Symbol not mapping onto 3d image
I'm trying to draw a coin and have successfully mapped the head onto one side of the coin, but for some reason tails isn't mapping. I did the exact same thing to tails as I did to head - I turned the vector image into a symbol and then map it onto a face. It's not a problem with the face because when i switch the positions of the heads and the tails, the heads shows up and the tails still doesn't show up.
Does anyone know what's going on?
The heads is below, and the tails simply does not show up.
But did you have to reposition the mapped symbol, since adding anchors also add surfaces
No. I did exactly what my instructions indicated: I simply positioned the Symbol for mapping onto the front surface, with no scaling. After Illusrtator rendered the result, I selected Add AnchorPoints twice.
The distortion was due to the extended handles of the middle point which gives the front surface its concave shape. Adding anchorPoints effectively shortens the handles, thereby lessening their distortion effect. That does not necessarily add surfaces to the model. A 3D Effect model does not necessarily create additional surfaces for each "patch" defined by anchorPoints. You can see that easily by simply extruding a filled, unstroked ellipse into a cylinder with open endcaps: One surface, despite the four anchorpoints in the section.
Moreover, with the preview checkbox on, the 3D Effect interface highlights the surfaces on your model as you page through them in the Map Art dialog.
OF COURSE the model's section path needs to be drawn with some sense about what 3D Effect will have to do to it geometrically, and about the scale of the 3D model settings relative to the size and aspect ratio of the mapped artwork (thus my admonitions to that effect in my second post). One can't just willy-nilly apply elaborate automatic effects to any carelessly-drawn path and expect results to work right. But assuming appropriately-drawn sections for the extrusion, adding anchorPoints can be an effective means by which to correct distortion caused by long curve handles--just as it can also be used to more closely approximate uniform spacing of Blend steps along curves spines. The long radius concave front of a trade show backdrop is a case-in-point.

Even mapping onto 3d object in Illustrator CS3
Having a wee bit of a problem here - I have created artwork for a display stand and, to demonstrate how this will look, I'm trying to make a 3 mockup in illustrator CS3.
I've created a top down shape for the object which I then extrude and map the image on to - this is where the problem arises! Illustrator seems to 'bunch' the mapped image around points where curves are tighter (presumably due the increase in vertices there) rather than mapping it evenly around the surface. This causes some rather undesirable warping of the image which rather ruins the effect!
Can anyone tell me a way of avoiding this?
Many thanks! But did you have to reposition the mapped symbol, since adding anchors also add surfaces

The crash occurs because either multiple JavaPlugins are installed on your HD, or you need to reinstall the latest Java Update.
Go to your Finder: Your User Account>Library>Internet Plug Ins folder. If you see JavaPluginCocoa there, move it to the trash, then restart Safari.
If there is no such plugin in that folder, reinstall the Java update using this download. In the event Safari is stable only for a short time preventing you from downloading the file again, first, go to Safari Preferences>Security and uncheck the Java option. Then try the download. After the install, restart Safari, go back to the Security Panel and select Java again. -
"The updater does not have a firmware image"
My initial problem was that I suddenly could not copy purchased music from iTunes to my iPod. I tried the suggestion of downloading the iPod Updater. The Updater did indicate that my iPod software, 2.2, "needs update". Upon attempting to install the Updater (by clicking 'Update'), I received the following message: "The Updater does not have a firmware image." I notice that SEVERAL people are having the same problem at this very moment on this message board. I hope someone from Apple notices this fiasco and does something to fix it. Please help. Restoring my iPod is not an option for me. Thanks.
Yes, I've had this problem too. And the iPod has not been updated with any of the tracks I bought since updating to iTunes 5, but iTunes REloaded all the older tracks onto my iPod. Why? Seeing as the upgrade to iTunes 5 was a bit traumatic in itself, I'm not altogether surprised to discover the newer tracks had not been copied: there is obviously some incompatability here somewhere - but goodness knows where.

Download videos from Iphone to Mac - Iphone not showing up in image capture
Hello I am trying to download the videos I took with my iphone onto my computer, but the iphone is not showing up in image capture or iphoto. Does anyone know how to get the videos off without degrading the video quality.
ThanksPhotos captured by your iPhone shouldn't be a problem.
Photos saved from a received email, from a website, or from a received MMS has caused this problem for some, and I'm not sure why. I haven't experienced the same yet. This may include screenshots.
Email the screenshots only to yourself followed by deleting the screenshots from your iPhone's Camera Roll, and the same for any photos saved from a received email, from a website, or from a received
MMS.
Test if this resolves the problem for importing the photos and video that were captured by your iPhone. -
DG Observer triggering SIGSEGV Address not mapped to object errors in alert log
Hi,
I've got a Data Guard configuration using two 11.2.0.3 single instance databases. The configuration has been configured for automatic failover and I have an observer running on a separate box.
This fast-start failover configuration has been in place for about a month and in the last week, numerous SEGSEGV (address not mapped to object) errors are reported in the alert log. This is happening quite frequently (every 4/5 minutes or so).
The corresponding trace files show the process triggering the error coming from the observer.
Has anyone experienced this problem? I'm at my wits end trying to figure out how to fix the configuration to eliminate this error.
I must also note that even though this error is occurring a lot, it doesn't seem to be affecting any of the database functionality.
Help?
Thanks in advance.
BethHi.. The following is the alert log message, the traced file generated, and the current values of the data guard configuration. In addition, as part of my research, I attempted to apply patch 12615660 which did not take care of the issue. I also set the inbound_connection_timeout parameter to 0 and that didn't help either. I'm still researching but any pointer in the right direction is very much appreciated.

HELP! Copyright symbol not displaying properly!
Hi, I just uploaded a site and I have a couple of problems. The copyright symbol on the footer of each page shows up as a diamond with a question mark in it. Then on some other pages, like the FAQs page for example, the bullet symbols are displaying correctly but the em dashes look like a diamond question mark followed by a G with a squiggle under it. What am I doing wrong?
Check it out here:
http://www.newenglandadventure.com
Also, it seems my footer is breaking onto a second line. It looks fine in Dreamweaver when I preview the page in a browser, but now it looks like it doesn't fit. It might have to do with the copyright symbol, not sure. Please help because I've already uploaded the site and I don't want people to view it messed up like it is, thanks! Can I assume that you either copied this straight from word or pasted the text into Design View?
If you go into the code view, you will probably see the diamond symbols there too. For the copyright symbols:
Copyright 2012 New England Adventure, LLC. All rights reserved.
Replace with:
© Copyright 2012 New England Adventure, LLC. All rights reserved.
For your bullets, you can either modify what you have or change it to an unordered list which is the correct way to display such information.
To change to unordered list, select the bulleted text and in the Dreamweaver menu go Insert > HTML > Text objects > Unordered List.
In code view you should see each line now has <li> around it.
To replace what you have, remove the symbols in code view and replace with •
Ģ Meals: Four Breakfasts and two Dinners<br />
Replace with:
• Meals: Four Breakfasts and two Dinners<br />
For your em dash:
Insert > HTML > Special Characters > Em-Dash
or
add — in code view.
As for the footer, it seems to be a basic spacing issue. This can be amended several ways - increasing the width of the div/table cell, decreasing the font size, removing margins/padding etc. Or it could simply be caused by the additional diamond symbols on the copyright.

Short dump GETWA_NOT_ASSIGNED field symbol not been assigned
Hi Gurus,
I am calling a RFC BAPI_PBSRVAPS_CHANGEKEYFIGVAL2 from R/3 sytem to SCM 5.0.
Acutally this FM BAPI_PBSRVAPS_CHANGEKEYFIGVAL2 not available in R/3 system.
So i am using scm destination and calling above FM directly from R/3 but i am getting the short dump
in SCM system as GETWA_NOT_ASSIGNED field symbol not been assigned.
Can you pls check and advise.
Best Regards,
Radhakrishna.Hi Radhakrishna,
It looks like you have a discrepancy in the planning area with respect to keyfigure. Some thing like the key figure description is not synchronized between live cache and db.
I suggest you log onto your SCM system, run the program /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_CONS_CHECK on your planning area with correct error option.
Please let me know if this works. -
Is my question out there?
It seems the longer I have Aperture open more and more images become unavailable. There's a dotted line around a blank thumbnail and clicking it may result in prolonged static "loading" symbol and ultimately, if anything else, a message that the file type (which is .jpg, nothing exotic) is not supported. These images are on an external iomega terabyte hard drive. It gets worse. If I go straight to the iomega drive where the images are all listed, selecting one brings up a symbol instead of a thumbnail and double-clicking brings the message that I "do not have permission" to open this file. No, that shouldn't have mattered necessarily ss long as you moved the folders into the correct spots.
You could start over by throwing all the folders you just moved in back out (could park them in a folder on your desktop). Then, if you want to start over completely, and - important - have the following file on your external - go to Users -> Library -> Preferences: com.apple.Mail.plist. This file contains all your account settings.
Copy that file over to your new Mac.
Throw out that same file on your new Mac (Mail will now think it has never been launched before).
Move the old .plist file into the same spot.
Move your Mail folders into place (and replace any newer folders there, so you will have exactly the same folder setup as you did in the old one).
Launch Mail (keep fingers crossed - it should work!) -
Centering text onto an image.
How do you do it?
For example
g.drawImage(image, x, y, Graphics.HCENTER | Graphics.VCENTER);
g.drawString("text", x, y, Graphics.HCENTER | Graphics.BOTTOM);does not work, I could try all different variations of positions; Top, Bottom, Vcenter, Hcenter for both graphics and text and the text still won't center onto the image, absolutely centered.
Of course if Vcenter would work for text it'd probably do the job but that of course isn't allowed, in order for me to work around this at the moment I have to add a number to drawstring which looks like this.
g.drawString("text", x, y+textAdjust, Graphics.HCENTER | Graphics.BOTTOM);Of course this is useless if ported onto another phone with a different screen size.
Any help would be apreciated thanks.
Edited by: GLGunblade on Jul 27, 2010 7:41 AMThough before I go changing every image in my code (It's a lot of images), is there no way to just alter text placement or does it have to be the background image to fit the text? Not sure what you mean here... What do you mean by changing every image?
This simple calculation I have pasted in my previous post lets you position both text and image, so that their centers are aligned, which I think is what you want to achieve.
All you have to do is to establish the height of the image and the height of the text every time you paint them, which is just a matter of calling some APIs.

Symbol __mt_MasterFunction_: referenced symbol not found
I am trying to build a matlab s-function using Sun Studio 10 compilers. The program compiles but when I try to load it into matlab I get

This is a mixed Fortran and C program.
The fortran code is compiled with

The C code with

an elfdump of the mtsk library leads me to believe the __mt_MasterFunction_ is defined in that library.
How can I compile this so it will run in Matlab?

Math symbols not displaying in browser
I'm attempting to study for CLEP exams on Instacert's website and have encountered a problem with the math symbols not displaying correctly. I did the recommendations by the webmaster and tried Google Chrome, then Safari instead of Mozilla's Firefox, and I have downloaded the webmaster's suggested window's font (symbol.ttf), to no avail. He's not familiar with Apple at all, so he's no further help.
I have attached a screenshot of one of the pages not displaying the symbols correctly. As you can see, the math union and intersection symbols look foreign and some of the other math symbols are not correct in other web pages:Everybody, report preview problems to apple at:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
My biggest problem in preview 4.0 is it freezes while trying to view large images across four apple LCD's. Sometimes I see a gray screen. -
Hi there,
I have been using nokia maps on my E71, and I have updated to the latest version, which deleted the maps present on the phone. I now cannot load any maps onto it. While connected to my PC the maps application says that the maps on my phone are corrupt, but I cannot delete them, or load new ones. I have tried deleting the CITIES folder, and deleting the qf file, but get the same error. I also reinstalled ovi suite on my PC, same error. I cannot uninstall the maps app on my phone. Any ideas how to sort this?
Thanks in advance!
Tim
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi All,
I hit this problem on my N82 as well (yesterday) after I reinstalled OVI Maps 3.01.
To workaround (got this from ovikovi), I did the following:
1. Close OVI Suite. Note that OVI Suite will take some time to close; you can verify if it is fully closed using Windows Task Manager. In the mean time, you can move on to the next step.
2. Detach the mobile from your computer.
3. On your mobile, go to file manager and rename the "cities" directory and "qf" file.
4. On your mobile, launch OVI Maps. Close OVI Maps a few moments after it is fully launched. Wait for it to be fully closed; it can take up to tens of seconds on my N82.
5. After checking that OVI Suite is fully closed (as per step 1), launch it back up.
6. After OVI Suite is fully loaded, attached your mobile as "PC Suite" mode and then retry after OVI Suite attaches to it. If it works, you can remove the renamed directory and file on step 3.
@John: Note that I am not sure how this will impact the preloaded map.
Hope this works for you folks, as it had worked for me. Good luck.
Cheers. -
Old Google maps and satellite images :(
Has anybody else noticed that the Google maps and satellite images are out of date. Specifically, the map and satellite image at my location both show a hospital which has been GONE for more that 10 years!
Song, that doesn't always work. Glad yours does!
It depends on what servers Google is routing your through, where you live, what satellite towers your picking up, what towers you are connecting to, etc.
I can tell you, at this very moment, I am looking at my house online on Google maps, and on my iPhone, and they are different images. I don't know which is newer, which is older -- my pool cover is on in one photo, my pool cover is off in the other photo. They might be taken in the middle of the summer on two separate days -- they could be taken years apart.
Sometimes, I see the local Whole Food built about 4 years ago up the street from me. Sometimes it shows a construction site in that location.
But at this very moment, I am looking at two different maps. It has always been my experience that is the case - even with older Windows Mobile smartphones, and with a Blackberry. Sometimes the images match, and sometimes they do not. It clearly indicates different data bases that they are accessing. -
Specified Host Directory does not map to your Site Address
I have defined my site using ftp in the Dreamweaver site definitions and I can connect to it and upload changes with no problem. I am now trying to setup InContext editing capability to the site. When I go thru the steps to add a site in the InContext Admin section, the first steps in the process work fine. I am able to fill out the ftp settings with my username and password and when I test the settings it comes back that it is able to connect to the site. The next step is where I run into problems. When I try to add the assets I get an error that says "The Specified Host Directory does not map to your Site Address". I can use the same username and password with an ftp Client program and I have complete access to the root folder and all the files in it. I have used exactly the same Host DIrectory in both my Dreamweaver Remote Setup and in InContext Admin. Why does it work with Dreamweaver uploads and it can not be used to register in InContext?
My site is www.sonautosales.com and my root folder is defined as /www.sonautosales.com/
I have included a screenshot of the error message.Hi Corey:
I just went thru the entire thread trying all the suggestions but
still no luck. The closest I come to getting this registered is using
the following settings.
ftp host: ftp.prioritysalesandservice.com
Passive ftp: unchecked
Username: prioritysales
Password: **** (I do not mind sending you the password if it will
help you solve my problem)
This tests good all the time.
Host Directory: /www.prioritysalesandservice.com/ (This is the folder
name that contains my website and in it is the index.html page)
Image Directory: Images/ (the folder name inside the host
directory that contains my images)
Default Page: Default.htm Default.asp index.html index.htm index.php
index.cfm
I think the host directory I am using because when I put that in and
then use the browse button to find the Image directory it shows all
the files and folders in my Host directory
The website address is: www.prioritysalesandservice.com
Please let me know anything else you need, again I have tried all the
things mentioned in the thread and by using these settings I get the
following error when I save:
The specified Host Directory does not map to your Site Address (URL)
THe "/www.prioritysalesandservice.com/" host directory could not be
accessed through this Site Address (URL):
Thanks for you help, hope you can figure it out.
Steve
