Sorry guys I did not want to post but I am getting nowhere.  I have used all the configs that wiki has suggested and disabled all that is suggested here http://andreascarpino.it/2010/04/xorg-1 … iguration/ and a few others on the forum (using second one down as current synpatics).
Any help is greatly appreciated.  The touchpad worked on all previous versions of Xorg mainly with hal.

Thanks for the response.
I am using dwm, I have found the mouse is actually invisible instead of not working.  I have tried to rollback my kernel with no success unfortunately too many deps for other programs.  I have also tried to rollback xorg with again no luck keeps saying evdev is a conflict when it's uninstalled.
I have also tried fbdev and vesa but both make my screen go but I can see the mouse in all the fuzzyness.

    Hello,
A couple days ago, the touchpad on my TouchSmart m6 sleekbook stopped working with no apparent cause.

  • [Solved] Synaptic Touchpad not working

Today, I noticed my touchpad no longer works. Whether the mouse is plugged in or not, moving my fingers on the touchpad will not get the cursor to do anything. At least two USB mouses do work, however. Device manager says that driver is ok. I uninstalled anyways; the Toshiba site for my laptop gave me the old driver to d/l, which I did and installed. Rebooted, and still same problem.  I used the flash card and pressed Fn+F9. It has the touchpad as enabled. Any suggestions?

The only other thing we can do that you've maybe not done without going for a full recovery is try the driver shown below which is probably the OEM one you have . However, try it anyway. Uninstall the current one using Control Panel and then download and install this one:       L740 Synaptics Driver C.B. P.S. Please double check this part of the model number:  <ES5.0>. I've never seen anything like that. And is this a Mexico or Latin America machine by any chance?

  • MacBookPro Upgrade to 10.4.10 - Keyboard/Mouse/Touchpad Not reconized

    Hi all-
I have a very strange problem with my MBP. I've just come back from Europe, so I decided to upgrade my system to 10.4.10 and the security upgrade from june/july (I don't really remember).
The installation went smoothly, except ONE BIIIIG problem.
After the reboot, my OS doesn't reconize anymore my Keyboard/touchpad or even my external mouse. In fact, it seems that nothing is powered anymore. The caps lock button doesn't light.
I tried to boot on the backup DVD and repair autorization. There my keyboard and my mouse are working.
I'm using now my Vista bootcamp partition. Keyboard/mouse and touchpad working perfectly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my work laptop (it's why I waited so long to upgrade, to be sure).

I am experiencing a Bluetooth linking problem with my Titanium PB, using a D-Link DB-120 adapter, and my Logitech MX900 mouse. Oddly enough, the Logitech Cordless Elite keyboard works fine with my system. Only the mouse fails to link (it pairs just fine). Like other people on this forum, the linking problem developed in the upgrade from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4.
The mouse cannot link automatically. I have that sometimes unplugging the D-Link adapter causes the mouse to automatically link. Also, toggling discoverable off->on->off causes the mouse to link. Also, using the keyboard first will cause auto linking, and the mouse follows.
Trashing preferences, or leaving "discoverable" in a particular state has no effect on the linking problem. Rather, a state change in "discoverable" seems to initiate linking. This may a caused by a coding bug at Apple, since nothing else has changed. Everything worked as expected under 10.4.3.
Hopefully Apple with fix this linking problem, and Logitech will market a 100% Apple compatible keyboard soon. Good gracious - their bluetooth keyboards are already 95% compatible - is the extra 5% that costly?

  • Touchpad not recognized on Asus Zenbook UX303LA

    Hello,
I recently purchased an Asus Zenbook UX303LA and just installed Arch on it today. So far everything has been working (display, wireless, audio), but I'm having some issues with the trackpad. It doesn't appear to be recognized correctly and is showing up as a PS/2 Logitech Wheel Mouse. I'm not sure how to find out what modules I need, or even what the logical next steps are in debugging. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm not sure what else would be of use for debugging, but I'm happy to try anything.

    Hi,
By now, the drivers have been merged into mainline linux. I got my zenbook ux303ln yesterday and decided to try it out. I've got some problems with it. The mouse cursor just stays in the middle of the screen and cannot be moved. I can click though. I got the kernel from the mainline AUR repo, version 4.0-rc3. Tested it both under gnome and cinnamon.
Has someone else got it working with the mainline kernel? Does anyone have some suggestions on what I should try next?
    dmesg output with 3.18 kernel:
[ 1.636871] input: PS/2 FocalTech FocalTech Touchpad in mouse emulation mode as /devices/platform/i8042/serio4/input/input17
    With mainline kernel:
    [ 1.236838] input: FocalTechPS/2 FocalTech FocalTech Touchpad as /devices/platform/i8042/serio4/input/input15
EDIT: Appending xorg output. Seems ok to me though.

    EDIT2:
The error was that I had not installed xf86-input-synaptics. I didn't think this would be needed since it isn't a synaptic touchpad. A bit confusing. Now everything works great, I really recommend trying the mainline kernel if you got a zenbook UX303.

  • HP Pavilion g6-1c39ca touchpad not working

Hi, so i turned on my laptop today to find my touchpad not working, I did not change any of the settings. I am unable to enable the touchpad by tapping the cirlcle in the corner of the touchpad as it is broken. I tried to go to control panel-mouse-hardware and sound-mouse but there is no tab for device settings. After reading a couple of questions in the support forum I then downloaded the synaptic touchpad driver from hp support, but it could not be intalled correctly on my computer.  Can someone please help me with this issue.

I grasp that your TouchPad/ClickPad has stopped working.  The round button in the upper left corner of the TouchPad is non functional.  You went to the  control panel-mouse-hardware and sound-mouse but there is no tab for device settings.
You tried downloading the software and drivers but were unable to install them.
Here is a link to HP Notebook PCs - Using and Configuring the TouchPad (Windows 7 and Vista) that may help.

  • Synaptic TouchPad is deactivated upon Windows 7 Startup

    Hello Everybody
    I am using Lenovo G430 4152-C5Q Laptop.
I have been using Windows 7 RC since two months.
Today i updated all the software and drivers to Windows 7 Versions after noticing it in Lenovo support page.
Now Synaptic TouchPad is not working upon Windows 7 Startup.
Everytime i have to enable / disable TouchPad using the function keys to use it.
But if i uninstall the Synaptic TouchPad driver, the TouchPad is working well automatically upon every Windows 7 startup.
But don't recommend that option as Windows 7 Built-In driver is not utilizing all features of the TouchPad.

    Yeah, i am very sure.
As Alps was unable to provide any additional features to my touchpad.
Moreover i am able to utilize all the features supported by the Synaptic driver.

  • MSI GS70 20D Touchpad not working after login when I upgraded to 8.1

Short situation: I upgraded my laptop to windows 8.1, and the touchpad stopped working on the start/desktop screens. I could move it before I logged in, and after it would work for a few seconds, but then it would just stop. An external mouse works just fine, but I still don't want my touchpad not working.
I looked on the MSI USA technical support page, and it said to delete the old drivers for the touchpad and download new ones. I deleted the drives, but every time I try to download the new ones, I get a window that says my touchpad isn't plugged in, and that the drive isn't compatible with my touchpad, which doesn't make sense to me because I looked up my product specifically and tried all three touchpad drivers. None of them worked.
Now I can't use the touchpad at all because I deleted the drivers, so it would seem that the computer doesn't know it has a touchpad because it won't register the touchpad in my devices tab.
Does anyone know what I can do to solve this? Or to at least get the touchpad to register again? I just got this computer for Christmas, I've treated it very well so it hasn't banged up against anything or been dropped or mistreated, so I cannot understand why this is happening. It worked before the 8.1 update, so I'm pretty sure the issue has something to do with that.

UPDATE: So I managed to fix the touch pad by deleting the driver and rebooting, which is weird because I removed the driver completely and never reinstalled it, so the computer shouldn't really know it has a touch pad. But every time I reboot the computer after fixing it, the touch pad goes back to it's old problem and I need to redelete and reboot all over again.
Also, My computer has begun to randomly freeze and not respond to anything, with one such event leading to a blue screen with a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR message. The computer has frozen a total of 6 times, at different moments; when I'm typing on microsoft word, at the login screen, even right when it starts up and the msi loading screen is up. 5 of these times have required a forced shut down, the first time the computer shut off on it's own because it ran out of battery power.
Finally, my computer has begun to periodically for long stretches of time stopped detecting wireless networks and is asking to be plugged into an ethernet cable to connect to the internet. This has never happened to me before, and I know I haven't turned off my network sharing center.
I'm not sure why this is all suddenly happening. It's not like I'm banging my laptop against walls. I'm very careful when I move and use my GS70, so these problems are greatly concerning to me because I just got this computer at Christmas.

  • IPOD not reconized by windows, nor iTunes

My iPod is blocked, following password mismatch 3 times....
I tried to connect to iTunes, and always asking for password to open the iPOD.
Connected to iTunes, unable to restore, as not reconized by both Windows and iTunes.
Any idea how to solve this?
    Thanks

    erfva,
If you can get the iPod recognized in iTunes, you can always attempt to restore it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339
However, if it's not recognized in iTunes you can attempt to format it using Disk Mode, using your Windows OS (just like you would format any drive). Here is a good article on what to do if the iPod is not seen in iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1373?viewlocale=en_US
Unfortunately beyond that, especially if it's making whirring or clicking sounds, it can be a hardware failure which would require service: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1382
    Hope this helps,
    Raleigh
