Symbol logkup error:/ust/lib/libxml2.so.2: underfined symbol: gzopen64
Hi,
When I use
pacman -S gnome gnoe-extra
After downloading all the packages, I saw the error [/usr/bin/gconftoo-2: symbol logkup error:/ust/lib/libxml2.so.2: underfined symbol: gzopen64] when I was installing...
And, I use
startx
Nautilus and panel can't be used....
the error informationg are:
1.The panel could not register with the bonobo-activation server(error code:3)
2.Nautilus can't be used now,due to an unexpected error from Bonono when attemping to register the file manager view server
I need help~!
Now, I put the error msgs here(I think it must be a bug~!):

I'm trying to use mysql-query-browser and I keep getting this error:
symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2: undefined symbol: gzopen64
Some searching in the forum shows that people previously fixed this by updating libxml2 and zlib. I have done so and even changed my mirror to the arch ftp but continue to get the same result.
mysql-query-browser was working for me last week, I probably did a pacman -Syu and maybe something broke? Does anyone know of a solutin to this?After a ton of searching online I found that in the /usr/lib directory is a problematic libz.so.1. In my case I have a symbolic link to libz.so.1.2.3.4. The sym link seemed correct to me, but I deleted the sym link and linked it again which fixed the problem. mysql-query-browser works again from the CLI. It doesn't work from the start menu.
I have to do this everytime I restart my computer and want t ouse mysql-query-browser. Not sure why and it's annoying, but it's a workaround. -
Symbol lookup error /usr/lib/libXi.so.6
Dear All,
After a recent update, I have problems with libXi. I get the following error while trying to plot something with gnuplot:
gnuplot: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libXi.so.6: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie.
I get a similar error when trying to run a java application:
java: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libXi.so.6: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie
Something looks broken. I tried downgrading libXi to the previous version 1.3.2-1:
pacman -U libxi-1.3.2-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz
but that didn't help. I'm now back on version 1.4.0-1
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. This is my first post to this forum so bare with me. I've been a gentoo user for quite sometime but I'm trying a binary distro for obvious reasons.
This also looks like a bug for I haven't done anything strange. This is a newish installation and all I do every week or so is pacman -Syu as suggested in the beginner handbook. I'm surprised no one else has posted this problem... is it really just me?. There are some old post on this issue but there was no solution there other than downgrading which I have already tried.
I've just realized that not even okular works!!! Why am I being punished?
okular: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libXi.so.6: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie
Thanks.

I've installed quartus II today too and ran into similiar conflicts. I build version 1.2.1 of libxi again as suggested by davidgurvich, but "tricked out" pacman to avoid rebuilding the whole xorg packages, which depend on libxi>=1.3:
pkgname=libxi
pkgver=1.3
pkgrel=2
realver=1.2.1
pkgdesc="X11 Input extension library"
arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
url="http://xorg.freedesktop.org"
depends=('libxext>=1.1' 'inputproto>=2.0')
makedepends=('pkgconfig')
options=(!libtool force)
license=('custom')
source=(${url}/releases/individual/lib/libXi-${realver}.tar.bz2)
md5sums=('cfb36307e8e7ffafe40848dba24e0b11')
build() {
cd "${srcdir}/libXi-${realver}"
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --disable-static || return 1
make || return 1
make DESTDIR="${pkgdir}" install || return 1
install -m755 -d "${pkgdir}/usr/share/licenses/${pkgname}"
install -m644 COPYING "${pkgdir}/usr/share/licenses/${pkgname}/" || return 1
works for me... however, this is a dirty solution. maybe someone provide a better fix. -
Hi: It is my first post on archlinux forums. I have a problem with libpango. When I start openbox session (With slim or startx it's the same), give me the error: Symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_object_replace_qdata . The crash sucesed then the latest update.
Already tried several alternatives (install pangox-compat, reinstall pango, etc.) and no luck.
I installed pekwm and the WM is started, but i can't execute apps what depend of libpangocairo
Any idea?
¡Cheers!

How can we replace cairo-infinality-ultimate with simple cairo ?
simply install cairo:
`pacman -S cairo`
it will ask you that you sure to replace cairo-infinality-ultimate with cairo, and you answer yes. pacman will take care of those dependency stuff. -

Are you by chance calling a LabVIEW DLL within your LabVIEW VI which is being called from TestStand? I know this error occurs when a LabVIEW DLL built in a different version of LabVIEW than the selected Run-time Engine.
Here is a KnowledgeBase which references the issue:
KnowledgeBase 203EA3XC: LabVIEW.LIB Error When Calling a LabVIEW DLL Built with VIs That Use Externa...
If this is the case, you will need to open the LabVIEW DLL source VI in the LabVIEW version you are using and rebuild the DLL.
Thanks and have a great day!

File not found error for /lib/masks.js
Hi Everyone,
We keep getting a file not found (404) error for
/lib/masks.js and favicon.ico. I did a complete search on our site
and could not find reference to them anywhere, does anyone know
what these files are and why we would be linked to them.
Kind RegardsHi Dan,
If you had searched you would have found out how to make this work.
Search on "crdb_adoplus.dll" or "useLegacy" and you'll find the answer. As well as setting your framework to full and not the client.

I'm pretty sure Arch didn't use faac2 , i can hack it by recompiling FFMPEG with faac2 but this is a small problem, arch should just go and fix this little annoy bug.
After a ton of searching online I found that in the /usr/lib directory is a problematic libz.so.1.
Relocation error : /usr/lib/libresolv.so.2
I am facing this error message whenever I launch mailx program. The error is as following : "/usr/lib/libresolv.so.2: symbol __nsl_fopen: referenced symbol not found".
What do this error indicates? Does it require patches? Thanks in advance for all help.Hi mate,
I also have received the same error after adding a patch (to solve the DNS cache poisoning) using the -u "unconditional" option :
patchadd IDR138959-01
Checking installed patches...
ERROR: This patch requires patch 109327-22

# patchadd 109327-22

ERROR: This patch requires patch 108994-27
which has not been applied to the system.

when i tried to get the 108994-27 patch from sunsolv web site I found that this patch is deleted from their DB and considered withdrawn:
[http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-21-108994-29-1]
So I decided to use the unconditional method (-u) option to force the patchadd command to install the 109327-22 patch:

after this step the error message starts when i tried to test the old BIND 8.1 server as follow:+

Backing out (removing) the latest patch 109327-22 (that has installed unconditionally using the -u option) solved the problem see:

any attempt to start BIND 8.1 again will produce the same ERROR:
ld.so.1: in.telnetd: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/libresolv.so.2: symbol __nsl_fopen: referenced symbol not found
i did not care because i decided to use the new BIND 9
but
after i rebootet the server (init 6)
and try to connect to it remotly using telnet:
telnet ns1
the login screen shows the same error message as follow:
ld.so.1: in.telnetd: fatal: relocation error: file /usr/lib/libresolv.so.2: symbol __nsl_fopen: referenced symbol not found
connection closed by foreign host.
the bind 9 is working no problem but I can not login to the srver using telnet as described above
shall i try to remove the 109327-22 patch?
but I am afraid that this may damage my new BIND 9 installation!!
any help to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
I am getting the above mentioned error whenever running the scripts through a scheduler (MAESTRO). If I try to runt th script manually then there is no problem.
Oracle Version: 10.2.0.1.0
Server: HP UNIX
My user is added in the dba group.
In my script I have mentioned ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_BASE, ORACLE_SID, LD_LIBRABY_PATH,SHLIB_PATH accordingly. But still I have the same error.
I have already checked the existance of the file under $ORACLE_HOME/lib and $ORACLE_HOME/lib32 folder and in both the places it have executable permission for all the users.
I saw a lot of post with the same issue, but nothing worked for me. The difference in my problem is, I can run the script manually without any error, but whenever it is running via a scheduler generates the problem.
Any help will be greatly appriciated.
Thanks,
UdayHi,
