Symlink Issue

Hi
I have recently upgraded a project from CFMX7 to CF8. The
problem I'm having is that I have a number of subdomains which are
setup. Each of these subdomains contains an Application file at the
root, and a folder called administration. This folder is a symlink
which has been setup which links to the physical files.
If I try and view a login.cfm page with the administration
folder (i.e.
http://test.domain.com/administration/login.cfm),
an error message comes up which says that my application variables
are not defined. This directory seems to have an issue locating the
Application file in the directory above. Has anyone experienced the
same error at all? I've read that CF8 has issues with symlinks.
Thanks for your help - it would really be appreciated!!
Aileen

It is a symlink.   The symlink is owned by the vim package.  As vim is a dep for gvim, that file is being managed by the package manager.
Saying I want to store a file there is like saying I want to store a text file at /bin/bash...   Sure you could, but do not expect bash to keep working.
So what exactly is your issue here?

  • Amavisd.conf vs. X-Spam-Status

    Hello, all--
I'm seeing lots of spam come through with a 'negative' score
    (X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-5.541, for example.)
I have amavisd.conf configured to tag at 1.4 and kill at 5.
1.4 seems quite aggressive, and I wouldn't feel comfortable going much lower. How is spam going to get caught when most of it is scoring way under 1.4---way under zero, for that matter? Any tips/insights greatly appreciated.
BTW, I am training SA nightly, using spamtrainer.
    Thanks very much--

  • [SOLVED] just did an update - seeing systemd related info from pacman

EDIT:   re-reading through the archlinux grub2 docs, I just saw this:  https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GR … _arguments    ... hoping that's all I have to do for a smooth reboot?
I just got done with major epic headaches dealing with the  'The /lib directory becomes a symlink' issue from 2012-07-14 - in fact I had to just freaking do a complete reinstall.  ( it went with no issues on one of my pc's, then when I later tried a major upgrade on my other pc, it all went to bloody hell )
... so, I _just_ got the other pc running via fresh install yesterday, and today I do a 'pacman -Syu'...  to get another ominous sounding warning of possible impending doom...
I'm concerned about the "Append 'init=/bin/systemd' to your kernel command line in your bootloader to replace sysvinit with systemd" :

Question #1: Will my system boot if I _don't_ add the "init=/bin/systemd" to my kernel command line in my bootloader?
Question #2: I'm using grub2 via bios MBR; yesterday when I installed the new system using the latest archlinux install iso, I generated the grub2 conf using the "grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg" technique... which build a crazy looking conf that looks more like a shell script than anything.  ( I'm used to editing the old grub1 config manually, and it made sense to me ).  So where the heck am I supposed to put this 'init=/bin/systemd' pragma?
    Assistance and advice much appreciated!

    Hi,
according to the mailing list they just merged libsystemd and systemd-tools to the systemd package. Since the initscripts are still present, you can leave it alone and it will boot as usual. The message is more like a friendly 'C'mon, we'll going to switch to systemd anytime soon, so just give it a try.'.
I haven't used grub2 for a while, but there should be a file called /etc/default/grub where you can add GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="init=/bin/systemd". Then regenerate the configuration via grub-mkconfig and you are good to go.
    Edit: Too late
Thanks for your time in responding though anyhow - much appreciated!   (c8=

  • (g)vim issue (replaces vim binary with symlink to vim-big)

Why does the installation of gvim replaces the binary (or not binary, or whatever it is, even if it is a text file, maybe i want to keep a text file at this location …) located at /usr/bin/vim with a symlink to /usr/bin/vim-big without asking the user to do so?

  • Issues deleting folders/files that contain links (symlinks or aliases)

    Hi All,
I have just run into a strange issue. I know that this will not affect many people but it somewhat strange behavior and is causing me issues with our new 10.4 server (just moving from 10.3).
Ok, so we have AFP. I mount a sharepoint from the server on my machine. I now copy, for example, the 10.4.10 Combo Updater for PPC clients. Once the copy has finished I now try to delete the file off the server (about 1-2 seconds after the copy has finished). The finder give an error that there are files in use and it can't delete the folder.
If you now wait for about 20 seconds and try and delete the folder it will work without issue.
This is what I have tried so far to pin this issue down:
    1) Spotlight is Off on the server (edited the hostconfig file)
    2) This happens on 10.4.10 Universal server, 10.4.10 Intel Client, 10.4.9 Intel Client and 10.4.10 PPC Client.
    3) It is not a permissions issue.
    4) Happens with or without acls
Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? It would seem that there is something happening server-side that is using the files.
    Thanks is advance,
    Ricky

No this is not a normal shared folder setup, If you are able to create or edit files on your usb drive then  you should be able to delete the files from the drive also. If you are unable to do it, then i would suggest you to upgrade the firmware of your Router. Once the firmware is upgraded on your router then reset your router and re-configure all the settings on your router from scratch.

  • Svn with Apache Timeout issue

    Hello Archers,
I've set up an svn Server with Apache folloing your wiki on my raspberry pi.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LAMP
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Subversion_Setup
Unfortunately I get errors when I try to commit several files (15 or so). I think it is a timeout issue, however I don't know where to specify the timeout in the httpd.conf (or httpd-ssl.conf)
This is a client error message:
    Commit failed (details follow):
    Unexpected end of svndiff Input
And this the corresponding server side log:

I assume it is some error like this: http://subversion.apache.org/faq.html#s … -truncated
I think I don't have specified the timeouts correctly, since I haven't found the default option.

    # SSL Engine Options:
    # Set various options for the SSL engine.
    # o FakeBasicAuth:
    # Translate the client X.509 into a Basic Authorisation. This means that
    # the standard Auth/DBMAuth methods can be used for access control. The
    # user name is the `one line' version of the client's X.509 certificate.
    # Note that no password is obtained from the user. Every entry in the user
    # file needs this password: `xxj31ZMTZzkVA'.
    # o ExportCertData:
    # This exports two additional environment variables: SSL_CLIENT_CERT and
    # SSL_SERVER_CERT. These contain the PEM-encoded certificates of the
    # server (always existing) and the client (only existing when client
    # authentication is used). This can be used to import the certificates
    # into CGI scripts.
    # o StdEnvVars:
    # This exports the standard SSL/TLS related `SSL_*' environment variables.
    # Per default this exportation is switched off for performance reasons,
    # because the extraction step is an expensive operation and is usually
    # useless for serving static content. So one usually enables the
    # exportation for CGI and SSI requests only.
    # o StrictRequire:
    # This denies access when "SSLRequireSSL" or "SSLRequire" applied even
    # under a "Satisfy any" situation, i.e. when it applies access is denied
    # and no other module can change it.
    # o OptRenegotiate:
    # This enables optimized SSL connection renegotiation handling when SSL
    # directives are used in per-directory context.

    # SSL Protocol Adjustments:
    # The safe and default but still SSL/TLS standard compliant shutdown
    # approach is that mod_ssl sends the close notify alert but doesn't wait for
    # the close notify alert from client. When you need a different shutdown
    # approach you can use one of the following variables:
    # o ssl-unclean-shutdown:
    # This forces an unclean shutdown when the connection is closed, i.e. no
    # SSL close notify alert is sent or allowed to be received. This violates
    # the SSL/TLS standard but is needed for some brain-dead browsers. Use
    # this when you receive I/O errors because of the standard approach where
    # mod_ssl sends the close notify alert.
    # o ssl-accurate-shutdown:
    # This forces an accurate shutdown when the connection is closed, i.e. a
    # SSL close notify alert is send and mod_ssl waits for the close notify
    # alert of the client. This is 100% SSL/TLS standard compliant, but in
    # practice often causes hanging connections with brain-dead browsers. Use
    # this only for browsers where you know that their SSL implementation
    # works correctly.
    # Notice: Most problems of broken clients are also related to the HTTP
    # keep-alive facility, so you usually additionally want to disable
    # keep-alive for those clients, too. Use variable "nokeepalive" for this.
    # Similarly, one has to force some clients to use HTTP/1.0 to workaround
    # their broken HTTP/1.1 implementation. Use variables "downgrade-1.0" and
    # "force-response-1.0" for this.

    # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
    # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the

    # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/access_log"
    # with ServerRoot set to "/usr/local/apache2" will be interpreted by the
    # server as "/usr/local/apache2/logs/access_log", whereas "/logs/access_log"

    # configuration, error, and log files are kept.
    # Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
    # ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to specify a local disk on the

Remember that Arch Arm is a different distribution, but we try to bend the rules and provide limited support for them.  This may or may not be unique to Arch Arm, so you might try asking on their forums as well.

  • Ubuntu 13.10 on a T440 - Wifi, Sound, Fingerprint reader and TrackPoint issues

I recently got my t440 and put Ubuntu 13.10 on it and have had a few problems pop up. Hopefully someone here can help, or I will find solutions and post here as things get working again.
Wifi - I have a Thinkpad  11b/g/n 2x2 wireless card. I do not believe there are currently Linux drivers provided for this card. According to thinkwiki, the 1x2 version of the card works with real tek's rtl8192se driver; I have tried to load it with modprobe, but it does not work for this card. There might be a solution to this with ndiswrapper, but I haven't been successful. I have ordered an intel wireless card to replace this one.

Sound - The sound works when ubuntu boots, but usually crashes shortly thereafter. There are some known sound issues with 13.04 and 13.10, but I haven't been successful stopped the problem with their suggestion.

    http://askubuntu.com/questions/361730/no-sounds-after-upgrade
Fingerprint reader - All previous thinkpads had AuthenTec fingerprint readers; this generation ships with Validity readers. Info on thinkwiki is describes installing fprint, but fprint does not recognize the validity reader. This post looks promising.
    http://www.tuxtrix.com/2012/05/how-to-activate-validity-fingerprint.html
TrackPoint - The trackpoint pointer works fine, but lenovo did away with the physical left/middle/right click buttons. The top on the touchpad can be pressed (in windows) for left/middle/right click, but I haven't gotten this functionality enabled in Ubuntu yet. Might be able to fix this in the xorg.conf file

Fingerprint reader- above links do not resolve the problem. fprintd and frprint-demo do not recognize the Validity fingerprint sensor. My issues are the same as described in this post.

  • [CLOSED] Weird mysql/php issue.

    Hi,
I am running an ArchLinux as my Server. It's a fresh install. I just configured nginx as my Webserver and then configured MySQL. I wanted to use phpMyAdmin as a manager. I installed it via wget and it worked fine. But all of a sudden it would not let me log in anymore. The log in screen just keeps on popping up, without any errors or anything. It tried reinstalling phpMyAdmin, I also tried the alternative chive. In chive I get the error "CDbConnection failed to open the DB connection." I really am at a loss here, has anyone else encountered a similar issue and can point me in the right direction?
Disclaimer: Please excuse my possibly poor english, as it is not my native language, also please excuse any questions that may sound noob-like, because I am quite new to Arch.

    config.inc.php should be in
    /etc/webapps/phpmyadmin
but the installation symlinks that file to
    /usr/share/webapps/phpMyAdmin
    where the installation is.
You'll have to add this directive in open_basedir @
    /etc/php/:/usr/share/webapps/
Also might need an alias in
    /etc/nginx/nginx.conf
    What I do is symlink
    ln -s /usr/share/webapps /srv/http/.webapps
/srv/http being my www directory I can visit mysite.com/.webapps/phpMyAdmin to access.
This can be a security issue, maybe allow only local access or use another mean of accessing the installation.
Also symlinking just the installation directory to a hidden directory precursed with '.' won't float, like mysite.com/.phpmyadmin

  • PSE 10 Install issue with Mac OS 10.6.8

    Hi,
I'm having trouble installing a copy of PSE 10 on a Macbook Pro (Intel 2.4 GHz) with Mac OS X version 10.6.8.  I've tried downloading the software twice and get errors on both copies.  Here is the latest error:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Barbara,
Thanks for the advice.  Unfortunately, it didn't work.  I deleted (and emptied the trash) of the Adobe folder in the Hard drive>library>application support folders, uninstalled the partial install of PSE 10 using Adobe's uninstall, turned off the antivirus software, and tried installing from a new administrative account.  Here is the error code from this most recent attempt.

This computer has had some previous Photoshop versions migrated to it over the years (Photoshop 4.0 for OS 9, and Photoshop 7.0).  Photoshop 7.0 stopped working after I upgraded the OS from Tiger to Snow Leopard, and I no longer have the disks or serial number so that is why I'm trying install PSE 10.  Could these old versions (which I tried to delete, but did not have a specific uninstall version for) be a source of this issue?  If so, is there a way to make sure they're all gone?
    Thanks

  • DVD burn fails on symlink

I'm trying to burn a DVD backup of a directory that contains some symbolic links to other directories, and the burn fails every time. If I drag the directory to the blank DVD, then try to remove the symbolic links from the burn folder, they actually get removed from the "real" folder! Does anyone know a way around this? At the very least, I need some way to gracefully get around having a symbolic link -- some way that doesn't involve creating a coaster, which so far is all I've been able to do.
EDIT: So, it looks like it wasn't the symlinks at all, but something more generally related to backing up the ~/Library folder, per this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/webx?128@@.68b7e70f. I have to say. I tried fixing permissions, but no luck, I just made my sixth coaster of the night trying to backup my own files. This is frankly ridiculous: Not only does the folder inexplicably avoid being burned, but it crashes the entire burn process, not at the point of preparation, but mid-burn.
Second, burning for me is slow, just 2X. I've seen a couple of recent threads on this issue, but they're with Rev B iMacs as I understand. I'm using a Rev. A, with the Pioneer DVR-KO4F. Is there any way to improve the speed?
    Thanks very much-
    -Alan

    Hi
It sounds as if it may be lack of free disk space, or lack of contiguous free disk space. How much do you have left on your main drive? Perhaps deleting some unwanted files would help.
If your drive is highly fragmented the DVD image may be scattered all over the disk, causing a buffer underrun, especially if you're running the burning software off the same drive. You can buy software to defragment it, although OS X defragments small files on the fly so it's not normally needed. Perhaps burning at a slower speed would give the drive time to keep the buffer full. Freeing up some disk space should also help though, so there's more contiguous free space available

  • I Receive Error DF015 Unable to delete symlink "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/APE/3.4/adbeapeco

    Hi,
I am having issues installing Extension Managger CC.  I receive the follwoing error when attempting to install Extension Manager:
    Exit Code: 7
Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR: DF015 ...
    -------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------
    - 0 fatal error(s), 1 error(s)
    ----------- Payload: Adobe Player for Embedding 3.4 3.4.0.0 {6E6ECFC9-FE3D-4314-B937-7E25A7862899} -----------
    ERROR: DF015: Unable to delete symlink "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/APE/3.4/adbeapecore.framework/Libraries"(Seq 4)
I don't know if the permissions on the file (and contents) are correct.  I noticed that they were pointing to a user that no longer exists.  I manually went in and made the owner and groups point to system, wheel and root and everyone, with all three having R+W access.
Are these the correct permissions?  I was thinking of using Adobe CC Cleaner but I didn't see anything that mentioned Extension Manager.  What would the APE 3.4 be called?
    What yould you recommend?
    Thanks,
    Rocky

Moving this discussion to the Creative Cloud Download & Install forum.
Rocky you are correct to determine this is a file permission failure which is causing the error.  Please see Error "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" | Install log | Read, write, system file errors | CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html for information on how to adjust the file permissions.
If you continue to fail with this update you may want to try applying the update in either a Root user account or a new administrator account to see if the same failure occurs.

  • Mavericks permission issues with Windows Server deduplicated shares.

We have a number of 10.9-10.9.3 - Mavericks - machines installed throughout our facility. Much of the user content is pulled from shares stored on our Windows Server 2012 fileservers with deduplication enabled. I have found that files newly written or unoptimized are able to be accessed without issue - read, written, modified, etc. Once the file gets optomized/deduplicated and Windows adds the P & L attributes - sparse and symlink - the Macs running Mavericks begin to have access issues.
Once the files get deduplicated, users begin receiving read access errors when copying files (see error1 below). This happens when copying to folders within the current folder tree or copying somewhere to the local system. If you 'stop' the copy operation and retry a few more times, it may eventually work for the specific instance but fail again later. I am however, able to copy these files without issue via the terminal.
Other systems running 10.7 do not experience the same issues and are able to access file server resources without issue. Many of the systems having issues are newer and thus not able to be downgraded to 10.8 or 10.7.
I have tried finder replacements such as Pathfinder but the results are the same. I know this is at least similar to the issues many Mac users are already experiencing and posting about but I haven't seen it directly linked to deduplication and the attributes written by Windows server. Has anyone seen this issue? Have any solutions been found?
    Error 1:
When copying files after the PL attributes have been set by deduplication.
"One or more items can't be copied to "Foler" because you don't have permissions to read them.
Via the system.log, I am also seeing the following error when accessing these deduplicated file shares. The reparse point tag listed below is "IO_REPARSE_TAG_DEDUP"
    Reported error:
    "smbfs_nget: filename.ext - unknown reparse point tag 0x80000013"

This is a 'known problem' as discussed on the MacWindows site, see http://www.macwindows.com/More-on-OS-X-conflicts-with-Windows-Server-Deduplicati on.html
It appears to still affect Mavericks 10.9.5 at least from the lack of any positive reports to the contrary. It is perhaps a bit late but it would have been worth signing up for the public beta of Yosemite and testing that and if needed reporting it as an issue for Yosemite as this will be getting more bug fix attention than Mavericks now.
I would agree turning off de-duplication is not a desirable solution, however other possibilities to consider are installing the standard Samba software on a Mac and using that instead of Apple's SMBx software. This is done by using the SMBup installer See http://eduo.info/2013/07/13/smbup-faq it does not officially list Mavericks but I did see at least one report that it still worked. A second possibility is to install ExtremeZ-IP which installs an AFP server on to your Windows Server and also gives the bonus of supporting Spotlight searches.
Note: You should only try SMBup on a test setup first.

  • Issue with Gtk3 apps in KDE4

I am also having this same issue with Ubuntu for some reason.
I recently got an arch Linux install up and going on my new laptop, but I am having one huge issue
I have the oxygen-gtk3 packages installed for both my Arch and Ubuntu install. Theoretically it should work, but for some reason my GTK3 apps aren't being themed in KDE4, they're using that redmond-like fugly default theme.
How might I fix this, I've tried everything from symlinking to compiling it again, nothing seems to work.
I suspect it might be an auto-start application to apply them that isn't working.

yngwin wrote:Is there any reason to use Gtk3 apps? Personally I find it easier to just stick with Gtk2 ones for now, since Gtk3 is still going through growing pains.
Well lets put it this way
I'm not gonna switch out Empathy for Pidgin (Pidgin stores passwords in plaintext in a easily accessible folder/file unless you needlessly use a kwallet plugin, which you shouldn't need to do.Empathy does not store said passwords in plaintext, and I believe it uses the Gnome Wallet).
Alot of programs got updated to gtk3, and require gtk3 themes. Guess how many gtk3 themes exist that aren't recolors/crappy edits of the default one...not a whole ton.
Ubuntu actually requires GTK3 now with Unity or even with Gnome. Alot of other distros will likely follow suit.
I could stick with GTK2 if Arch were still my secondary distro, but I now have a dedicated machine for Arch and I don't use it too often. I just tested the theme engine for oxygen-gtk3 on it to see if it worked, and like my Main Ubuntu/Debain Sid machine which I'm using the same problem with the Win98-esque theme on GTK3 apps in KDE occured.
I'm gonna try that fix you mentioned Teho, see if it works. It's obviously not a distro-specific problem.
Hawt damn Teho! Your solution worked like a charm! I could honestly hug you right now, you've fixed the last issue currently plauging both my Arch and Ubuntu installs. Thanks!
How do I change this topics prefix to solved?

  • SMB Symlinks Showing as 0kb on Windows PCs

Hello again everyone.  After my previous post on problems with wide symlinks and how to fix that finally resolved I now have another irritating issue I can't seem to put my finger on.
Seems that shares I have hosted off my Mac Pro over SMB are now randomly showing as 0kb files when I connect on windows machines.  The kicker is there is NO pattern (That I've found yet) to what files/folders show up as 0kb AND even though they are showing up as 0kb if its a file and I double click it it will actually open.  If its a folder Windows states that it doesn't know how to open it.  I've tried everything under the sun to try and fix this:
•Checking file permissions on my Mac
•Tried changing how drives are shared on my Mac
•Trying different user accounts on both mac and pc
•Trying LAN vs WAN smb access
•Trying on multiple different PCs with XP,Server 2008,and Win 7
•Trying a different directory / drive the symlinks are on
    •Remaking the symlinks
•Adjusting network card settings on both mac and pc (MTU, duplex, etc)
If I connect via SMB or AFP with another mac to my mac pro everything works fine.  Its only if I use Windows that this random behavior occurs.  Sometimes a folder with 600 symlinks will only show 5 folders as 0kb.  Sometimes it'll show half of them as 0kb and inaccessible.  Its completely random.  It just is so odd that the files that show as 0kb still open!  Its like Windows is not correctly mapping the symlink to the actual file.  None of this started happening until Lion was installed so I know it once again has something to do with the wonderful new Apple made Samba they are now using.  Not sure if I need to adjust some timeout variable in the com.apple.smbd.plist file or maybe a setting on windows IDK.
But I need all of your help again.  Anyone else experience this?  Try making a bunch of symlinks off a bunch of drives (like hundreds/thousands) and put them in one folder and share that folder out on a mac via SMB connecting to it from a Windows box.  Any of the symlinks show as 0kb?
Here is an example of what I'm talking about:
The files showing as 0k with a Cone will open in VLC as they are files.
The files showing as 0k with a generic windows icon are actually symlinks of folders and DO NOT open.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Verify that none of those files use characters in their filename that are not allowed for paths in Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/File-names-and-file-name-extens ions-frequently-asked-questions#
Alternately - make sure that there are no trailing spaces on any of the filenames - this has caused me some grief in the past.

  • Vim issues...meta keys and colorscheme not working correctly

The first issue isn't really a vim problem, but it's related.  When running Vim in a terminal, my meta key bindings don't work.  I've tracked it down to a problem with Xfce's Terminal as noted here: http://vimdoc.sourceforge.net/htmldoc/m … p-alt-keys
...but I'm not sure exactly how to fix it.  I suppose I could always switch to another terminal, but I'd like to stick with Xfce's version if possible.
The second issue is that my color scheme isn't being set when I first load up gVim.  As soon as I open a file, it properly displays, but the "splash" page doesn't show it.  I'm using desert (who doesn't) and this is what it looks like when I first load up gVim:
I did stop using a separate <code>.gvimrc</code> in favor of putting everything in my <code>.vimrc</code> file under a conditional, and all the other settings work just fine.  Here's what that conditional looks like:
    if has( "gui_running" )
    set columns=84 " Set the window's width
    set lines=43 " Set the window's height
set guioptions-=T " Remove the toolbar from the window
    set guifont=Terminus 12 " Use a clean monospaced font
    colorscheme desert
    else
    set background=dark
    colorscheme desert
    endif
In case you're curious, here's my entire <code>.vimrc</code> file.

    Try symlinking ~/.vimrc to ~/.gvimrc
That solved the problem for me. Thanks
