Symbol problem

Help! I have just downloaded the new update v 5.0.0.411 on my BB 8900 and I have lost my full stop, comma and @ symbols from my keyboard! Very frustrating when trying to compose messages!! Can anyone help?

A simple reboot first: With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Now, check again if those keys work.
What do you mean you've "lost"? Obviously the keys with those characters are present on the keyboard... do you mean that if you tap the period, comma or @ symbol, nothing happens?
What if you try to use the corresponding alternative character on those keys... works or not?

Xerces cannot find symbol problem

In my program I get an Xml from an exist database and want to place it in the hard drive.
I have made the xerces imports I need:

Neither really,
GrammarWriter.OutPutFormat is the name of the class,
GrammarWriter$OutPutFormat.class is the file into which the class is stored.
As to you problem the error messages you posted referred to
C:\.....\Wizard1.java:2946: cannot find symbol
symbol : constructor OutputFormat(org.w3c.dom.Document)
location: class org.apache.xerces.domx.XGrammarWriter.OutputFormatnote dom*x* and XGrammarWriter ,
this is not the same as dom.GrammarWriter...

Symbol problems and fonts

Hi all!
I have been plagued with a problem when trying to use symbols and think I have figured out what it is:
Custom Fonts not loading!
I'm using two custom fonts in my symbols and sometimes when I upload the project to the web, the fonts are not showing in the project symbols. They ARE uploaded correctly.
The following also seems to happen almost ALL the time (I think it is 100% of the time):
1. I have my symbols in my currently working page loaded into edge and all works as it should, both inside Edge as well as when loading the current page into a browser from Edge.
2. I create a new page and save it to the SAME directory folder as the original working page.
3. I set the stage to the same size as the working page, then "import" the symbol.
4. The font in question is showing automatically under "fonts" and is showing under the "text" drop down to the left in Edge correctly for the selected texts.
5. From here on out, the custom font DOES NOT SHOW in Edge, nor when I try to test in a browser from Edge!
This, of course, is throwing a lot of stuff off in the symbol that has driven me crazy trying to figure out what was happening! wherever the font is used in the symbol, most of the text is too big and causing havoc with the design (wrapping, not being hidden" as it should until the appropriate time, etc...). Until I figured this out, I was even rebuilding entire symbols just to try and fix a problem that I wasn't even aware what it was!
So, obviously, my question is - How to resolve this?
I have ONE working page (and a lot of copies!). Several of these symbols were created to be used elsewhere as well but since everytime I try and load them into a new page they fall apart, I'm in a jam :-)
Has anyone else run into this or have any ideas as to how to resolve this?

ok, I stand before you, head bowed in humiliation, begging for your forgiveness :-)
I'm not sure what is going on but I found the font problem (or at least it seems so).
Somehow (and I don't know how but I think I've been "duplicating the same folder content each time I start a new page to test and make changes (since the problem, I have been scared to touch anything that WAS working).
Well, it seems that the "duplicated" folder was missing my "CSS" folder in every one!
That explains why, even though the fonts and all the settings in Edge showed everything as being correct - they were; all except the CSS page that loaded the fonts!!!
Again, I humbly apologize - I really do try and find the problem BEFORE posting here; this one just eluded me :-)

Crystal Reports Currency Symbol Problems

Hi
I have a report that displays a currency field. I have formatted this field to display a custom currency symbol ( 'R' in my case). The report runs fine on my machine but as soon as upload it to our server the currency sysmbol changes to '$'.
What am i doing wrong?

We didn't solve this yet. İt is so important for us.
We have run on WMVare windows 7 sql server 2008, visula sd 2010 framework 4.0 crytal report viewer 13.7.
Until now it run on std server and our local it is not problem. But now we are run on WMVare it doesn't show true sysbol.

Currency Symbol Problem on Unix

I am having a problem with the Currency Symbol display on a Unix Environment. The java code was done on a NT environment and was displaying correctly with the "$" symbol preceding the number. However when I moved this to the unix environment, instead of the "$" symbol I now instead get "�" this symbol in its place. Below are some parts of the code to illustrate. I am new to java so I can't figure out why the currency symbol wont display. Any suggestions?

Archck Unresolved snd symbols problems [solved]

Been gone for 2 weeks, come back, and BAM -- new kernel patchset, new DEVFS-free kernel version, new ati-drivers... lots to do.
Anyhow, I've installed kernel26archck from [community], and everything's running fine except for sound. I'm getting alot of unresolved symbols now, whereas everything worked fine with the old kernel26cko from [community]. Pulling them from my messages.log:

These errors occur over and over again - causes the lshwd daemon to take a long time to finish.
I've searched the forum, can't see a topic about this yet, so I hope I'm not re-posting a problem that's already been brought up. Any advice would be very helpful, since now I don't have sound in this kernel.

I had the same issue when I installed Kernel 2.6.13-archck1.
Also my ipw200 module did not load. So I booted into archck1 and installed ipw2200 from the tar.gz and then also ran 'alsaconf' to setup the sound card.
Rebooted and, presto everything is working fine again.

Log symbol problem

hi- i have n85 and it always shows the mobile symbol in the log- i want to know if there is a way to solve this problem? and also is this problem solved in n97 or not?

Animation/Symbol problem

Hi,
Im new so please forgive me, Im having a problem with
creating a cyclic animation for a comedy horse. I want to create
the animation, with its own timeline and import that to the stage,
where i can then animate the self contained clip across the stage.
So, ive got a blank stage, inserted an empty symbol (movie
clip), then in symbol editing mode ive created my animation
completely from movie clip symbols... breath...
So when i return to the empty stage, i import my animated
symbol and if i double click it, i can see my animated frames. Back
to stage, insert frames on my timeline and motion tween between
them, and...... nothing. My animation simply '' tweens'' across the
stage, but without the original moving body parts.
Ive also tried another method, where I created the animation
using lyers of symbols for the seperate elements, and then tried to
create an animated symbol from those layers and prserve the
animated features when i put it onto a new stage.
Im obviously going about this the wrong way, can anyone help?

The animation of the horse moving its legs should be a
movieclip symbol. This symbol can contain a series of frames where
each frame shows the body parts slightly different from the next
frame, like a film strip or a book where you doodle in the corner
of each page and then flip thru them to see movement. The pieces
within each frame can be symbols or simply drawn elements. You
should be able to place this on the stage, select Control ->
Test Movie and see it animating in place.
The animation of that movieclip symbol moving across the
stage could be a tweened animation, where you place the symbol at
one end of the stage in the first frame, and then another instance
of it at the other end of the stage for a frame somewhere down the
timeline and add a motion tween to the first frame.
As long as you are then selecting Control -> Test Movie,
you should see the horse galloping across the stage.
If that's what you think you have, then something got missed,
so what you might try is to make something much simpler and get
that working first, such as a square spinning. You don't need to
use a symbol for the individual frames, you can just draw a square
and for each frame have it rotated 45 degrees.

Flash CS5 symbol problem

I am having a problem with symbols in Flash CS5.
In the library I have several graphic symbols which contain keyframed animation. When I save, close and reopen the project some of the symbols have been duplicated and saved as movie symbols with the same name but they are empty (they contain no keyframes). The original graphic symbols are empty also but when I double-click them in the library the keyframes are restored. However on one occasion the keyframes were not restored and I lost a lot of animation.
Has anyone experienced the same thing? Can anyone help fix the problem?

Stubborn Unresolved External Symbol Problem.

   Developing on Win8.1 Pro, Visual Studio 2010, C++, WIN32 no MFC.
   Here is a weird one. I must be doing something really stupid.
   I've been adding code to a massive project for years. It was 100,000 lines of code when I checked a couple of years ago, and is growing.
   The application's static library has over 200 ".cpp" source files, not counting the headers. It also relies upon a similar number of source modules from static libraries used by other applications.
   Yesterday builds started generating this error, formatted to make it easier to understand:

   I tried a few things. When I commented out the call to run_contact_import_from_menu() the application built without a problem.
   I wasn't even working on that part of the application.
The usual solution:
   I've seen unresolved external symbol errors before of course. It usually means I've changed the function's arguments without updating the function's forward declaration in a header, and I haven't updated a call to the function elsewhere
in the code. The first thing I did was copy the interface from the function's definition in a "cpp" file:

      typedef botan_utilities::EAX_CTR_THREAD_CRYPTO_RECORD EMAIL_THREAD_CRYPTO_RECORD;
   For testing, I slapped that typedef in front of the function's forward declaration and the function's definition. Compiles fine, same link error.
This seems to be the only unresolved external
   After #ifdef-ing out the call to this function, this application with it's thousands of calls to thousands of different functions built just fine, and ran as expected.
Is the module's C++ file being processed?
   This function isn't being found in tfa_contact_import.cpp, where it lives. What happens when I comment out other function definitions in this C++ file?
   Now I get a whole bunch of "error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol" errors. Other functions in that file are being referenced, and found. And missed if they are absent.
   Is it positional? run_contact_import_from_menu() is the first function defined in the file. Moving it to the end of the file gets me the same error.
   I create a new C++ file with the "Add New Item" to the app's library, just for this function. Same error.
   I change the function's name to "run_contact_import_from_menu_x". New name, same error.
   I'm missing something really basic, really obvious. Can someone tell me what it is?

   For some reason my first reply to your post went missing.
   No problem. I didn't understand the dumpbin options when I posted it.
   So now I have an output of dumpbin run with the /SYMBOLS option.
   It's pages and pages of stuff. The decorated names I've seen so far seem to be the function names followed by "@" signs and other text, so I think I can identify the functions.
   The unresolved external function name, "run_contact_import_from_menu" is nowhere to be found in any text of the dumpbin output. The second function in the source, "populate_individual_contact_import_vector" can be found
at 9 places in the output, as part of these decorated names.
   Another function in the same .cpp file was also represented in the dumpbin output.
   I have some obligations tonight. Tomorrow, Saturday, I'll try to create a stripped down version of the C++ file that I can present as both a source and dumpbin output in a form small enough to show here. I don't know enough
about dumpbin to predict how successful that effort will be, but I can snip the source to the function interface definitions and return values.

Layers & Symbols problem

In CS4 I used to be able to drag a symbol from the symbol pallete, break the link, and with a tiff placed behind, easily make a clipping mask.
Now in CS5 it seems like whenever I use a new symbol and break the link it places it on a different layer (it doesn't say that it's a different layer but it uses a different color to show the guides as if it were on a different layer & when I go into the symbols palete the color to the left of the groups or layers within a layer is a different color). When I try to create a clipping mask with something on a different "layer", it doesn't work. The only way I can seem to get it to clip what I want is to go into the Layer's options & go to Flatten Artwork & then ungroup it. This is very time consuming. I know that I can now use the draw inside option to place the tiff into the former symbol, but this is a lot slower then how I used to do this.
So I guess my question is this: Is there any way when I break the link to a symbol to keep it from being put on a new "layer"? Or is there any way in general to keep there from being seperate "layers" within a layer?

I am surprised that no one else on the web seems to be complaining about this problem. All of the other 3 artists in my art department hate these new changes to the Layers palette. Perhaps we unlink symbols more then other people. Another issue I have found with the new "layers" is that if I have a symbol that I've broken the link for and it is part of a design, if I select the whole thing and try to copy it, it's copy stacks things in a different order. Again, the only way I've found to fix this is to go into the layer's pallete and select flatten artwork. It's frustrating especially because in the layer's pallete it says that everything is on the same layer, it just acts like it's on a different layer.

Matchcode symbol problem

am displaying the date field in the selection-screen .., am able to display the calendar by pressing F4 in the select-options ,,,,but the problem is am unable to display matchcode-symbol ( round symbol ) for that date field ..,
am using: l_date type datum,
l_date type sy-datum,
l_date type erdat,,,,,,,but none of these options are displaying matchcode symbol ,,..
but am able to display calendar by pressing F4 on the date field.
pls. help me solving out this issue which will be able to display matchcode symbol

Regional symbol problems using precalculation server ?

BI server OS - AIX v6.1
BI - Netweaver v7.0
Precalc server OS - Windows 2003 SP2.
Precalc service - v7 patch 5
SAPGUI - v7.20 patch 8
Running precalculation server to generate excel report.
"SAP BW Precalculation Service Multi Instance" service logs on as prec1 windows user. Report generated this way contains wrong national symbols.
But if I log on interactively on precalculation host using prec1 and do report generation using BI analyzer - I get right regional symbols.
prec1 is windows local user and member of administrators group.
any ideas ?

A resolve symbol problem unique to my computer

Hi. I'm taking a java class, and when the teacher compiles certain programs (those using savitchIn, if you know about that) they compile correctly. When my computer does it, I get a "cannot resolve symbol" error. Whenever I use classes(ie savitchIn), it happens. Has anyone here dealt with this before, and can you help me out? Any help would be appreciated, as I have a project due tomorrow that I cannot finish! Thanks.

error.Just a thought here -- a Java class is likely to teach that class definitions (and the filenames they're contained in) are normally made to start with a capital letter.
If you have a SavatchIn class, it won't work if you refer to it as a savatchIn class. Otherwise, as Daniel points out, you simply do not have that class available to the Java environment on your machine.

Although I recognise the attraction (and have myself fallen for it even in my professional life) of waiting for the last possible minute before tackling certain types of problem, you do not now have the option of talking to your teacher about whether you are expected to have all the supporting classes you need or are supposed to write them yourselves.
If you can't get an extension for this assignment, may I suggest that your (insert most likely family member here) "wiped over the disk", "changed my password" or "took the PC to work/school with them" in order to engender teacher sympathy. (These are first-thing-in-the-morning excuses, there are plenty of others to choose from).

I am trying to use gcc 2.95.3 on a SPARC UltraAX-i2 to compile opensource software like openssl, openldap etc.
(gcc -m32)
The daemons / programs itself seems to be running fine but when having a closer look to the created libraries with ldd -r libxxx.so there are a lots of symbol not found messages appearing.
I wonder why this happens !?
I also used the binutils package from sun to use GNU's ld. But than I couldn't for example start up apache because of symbols not found. When de-installing the binutils package apache-1.3.20 starts up again but the library mod_env.so is still broken.
What's up ? How can I compile opensource software properly without symbol not found messages ?
I saw in the archives that there are a lot of people with the same problem but I never read an answer to theses problems. Perhaps I am blind, desperate man...

use --enable-rule=SHARED_CORE with your ./configure options
you do really have to use GNU ld to compile apache otherwise you cannot get some params passed to your cgis by mod_setenv.

Having Problem with using JUnit...causes "cannot resolve symbol" problems..

Hello, say i have a class
A
that contains an object of class B.
Now there's class X...
It's all fine and dandy trying to compile them both until i try to set the classpath for junit, by doing:
set classpath=%classpath%;C:\junit3.8.1\junit.jar
i'm pretty sure it's correct...
well once i type in this line into my command prompt (win 2k), the junit package now seems to be recognized by class X, which is my testing class that contains an object of class A.
but NOW class A can't find class B and i get a cannot resolve symbol error. Same goes for class X not being able to find class A.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm a newb to this :( . Thanks.
