Symbols show instead of text in itunes (menu items only)???

Hi can anyone help me please? My itunes is suddenly showing square like symbols instead of text, does anyone know how to fix this please?

Whats happened is somehow the itunes program language settings was changed from english to another language thats not installed on your PC, therefore nothing but squares show (Usually some asian language like chinese). I will try to direct you on how to change it back to english even tho you can not read it.
1) Open itunes and at the top where you would normally see File,Edit,View ect ect. Goto the second listing from the lefthand side (This is edit) then on that menu pick the last thing at the bottom (This is preferences)
2) Select the first tab from the lefthand side (General tab) and at the bottom where you see a dropdown menu is the Language section.
3) Open the dropdown menu and select the 5th listing down (This is english)
4) At the bottom righthand corner where you would normally see "OK" and "Cancel", pick the first button from the lefthand side (This is OK)
5) Now for the language to take you need to close itunes, then reopen it

  • ITunes menu items grayed out

I've had this happen with previous versions of iTunes and now with the most recent version of iTunes (running OS 10.7.2) all the iTunes Menu items are all grayed out, as well as all the other iTunes menues, with less than a hand full of commands availabe. Since the Quit iTunes is one of the options grayed out I've had to force quit iTunes and even after a relaunch the menu items continue to be grayed out. In search the Apple Communities for this subject I found references to this problem going back to 2008 and no one has offered a solution. One of the suggestions was to run Disk Utility and repair permissions, which I have done and it didn't solve the problem, but I hadn't restarted iTunes which I again did by force quitting, and on relaunch all the options are back working as they should. Not sure if repairing the permissions had any effect on iTunes as none of iTunes permissions were repaired, just scanner and printer permissions.

I have this same problem and it's very annoying.
What happens is this: I'll be happily editing my library when, after an edit, it suddenly becomes impossible to select "Get Info" to edit tracks. The menu item is grayed out and Command-I just gives a warning beep.
At this point, it is also impossible to Quit iTunes as that menu item is also grayed out and Command-Q also gives a warning beep.
One thing I have found is that I can still quit iTunes by right-clicking on the dock icon, obviating the need for a force quit.
Another symptom: the iTunes dock icon is constantly jumping up for things that it didn't used to jump for.
I've tried deleting the preference file. I haven't tried moving the library and library.xml files and rebuilding them, mostly because I've got 380GB of music on an Airdisk and it would take an eternity to rebuild the library.
I'm really fed up with this and have no idea what to do.
For what it's worth, the behavior started on my old machine running Snow Leopard and has continued after a clean install (albeit with iTunes information copied over) on a new machine running Lion (now 10.7.3).

  • ITunes menu items

I installed Snow Leopard and I'm not able to use ANY of the menu items in iTunes. Even to quit I have to do so from the Dock. I've been having the same problem with non-Apple apps but I didn't expect any problem with Apple apps after installing 10.6. Any thoughts?

    Hi,
I have the same problem but it only seems to be in iTunes. I have had it working temporarily and seemed to coincide with removing the itunes cache.db file and a goog-phish-shavar.dat file (seems to be a google safe search file but not sure why it's in there) but after restarting the app it stopped working again. I also don't have any contextual menus, they just don't appear.
My system and iTunes are all up to date (iTunes 9.02). It must be due to something in my user account as iTunes works fine in other accounts on my MBP.

  • How to show an arrow sign in the menu item area?

    Hello,
Want to show an arrow sign which points to the right and represents the right direction shortcut key in a menu item area. In the "NewMenuItem()" , if specifing 'VAL_RIGHT_ARROW_VKEY' as the shortcut parameter, it just shows the word "Right" not what I expected the arrow sign.

  • Missing Text and Blank Menu Items

I'm using the UK English version of Windows 8 64bit.
The Creative Cloud Desktop app seems to suffer from a number of blank labels and menu items.
    Here's the main menu:
By trial-and-error, I can find the prefences option, which presents me with this:
My guess is that this is some kind of localization issue.
I've tried reinstalling Creating Cloud, but hte problem remains.
    Any ideas?

I found a solution to this, in case anyone is seeing the same problem.
As I had suspected, the problem appears to be an isuse with a bad localization file. The trick is to remove the bad localization file.
    Navigate to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\ACC\resource\Dictionary
In there, you should see a folder "en_try". Rename this to something else, eg "en_try.blah". This means the app will now fall back to using en_US.
I have no idea what en_try is, or why it's being used in preference to en_US, but this seems to fix the problem.

  • Keyboard shortcut for Sub Menu item Only works AFTER using it

I have a Custom MOVE TO READ Mailbox shortcut. This is a SUB Menu item.. MESSAGE/Move To/READ FOLDER.
It is really sweet to clear out my INBOX and save emails.
So, what is ODD is that that menu has to be Clicked on and shown each time MAIL is run for that keyboard shortcut to work.
I find that Odd and would love to have it work without having to "train" it everyday.

  • Cannot get highlight color on menu items (only submenu items).

I am having a problem with the highlight color when I move over a vertical menu item.  You can see what I mean by going to:
    http://www.staging-area-1.com
If you move the focus over the "Questions" sub-menu item I get the blue highlight, with white text.  BUT if I move over any other menu items (Services, About us or Contact us) I simply cannot get the blue highlight.
Can someone tell me which cdd property I need to change to get this?
    Thanks.

It is because you'r overriding the background color with an image in the following
    ul.MenuBarVertical a.MenuBarItemHover, ul.MenuBarVertical a.MenuBarItemSubmenuHover, ul.MenuBarVertical a.MenuBarSubmenuVisible
         background-color: #33C;
         color: #FFF;
         background-image: url(../images/filler.gif);
Remove the background image and all is well.

  • Itunes doesn't seem to synch "wirelessly" with my iphone.  It seems to work with emails but not photos / videos I've taken on my phone.  Also, there is no "device" listed on itunes menu bar, only when connected via cables

My computer / iTunes is set up correctly for wireless (account info. all good), and emial is synched wirelessly.  BUT not photos / videos or songs.  I seem to have to plug my iPhone into my computer for iTunes to recognize my device.  Shouldn't iTunes recognize my iphone wirelessly?  For example, I have read that "device" should show up in menu bar on iTunes but it doesn't unless I'm cabled in.
Also, when I go to my iPhone to "synch wirelessly with iTunes", the button / tab doesn't light up for me to chose and tells me will synch when "smith - laptop" is available.....
This is my first iPhone, and just got it so may be user error.....

  • How to adapt text size of menu items ?

    Hello,
I am a new Flash 8 user and I am trying to customize a
"accordion menu". My code first loads a XML document and then
writes the different titles (of different length) in dynamic text
    boxes.
Can you explain me what code I should write to be sure that
each title is entirely visible (even if it is very long) ? Should I
define a text format and use "autosize"...?
I join you the beginning of my code where the problem lies.
    Thank you for your help.

use the autoSize and multliline properties of your
textfields. you need only do this once on etiquette's timeline if
all the textfields are to have the same properties.

  • How to change the default text "There are no items to show in this view" in the visual webpart

    Hi,
I am using a visual webpart and in that if there are no items in the list it is showing the default text "There are no items to show in this view." I want to change this default text.
I checked the forums here there are multiple ways are shown but no one is working for me.
Kindly help me to change this text.
    Thanks in advanced.

It seems you're retrieving items inside a specific you.. why not having a <div> inside you're visual web part and check to see if the count of items retrieved is > 0 then insert that in the div, otherwise, insert your custom message and not rendering
the web part itself. What you're describing is the default message from SharePoint which comes from default views, and this can be changed from xslt in SP 2010 or in JSLink in SP 2013, here's a link how to do so in JSLink :
    http://www.idubbs.com/blog/2015/jslink-csr-to-override-there-are-no-items-to-show-in-this-view/ .
But as said, since you're doing a visual web part, keep your stuff in the visual web part and check for the count of items before adding the rendered data to your div.

  • Is it possible to "drop shadow" on text inside menu items?

    As in subject

    Hi n-dimension,
Currently, the only way in Muse to get a drop shadow on a text (including the text in the menu items) is using a System Font (which means we rasterize it into an image) and setting no fill color on the Text Frame.
Please let me know if that worked.
    Thanks,

  • Manual menu shows two active menu items on one page

Hi--I'm having an issue where a manually-created menu shows two active menu items on the same page (as if two pages were active at the same time).
You can see the issue on my test site here:
    http://teknationnewsite.businesscatalyst.com/telecommunications-services.html
On the left hand menu, even though only the Telecommunications Services page is active, the menu shows an active state for the menu item below it also. How can I fix this? The states look like they are created correctly in the states panel.
    Thanks,
    Jennifer

Okay, never mind. I am an idiot. It was a linking issue. I can't figure out how to delete this thread, however, so just please ignore.

  • IE reversing order of spry menu items

I've created a horizontal spry menu bar, and it works great except for one problem. When I open my page in Internet Explorer, the order of menu items from left to right is reversed. For example, "Home", which is my first item in the menu, is supposed to appear on the left, but instead it appears on the right. The menu bar itself is in the correct position, it's just the menu items that are reversed. When I open the page in Firefox or Safari, the order is correct - it's just an IE problem. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks Ben, here's the code. I was doing some experimenting, and I changed the float property under ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE to "right" instead of "left" as it is shown below. This caused the menu items to appear in the correct order, but it also caused the sub-menu items to appear in a horizontal line below the menu, when in fact they should be hidden until you hover over the corresponding item in the main menu. So I traded one problem for another! Any help would be much appreciated.
To see how it`s rendering, visit http://www.leagueheadquarters.com/RAB. If you look at it in Firefox, you`ll see how it`s supposed to look, and in IE you`ll see the menu items reversed.

  • Adding A Separate Background Image For Each Menu Item

I asked this in the Spry forum, and not sure I understand the answer. Plus, I should have been more specific in asking how to do it, as I'm still pretty new to this stuff. Nothing I'd found indicated it could be done, or how.
    Org question -
I know you can apply a background image to the menu bar items, but is it possible to add a background image for each individual item? What I'm basically trying to keep are the effects (bevel/emboss, etc.,) that I attached to the text, when I created it in PS CS4.
    Answer -
Yes you can. The widget is just normal plain html markup so you can just add other classNames or id attributes to the elements. And style the elements through those classes/ids.
Does this mean I'd have to write a new rule for each menu item? What?
    Thank you.

Did an Adobe Tutorial for creating/entering a Spry Menu Bar. This is the HTML, after I took out the submenus.
    <ul id="MenuBar1" class="MenuBarHorizontal">
          <li><a href="news.html">Features</a></li>
          <li><a href="news.html">News</a></li>
          <li><a href="news.html">Fashion</a></li>
          <li><a href="news.html">Lifestyle</a></li>
          <li><a href="news.html">Calendar</a></li>
        </ul>
This is from the SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css (It seems like I need to make changes in the Design Info section of this code. But nothing I've tried has worked):
/* The outermost container of the Menu Bar, an auto width box with no margin or padding */
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal

  • No Deactivation Menu Item?

I want to move Dreamweaver CS3 to a new computer. I want to
deactivate the license on the old computer first. However, when I
click the Help menu, there are no Activate or Deactivate menu items
listed. The two menu items called Download e-license and Return
e-license are there but are grayed out.
Does anyone know how I should deactivate Dreamweaver CS3
since I appear to be missing the menu items. I already have the
product installed on 2 machines (per the license agreement) so I
think it will be important to deactivate this one before I install
    it on a 3rd machine.
    Thanks!

There is no iTunes menu item for photos. When you connect your iPhone in iTunes left sidebar (under "Devices") the main window will show the iPhone sync selections. Across the top of the window are sic tabs, each of which can be selected by clicking on them. They are Summary, Info, Ringtones, Music, Photos, Videos, and Applications. That's the photo tab you need to click.
See the picture on page 9 of the manual.
