Synaptics touchpad doesn't scroll after Windows 10 upgrade

I installed the Windows 10 upgrade today (From Windows 7) and now the scroll function on my touchpad doesn't work and it's driving me CRAZY not to be able to scroll! I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Synaptics driver without success. Help! Thank you!

Hi: That happened to me too on my HP 350 G1. On mine, I went into the control panel, and I changed the view to Large Icons (because it is easier for me to find stuff that way). Then I found a Synaptics Luxpad control panel icon. I clicked on that and found that the scrolling feature was unchecked. I checked it, hit apply and close and now I can scroll again.

I have recently updated by OS from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. After using it for a few days the touchpad scrolling suddenly stopped working. Now every time that I log in to my profile, the scrolling feature has been disabled by default. I have to go into the settings for the touchpad and tick the scrolling option to make it work again. For some reason every time I log in the system is returning to the touchpad default settings where scrolling is disabled. Is there a way to change it so that the touchpad does not revert to default settings every time I log in? I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15-n032sa Notebook and issues with Synaptics TouchPad Scrolling being disabled Windows 10.If your computer is having problems finding and installing operating system updates, try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix the problem. Here is a document that shows how to update drivers that are not working correctly with Windows 10. HP has been working closely with Microsoft on the development of Windows 10. Presently there is no driver available for your system. You could try and check at a later date as I am seeing new drivers all the time. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot the Touchpad.
If you will go to the section on General Settings for the TouchPad, then go to the advanced for settings to customize the scrolling characteristics.

Hp Pavilion dv7, synaptics pointing device not scrolling after windows 10

After upgrading to windows 10 my mouse will not scroll. I have updated the driver, no help. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, no help. I rolled back the driver, no help, I reupdated the driver no help, I deleted the whole synaptics system and redownloaded it from their website no help, reupdate the driver again, no help. I then went on to live help....the technician did an update again....no help. I went onto live help again and technician did a system clean/repair from the command prompt, no help (I then gave up with live help) and yes the vertical scrolling option is ticked in the settings. PLEASE can someone help me.

You don't need to be in Windows to mark the D:\Recovery partition Active. Just boot with a utility cd with the disk management capability. If you don't have one_Scroll down on the page and get>> Bootable CD If you don't have a burning app that can burn an ISO to cd get>> ImgBurn to burn the iso image to cd-a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is> Here. Once created, boot from it.
Btw-have you tried booting from his Vista Recovery DVD? With the first disc in the CD/DVD drive power on the laptop and immediately tap Esc to bring up the menu. Then tap F9 Boot options. Use the arrow key to move down & highlight the Optical drive then tap Enter key. (No key is needed with Recovery DVDs)

Hi candy, glad that you found that Shockwave Flash Object, it works with the Flash files and is very important
The NPSWF files that you said are not there, those are for the Firefox browser or Chrome or some other browser. If you use Firefox and want the Flash Player for that, then close all of your browsers so you are only looking at your Desktop.
Click on this Flash Player Installer for Firefox and SAVE it to your Desktop. Then RUN it from your Desktop, and after it is finished Installing, Restart your computer.
Then Using Firefox go to the plug-ins and find a SWF vs 10.0.45.2 and make sure it is Enabled. This is just like the Shockwave Flash Object for Internet Explorer, but it is the one that works with Firefox.
Let me know if that is what you wanted to do. If you don't use Firefox, but Chrome or another browser, then this will work for that one also.
If you don't use another browser, then don't do any of this. I just thot maybe you did and that is why you were concerned that the NPSWF files were not there.

X220 Touchpad Doesn't Scroll Down, but scrolls up

I just got my X220, installed all relevant Windows and Lenovo updates, restarted several times, but the touchpad doesn't scroll down. It only scrolls up.
Also the touchpad tap action (which is same as left click) is not as responsive as I like. Is there a setting for that?

It is a bit more responsive now and is scrolling down more. Not sure what has changed. It is still not as responsive as it should be. I'm clearly sliding my finger down on the scroll side of the touchpad and it doesn't scroll. Yet sometimes it scrolls. Something is still wrong.

I recently have an issue with Synaptics touchpad on HP Mini 110 Windows 7 32 Bit - NOT working for one user - working for another.
Windows 7 updates recently installed ???
By checking the device properties on the user that works - "Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad 13/10/2011 Version 15.3.29.0"
When the other user logs on, the touchpad works for a few seconds, then a displays a black square with a red diagonal line through it, then the touchpad won't respond. Trying to use the keypad to navigate to system diagnosics or anything to find further info is useless....

I will do my best in assisting to hopefully get the TouchPad to work on the second user profile.
What I would like to start off with, is to restore the original Synaptics drivers onto the profile that is not working correctly. I have included the document Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7).
Once you have installed the original drivers, you will need to complete all updates from both HP, as well as Windows. For these updates, if you open the HP Support Assistant, and select Maintain, you should see an option for updating.
Please let me know how these steps do work out for you.

Can't access old ver. 9, 11 & 13 clips after Windows upgrade

In Sept. 2014 I downloaded PE 13 from B&H, worked fine and was able to access old PE9 & PE11 clips. In Dec. 2014 had problems with Wind. 7 Home Ed. and had to upgrade to 8.1 (decided on Pro). Installed 8.1 Pro end of Dec. 2014 and bought PE 13 DVD from B&H to reinstall after I backed up my hard drive. Problem after install of 8/1 Pro and installing PE13 from DVD I can't access and restore old clips from 9, 11 & 13. Tried everything I can think of....any suggestions PLEASE!

With the old computer system, you have Premiere Elements 9, 11, and 13 projects. And, you import media into each and see thumbnails for each of your imports in the project media area of the program (in version 11 and 13, called Project Assets). CORRECT! Please as we go forward I have the PE 13 that was downloaded from B&H and worked perfectly with my previous assets in PE 9 & 11.
When you go to open a project in one of these programs and go to the project media area, do the source media thumbnails still show as before with image in the thumbnail? Or does the thumbnail have a display of circular arrows? If the present as before, can you drag the file from the project media area to the Timeline? If you cannot, it that the problem? NO! (First info is when I set up my new PE 13 after copying all data to a 1T desk drive and loaded Windows 8.1 Pro to replace my Windows 7 Home Edition, I set up the PE 13 and used 64 bit as suggested.) NOW...When I locate my previous Project Assets on the 1T drive they show as "red blocks" with a play arrow in them where previously were thumbnails, but I can't retrieve them. As such there is nothing to add to the timeline. Last night I added to the NEW PE 13 a 22 min program I'm working on. I have all those assets, thumbnails and everything is working as wonderfully as it did in 9, 11 and downloaded 13.

The major focus for me right now is to make sure I know what file triggers the ".....not have the required compressoer/decompressor (codec)"? And to know that
you are in the Premiere Elements 13 Editor and not the Organizer 13 workspace. Help me understand!!!! I know the difference between "Add Media", "Project Assets", "Organizer", "Editor" and "Workspace". But "Project Assets" and "Workspace" are part of "Editor", so I don't understand your question.

Synaptics touchpad doesn't save scroll settings after Windows 10 upgrade

Since the Windows 10 upgrade (upgraded from 7), the Synaptics Touchpad does not save scroll settings. Every time I shut down and restart the machine the next day, I have to go into settings to re-enable touchpad scrolling. It's always unchecked on restart. Please advise on how to fix this!

My solution, copied from one of many threads regarding this problem - You have Synaptics Port Touchpad driver installed via Windows Update. Here's is a work around until a fully Win10 compatible driver is issued. Win+X/ Device Manager/ Mice and other pointing devices/ Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad. R click/ Update Driver Software/ Browse my computer for driver software / Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Select the top or latest version of Synaptics PS/2 Port Compatible Touchpad Version 19.0.12.95 (7/15/2015) / Next and driver will install automatically. Reboot to finish install. Go to Settings/ Mouse Properties/ Synaptics Device Settings to access Touchpad settings, adjust to your liking/ Apply/ OK. Advise to tick 'Static tray icon in taskbar' for easy access to the settings tab until you're completely happy. This 19.0.12.95 is the latest one on the HP site for my model (your # may vary) and it installs 2 versions. The one Windows Update uses is the same date Port Touchpad version but the 'Compatible' one is installed at the same time. You can tell the difference immediately because it allows you to create a profile. The old 8.1 version did not and neither does the 'Compatible' one. The touchpad setting screens look the same as before (you'll notice the new one looks different and 3 finger press opens Cortana). Why do I consider this a workaround ? Because the 3-finger press app setting, one finger EdgeMotion and demo vids do not work. But at least you can set the scrolling, pinch zoom, speed and sensitivity to your liking and if you reboot, you'll see the system tray icon and your preferences have stuck. Hope this helps somebody !

I have HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC, originally with Win 8.1. I upgraded to Window 10 on 05.08.2015. However, after upgrade the Synaptic touchpad scroll was not working, which I activated from Control Panel. But this activation is only a temporary solution as the setting goes off once the PC is rebooted. Please fix this issue.

Wireless doesn't work after windows 10 upgrade

Today as most of the world, I upgraded my HP Pavilion dv6 6115-tx from Windows 7 to Windows 10. After the upgrade, the wireless doesn't seem to work. My PC seems to recognise the wireless adapter though. The wireless adapter I have is Intel Centrino Wireless 1030. What is the solution? Can I download another Wireless adapter?

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

The Touchpad is still working, but changing options in the xorg.conf or the 10-synaptics.conf doesn't have any effect anymore. For example, I can not enable VertTwoFingerScroll, what was no problem before the error occured.
The section for the touchpad in /proc/bus/input/devices is the following:

It stopped the EE error, touchpad works here
but it's reverted to old "typing=accidentally doing clicks" since it got way too sensitive
I can't run gsynaptics , synclient or syndaemon to fix it (as I used to)
since I get

Vaio SVT13134CXS doesn't start after windows 10 upgrade

Hi, I've upgraded my laptop from win 8.1 to 10 and at boot stage the mouse cursor and loader icon are showed. i've seen that is not recommended do the update yet, but it's too late . Anyone know how can I make my laptop usabe again? I'm very grateful with any help. cheers

I am sorry to hear your issue but let's try to isolate this. Hopefully will be able to boot your unit to Windows. Since this is a U.S. model, these steps are applicable to your unit.
Remove all peripherals -> look for a battery off button or pinhole on the bottom of the laptop -> push the button for 5 seconds.
Reset BIOS.
Safe Mode.

Fn + F6 to lock/unlock touchpad doesn't work with Windows 10

Hello,i have G580 i'v done an upgrade from 8.1 to windows 10so i'v have a small issue with touchpad :Fn+F6 to lock touchpad doesn't work when it was working as well in 8.1scrolling line at touchpad doesn't work to. so how to fix it, or will lenovo release drivers for windows 10 as she did for previous windowsis getting newer driver from elantech or synaptic website will resolve the problem ? cuz i did install 8.1 driver elantech and keyboard+mouse stopped working before reseting windows 10 upcoming driver. I have the same problem. Untilthey update the ELAN driver I go in to Settings, Devices, Mouse and Touchpad, Additional Mouse Options and disabel the ELAN driver. You can still turn it back on with Fn F6, but you have to go through the same steps again to turn it off. The nice thing is, it doesn't go back to enabled after awhile when you havent' been using the laptop.for awhile as it did before. The bad side is it takes about half a dozen key strokes to get to he disable. Hope this helps for now.

[UNSOLVED] Synaptics Touchpad & Firefox: Horizontal Scroll

Hey guys.. i'm having a problem with my laptop's Synaptics Touchpad and Firefox.
I can't seem to get my touchpad to allow me to scroll horizontally in the browser (when, say, there's a wide image on a page for instance). Whenever I try to scroll by sliding my finger side-to-side on the bottom edge of my touchpad, the page scrolls up and down, just like the vertical scroll on the right edge!
At first I thought it was a problem with horizontal scrolling on the Synaptics driver in general, but I discovered that if I have something like File Browser open, I can scroll horizontally with the touchpad, so the problem lies ONLY with Firefox.
I have looked for solutions already and everything I find only talks about a possible issue where Firefox might treat the Touchpad's horizontal scrolling and Forward and Back actions and how to fix this. But this is not the problem I am having. But I do have mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action set to 1 in my about:config, which from what I've read is supposed to be correct to allow h. scrolling.
Any ideas?

FYI, with my Synaptics touch pad and firefox, it works, but I have the mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action set to 0 (default). In fact, all of the settings in about:config with 'mousewheel' in them are all at the default setting. I just had to setup the xorg.conf (old way) or the the /etc/hal/fdi/policy/11-x11-synaptics.fdi (new way) correctly to enable the horizontal scrolling.
