Sync ACT to handheld with "Desktop overwrites handheld"

I need to perform a "Desktop overwrites handheld" to overwrite my ACT contact info on my Palm Vx handheld, but can't find anywhere in HotSync where it states "Desktop overwrites handheld". Can someone please tell me where I need to find that option? I am unable to bring my new and ongoing ACT info over to my handheld. Thank you for any help. - Barry

I am about to have the same issue. I have been using an 8703e that I have been syncing with my laptop at work and my laptop at home.
I just bought the 9630 Tour and I am going to be set up on the BES at work. But I still want to be able to sync my outlook contacts and calendar with my personal laptop.

Pearl stopped syncing Calendar, Storm will with Desktop 4.7

I just reformatted my computer and installed Windows XP Pro fresh on a new harddrive and have been loading software back in. I got around to our phones and I can't figure out what's up with my wife's Pearl.

The storm syncs just fine, but the pearl will not sync calendar. It will sync the address book just fine, but when it comes time to sync calendar, it waits on a blank screen then just "dings" like it's done. I check the logs of the pearl sync, and I can see in the log where it says

There are no logs of an attempt to sync calendar, only Contacts (address book)
I have found a few post topics on this already doing a search in this forum. Most of the topics are not the same problems as this pearl phone. So if this is a duplicate post, sorry, but I didn't find it in searching....I did try several ideas in the posts I found:

Resolution #1 was to repair the install: I tried that.
Resolution #2 doesn't apply to me, I am running Windows XP Pro
Resolution #3 was to redownload desktop manager from the web, and disable all virus scanners: I tried that.
Resolution #4 was to reset the configuration on the phone: I tried that too.
I rebooted my PC, I rebooted the pearl phone: None of the above have worked.
I disabled virus, and disabled firewalls, then tried to sync. Did not work....Keep in mind the Storm has no problems syncing either address books or calendar.
There was also referrence in the post to check and see if calendar can be viewed if you go to Advance in Backup/Restore. Yes I can see the database in the phone, I can see "calendar all" database on the phone side.
There is no error that is generated when this happens.
I have a desktop Video AVI file of this process, I captured the problem with a video, if you'd like to view it, please PM or e-mail me and I would be happy to share it with anyone that thinks they can help us.
Please keep in mind that I have a STORM blackberry, using the SAME PC, the SAME Blackberry desktop software.
The Storm will sync the address book and calendar just fine.
The Pearl will only sync the address book, but stops with no error when it comes to the calendar.
Before my Windows XP re-installation, both phones seem to be just fine. The only difference I know of is that I am running Service Pack 3 on the PC now and before the re-install of Windows XP, I was running Service Pack 2.
Anyone have any ideas?

The problem was my wife installed Facebook App for Blackberry:

Changed the calendar default to Outlook and not Facebook as Steve suggested in his blog, and this worked.

Syncing ACT 11.0 with Blackberry 8310

I have been trying to sync my ACT with my blackberry. When I press the "Synchronize" button, the "Synchronizer progress Page" comes up. It then says "Processing" for a second then goes back to the "Synchronize" page. so my blackberry won't sync. any suggestions?

What do you mean by ACT? Is it an app/software?

Syncing Palm Vx Handheld to Palm 6.2 Desktop

I've had my Palm Vx for several years and been very happy with it. Occassionally I upgrade my desktop software by downloading the latest version. Today I downloaded Palm Desktop 6.2 successfully....I thought. However, when I do a HotSync it appears to run successfully but address and calendar data on my handheld do not appear in the new desktop software.
I saved my address and datebook folders from my previous desktop and thought I might be able to just move those files into the Palm 6.2 folders. But I can't find address and datebook file locations in Palm 6.2.
What do I need to do to sync my old handheld to my new desktop?

Hello neil_bowers, Welcome to the Palm Support Community.
Version 6.2.2 is not really an upgrade - it was designed to be compatible with Vista and later versions of Windows. It loses many functions we were used to in versions 4.x of Palm Desktop. Since Microsoft broke the connection to Quick Install when Vista was created, 6.2.2 was born with a whole new Install program.
If you are using Windows XP, there's no real reason to change. I'd do a clean uninstall of 6.2.2 and go back to 4.x!
If you are using Vista or Win7, you may need to install a free program from Pimlicosoftware.com called "PalmHotSyncSetup". This enables 6.2.2 to read old database files from Palm devices.

When I attempt to sync in itunes I get a popup message asking if I want to delete, Merge or cancel. Not wanting to delete of cancel the only option left is Merge.
When selecting Merge all of the entries in outlook are added to the idevice. The next time I merge all of the same entries plus any new ones are added, resulting in older entries being repeated i.e an entry like “John’s Birthday” will appear 5 or 6 times on the same date.
How do I resolve this issue? How do I get the the sync process to add only new entries?

This is a great question. First, facetime will not work because it has to establish a Call connection first. iMessage should work, but how to get it going I am not sure. Two great Apps to try are, Viber and Skype. Viber is excellent, it works over WiFi, you can make free calls and free text messages all over the world with other users who have Viber installed. It does not even have to be open on screen to work. Viber does have to recieve one text message with activation code, to activate it, this will be your only hurdle, but maybe Verizon can help you get that one text message. Skype does have to be open on screen however, but this can function like Facetime with WiFi connection. Definitely get Viber free in App Store, and put it on all your iDevices so the old Verizon iPhone can function as a telephone when on WiFi.

Syncing ACT contacts while on automatic wireless syncing with Microsoft Exchange Server?

Does anyone know if this is possible? At the moment, my company is automatically performing a wireless sync between Outlook contacts and their Blackberry Curve 8330 devices. However, employees that travel also need their ACT contacts on their phone. I've researched CompanionLink and know that I can get the ACT contacts directly onto the Blackberry that way, but, the problem arises where the ACT contacts will end up syncing back to the Exchange server -- which we don't want. We want to keep the automatic syncing with Outlook, but periodically we want to do a one-way ACT transfer onto our Blackberries, without having those extra (approximately 5,000) contacts go back into Outlook. Is there an easy way to categorize/separate Outlook and ACT? Any ideas or workarounds?

I'm looking at the Internode setup guides and it looks as though you have a POP server. In that case, if you want to sync directly to the server, you would want to set it up for POP/SMTP rather than for Microsoft Exchange Server. Does that help?
If you do not want to sync over the air and instead want to sync only by USB/Bluetooth to your PC, I think that works quite differently. I don't have any experience with that.

First sync with desktop manager for mac: only 300 contacts synced instead of the 1100

I have a brand new mac with NO CONTACTS or calendar.
I have preciously very successfully synced with my windows computer for 2 years.
I have just tried for the first time to sync with desktop manager,.only 315 contacts synced of the 1100.
The apple people recommend using Mark/Space" missing Sync" but I am reluctant to do this as the reviews are mixed.

Have been using my BB Pearl 8100 on and off since Oct 08.
I have successfully synced with a Vaio (XP Pro) using BBDM (up to version 4.6) as well as iMac OS 10.5.8 using PocketMac for BB v4.1 and now BBDM for Mac. Have synced with iCal, Mail, Contacts (albeit 647)
PocketMac can be a little temperamental, but not that much of a prob as when i downloaded it was free (shareware) and the only alternative was Missing Sync.

This may be old news for some of you, but I've just managed to sync Palm Desktop with Windows 7 (Ultimate, 32 bit)!!!! Works with my Tungsten T5 just the way it used to work years ago with Windows XP. I only post this be cause I've tried for years to get this working again. Don't have to bother with Desktop 6, or with XPMode in Windows 7....just install and let it rip!!!! If anyone has any questions, I'm [email protected] Happy Day!!!!

Because most consumers don't need or have access to Enterprise, but Ultimate and Pro are, and schools offer the Pro version. With inabiltiy to use BitLocker on Mac, right? there isn't a real need but it is no different otherwise.

Error message trying to sync Bold 9700 with Desktop software 6.0

Hi all,
I received error message 0x80043ade when trying to sync my Bold 9700 with my Acer Aspire 6920, running Windows Vista and the latest Java 6.20.
Anybody out there had the same problem. The desktop software recognised my Blaxkberry and ran a data backup before I tried to run Intellisync.

Vista OP--Curve 8330---no sync with desktop manager---please help

I have tried the following versions of desktop manager, 4.3 from disk and download, 4.5, and 4.7. Each new version was tried after clean reinstall. Vista OP. I click the sync configure. I get the select a devise application window. I click on any one of the choices, and get the following choices:

THERE IS NO OPTION FOR VISTA
I have read many suggestions on this message community which basically say try a different version. THAT DOESN'T WORK. Is there anything else anyone has tried that works with Windows Vista?

Desktop Manager does not recognize any bluetooth drivers (stacks) other than the basic Windows Bluetooth Stack. If you have another bluetooth stack in use, you'll need to remove it and let Windows install the basic bluetooth stack. The downside of this is that you loose some of the advanced features that your current bluetooth stack gives...extra speed, etc. However, that's the only way to make bluetooth work with Desktop manager.

I feel your pain. I am a long time user of Palm Desktop/Claris Organizer and have an iPhone that I really can't sync except by doing an export and import into iCal, etc. You might try Missing Sync. I have been working intermittently with writing a replacement for Palm Desktop, but I've only gotten as far as dumping out the information for everything (except repeating appointments) as an XML file.

Syncing Memos with Desktop

I have an error message "The organizer applications on your computer aren't supported" when I try to sync my memos on Blackberry desktop. The messages says to check release notes however I cannot find anything about this topic in the release notes.
I have a blackberry 8310 and I wish to create files to transfer my contacts and memos onto my PC to be able to move them onto a new blackberry (I'll be handing back my 8310 with a gap of a few days before I have the new one.)

I can't sync my Zire 71 with my computer. I installed the the palm desktop for access v6.2.2 and Hotsync manager application 7.0.2 on my PC and my OS is Vista premium family edition 32 bits. The hotsync window tell me that the synchronisation work well (no errors) but I can't see nothing on my PC.

Trying to Sync my iPhone4 to my desktop with Windows XP, I get a message saying cannot sync because the device is not connected.

I need help with an error message I receive when trying to Sync my iPhone4 to my desktop using Windows XP.
It says unable to sync, as the device is not connected. I've changed the usb ports, and tried again to no avail. Anybody have any suggestions?
