Please understand the distinction between disconnecting from the Service and removal of images using Lightroom.
All that being said, republishing images from Lightroom to Flickr, in my experience, should not cost you anything in terms of number of views, favorites, comments, etc. It should be seamless.

I'm using LR 3.2 and am having the same issue. I see that no one from Adobe has replied to this and that the previous reply was from August, 2010. There seem to be no answers to this one...
I have several images that LR feels should be republished, and ONE image that I want to republish. I CAN'T republish just that one image though without republishing ALL the other images.
Can someone (maybe someone from Adobe) help me with this? How can I simply UNmark the other images to not be republished? I do not want to remove them from the collection, but simply do not want to republish them at this time.
Why can't Adobe simply ask us if an image should be republished or not? Why can't they allow us to UNmark an image to be republished once it's marked?
Ideas?? HELP!

I see only one reference to that button in the printed and on-line documentation, the button when you're creating a phone number in a Contact record, the button displaying those special symbols + * #. The only reference I've found is to press that button and then select "Pause" to enter a pause (displayed as comma) in the number. But you can also enter a "+" or "*" or "#" ... leading me to think they must be the equivalent of "Wait" etc. But it's not documented: can anyone tell me what those do?

So, are you saying that those other symbols are ones I would only use if that outside service (office voice mail, some other service) required those symbols; that they don't actually give the iPhone itself an instruction (such as the "+" and "pause" do)?
[The reason I'm asking is that I just switched over to the iPhone, previously having Verizon service, and with that service there were ways to enter the equivalent of Pause (where the phone would wait a few seconds per pause before sending the next number) or Wait, which would cause the phone to wait until I pressed "send" again, at which point it would send the next digits (useful for PINs and Passwords) ... ]
But those were instructions in the Verizon phone to the Verizon phone ... I'm just looking for some official documentation on whether these symbols in the Contact record telephone numbers serve similar purposes, and, if so, which ...
The + is clear now. I'm still hazy on the # and * ... and wondering if they're addressed anywhere in iPhone documentation. I couldn't find them.

How to login to Flickr on Apple TV 2G?

It asks for my Flickr Contact.... For those of you who know Flickr.. I've tried using my Screen name, my Yahoo ID, and my contact email for the Apple TV. As I said, it asks for my Flickr contact? And I've tried those 3 I mentioned but none work. What do I need to do?

If you have an Apple TV and you want to view your Flikr pictures on it... the only way that it will work is:
-Login to your Flikr account on the main website(either on a laptop, Pc or iPad)
-at the top right where it says Signed in as (whoever you are).... Click on that
-Then where it says your account and directly underneath that, click the second tab (Privacy & Permisions)
-Unfortunately the big thing to consider here is that once you click on that second tab, you'll see Global settings and directly underneath that Global settings you'll see who can access your main images... NO ONE AS YOU HAVE A FREE ACCOUNT!
So to summarise, if you have NOT got the Pro account or another word you only have a FREE account then you will not be able to enjoy all your lovely pictures on your Apple TV.
Hope this help as I have haven't managed to find a single Forum with any indication why mine doesn't work.

Unified Contacts Not Working

Unified Contacts is a great feature, but only if it actually works, and so far I have found no evidence that it does. I have never come across an address book card with the "unified info" title, and I have numerous repeat entries in my address book, each with unique information. Same first and last names, no middle name or initial. It's a mystery! The iPhone manual provides instructions for creating Unified Contacts manually, but this functionality does not appear to be present, there is no + symbol when editing contacts that seems to correlate with a linking feature, only those for adding fields. What's going on? Any advice?

As far as I can tell this junk just doesn't work and it has been getting worse. I have reset my iPhone many times, rebuilt my addressbook from my MacBook and re-synched dozens of times. Actually the only function that I see working is the complete jumbling on my contacts! I keep hoping that iCloud will help, but since you have had no reply since July, I suspect few are willing to dive into this morass.
Lately, my MMS addressing has reverted to total manual addressing. I created test contacts in my OSX Addressbook, synched with M-Me and those contacts don't appear anywhere on my iPhone. It is just too complicated and I'm guessing the OSX folks aren't working with the iOS folks. Just look at the disimilar keyboard layouts between them for a clue!
Sorry, I am sadly anticipating for iCloud to collapse with a loud clap of thunder! Poor design between platforms, IMHO!

Many problems since the update - help?

Hi all,
Let me start by saying that I am, for all intents and purposes, a huge Apple booster. I have a new 24" iMac. I have an Airport Extreme. I have an iBook G3 I use for travel (I'm a journalist) and recently handed down my old G3 iMac to my son after loading it up with RAM. I extoll Apple products because they are elegant and simple, and a pure pleasure to use.
Unfortunately, this hasn't been my experience with Apple TV since the 2.0 update.
My problems since the update include:
1) My Apple TV regularly "hangs" when trying to connect to ATV content. About 50% of the time when I try to play a song or podcast or movie preview -- whatever -- instead of connecting to it, I'll get an "Accessing iTunes Store" message which, after about 30 seconds of the little spinning icon, will inevitably revert to "The iTunes Store is currently unavailable. Try again later." I have to "back out" of the submenu (e.g., "Movies" or "Podcasts" or "TV Shows"), and enter another, different submenu before it will connect. I've tried all combinations of Airport settings ( both 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz N, mixed b/g/n), and many different channels, but this keeps on happening. I have troubleshot my network connection with my ISP, and have tested the integrity of the line at DSL Reports. The connection and line quality is fine. Connection strength: signal = 54; noise = 92. In other words, decent.
2) When attempting to play HD Trailers, it is now hit and miss whether or not they will load. Instead of a blue progress bar, my screen goes black for about 15-20 seconds. (During this time, I cannot exit out of the action by pressing 'menu' on my Apple remote; it is effectively unresponsive.) After the 15 seconds or so are up, I get the following message: "Selected content is not available. Format is not recognized" -- or something close to this. After I exit, play an SD trailer, and then hit into the same trailer again, it will often (but not always) work.
3) Album cover art flips often "stick" when turning, especially when playing songs with long, scrolling titles. (I spent a lot of time on the phone with an Apple TV Product Specialist and, after he replicated the issue, he passed on his findings to the Apple Engineering. It is, I was informed, not high on their list of priorities
4) Unplugging and then replugging the ATV to reboot causes a small electrical spark. Needless to say, I don't tempt fate by doing this any more, and instead use the "-" and "menu" restart method.
All in all, a very disappointing experience of late. Very un-Apple.
By the way, connecting to YouTube videos and Flickr contacts ALWAYS works. No problems at all with any non-Apple site accessed through the ATV. So the problem lies with Apple.
Is anyone else experiencing similar difficulties? I'm at my wit's end with this thing. Never thought I'd be saying that about an Apple product. But I want to try and solve it, so I'm asking for help. If nothing can be done, I'm going to ask Apple to replace it, or return it.

I facing problem in integration with FI.
I maintained one symbolic account for one wage type like that several symbolic accounts for wage types with several GL accounts assigned to them.
I got 2 warning and 2 error messages :-

1) enter a true account assignement relevant to cost accounting,
2) No master cost center is possible as replacement for direct account assignment.
<b>ERROR</b>
1) No substitute cost center maintained.
2) Account Assignment are incorrect, No Substitution is possible.
Please suggest me how to overcome on this. Waiting for reply.

Please choose a proper symbolic account. Contact the FI person in your company.
For the FI posting to run properly, system needs to have either a master cost center or a substitute cost center defined.
You have not defined a master cost center in the employee master data in IT0001. Please maintain a master cost center or a substitute cost center in the IMG section (Activities in the AC-system)

I have a unique problem

My daughter gave me her old ipad and had the name switched. I live in France and don't speak the language. I've tried to buy audio books and to make things easier my daughter bought an itunes gift card in Euro's but when I put the # in it doesn't work. I've been in touch about this and had no response!!!

You said in your first post that you had been in touch with someone. If that was iTunes Support then how long ago was it (and you've checked the spam folder on your email account as well as the inbox) - it can take up to 24 hours for them to reply.
If it's been longer than that, and you've tried possible alternatives for the character in the code (as far as I know they only contains alphanumeric characters, not any special symbols), then try contacting iTunes Support again (you will probably need to give them images of the front and back of the card, and possibly its receipt) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes

Lumia 1020, BIG dissapointment so far!

My new 1020 is not what I expected, yet I have not even used the camera which I hope will be as good as the 808 PureView phone camera.
Ok, I transfered my (SIM)constacts via bluethooth from my old 808 PureView, no problems, but where in the world do I get a list of contact in the 1020?? Ofcoarse now when Microsoft is involved..."contacts" for them are email addresses and people on the MSN/Skype contact list too...When pressing the ordinary Nokia "phonebook" symbol, it says "CONTACTS" on top, then below "all" and below then "configure account" and below that "import SIM contacts" which I can not press because there are no contacts on my SIM card probably. I need to press the magnifyin glass and typ a letter and the copied SIM contacts containing that letter pops up along with e-mail addresses från both my Hotmail accounts which I have unboxed in the settings but ofcoarse still shows as contacts....this is alot of pressing to just make a simple phonecall! The "phonebook" symbol should ONLY show a list of alla phonenumbers ofcoarse! What is wrong??
This 1020 really feels like my old Sony Acro...poor quality on the display, too big for one hand use(and I have large hands) and typing a sms is really hard hitting those small button so close together! Where do I find the alphanumeric keypad for fast sms´ing?
And watching photo is somewhat a nightmare in the 1020 compared to the awesome 808 PureView...I trasnferd lost of pictures to my 1020...many from the old 808 PureView....ALL photos appear to be a little bit blurry on the 1020...and you can not zoom in much at all, only one stage with dubbleclick and then all the way to 100% manually but not more which was possible in the 808...in the 1020 is seem it does not care if its a 300KB pictures or a 38 Megapixal picture, It zoom in the same on both...which is not enough for the 38 Mpixel and way way too much for a small 300KB picture...and this blurryness is ofcoarse something Nok....eh..Microsoft have done to make the phone faster...Even my fast computer can not handle these megabig photos in the speed the 1020 currently do....soo...can I please watch my 38Megapixel photos in full resoluton please so I can see all the fine details like in the 808 PureView?
And how can I see the 4G and battery symbol ontop all the time and not just 2 seconds? Its so tiny taskbar anyway, let it be shown, I wanna see whats goin on op there..especially my signal strength!
Ive optimated the phone so much everywhere now so I have not yet discoverd the camera...its nice the 1020 is fast and email accounts are up to date constatly which i great, but its not yet as high end phone like the 808 Pureview, its more like an better copy of my old Sony Acro S Android phone..... someone please solve my issues obove!
Such great flagship phone must be able to show photos in fullresolution even though it may take a second to load the orginal photo liek the 808 PureViev and even the N8 had to do to process a 12 Mpixel pic.
And only one kind of keyboard?? Gotta be more different types..where are they?? Man I wished this 1020 came in the 808 shell...it was a dream for one hand use! Even Apple realised this when they created their latest Iphone....

Most of your 'objections' are easily spotted when you see the phone in a shop or even when you read the specs. How do you figure a phone with a 4.7"display will be the same size as one with a 4inch screen?
Many things in WIndows Phone work a bit different from what you may be used to on the 808PV yes. But those are things you are used to more that better or worse. You can easily have the cellular connection, WiFi and more indicators available all the time by simply adding them to the startscreen and putting a small tile across the top or anywhere you like. There is a multitude of apps for this purpose in the store like WiFi livetile and Cellular livetile.
The 1020 screen resolution is four times that of the 808PV so icons and text will appear smaller in the same pixel height. Zooming into photos with pinch zoom is far more detailed as you seem to indicate and I think it's more a matter of getting used to this than anything else (again). The keyboard is not customisable or replacable. I personally do not see anything wrong with it though.
The People Hub is much more than a contact list, it is the place where you find everything about the people you know and communicate with. If you want a more 'oldskool' experience there are (again) many apps available in the store like rapdialer.
Lastly, I get that starting with a new phone and a new OS is challenging sometimes, but to say the 1020 is to big (even with big hands) is pushing it IMO. It may take a little time to get used to the larger size but that will happen soon enough. Also you may want to consider people would be much more willing to help and assist when someone comes in here and ask for help of suggestions as they are new to the phone and ecosystem as opposed to someone who comes in basically guns blazing and with a negative mindset.
If you do not like the phone no one is forcing you to keep it, you have had ample time to inform yourself and you are not new here so you might have popped in before hand and ask questions. It would have prepared you better and woudl most likely have put you in a different mindset from the start.
That said, if you want to know, ask! many of us here will be happy to help..
