Sync address book between 2 macs?

How do you transfer all address book contents from MacBook Pro to an Air and thereafter sync them?
Same question ref calendar?

I was not suggesting to use your iPhone to sync the 2 computers.
What I was suggesting was that if you have an iPhone that you can sigh up for iCloud which will store your contacts and calendars and then sync them with all your Apple devices. You don't have to use it for anything else if you kdon't want to.
I personally use Google to sync my Android phone contacts and calendar with both my Mac Address book and iCal and my Windows PCs using Mozilla Thunderbird email program Address book and a Calendar add-on. I also use Thunderbird on the Mac and sync the contacts directly in TB with my Google account.
Other then doing something like that there is NO WAY.
Good Luck and Best Wishes.

  • How to sync Notes, iCal & Address Book between iPod & Mac?

    Hi, there:
Could someone please be so kind to teach me how to sync Notes, iCal & Address Book between my iPod Touch (with iOS6) & Mac (with OS X10.6.8)?
What file format would it be in when Notes is synced from my iPod Touch into Mac, if possible?
How may I drag photos in my regular photos files (not using iPhoto) from my Mac into iPod Touch?

Thanks so much for your detailed reply.  Much appreciated!
Just to confirm my understanding that 100% clear on the solution, if my wife gets her own iCloud account, on her phone she'll receive her own emails & iMessages (makes sense) but not contacts.  Calendars though we could share.
Without two separate iCloud accts though -- iCloud on my phone, and her email through Gmail on her phone -- we could share all the common iCloud data (contacts, calendar, notes, reminders, etc.) by enabling the appropriate settings on her phone.
Am I correct to conclude then that the sole benefit of her adding own iCloud acct is email through iCloud (and I guess the free 5GB)?  It would not be possible to simply and easily have one common 'family' address book (i.e. since while Calendars are share-able, contact libraries are not)?

  • Sync Address Book across two Macs w/o .Mac

How do I sync two address books across two Macs without using .Mac?

    Hi
There are several third-party solutions. When I was without .Mac I used Address-O-Sync. You can find others on versiontracker.

  • Sync Address Book between users

I just set up Snow Leopard server and I am looking for a way to synchronize and address book between multiple users. I do not want to use LDAP for this. I am looking for a server side to keep two or more users address book contacts synchronized automatically.

One way you could do this, and it's a complicated way, is scripting. As the actual address book entries are just flat file vcards you could synchronize two or more directories using rsync. The complication arises with finding the path for each user you want to sync. It's under /Library/AddressBookServer/Documents/addressbooks/_uids_/...
It gets fairly convoluted after the uids part. It breaks it down based on the GUID of each user so you would have to look up the GUID in Workgroup Manager for the users you want to sync. Get the paths to their particular folders, then add them to an rsync script.
If anyone knows of an easier way, please do share.
Actually the more I think on this the less I think it's doable, as there may be information in the vcard that is specific to the user that created it, like a UID or GUID. Not sure though.

  • Ipad 4 sync address book from mini mac snow lepoard. ?

    1)  I am unable to sync my address book from mini mac snow lepoard to my ipad 4.
    2) How do i turn of the icloud......
    3) How do I add more mailboxes to my email to file emails..???
    All assistance geatly appreciated...ty

No you can sync them over a local network or USB cable, you just can't do so by iCloud.
The other option would be to sync your mobile devices with iCloud and use the contacts feature at iCloud.com rather than the Address Book when using the computer.

  • Syncing address book groups to .mac account

Can address groups be syncronized to my address book on my .mac account?

    Hi Matt,
I'm trying to figure this out also. So far, I haven't been able to figure out how. All contacts are sync'd but not in groups. Hopefully, someone will have a suggestion.

  • Can I Share/Sync my iCal (and Address Book) between two Macs?

I have my Address book and iCal on a MacBook.
I also have a MacMini on my desktop.
Is there some way that I import the MacBook Addresses and iCal into the Mini - AND synchronize them so that when one is changed, the other also changes?
Does this require a .Mac account or is there some way to do it just across my network?
    Thanks,

You might be interested in Address Book Server (http://www.addressbookserver.com). It allows you to sync either the entire Address Book or selected groups between several macs on the same network or over the internet.

  • Sync address book groups to .Mac?

I just recently singed up for a .Mac membership. I've sync-ed information to .Mac, but was dissapointed to find that only addresses without the address groups I had made in my local address book were sync-ed. I need these groups, as it will be cumbersome to send an e-mail to a group of people (20+) from my .Mac account.
Is it possible to also sync groups, or is there any other way around this issue?
    Regards,
    Hall

    Greetings,
Indeed, .Mac currently does not sync Group designations between your desktop and the online Addressbook.
The only work around that I am aware of is to create on card that contains a listing of all email addresses in it. Bear in mind, that you must make a comma seperated list of all email addresses that you want to send to and add that list to a new card as if it were one email address. This solution is rather cumbersome to use and difficult to keep up to date.
It is much simpler to adminster groups and group emails from a desktop email client.
I suggest that you leave feedback ( go to www.mac.com and locate the link for feedback) to suggest this feature (as I have done as well).
Also, you may find more accurate support for issues like this in the .Mac section of these Discussion boards rather than the Tiger (OS X) section.

  • How to sync Address Book with multiple macs

What are the methods for having 1 address book and having them synced over multiple macs.
    I have:
    - 1 iMac (24 inch)
    - 1 Powerbook
    - 1 iMac (dome)
    - 1 iPhone
I'm using all of them (sounds weird, eh?) and I want to be able to have them synced automatically. One update on my iPhone reflects the other Address books.
    Cheers!

Agreed, $99 a year seems like a bit much if that's all you want to do.
If you trust web-based free email services like Gmail, you can export your Address Book(s) and those on other platforms and manage it from there.
Downside is that there is apparently NOT an 'export' back at the present time if you decide to change.
So, for now I use MobileMe for the convenience, because $99 a year is easier than wading through three or four different programs and operating systems on multiple platforms.

  • Syncing address book from a Mac

After several years of easily syncing my BlackBerry Curve 8530 to my Mac, I suddenly can't do it.  I get the following error message:  The Address Book database cannot be accessed for synchroniztion.  For help resolving this issue, refer to KB19454 in the BlackBerry Desktop Software Knowledge Base.
I can't find KB19454 in the database.  I can't find a way to call BlackBerry to resolve this.  My Sprint store won't touch my Mac (and vice versa).  Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
    thank you.

  • Sync Address Book With Quickbooks Mac 2007

Do I need to have a .mac account for this to work? I would assume the QB application and files which are on my computer would work the same as ALL the other programs which tap into Address Book for it's data. or is this just one more reason why I hate Quickbooks. Please give any instructions on how to make contacts in QB match my contacts in address book. Thanks!

I feel your pain man. My problem is the Address Book is not removing "customers" I have made Inactive in QB. And I can only assume that's because QB is not updating the information correctly so the Address Book can reflect those changes. I wish there was a manual command I could do in QB that allows you to update the data now. As opposed to it be done in the background. I mean how long does that take and why should I have to wait for that to take place. When I want to update something I want to do it then and there.
My business is service oriented and involves delivery of products. So when I build a new customer contact I have a Bill To address, Ship To address and phone numbers. Once updated in my Address Book I can then update my iPhone with the latest Address Book info. Then if a customer calls or I need to call them I can do so by name. And when it comes time for that delivery, I launch the iPhone Maps app, select that contact and I'm on my way. I can't tell you how cool that is.
So when it does work it is a beautiful system that saves time and duplication of data. But as it is now it's more frustrating then it's worth and just reflects poorly on Intuit and their failure to fix this problem.

  • Sharing address book between two macs

I have a powermac g4 agp and a titanium powerbook. I want to have the same contacts on both machines. How do I transfer the address book info from the powermac to the powerbook?

I went to the above message and it answered the question. I also found out that you can export vcards. You can export the entire contents of the address book and save it to the desktop then transfer that file to the address book of the other computer. Just go to edit/select all/file/export vcard. That will export all the files in the address book to wherever you want to save it. I saved to my desktop and then trasfered the saved files to my powerbook. Then you just have to import the vcards.

  • What is the best way to share Address book between 5 Macs that are networked?

We have 5 Macs in the office, using 10.6.x or higher, and linked by a network. One Mac has the company database, and needs to be viewed and updated by the other users. What is the simplest way of doing this?

Oh, I meant Leopard does do more than Tiger Server.
I don't know enough about Server, even less abut Syncing.
SL is to new, not enough time to iron out the kinks yet imho.
One day SL will be better than Leo, but...

  • Dropbox to share address book over multiple Macs?

  • How do I sync my address book in my Mac to iPhone instead of my old blackberry

I stopped using the Backup Assistant over a year ago because it wouldn't backup the email addresses onto my blackberry even though it showed in Backup Assistant.
Now I got a new iPhone 4S and I want to use my Address Book in my Mac to the iPhone. How do I sync it to my Address Book?
How does that differ in syncing with iTunes?
    I already have iCloud.
Should I sync it to iCloud or my Mac Address Book (which really is already synced with iCloud, I think)?
I'm afraid to activate my iPhone until I have these questions answered.
    Can someone help me?

I don't have a Mac but on my windows if I go into my phone info on iTunes when plugged in I go to contacts and there are choices to choose from like gmail and windows then sync.  I assume when it's done on a max there is the same option on iTunes. If you go to iCloud.com and sign in you can check to see if your contacts are there. If you activate your phone it won't ruin what you have. It will ask you if you want to back up to what you have if there is anything. If you don't back up you can even if you say start fresh. I would go to an apple store if those things don't check out.
