Synatics Touchpad V7.5 settings not saving after Windows 10 update.

After I updated to Windows 10 it seems that all dirvers were updated as well. Now the settings won't save everytime I shut down my laptop. Can someone help me with this please?

Hi, I noticed this has been a widespread issue concerning HP laptops upgraded to Windows 10 that come with Synaptics drivers. Here is a fix I found:  1. Open Device Manager and uninstall the current driver v19.0.25.95 and tick the box that says delete the driver software for this device. 2. Open Programs and Features and uninstall the Synaptics program you see in there. 3. Head to your product page in the HP website and download the Synaptics drivers available for the OS version your laptop had prior to the Windows 10 upgrade. In my case, it's Windows 8.1. 4. Restart your computer. 5. Install the driver you downloaded from the HP product page of your laptop. Verify that the installation has finished, you need to go through the Device Driver Installation wizard. 6. Once again, open Programs and Features and check if a new Synaptics program is displayed there; its version should match the version you installed from the HP website. 7. Once again, open Device Manager and check if the Synaptics Touchpad driver changed. If not, you will see an option to Roll back to a previous version, click this and the driver will revert to the version you installed from the HP website. 8. A prompt will appear asking if you want to restart the computer now or later. Choose restart later. 9. Download this troubleshooter from Microsoft and refer to this link on how to use it. The troubleshooter, hides updates and when updates are hidden, Windows chooses not to install them.      Link- http://reviews.gizmodo.com/heres-the-incredibly-hacky-way-to-disable-windows-10-up-1720768012     Troubleshooter- https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 10. Once you have located and have hidden the Synaptics update, Try changing your touchpad settings through the Control Panel and reboot to check if it saves the settings you have chosen.  I have found this as a better and safer alternative than completely disabling Windows automatic driver installation. Sources: Gizmodo (http://reviews.gizmodo.com/heres-the-incredibly-hacky-way-to-disable-windows-10-up-1720768012)               Microsoft (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930)               HP (http://www.hp.com/country/us/en/uc/welcome.html)

  • Firefox does not open after Windows 7 updates

After Windows 7 updates installed, Firefox 4.0.1 refuses to start. I click on the shortcut, the hourglass (blue circle in Windows 7) pops up for a couple of seconds, then it goes away, and no Firefox.
    Chrome and IE work fine.
I have followed the tips on the "Firefox won't start" pages.
In Task Manager, there is a 4,796k Firefox process, which I then end. If I attempt to start Firefox multiple times, I get different processes in Task Manager, of different sizes.
I removed and re-installed Firefox 4.0.1. It made no difference. I even chose to have it delete all my customizations. No luck.
I cannot start Firefox in Safe Mode. When I try, the same thing happens (hourglass, then nothing)
I cannot start the Profile Manager. I created a new user in Windows, logged in as that user, and tried starting Firefox, but the same thing happened. This leads me to believe that it is not a profile issue.
I do not get a crash report.
    Thank you for your help!

Which Windows 7 updates were installed? Were these rated as "Critical"?
Microsoft usually releases updates on 'Patch Tuesday' which always takes place on the second Tuesday of the month. That won't take place for another two weeks yet. I'm not aware of any out-of-band updates.

Hi there ,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I have read your post on the HP Support Forums. I understand that your TouchPad is not working correctly since you upgraded to Windows 10.  I did some research and came up with a couple different documents that may help you with the TouchPad.
     1. HP Notebook PCs - Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10)). 2. Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8): You can customize and adjust how you scroll using one finger or two fingers and how the TouchPad or ClickPad responds to gestures near the edge. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating for Windows 10. The Windows 10 drivers will become available on the HP Drivers and Downloads Page for your product as they become available to HP. There are some drivers available there currently.  Have a great day!

  • Touchscreen not working after windows 10 update.

Hello,I own an HP-Pavillion 15-n287cl touchscreen laptop.  I updated my operating system today to windows 10, but after finishing the update my touchscreen dosen't seem to work. In fact it is not even reognized under the human interfaces tab in the device manager. I have tried intaling the HP drivers from the support assistant and the website but it still dosen't work. Any help on this would be much appreciated. regards.

It is not quite so simple.Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 do have native suport for touchscreens. There is the consideration that Windows 10 is a brand new OS. It has only been available to the general public for a single day.   I am upgrading my current HP loaner HP Omen to Windows 10 Pro as I type this. I will know if the touchscreen works when it is complete.  I am sure you don't completely rely on the touchscreen for input to the operating system.  I only use the touchscreen once in agreat while if I even think about it. Wait for a few days and keep on trying the Windows update option. It will take some patience on your part. edit: The Windows 10 Pro update is complete. The touchscreen is still working just as it did before.

I understand that you got 2 Windows updates, during the installation of the second one the computer froze. After 1 hour you removed the battery and reinstalled it.
Now when you try to power it on you get a blank or black screen with no error messages. The wireless light is lit for about 30 seconds before it powers itself down.
There has been some Windows updates that have been causing an issue.
Would you boot into Safe Mode and uninstall these updates.
    KB2982791, KB2970228,  KB2975719 and KB2975331.
The other one that is suspected of causing this issue is the "Search Protect" software.
If you check under programs and it is listed, please uninstall it.
    Windows 8 Safe Mode
See which Windows updates are installed
If you would like further assistance, please provide your exact model of HP 15 notebook you have.

Every time I restart the computer, I have to re-change the 'open with' settings to files. How do you get the Mac to remember the settings after the computer is shut down. It used to not have this problem.

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
    on Terminal does nothing.

  • Trusted Location Settings not working after windows 7 installation

    Hi All,
Recently, all the work stations in my office was upgraded to windows 7. I work on SAP Xcelsius dashboards whose output is in flash and it requires trusted location settings to be enabled in order to view the dashboard in any browser.
In one of these dashboards i am using Google map plugin from Centigon which is in turn referring to a Shape File (for drawing the outlines in a map) placed in  server. Previous to OS upgradation these dashboards were working fine and we were able to see the shape file layer on the map placed in the dashboard, once the location where the dashboard was added to the trusted location settings. But post upgradation the dashboard is working in some of the work stations, but for some it doesn't work even if you add the file as well as folder to the trusted location settings.
The Flash Player in most of these systems are the latest which is 11.6.602.180 and in some of them its a previous version from the latest. Please help me in figuring out what could be the issue, since due to this i am not able to circulate the dashboard to the users.
    Thanks in Advance
    Arjun

Hi: I don't know what model wireless card your model uses, but that is easy enough to determine. Please do the following and I will post the link to the wireless card driver you need... Go to the device manager, find the Other Devices category, and click on the Network Controller needing drivers. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the network controller window. Now you see a Property drop down list and it is defaulted to Device Description. Drop down on that and select the second item on the list (Hardware ID's).  Post the top string of characters that begin with PCI\VEN.

  • HP Probook 4440s WIFI Drivers Not Working After Windows 10 Update

I updated my Hp ProBook 4440s from windows 7 32 bit to Windows 10 32 bit, everything is working except for my WiFi it says 'Windows did not detect any networking hardware' Can you please provide me with the compatible wifi drivers for Windows 10 Pro 32 bit. I hope you can help

Hi: I guess what I meant to say is that you may want to play around with some of the advanced settings for the card in the device manager. It seems that reading the article you posted, that procedure may have been for folks that have Cisco software to allow for Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and I don't think the drivers you have include any Cisco extensions. You can see if there is Cisco networking software by going to the Programs menu in the control panel and see the list of programs installed. There are usually 2-3 Cisco networking software items listed if you do. Sometimes tweaking those advanced settings help.  Here is an article that explains what some of these settings are for. http://superuser.com/questions/342759/can-somebody-explain-about-wi-fi-device-manager-settings-and-power-settings-in-w The ones I normally change are:  Enable WMM.  Set Roam tendency to conservative.  Roam decision to optimize distance. I had to change some setting on an old Intel 5300 wireless card to allow it to connect in W10.   The drivers were there, etc but when I went to connect to a network, it did nothing.
