Synaptics not working on Sony Vaio

And another problem to solve...
My system doesn't detect my touchpad. Well, it works, but I can't use Synaptics driver, because it's detected as generic mouse. I've installed xf-86-input-synaptics and xf86-input-evdev.
Here's what my Xorg log says:

  • FN keys not working on Sony VAIO SVE14A15FDB

    Hi,
I contacted the live chat support a couple of months ago regarding an issue with the FN keys.
The technical analyst sent me a link to download a driver but it didnt fix the issue.
Can you please help me for the next steps?
    Thank Julien

    Hi jeru,
To format the laptop back to its original factory settings, it is advisable to do this outside Windows. This process will make sure that no other programs running while doing the process. This is an important process and please do not interrupt. We also advise to backup all your important files before proceeding to the process.
Kindly follow the link on How to perform a System Recovery from outside of Windows. Since the original OS is Windows 7, just follow the steps 1,2,3, 9, skip rescue, 16
    Hope this helps.

  • Any ideas why my ipod nano 6th gen is not working with Sony SRSGU10IP docking station pls

any ideas why my ipod nano 6th gen is not working with Sony SRSGU10IP docking station please ? classic working fine, so not the fault of the station itself ? it's been bought as a present for my father & he's confused !

Check the headphone jack with a flashlight and clean it if necessary. The jack on a new Nano is very tight, be sure you push the headset jack all the way in, the plastic on the headset jack should be flush with the body of the Nano.

  • M4 SSD 256GB 2.5 inch sometimes not booting on Sony Vaio VGN-FZ11E

I installed a Crucial m4 SSD 256GB 2.5 inch on the Sony Vaio laptop VGN FZ11E using the kit provided. The operating system used is Windows Vista. The drive worked great the first time I booted the laptop, but since the second booting the system sometime stops while booting and I have to force the computer to restart till at some points it works (which can be after 1, 2, 3, 4 or even more attempts). The computer starts and the drive works for the first 10 seconds or so, then when the WLAN light of the laptop comes up, it stops working (no hard disk light). I have installed the last firmware, checked the drivers and made sure that the m4 drive is recognised and prioritized in the BIOS (this is the only drive installed, and it has a partition which is hidden). I have done a Power Cycle as recomended on the Crucial website, but this did not solve the problem. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have the same issue you are describing, with "Operating system not found", not the one laurentzo says. My VAIO VGN-FE11H with BIOS R0174J3 gets stuck at this point, and that happens many times with this version of BIOS. With version R0074J3 also happened, but I have the perception that it was less usual. Anyway, I tried to upgrade my BIOS because the failure is unacceptable, and 8 of 10 times I can´t boot my laptop because the disk is not recognised, despite the fact that when it boots, everything works perferctly. My BX100 250GB firmware is MU02, and my situation is quite desperating, because the workaround that you suggest isn't working.Would you please update this firmware, or would you know any BIOS parameter that could make it boot at least half of the times??P.S.: I have also tried enabling AHCI on BIOS, etc.

  • Xorg - Synaptics not working on fresh install.

Ok... This one has me scratching my head major.
After a certain snafu with e4rat I was forced to reinstall my system which I took the chance to do some redesign on the laptop system layout.
Decided to go with a lightweight DE and the whole gammut.
I get lxde installed, 'startx' Everything is hunky dorey, and I mean everything.  using the default synaptics conf that comes with xf86-input-synaptics. I get a whole bunch more software installed and reboot to try out the whol SLiM DM (which didn't work btw)
So SLiM descides it's not going to load up lxde for me. type in username, password, hit enter and the screen flashes and comes back to SLiM... kill SLiM and startx... pointer doesn't work. reboot, startx...pointer doesn't work.

When you copy 10-evdev.conf file into /etc/X11 you completly override previous system configuration. It's the reason copying synaptics configuration file into /etc/X11 fixes the issue
Defining default system configuration in /etc/X11 with previous xorg was a mistake, now it's fixed.
Wiki should be fixed. It's not a packaging bug, but a configuration bug.
    @lordheavy
I agree with you that the new xf86-input-synaptics package is using the right configuration scheme, however it is breaking the functionality on every installed system. It was a packaging bug, which is now fixed, but it has to be handled manually by most users of previous versions. That's why I won't re-open the bug report FS#41589. Instead, I am asking here: shouldn't this change be notified to the users just like it has been done for most breaking changes on archlinux frontpage news?
By the way, thanks for your great work.

  • Bravia Sync does not work with Sony Bravia XBR-55X900B and BDV-N8100W Bluray 3D Home Theatre System.

Bravia Sync does not function with my Sony Bravia XBR-55X900B and Sony BDV-N8100W Bluray 3D Home Theatre System.  The Sony Bravia XBR-55X900B does not list the Sony BDV-N8100W on the Bravia Sync device list.  Does anyone have an explanation or solution for this?

Please use a component cable.  With either RCA or optical for audio.  That is the quickest fix.  For current HDMI issues.
1.7 upgrade has been known to fix most of the HDMI issues.  Verizon is working diligently to roll out img 1.7.

  • My ipad will only charge on my mac bookair but not on my sony vaio? what can be the problem?

anyone please??  i hav an ipad 2 and it dosent charge when i plug it into the wall outlet or my sony vaio laptop, what can be the problem?????????????? when i plug it in it saids not chrging by the battery bar, but once i plug it in to my mac book air it charges normally???? please help

The iPad should have come with a 10w charger...it is the same charger as used with the iPad 2.  The charger and iPads are interchangable.  If the two of you can share the parts, you take the MacBook and husband the charger you should be able to manage the charging.
If you have lost or misplaced the chargers, then it would be best to buy another to avoid conflicts, afterall, it is Valentine's Day and best to avoid conflicts

  • Why my YUPP TV app is not working on sony google player NSZ-GS8 - Need Help

some of the apps are not working properly. have to close and restart the device. (especially Netflix and youtube).Besides this problem, YUPP TV app is not at all working. not taking the credentials whereas same credentails working well with other devices.Model #: NSZ-GS8 Any suggestions? Do I need to throw the device? really frsutrating..

I just checked and ABC does not work over airplay. I do have an iPad 2 but I turned off mirroring in order to use it the same way an iPad 1 user would. You are right about the link so I have provided one that is up to date.
    http://theapple.tv/apps/list-of-airplay-enabled-apps/
The error message is suspect though, as audio should still come through. I assume you've tried the basics (reboot, reset) for both devices. In regards to the video and why it worked that time, whatever the reason is due to something the developer has done.

iPod 4th gen won't play music through new Sony clock radio.  It charges but won't play or control music.  Works with 2 iPhones tested but not touch.  Yes I am using the correct adapters, universal for iPod and the different ones for phones.

Does Sony say it will work with yur model iPod and iOS?
Do the phones have the same iOS?
Is the iPod fully seated in the dock?
Does the iPod sync and charge OK?
    - Inspect the dock connector for bend or missing contacts, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    Sometimes this works
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • Apple TV 3 not working with Sony Bravia KLV-26T400A

    CURRENT GENERATION APPLE TV (3)
Hi I recently bought an ATV 3 which works fine with a Panasonic TV but is not detected on the HDMI input (or any of the others listed in the Sony menu) by a several year old Sony Bravia KLV-26T400A despite the specs saying it supports 1080 p HDMI input. The HDMI lead is the same that worked successfully with the Panasonic TV.  I have reset the Sony to factory settings, turned the power on and off; cut the power to the ATV 3 and re-booted and tried the fixes I've seen listed on other threads which speak of editing the External Input labels and skipping the ones you don't use (on the Sony) but none of these have helped, can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Simon

That does make things more difficult. Is the monitor HDCP compliant? Seeing as it's an issue with the display and not the device the only thing I could suggest is to get hold of another TV in order to lower the resolution on ATV. If that doesn't work then i'm not really sure what else to try i'm afraid.

  • DVD's not working on Sony dvd player

I just bought some TDK DVD-R 16x. I burned a DVD with my iMac G4 in iDVD. I tried to play it in my Sony DVD player and it said it was was not allowed because there were limitations or something. Can I fix this or do I need new DVDs??

Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the
    DVD. File/Save as Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may
encounter. Once the disc image is created,
double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that
should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn
the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually,
you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which
    OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in
Applications folder), click on the virtual disc
(maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the
Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your
SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn
icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R
preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait.
Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor
over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to
work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower
for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to
click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This
may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk
to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD.
Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD
Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and
open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio
    disks.)
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93006
I'm reading through the forums trying to figure why I am not able to play a DVD burned in iDVD that is "R", but the "RW" ones work fine.
Your post is very helpful and I've looked at the links suggested too. I just want to make sure I'm understanding. I've copied the movie to my hard drive using iMovie and then created an iDVD project. I then need to use either Disk Utility or Toast to make the DVD. I do not need to use the "burn" feature in iDVD. Is that correct?
I would appreciate any other suggestions. Maybe there is something else in the settings or preferences I need to adjust.
    Thanks so much.

  • X-fi Digital in not working for Sony

I have tried looking at all settings in the users manual etc and I am still not getting any sound from my portable Sony DAT player. Not sure what else I have to do to get this working. It worked fine in my old audigy 2 zs pro.

I just hooked my PS2 up to my new computer monitor and found this thread extremely helpful. The one thing that drove me crazy was the S/PDIF-in slider control was set to Mute by default and I didn't realize it for a bit.

  • Adobe reader app not working with sony ereader app.

Adobe reader on my android tablet does not accept login & therefore I can't get my Sony ereader app to work.
    How do I fix this?

I am having the same problem. While they might not have anything to do with each other, it seems to be connected to Adobe somehow .When I launch the App on my phone or my tablet,It asks for my sony e reader log in and password. When I put that information in, it then asks me for my adobe ID conformation ..Specifically it says        "Sony Reader Store is using Adobe DRM technology for rights protected content. Please enter your Adobe ID and password to proceed". So you can see how I might think they they are somehow connected. When I put in my Adobe ID and password, nothing happens..it just keeps going to the above mentioned screen and asking for the same info over and over. This happens on multiple devices (3 devices to be exact) so I am a little confused as to what I am doing wrong . I am sure I am missing a step. Perhaps I am asking my question in the wrong forum, but if sony ereader and adobe arent connected then why do they need my adobe log in ? I am not sure if the origifnal poster and I are having the same problem, but any help would be appreciated.

  • Log and Transfer not working with Sony AVCHD camera

Hi, I have a new Sony AVCHD camera. The HDR-XR200 120GB hard drive model. It captures in 1920x1080i, and connects to Mac via USB.
FCP does not recognize the camera when I open the log and transfer window.
Can someone help me with seq setting and easy set up setting or other setting for it to work.
I am happy to import footage into FCP with AIC or prores 422. Just want to edit all the footage I have of my so's international soccer tournament held in Australia last week. I also have Final Cut Express on my Mac if that works better. This is very frustrating trying to get it to work.
    Cheers
    Bryan

I use a Panasonic AVCHD, which FCP doesn't recognise. Anyway I've spent months playing around because this little camera blows my Sony V1 out of the water in sheer quality.
Best thing is just get hold of a copy of Toast 10, you can then simply drag your .mts files into this and encode to whatever you want, I edit in pro res LT, but Toast will even encode it to HDV if you want to end up on tape(Even this result still blows the Sony HDV apart)
FCP is very fussy about even noticing the very existance of .mts files, so I wouldn't waste my time, scratching my head.
By the way, I use Firewire 800 drives, not USB 2 and also in the name of God BACK UP YOUR MTS FILES ON A NEW HARD DISC CALLED "BACKUP OF .MTS FILES!" LOL
